Thought for the day

"The masses have never thirsted after truth. They turn aside from evidence that is not to their taste, preferring to deify error, if error seduce them. Whoever can supply them w/illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim." -- Gustave Le Bon

The Democrats used the pandemic to cover up their socialist agenda. But now it seems that other more radical liberals, such as Governor Gavin Newsom, are refusing to let go.

Newsom has a bill on his desk that would cripple the medical field in California. The bill essentially forces doctors to accept the medical opinion of the state. Any deviation from the published narrative would immediately keep them from being able to practice medicine in the state.

Fox News reported, “The bill in question, AB 2098, would allow the Medical Board of California to revoke a doctor’s license to practice medicine in the state for expressing an opinion ‘contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care.’ The problem is that ‘contemporary scientific consensus’ has fluctuated wildly over the past two years.”

For obvious reasons, it’s hard to place a lot of faith in polls these days. In recent months, polling has claimed a wide range of outcomes for the upcoming Midterm elections.

Some polls predict a landslide victory for the Republican Party. That’s typical of Midterms when the party that’s opposite of the president’s tends to make large gains. Add to that President Joe Biden’s lackluster popularity, ongoing support for Donald Trump, the poor economy, crime, the border crisis, energy and education concerns, and many other problems; and some Republicans are feeling confident.

But other polls have found Republicans have lost their momentum and may realize few-to-no big wins. Add to that opposition to Donald Trump, concerns about restrictions on abortion, and media and big tech support for Democrats; and some Democrats are feeling hopeful.

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll may be worth examining from a predictive standpoint.

As usual, the pollsters interviewed a Democrat-heavy sample (though not as heavily-skewed left as many polls). Also possibly impacting the results, according to one respondent, the pollsters asked to survey “the youngest female in the household,” and— if no female was said to be in the household— asked to survey “the youngest male in the household” to answer the poll questions.

That thing that many of you have worried about, and some of you have prepared for — well, it’s here. We’re in it now.

Historians of the future, grilling spatchcocked plovers over their campfires, will need not ponder for even a New York minute who started World War Three in the rockin’ 2020s. They will point straight to the waxy, furtive, larval figure known as “Joe Biden,” by then judged a moral weevil of such epic low degree that he became an embarrassment to all the other sewer-dwelling denizens of the dank DC underworld, including the roaches, the rats, the humble shipworms eating through sunk oaken foundations of buildings long forgotten, the writhing maggots rinsed from a thousand restaurant dumpsters, the slithering hellgrammites, millipedes, silverfish, pillbugs, termites, dung-beetles, woodlice, and, not least, the scaly lawyers spawned out of the infestation beneath K Street called Perkins Coie LLP. Even these would loathe and disdain the thing that came into this world as “Joe Biden.”

Let us agree that the place called Ukraine was never any of America’s business. For centuries we ignored it, through all the colorful cavalry charges to-and-fro of Turks and Tatars, the reign of the dashing Zaporozhian Cossacks, the cruel abuses of Stalin, then Hitler, and the dull, gray Khrushchev-to-Yeltsin years. But then, having destroyed Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia and sundry other places all on a great hegemonic lark, the professional warmongers of our land and their catamites in Washington made Ukraine their next special project.  They engineered the 2014 coup in Kiev that ousted the elected president, Mr. Yanyukovich, to set up a giant grifting parlor and international money-laundromat. The other strategic aim was to prepare Ukraine for NATO membership, which would have made it, in effect, a forward missile base right up against Russia’s border. Because, well, Russia, Russia, Russia!

20 vaccine injured travelled to Washington DC to meet with lawmakers and the FDA. Peter Marks was too busy to meet with them in person, so they met on a 1-hour zoom call.

Basically, they thanked the 20 people for sharing their stories. From the article:

“The data is not sufficiently robust,” Dr. Peter Marks said repeatedly. “With these low rates, it’s very hard to know what you’re looking at.” The word “rare” was used, and, of course, the phrase “1 in a million.”

And then there was this: “That’s not to say we won’t continue to look.”

While the U.S. dollar has soared in value against a basket of worldwide fiat currencies, Russia’s ruble climbed 4.5% against the greenback this week. During the first week of September, Russia told the press China would pay for natural gas with rubles and yuan. Moreover, Switzerland’s imports of Russian gold reached a high not seen since April 2020.

The Greenback Is Soaring, but Russia’s Ruble Is Also Rising Higher

This week the U.S. Dollar Currency Index (DXY) skyrocketed to new heights leaving a great number of fiat currencies worldwide badly bruised. For instance, two days ago, the European Union’s euro tapped a 20-year low against the U.S. dollar dropping to $0.973 on Friday.

Presently, the euro is even lower at $0.9690, and it is down 2.82% against the greenback during the past 30 days. 30-day statistics indicate the yen is down 4.72%, the sterling pound shed 8.17%, and the Canadian dollar lost 4.78%. The Chinese yuan breached a 7:1 exchange rate against the U.S. dollar for the first time in two years.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is back in the news again with allegations of thuggery and lying to a judge.

Under the microscope is an infuriating scheme that involves the search and seizure of massive amounts of private money and assets from random safety deposit boxes last year in Beverly Hills.

Even for those who have studied the FBI over the years, this latest episode by the Bureau appears to be little more than organized thievery.

Powerful Democrat Representative Jerry Nadler was reportedly convinced the process behind the first impeachment trial of Donald Trump was “unconstitutional” and tried warning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and fellow Rep. Adam Schiff, only to be rebuffed.

The extraordinary accounting comes from excerpts of a new book titled, “Unchecked: The Untold Story Behind Congress’s Botched Impeachments of Donald Trump.”

Fox News, which obtained the excerpts, reports that Nadler had issues with how Schiff (D-CA) was planning to run impeachment proceedings, particularly concerned that the then-President was not being afforded due process.

Farm attacks are on the rise again and the brutality of the attacks is disturbing.

The brutality of recent murders of a farmer from Waterval-Boven (just to steal his bakkie) and a farmer from Delmas is extremely worrying.

“One farm attack or murder is one too many. On behalf of TLU SA, we express our condolences to Gideon Swart’s family and friends. His brother Ruben farms on a neighbouring farm and is a TLU SA member. The family of the Delmas farmer is also in our prayers,” says Dr Gawie Lötter, TLU SA Manager: Safety.

“We are not only seeing an increase in farm attacks and murders, but also an escalation in the brutality of the incidents. With the attacks, there are cases of livestock theft, the theft of farm equipment and the theft of weapons that end up in the wrong hands. The latter is especially dangerous.”

Since 1990, 2203 farm murders have been reported. By September 27, there are already 33 murders for 2022 on the record book.

There is a clear increase in farm attacks. In June there were two farm murders, but since then the numbers have been increasing. There were seven in July and already six in September.

The historic election of a conservative pro-family government and the nation’s first female prime minister in Italy on Sunday is already causing shockwaves across globalist and abortionist factions in Europe. The French prime minister has threatened that the leadership of the EU will stand “vigilant” against the coalition’s elective abortion agenda.

Election results from Italy indicate the government will be formed from a coalition of three nationalist and conservative political parties led by the Fratelli D’Italia (Brothers of Italy) and its head, Giorgia Meloni. She is expected to soon become the first woman to serve as Italy’s prime minister.

I've had my Apple Watch Series 7 for a little under a year.

It's the fourth Apple Watch that I've owned. But this time around I decided to do something different.

Encouraged by Apple's promotional material for the Apple Watch Series 7, and the ruggedness of the display, I decided to not put it in a case.

I mean, take a look at this promotional video. Apple really made a big deal of the durability of the display.

Webmaster addition: I use an iWatch 5, and maybe it's my sedate lifestyle, but my display is fine, and so is Claire's.

I know, I know. Fall just started. If you're the type who longs for the days of pumpkin spice everything, breaking out the sweatshirts and sitting around the fire pit on a cool autumn night after sweating it out during the hot and humid summer days we suffer through every year in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois, I imagine you just want to enjoy these days now that they're finally here and not put any thought into what may come once they're over. I totally get that, and you should. However, I'm the type who thinks it's good to know what's coming so we can try and prepare accordingly. And, if what the National Weather Service is forecasting this winter for our region plays out as they think it could, we need to be prepared with our snow shovels in hand.

The Fed has talked a big game lately. Many people (including me) assumed the Fed would fold a long time ago. There is a very good reason — the Fed will crush the economy and the US Treasury with higher interest rates.

In reality, the Fed is holding a losing hand and trying to bluff its way to victory.

The following analysis is by SchiffGold’s data analyst.

So far, the Fed has defied the skeptics, stuck to its guns, and pressed forward. Despite the hawkish stance, we can actually still be sure the Fed is bluffing.

Everyone knows that at some point the higher interest rates will prove catastrophic. Putting a precise timeline on it is difficult, but also not impossible. Someone can actually run the numbers and see when the Fed will be forced to show their cards. So that’s what I did.

How?

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday that the United States is ready to welcome Russians currently fleeing Putin's "unpopular" war and can grant them asylum.

"We believe that regardless of their nationality, they may apply for asylum in the United States and have their claim educated on a case by case basis," she said. This as there are continued reports of "total chaos" at some key border crossings leaving Russia, particularly at the Georgian border.

So much for the "coup in China" and "Xi is missing" rumor mill of the past week, which at one point saw Chinese President Xi Jinping's name trending high on Twitter...

"Chinese President Xi Jinping visited an exhibition in Beijing on Tuesday, according to state television, in his first public appearance since returning to China from an official trip to Central Asia in mid-September – dispelling unverified rumours that he was under house arrest."

He had arrived in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on September 15 - and attended the days-long Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit - where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others.

Norway has displaced Russia as Europe's top natural gas supplier as energy supply chains are rejiggered. According to Daily Mail, being the biggest supplier to the energy-stricken continent comes with risks, as the Scandinavian country's oil and gas rigs in the North Sea have been buzzed by mysterious drones.

The country's Petroleum Safety Authority warned these mysterious drones could unleash "deliberate attacks" on critical energy infrastructure and or even smash into a helicopter on an offshore oil rig to wreak havoc.

Energy minister Terje Aasland explained the government is "increasing security at infrastructure sites, land terminals and platforms on the Norwegian continental shelf."

Drones have buzzed at least six of Norwegian energy giant Equinor's offshore platforms, coming within the security perimeter of 500 meters. One drone flew within 50 meters of the Heidrun platform in the Norwegian Sea. The company notified authorities of drone sightings.

"The Scandinavian country has a vast network of pipelines linking it to the continent, which experts have said are at risk of sabotage," Daily Mail said.

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday touted that newly prepared EU sanctions will "make the Kremlin pay" for conducting its "sham" referendums in occupied Ukraine. Russian media the evening prior declared a sweep in favor of four regions joining the Russian Federation - including Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. President Putin is expected to announce their integration into Russia in a Friday speech.

"We do not accept the sham referenda and any kind of annexation in Ukraine, and we are determined to make the Kremlin pay for this further escalation," von der Leyen told a scheduled press briefing in Brussels.

She announced a proposed eighth round of sanctions in a package that includes an expanded ban on Russian products and key technology, particularly out of Russia's aviation, electronics, and chemical products sectors. The new package when implemented is "expected to deprive Moscow of an additional 7 billion euros ($6.7 billion) in revenues," according to the EC chief's announcement.

President Biden's latest gaffe - no not the pedophile one -  was quite the doozy.

While reading remarks during a White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, Biden asked if the late Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) was in attendance.

Walorski was tragically killed in a car crash last month.

"I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan elected officials like Rep. McGovern, Sen. Braun, Sen. Booker, Rep. — Jackie, are you here?" Biden said. "Where's Jackie? I thought she was going to be here — to help make this a reality."

President Biden's reckless draining of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is nothing more than an election-year gimmick akin to using a 'credit card' to buy votes, according to Tim Stewart, president of the US Oil and Gas Association.

According to data from the Department of Energy, stocks of crude oil in the SPR hit their lowest levels since 1984 for the week ending Sept. 16.

An FBI whistleblower submitted a complaint to the Office of Special Counsel alleging that the federal agency and Department of Justice (DoJ) have violated constitutional rights of Jan. 6 defendants by misusing SWAT teams to make misdemeanor arrests.

Special Agent Stephen M. Friend informed the US Office of Special Counsel, a permanent independent federal investigative and prosecutorial agency, about alleged violations by the bureau and DoJ in a whistleblower complaint obtained by US media outlet Just the News earlier this week. Friend works for the FBI in Florida and serves as a SWAT team member.

“I believed the investigations were inconsistent with FBI procedure and resulted in the violation of citizens’ Sixth and Eighth Amendment rights,” Friend wrote. “I added that many of my colleagues expressed similar concerns to me but had not vocalized their objections to FBI Executive Management.”

In particular, Friend cited an inappropriate use of SWAT teams to arrest subjects for misdemeanor offenses related to the January 6 protests in DC. According to the complaint, the agent suggested alternatives such as “the issuance of a court summons or utilizing surveillance groups to determine an optimal, safe time for a local sheriff deputy to contact the subjects and advise them about the existence of the arrest warrant.”

Nonetheless, one of Friend’s bosses told him that “FBI executive management considered all potential alternatives and determined the SWAT takedown was the appropriate course of action.”

White House officials are weighing the possible departure of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen after the November elections as part of a Cabinet shake-up, according to a report.

The decision is not final and is expected to hinge on the outcome of the midterm elections, sources familiar with the matter told Axios. Yellen’s successor will need to be confirmed by the Senate, posing a challenge if the Republican Party takes control of the upper chamber.

Officials are also considering whether Brian Deese, the director of the National Economic Council, could leave in the new year, according to the outlet.

CHICAGO (AP) — The gun-maker Smith & Wesson illegally targeted young men at risk of violence with ads for firearms — including the 22-year-old gunman accused of opening fire on an Independence Day parade in suburban Chicago and killing seven people, according to several lawsuits filed Wednesday in Illinois.

The lawsuits filed by people wounded while attending the Highland Park parade and the estates of several victims are the latest bid by victims of mass shootings to hold gun manufacturers accountable, despite broad protections for the industry in federal law.

Liz Turnipseed is among those filing lawsuits in Lake County on Wednesday against the gun manufacturer, the accused shooter and his father, along with two gun sellers.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Turnipseed said she had recently arrived at the parade with her husband and 3-year-old daughter, pointing out to the girl instruments in the high school band. She fell to the ground after being shot in the pelvis and remembers seeing her daughter’s stroller on its side and asking her husband to get their daughter to safety.
