Thought for the day
"The executive power in our government is not the only, perhaps not even the principal, object of my solicitude. The tyranny of the legislature is really the danger most to be feared, and will continue to be so for many years to come. The tyranny of the executive power will come in its turn, but at a more distant period." -- Thomas Jefferson, Democracy in America
Hurricane Ian is off the coast of Florida where it regained strength on a track toward South Carolina, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane warnings are in effect for the entire coast of South Carolina, with watches extending in Georgia and North Carolina. Ian is forecast to make landfall just north of Charleston, according to the Thursday evening hurricane center update.
Here’s the latest forecast track including the so-called “spaghetti models,” which show the range of possible tracks based on various computer models:
After Russia launched its counteroffensive against NATO aggression, the state and corporate-run mainstream media of the political West started spreading multiple false narratives about it. One of the most common themes was that the Russian military supposedly “failed” because the Kiev regime didn’t collapse in a matter of days.
In the following months, especially after the Russian forces withdrew from northern areas of Ukraine, this was used to further reinforce the narrative that the Russian military was somehow “defeated”. However, the truth lies in the Russian military and geopolitical nomenclature regarding the events in Ukraine. While the political West is unanimous in calling it “an unprovoked, brutal invasion”, the Russian side calls it a special military operation.
Although the wording may seem irrelevant, it does have serious implications. The whole operation has been limited from the start. As Russian President Vladimir Putin himself stated, Moscow didn’t really show more than a fraction of its capabilities. And indeed, given the number of Russian troops initially engaged in the special military operation, which was approximately 100-150 thousand, versus more than 200,000 troops of the Kiev regime, it’s clear that Moscow never expected to take control of the entire territory of Ukraine. In addition, the Kiev regime forces exponentially grew in size after the forced mobilization of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men. And although Western media are trying to downplay it, multiple estimates put the number of conscripted personnel anywhere between several hundred thousand and nearly a million soldiers.

Regardless of one’s views on transgenderism, the notion of a children’s hospital irreversibly mutilating the bodies of young children is abhorrent child abuse at its worst and should be subject to criminal bans and criminal prosecution — as should all instances of so-called “transgender surgery” on children.
Short of being criminally charged but a step in the right direction, an Oklahoma pediatric hospital will stop offering some gender-related medical services after the state threatened to pull millions of dollars in funding. Oklahoma Children’s Hospital announced Tuesday it is planning to halt “certain gender medicine services” in order to keep funding for its new pediatric mental health facility.
A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Anna Gabrielian, age 36, and her husband, Jamie Lee Henry, age 39, both of Rockville, Maryland, with conspiracy and for the disclosure of individually identifiable health information (“IIHI”), related to their efforts to assist Russia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. The indictment was returned on September 28, 2022 and unsealed today upon the arrest of the defendants.
Gabrielian is scheduled to have initial appearance at 11:30 a.m. today, in U.S. District Court in Baltimore before U.S. Magistrate Judge Brendan A. Hurson. Henry is also expected to have an initial appearance today, although a time has not yet been set.
The indictment was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron and Special Agent in Charge Thomas J. Sobocinski of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office.
This case involves a multi-year fight by attorney Ty Clevenger to obtain records relating to the FBI/DOJ investigation of Seth Rich, particularly whether Rich was involved in the hack of the DNC or had communicated with Wikileaks.
This fight dates back to 2017 and includes two FOIA lawsuit. In the first lawsuit, the FBI produced no responsive documents. The parties knew the FBI had something, and so this sparked a second lawsuit – where the FBI somehow found 20,000 pages of potentially responsive documents.
Belarus has allegedly threatened to deploy 100,000 troops in Ukraine unless Kyiv withdraws its forces from the ‘new Russian territories’ after the referendums.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the Belarus government in Minsk today, Thursday, September 29, announced that unless Kyiv withdraws all of its military forces from the four new regions of Russia, it will deploy 100,000 troops in Ukraine.
They were referring of course to the four occupied regions of Ukraine where the recent ‘referendums’ were held in which people allegedly voted to join the Russian Federation. They also revealed that railway stations and airports in the country are being prepared for recruiting citizens into the military.
An analysis of reports in a database run by the CDC and the FDA found 648 cases of side effects in breastfed infants whose mothers received the COVID-19 vaccine, including three deaths.
Health authorities in the United States, Israel and around the world recommended the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for pregnant and lactating women despite the lack of clinical studies or animal safety studies for that demographic.
THE HUMAN GENOME is made of more than 6 billion letters, and each person has a unique configuration of As, Cs, Gs, and Ts—the molecular building blocks that make up DNA. Determining the sequence of all those letters used to take vast amounts of money, time, and effort. The Human Genome Project took 13 years and thousands of researchers. The final cost: $2.7 billion.
That 1990 project kicked off the age of genomics, helping scientists unravel genetic drivers of cancer and many inherited diseases while spurring the development of at-home DNA tests, among many other advances. Next, researchers started sequencing more genomes: from animals, plants, bacteria, and viruses. Ten years ago, it cost about $10,000 for researchers to sequence a human genome. A few years ago, that fell to $1,000. Today, it’s about $600.
Scientists have discovered new evidence that suggests there could be liquid water on Mars – a breakthrough in our longtime efforts to determine if the Red Planet once hosted life.
The University of Cambridge-led study provides the first independent evidence that uses data other than radar that there’s liquid water beneath Mars’ south polar ice cap.
Dr. Frances Butcher, second author of the study from the University of Sheffield, said in a statement: ‘This study gives the best indication yet that there is liquid water on Mars today because it means that two of the key pieces of evidence we would look for when searching for subglacial lakes on Earth have now been found on Mars.’

‘Liquid water is an essential ingredient for life, although it does not necessarily mean that life exists on Mars,’ he added in his statement.

One of the producers of My Son Hunter has reportedly filed an ethics complaint with the State Bar of California against Hunter Biden’s attorney Kevin Morris, alleging the lawyer posed as a documentary filmmaker to infiltrate the movie set in order to spy for his client.
In the complaint, which was first reported by the New York Post, producer Phelim McAleer claims Kevin Morris flew on a private jet in November to Serbia, where the Hunter Biden movie was being filmed, and pretended he was an independent documentary filmmaker producing content for “South Park streaming.” (Morris has also represented the co-creators of Comedy Central’s South Park).
“Kevin Morris was Hunter Biden’s lawyer who used deception and misrepresentation to spy on a movie project about his client to gather information to help his client,” the complaint reportedly alleges.
In recent years, opioids, frequently produced by the communist Chinese and trafficked by illegal aliens, have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. Extra to promoting this tragic loss of life, a new congressional report indicates that the opioid crisis is also taking a profound economic toll.
Americans have a curious fascination with serial killers, evidenced by the popularity of television dramas like "Criminal Minds" and intense interest in the real-life stories of Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and David Berkowitz.
The founders of the leftist group Occupy Democrats are having to defend some recent financial decisions after a curious Twitter and YouTube user publicly disclosed details about alleged allocations of the organization's funding.
An audit issued by the Treasury inspector general for tax administration last week reviewed the accuracy of child tax credit disbursements made by the IRS between July and November 2021. The report found that the organization sent more than $1.1 billion in payments to ineligible taxpayers and failed to send another $3.7 billion to eligible taxpayers.
House Democrats introduced the so-called "Combatting Financial Conflicts of Interest in Government Act" on Tuesday, which would ban federal personnel from trading stocks. The legislation has been presented as a potential remedy to previously reported conflicts of interests on the Hill and as a means to prevent more abuses from taking place in the future.
Oklahoma Children's Hospital, part of the Oklahoma University Health system, plans to halt "certain gender medicine services," OU Health said in a statement to the Daily Caller on Tuesday.
A mob of kids, some as young as 10 years old, ransacked a Philadelphia Wawa store. Surveillance cameras captured the crime. The Twitter feed Libs of TikTok posted the footage four days ago. Tucker Carlson aired the content Tuesday night on his popular show.
Big corporations, including Dyson, Mazda, Forbes, and PBS Kids, stated that they paused online marketing campaigns on Twitter after learning some advertisements appeared next to accounts and tweets associated with child sexual exploitation.

In President Joe Biden's first extended sit-down with a professional journalist in over 200 days, the 79-year-old commander-in-chief was confronted with a question on the minds of many Americans.
'Some people ask whether you are fit for the job,' asked '60 Minutes' Scott Pelley, 'And when you hear that, I wonder what you think.'
This is Google's Quantum AI laboratory, where dozens of super-smart people labor in an office kitted out with climbing walls and electric bikes to shape the next generation of computers -- a generation that will be unlike anything users currently have in their pockets or offices.
"It is a new type of computer that uses quantum mechanics to do computations and allows us... to solve problems that would otherwise be impossible," explains Erik Lucero, lead engineer at the campus near Santa Barbara.
"It's not going to replace your mobile phone, your desktop; it's going to be working in parallel with those things."
Quantum mechanics is a field of research that scientists say could be used one day to help limit global warming, design city traffic systems or develop powerful new drugs.

As shock waves, initially engendered by the revelations of abuse in the high-profile conservatorship of pop star Britney Spears, begin to subside, another guardianship case has emerged of equally disturbing proportions. Seated in Nevada, this case reveals a level of relentlessness by the state as it strives to imprison two men who attempted to free a woman from a nursing home.
A writ of habeus corpus is circulating concerning the felony charges against Roger Hillygus and his associate, former Mineral County Sheriff and 30-year law enforcement veteran Stewart Handte. The charges stemmed from their trip to Stone Valley Alzheimer’s Special Care Center on August 8, 2019 and their subsequently escorting Susan Hillygus out of the facility, where her guardian had forcibly and non consensually placed her.
Handte was originally arrested in August of 2019 and released without bail. Initially charged with a number of felonies, the charges against him were subsequently reduced to a sole charge of “conspiracy.” Handte was rearrested on January 19, 2022 after apparently failing to adhere to an order to wear a GPS monitoring device and after allegedly violating a gag order, denying him any rights to discuss the case against him and against Roger Hillygus. The gag order was signed by Judge Barry Breslow. Stewart Handte has been in Washoe County Jail for over 80 days, subsequent to his re- arrest on January 19 and pending a possible trial in July of 2022.
In a hearing last week, Judge Breslow refused to lower Handte’s $50,000 bail, which Handte is unable to pay. As Handte has no prior convictions and as he is charged with a “crime” that does not entail violence, the amount of bail appears contrary to Nevada guidelines. Handte has medical problems which are reportedly not being addressed in jail.
Webmaster addition: UPDATE - Right after this article was published, the judge lowered Handter's bail and he has been released, although he still faces charges.
President Biden warned that the U.S. could follow Italy's path after it elected right wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni last week.
'You just saw what's happened in Italy in that election,' Biden said Wednesday evening at a fundraiser for the Democratic Governors' Association at a home in Washington, D.C.. 'You're seeing what's happening around the world. The reason I bother to say that is you can't be sanguine about what's happening here, either. I don't want to exaggerate it, but I don't want to understate it.'
Meloni, Italy's first-ever female prime minister and first far-right leader since World War II, won the high office with about 26 percent of the vote.
Americans could literally be drowning in a morass of a physical, cultural, and economic flood, but McConnell and the GOP elites would toss the last remaining lifeline to Ukraine. Not only are Americans placed last, they simply don’t matter to American politicians in both parties.
Rachel Vindman, who on Tuesday posted a tweet jokingly suggesting that people should refer to Hurricane Ian using "they/them pronouns" in a bid to irritate GOP Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, has announced that she deleted the tweet "because it was offensive to the trans community."
The permanently discontented co-hosts of "The View" nitpicked how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is responding to Hurricane Ian after the Republican governor thanked President Joe Biden for lending aid to his state.
