"Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it." -- George Orwell, 1984

The Biden Regime this week struck a tentative deal with rail workers to avert a strike.
The US has prevented independent research into the origins of the Covid-19 virus, a report by the Lancet Commission has asserted.
Washington barred the researchers from accessing relevant laboratories and refused to disclose full information on American studies of the virus, the document, published in the British medical journal on Wednesday, outlined.
“Independent researchers have not yet investigated the US laboratories engaged in the laboratory manipulation of SARS-CoV-like viruses,” the report said while discussing the potential origins of the Covid-19 infection. Nor had they gained access to the research conducted at the Wuhan laboratory, which has been considered a possible place where the disease might have originated, the document added.
The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) also “resisted disclosing the details” of the research conducted in America on SARS-CoV-related viruses, which the US government agency has been supporting, according to the report. Eventually, only an “extensively redacted” version of the relevant data was provided, the document said, adding that it contains only as much information that was required by the Freedom of Information act lawsuits.
A top US think tank has slammed a Swedish news report which claimed that it plotted to weaken Germany and the EU by provoking Russia into attacking Ukraine.
RAND corporation has asserted that the claim is "fake."
The story of an alleged US plan to drain EU resources to prop up its economy was reported on Tuesday by Nya Dagbladet, a Swedish news outlet, which describes itself as anti-globalist, humanist, pro-freedom, and independent. An English-language version was released later in the week.
President Vladimir Putin on Friday denied Russia had anything to do with Europe's energy crisis, saying that if the European Union wanted more gas it should lift sanctions preventing the opening of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
According to the New York Post, Weinstein is due to have some rotting teeth pulled from his mouth by the prison dentist. He is begging a judge to have the teeth removed by a private dentist and replaced with dental implants.
According to Yahoo News, the request, made by one of Weinstein’s lawyers, took place in a Los Angeles court during a pretrial hearing. Weinstein maintains that he was given a choice between leaving the rotting teeth in, which gives him excruciating pain or having them pulled without replacements, leaving gaps in his mouth. Weinstein would like to “look presentable” for future trials.
A new report published in the peer-reviewed medical journal The Lancet suggests that it is “feasible” that the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) actually originated from a lab in the United States.
To encourage compliance with the country’s new strict energy dictates, some entity in Switzerland – the government claims it is not involved – is blanketing the nation with posters calling on residents to rat out their neighbors for “overheating” their homes and committing other energy “crimes” this winter.

On Thursday, parents shared personal stories of losing children to fentanyl at a roundtable organized by the Republican Study Committee. The advocates urged the government to help curb the crisis impacting young people nationwide.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby had a tense exchange with a reporter who said some are accusing Kirby of trying to “undermine” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
With President Joe Biden and his posse allowing illegal immigrants to flood into the United States at unprecedented rates, Republican leaders are shipping some to Democrat-run cities, which has caused Biden to lash out.
Democrats are fine with illegal immigrants wreaking havoc on Republican states such as Florida and Texas. However, their lack of intolerance of diversity is clearly shown when they are faced with dealing with it.
GOP Governors Ron DeSantis (FL) and Greg Abbot (TX) have sent immigrants captured in their state to places like Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, and most recently, Martha’s Vineyard, where former president Barack Obama resides.
The Big Easy overtook St. Louis for the grim distinction of U.S. murder capital in the first half of 2022.

In a major breakthrough in the battle with the COVID-19 pandemic, Tel Aviv University researchers have isolated two antibodies that neutralize all known strains of COVID-19 – including Omicron – with up to 95% efficiency and will strengthen the immune systems of people at risk.
Targeted treatment with antibodies and their delivery to the body in high concentrations may serve as an effective substitute for vaccines, especially for at-risk populations and those with weakened immune systems, according to the researchers. By using antibody treatment, there is a possibility that the need to provide repeated booster shots to the entire population every time a new variant emerges will be eliminated.
The research was led by Dr. Natalia Freund and doctoral students Michael Mor and Ruofan Lee of the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine. The study was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Ben Croker of the University of California at San Diego. Also taking part in the study were Prof. Ye Xiang of Tsinghua University in Beijing, Prof. Meital Gal-Tanamy and Dr. Moshe Dessau of Bar-Ilan University.
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reported no major overnight incidents on Saturday, indicating that a ceasefire agreed after intense Friday fighting remained in effect, although Kyrgyz border guards said a village was briefly shelled.
The two former Soviet republics clashed over a border dispute this week, accusing each other of using tanks, mortars, rocket artillery and assault drones to attack nearby settlements.
Central Asian border issues largely stem from the Soviet era when Moscow tried to divide the region between groups whose settlements were often located amidst those of other ethnicities.
A small Dutch town took Twitter to court on Friday to demand the social media giant take down all messages relating to a supposed ring of Satan-worshipping pedophiles that was alleged to have been active in the town in the 1980s.
Bodegraven-Reeuwijk, a town of around 35,000 inhabitants in the middle of the Netherlands, has been the focus of conspiracy theories on social media since 2020, when three men started spreading unfounded stories about the abuse and murder of children they said took place in the town in the 1980s.
The main instigator of the stories said he had childhood memories of witnessing the abuse by a group of people in Bodegraven.
The stories caused much unrest in Bodegraven, as scores of followers of the men’s tweets flocked to the local graveyard to lay flowers and written messages at the graves of seemingly random dead children, who they claimed were victims of the satanic ring.
Tehran needs the removal of sanctions and guarantees from Washington to restore the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said.
“Removal of sanctions should be accompanied with the resolution of safeguards. There are some political and baseless accusations against Islamic Republic of Iran when it comes to safeguard issues,” Raisi told the Al Jazeera broadcaster on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Uzbek city of Samarkand.
The president noted that it is necessary to finalize these safeguard issues but it is not yet time to have face-to-face talks with the United States as Washington’s sincerity is questionable, according to Al Jazeera.
“Regarding the guarantees, if we have the trustworthy guarantees, and we have the lasting removal of the sanctions, not temporary removal of sanctions, and if there is a lasting solution for the safeguard issues, for sure it is possible to reach agreement,” Raisi added.
The JCPOA deal was sealed in 2015 by China, France, Germany, Iran, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union. Former US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran.

My Range Rover is 15 years old, but I never think of it as being particularly decrepit or dangerous.
Sure, it doesn’t have many of the features found on modern cars but here’s the funny thing: Thanks to the global shortage of microchips, a lot of modern cars don’t have many of those features either.
Today, a car has between 500 and 3,000 chips, which control almost everything from heating to braking.
And rather than stop the production lines until the effects of the pandemic end and chips become more widely available, car manufacturers are simply deleting systems that need them.
Ford dropped rear seat climate controls, BMW quietly stopped fitting touch-screen sat nav, Mercedes did away with wireless phone charging.
And now comes news that two factories that make the neon used in the production of chips are in Ukraine.
And are currently shut. So things are likely to get worse before they get better, which means that, in the coming months, more and more features will be deleted.
Soon, then, a new car will have a choke and a carburettor and drum brakes, and will be more dangerous and old fashioned than the 13-year-old rust bucket that you’re driving now.
It’s not all bad news, though, because electric cars use a vast amount of chips.
They even need them to operate the recharging systems.
Washington D.C. Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser complained Friday that the nation’s capital is not equipped for the influx of illegal immigrants being sent by red-state governors fed up with the porous Mexican border.
A strong earthquake struck southeastern Taiwan on Saturday evening, toppling objects from store shelves, collapsing a house and interrupting rail service on the island, but there were no immediate reports of deaths, media reported.
Taiwan’s Central News Agency said the 6.4 magnitude shallow quake was centered north of Taitung County on the island’s eastern shore.
It partially collapsed an uninhabited house in Hualien County, about 165 kilometers (100 miles) north along the coast, causing no casualties. The Taiwan Railways Administration said trains linking Hualien and Taitung had been temporarily halted and five other high speed rail services canceled until safety checks are performed.
Former Democratic House member Tulsi Gabbard scorched Vice President Kamala Harris for claiming the Mexican border is secure, saying the vice president “has no business being a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
