Eight Democrat-nominated judges shoved transgender surgery closer to becoming a constitutional right via their decision Monday in a federal appeals court.

No Democrat-nominated judges voted with the six Republican-nominated judges who strenuously denounced the court’s decision, further demonstrating how transgenderism has quickly become a litmus test for ambitious progressives in the Democratic Party.

House lawmakers on Wednesday shot down a proposal to re-authorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a measure that would allow the FBI to secretly spy on Americans without warrants.

The bill sought to allow intelligence officials to use an FBI database to conduct surveillance of non-U.S. citizens overseas. However, critics argue that the bill does not protect the privacy of U.S. citizens and that the agency can also collect data from U.S. citizens who communicate with non-U.S. targets.

The bill was blocked in a 193-228 vote, with a total of 19 House Republicans voting against it.

Section 702 of FISA is scheduled to expire on April 19, the question of whether it will be reauthorized arose, leading to the vote. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who backed the measure, has said that lawmakers will “regroup and reformulate another plan” to protect the measure.

Johnson had urged the House to pass the proposal lest another extension of it be passed in the Senate, in which case the House would be forced to sign off on it with very little time to negotiate a new plan.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) said on Thursday that the encampment protest in Columbia University was “completely peaceful” contrary to what is being portrayed on social media.

The lawmaker made the claims during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight,” saying, “We want the protests to be peaceful. We do not want violent protests. I visited the Columbia encampment last week, and they were completely peaceful. There was a space for mental health supports, there was a library, there was food, there was coffee, there was water, and they were crystal clear on their demands. They are protesting the collective punishment of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.”

He then suggested that law enforcement were the ones that introduced disorder to the demonstrations.

In his words: “Some of the images that we saw from UCLA and other places made it look like a bunch of disorder. But the majority of these protests are peaceful. When you send in hundreds of military-dressed law enforcement officers into a college, that brings the disorder and that brings the chaos.”

Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump seized on a mistake by special counsel Jack Smith's office on Friday, which admitted it mishandled classified documents that Trump stands accused of mishandling.

Smith's federal prosecutors conceded in a court filing Friday that the documents seized from Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 are not in the same order they previously said.

Prosecutors said the current jumbled nature of the documents is "inconsistent" with their previous assertions — that the boxes of docs remained "in their original, intact form as seized."

Brown University caved to the demands of anti-Israel protesters this week. The university’s leadership has promised to consider voting on divestment from Israel, one of the protesters’ main demands, if they agree to take down their encampment on campus which began last Wednesday.

Brown would be the first university to consider divesting from Israel as protesters have made the demand in their demonstrations in universities across the United States for weeks.

Brown’s highest governing body, the Corporation, will hold a vote on the issue at its meeting in October. In return for the consideration, organizers of the protest at the school campus agreed to clear the Main Green encampment by 5 p.m. on May 3 and cease their demonstrations until the end of the school year. They are to not hold any unauthorized protests till Commencement, which would end on May 26.

Israel could offer to share control over Gaza, after the war currently devastating the Palestinian enclave ends, with the US and a coalition of Arab nations, the New York Times has reported, citing officials.

In a report on Friday, the paper cited anonymous sources who claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is avoiding detailed public discussions about Gaza’s post-war future, but that behind the scenes officials have been developing an “expansive plan.”

Three Israeli officials, and five people who have discussed the proposal with the Israeli government, told the NYT that the Jewish state would offer to share oversight of Gaza with the US and three Arab countries – Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

U.S. military recruiters are teaching in public school classrooms, making presentations at school career days, coordinating with JROTC units in high schools and middle schools, volunteering as sports coaches and tutors and lunch buddies in high, middle, and elementary schools, showing up in humvees with $9,000 stereos, bringing fifth-graders to military bases for hands-on science instruction, and generally pursuing what they call “total market penetration” and “school ownership.”

But counter-recruiters all over the United States are making their own presentations in schools, distributing their own information, picketing recruiting stations, and working through courts and legislatures to reduce military access to students and to prevent military testing or the sharing of test results with the military without students’ permission. This struggle for hearts and minds has had major successes and could spread if more follow the counter-recruiters’ example.

A new book by Scott Harding and Seth Kershner called Counter-Recruitment and the Campaign to Demilitarize Public Schools surveys the current counter-recruitment movement, its history, and its possible future. Included is a fairly wide range of tactics. Many involve one-on-one communication with potential recruits.

“Do you like fireworks?” a veteran of the latest war on Iraq may ask a student in a high school cafeteria. “Yes!” Well, replies Hart Viges, “you won’t when you get back from war.”

On watch air defense systems destroyed four ATACMS operational-tactical missiles fired by the Ukrainian Armed Forces over Crimea, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported. “Over the past night, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using American ATACMS operational-tactical missiles against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped,” the department said. Vladimir Putin's Inauguration is on May 7, so these NATO cowards will continue their efforts to spoil it.

Any Western-backed Ukrainian attack against Russia’s Crimean Bridge or Crimea itself will be met with a powerful revenge strike from Moscow, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

The warning follows a recent post by Ukraine’s envoy to the UN, Sergey Kislitsa, which had a threatening tone, implying that the bridge connecting the Russian peninsula to the Krasnodar Region will not be standing by the end of the year.

According to Zakharova, Kiev is openly preparing for a new attack on the Crimean Bridge, with the support of the West. She told a press briefing on Friday that, on the eve of May 9, Russia’s annual Great Victory Day commemorating the Soviet defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945, “the Kiev regime and its Western masters are hatching plans for new terrorist attacks on Russian territory.”

“I would like to again warn Washington, London, Brussels, that any aggressive actions against Crimea are not only doomed to failure, but will also be met with a retaliatory blow,” the diplomat said.

German defense company Hensoldt announced on May 3 that it will supply Ukraine with six more TRML-4D radars by the end of the year.

The new radars are part of an order package worth over 100 million euros [$107 million], the company said in a statement, without clarifying where the money is actually coming from.

“Our radars are urgently needed by Ukrainian air defense, and we are proud to be able to deliver all the systems this year,” CEO of Hensoldt Oliver Dörre said. “The feedback from our customers confirms how important the rapid availability of the radars is for the protection of their citizens.”

The TRML-4D is a surveillance and target acquisition active electronically scanned array radar with a maximum range of 250 kilometers and the ability to track up to 1,500 targets at the same time. The radar can also differentiate various types of air targets, focusing on high-speed and low-flying cruise missiles, as well as fighter jets and helicopters.

Canadian military sources believe Kearney is being court-martialed now because the Canadian government’s policy to finance, arm, train, plan, and direct Ukrainian operations against Russia is being defeated, and that the military collapse east of Kiev now risks loss of more territory and the lives of Canadians currently working in the Ukraine and at cross-border bases in Poland and Romania. At least one thousand Canadians have been counted by the Russian Defense Ministry on the battlefield since the start of the Special Military Operation; by March of this year, 422 had been confirmed killed in action.

Ukrainian information resources report with regret that countries of the Global South are massively refusing to participate in the so-called peace conference on Ukraine, scheduled for mid-June in Switzerland. This is due to Russia’s influence on the countries of the region and the state of affairs at the front.

According to the Resident telegram channel, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has been tasked with attracting as many countries cooperating with Russia as possible to participate in the summit. However, the deteriorating situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front does not allow the Foreign Ministry to realize what it wants.

Our source in the president's office said that countries of the Global South began to massively refuse to participate in the peace conference in Switzerland due to the situation at the front and the influence of Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is trying under any pretext to lure world leaders to the conference, but the defeats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front negatively affect the situation

If you’re just tuning in, it might seem odd to you that a major news outlet would publish a story about the emotions that some Israelis are feeling about foreign protests against an active genocide being committed by their country. After all, this is not a news story. A story about how some people’s feelings are feeling is not news, and is not journalism.

But that’s exactly what the last seven months have looked like in the imperial media: a nonstop fixation on feelings instead of facts. Israelis have upset feelings about anti-genocide protests. Western Jews have upset feelings at campus demonstrators. Biden has upset feelings at Netanyahu. Last October the imperial media suddenly got a lot less interested in reporting on the facts on the ground with Israel and Gaza, and a whole lot more interested in reporting on how some groups of people feel about it instead.

Western reporters, pundits, politicians and officials cannot stop talking about this. The feelings of Israelis and western Jews are not only given more importance than the feelings of Palestinians or any other group, they are given more importance than Palestinian lives. Some Zionist kid pretending to feel “threatened” on an Ivy League campus will get more coverage than the daily massacres that have been occurring in the densely-packed city of Rafah.

NATO’s largest exercise since the Cold War are being held near Russia's border, indicating that the US-led bloc is “seriously preparing” for a potential conflict with Moscow, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

The Steadfast Defender drills, featuring some 90,000 troops from all 32 NATO member states and 1,100 combat vehicles, started in late January and will end in May.

According to the wargame scenario, “the coalition's actions against Russia are being practiced using all the instruments, including hybrid and conventional weapons,” Zakharova said in a statement on Saturday.

We have to admit that NATO is seriously preparing for a ‘potential conflict’ with us,” Zakharova said.
