The US has cast the lone dissenting vote against a proposed UN Security Council resolution that would have demanded a humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, amid rising civilian casualties in Gaza.

The son of President Joe Biden has been indicted on nine counts regarding his tax returns. This case is related to claims by the IRS and investigators that Hunter failed to pay taxes over a period of years.

On the night of December 8, the Russian military launched another massive attack on Ukrainian military facilities throughout the country. According to the Ukrainian military, 7 Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers launched 19 X-101 and X-555 missiles.

Heavy explosions thundered in the capital of Ukraine. At least 5 Russian missiles struck the city of Kharkiv, and another hit a target in the region. The town is located in a lowland, so encirclement from several directions gives Russian troops a significant advantage and increases Ukrainian losses.

The Russians are finishing the mop up operation on the southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut, in the gardens. They also recently gained a foothold on one of the dominant heights west of Kleshcheyevka and began strikes on the supply routes of the Ukrainian grouping, preparing to expand their zone of control.

Hezbollah’s Military Media has released video footage documenting an attack that targeted the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Mitat barracks on the border with Lebanon on December 8.

The barracks was targeted with an anti-tank guided missile, most likely the thermobaric version of the Russian-made Kornet or an Iranian copy of it. The missile destroyed much of the barracks and started a fire. Hebrew media reported that two soldiers were wounded.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) is facing fierce resistance from Palestinian armed factions while advancing in the Gaza Strip.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, and the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, both released videos on December 8 showing their fighters clashing with Israeli troops in Gaza City and targeting several main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers and bulldozers.

On December 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense summed up the preliminary result of the ongoing military operations in Ukraine. Over the past week, December 3-8, ‘the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation completed a number of tasks and destroyed personnel, military equipment, weapons, and ammunition depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in different regions.

In the Kupyansk region, the Ukrainian army lost more than 480 soldiers in a week. Losses in equipment included 3 tanks, 13 armored vehicles, 12 cars, and 7 artillery units. Our troops managed to improve the situation on the front line and repel 19 attacks launched by Ukrainian forces.

10 attacks of the Ukrainian assault groups were repelled in the Krasny Liman region. More than 1,445 soldiers, 11 armored vehicles, 17 cars, 5 artillery pieces were illuminated in the area.

During the battles in the Donetsk direction, the total losses of the Ukrainian army amounted to more than 1,560 servicemen, 12 armored vehicles, 17 vehicles and 22 field artillery units.

Special Counsel David Weiss unveiled nine federal tax-related charges against Hunter Biden on Thursday more than four months after a plea deal was derailed by a federal judge.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is investigating whether the 51 former intelligence officials who signed the infamous Hunter Biden laptop letter were paid by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

After Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop surfaced during the 2020 election, more than 50 former intelligence officials signed a letter in Politico saying the computer “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” In a letter to CIA Director William Burns on Monday, Jordan, who leads the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, demanded the CIA chief come clean about the agency’s alleged involvement in branding the laptop as Russian disinformation, which plainly amounted to election interference.

“We understand that former intelligence officials often return to the intelligence community under private contract for their previous agencies,” Jordan wrote. “It is vital to the Committees’ oversight to understand whether any of the signatories of the public statement were actively employed by CIA as contractors or consultants at the time they signed the public statement.”

“If so,” Jordan added, “this information would raise fundamental concerns about the role of the CIA as it pertains to the October 19, 2020, ‘Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails’ signed and published by 51 former intelligence community officials in the weeks preceding the 2020 presidential election.”
