Thought for the day

"Silence, they say, is the voice of complicity. But silence is impossible. Silence screams. Silence is a message, just as doing nothing is an act. Let who you are ring out & resonate in every word & every deed. Yes, become who you are. There's no sidestepping your own being or your own responsibility. What you do is who you are. You are your own comeuppance. You become your own message. You are the message." -- Leonard Peltier

A new forensic investigation has concluded that an Israeli sniper would have seen that Shireen Abu Akleh was a member of the press when she was shot and killed.

The Israeli military killed the Palestinian-American journalist in May while covering an Israeli military raid in the Palestinian city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

Previously unseen footage put together by Forensic Architecture and Al-Haq's Forensic Architecture Investigation Unit reveals new evidence that builds on findings by other investigations, including the UN findings, which concluded that Israeli forces fired the fatal bullet that killed Abu Akleh.

"Shireen and her colleagues were deliberately and repeatedly targeted," the new forensic analysis concluded.

"Our analysis of the shots' impact points confirms their close proximity to one another, indicating precise and careful aim. All shots were fired above the shoulders, revealing an intent to kill," the team behind the investigation found.

European Parliament members investigating the use of surveillance spyware by European Union governments sharply criticized Israel on Wednesday for a lack of transparency in allowing the sale of powerful Israeli spyware to European governments that have used it against critics.

The European lawmakers also condemned the Polish government for refusing to meet with them during a fact-finding visit to Warsaw that ended Wednesday.

“It is regrettable and we condemn the fact that the Polish authorities did not want to cooperate with our investigation committee,” Jeroen Lenaers, the head of the delegation, said at a news conference in Warsaw. “We think it also is a telling sign of the complete lack of importance this government attaches to checks and balances, to democratic scrutiny and to dialog with elected representatives.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a five-point “formula for peace” between him and invading Russia during the United Nations General Assembly debate on Wednesday, identifying the first step as “punishment.”

Zelensky addressed the forum from Kyiv, a move that the Assembly voted to allow by 101 members to seven. Zelensky named and shamed the seven — the communist nations of Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea, Nicaragua, plus Russia and Russian proxy Bashar al-Assad’s Syria — accusing them of fearing his words.

First of all, she’s at least twice the size of anyone else on this panel, so if you’re a Democrat, don’t you have to ask what her carbon footprint is?

Secondly, Democrat Stacy Abrams, an election denier who still thinks she’s the Governor of Georgia, sounds like a lunatic here as she argues that since men invented ultrasound machines, the heartbeats of babies somehow aren’t real . . . or something.

I guess that classifies her as a science denier, doesn’t it?

Where are the “fact-checkers”?

Stacey Abrams is pushing a theory here that ultrasound machines, used in hospitals now all over the world, were designed by a cabal of men, to manufacture a sound beat on purpose, in order to convince women to keep unwanted pregnancies. This is beyond QAnon shit.

The U.S. government has become a master of deceit.

It’s all documented, too.

This is a government that lies, cheats, steals, spies, kills, maims, enslaves, breaks the laws, overreaches its authority, and abuses its power at almost every turn; treats its citizens like faceless statistics and economic units to be bought, sold, bartered, traded, and tracked; and wages wars for profit, jails its own people for profit, and has no qualms about spreading its reign of terror abroad.

Worse, this is a government that has become almost indistinguishable from the evil it claims to be fighting, whether that evil takes the form of terrorism, torture, drug traffickingsex trafficking, murder, violence, theft, pornography, scientific experimentations or some other diabolical means of inflicting pain, suffering and servitude on humanity.

With every passing day, it becomes painfully clear that this is not a government that can be trusted with your life, your loved ones, your livelihood or your freedoms.

Just recently, for example, the Pentagon was compelled to order a sweeping review of clandestine U.S. psychological warfare operations (psy ops) conducted through social media platforms. The investigation comes in response to reports suggesting that the U.S. military has been creating bogus personas with AI-generated profile pictures and fictitious media sites on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in order to manipulate social media users.

The United States is making progress toward the creation of a digital currency, which the administration of President Joe Biden believes would assist in enhancing the country’s position as a worldwide financial leader. It announced the issuance of a framework that outlines the regulation of digital assets, which includes bitcoin and other objects of value that exists purely in digital form.

The framework consists of a number of different approaches that may facilitate the management of these assets and make the digital asset space more resistant to fraud, or so they say.

Government agencies have been hard at work over the last six months, since since President Biden issued Executive Order 14067 on March 22 with the title Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets,” in order to develop the framework.

A New England Journal of Medicine study has just confirmed what the data already has: that COVID-19 vaccines are giving people a new form of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The mRNA injections completely degrade the human immune system of the vaccinated population and it worsens by the week.

The huge study was conducted by several doctors and scientists at the University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The study backs up months of work, research, and data collection from ruling classes conducted by the team at The Expose. They have been analyzing official Government data for over a year and have found that the COVID-19 vaccinations take, on average, about 5 months to kill the injected.

The study authors used a counting-process extension of the Cox model to formulate the time-varying effects of the BNT162b2 vaccine and previous SARS-CoV-2 infection on the rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection, with adjustment for demographic variables.

In late July, a shocking interview with a captured Azov Battalion fighter began circulating online.

In the clip, the prisoner-of-war claimed that Oleksiy Arestovych, once a key advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, had, prior to the war, ordered his Neo-Nazi regiment (among other military units) to carry out and film “brutal murders” of captured Russian soldiers in service of an “information campaign

Government is slavery, nothing more, nothing less. Once the rulers convince people to be fully controlled with a digital dollar, people will be permanently  enslaved with no chance for escape. The illusion of freedom is slipping. If we ever expect to be free, we’d better wake up completely, and soon.

Federal agencies issued nine reports on Friday for developing a central bank digital currency (CBDC), also known as the digital dollar. The move follows President Joe Biden’s March executive order that urged the Federal Reserve to explore whether the central bank should create its own digital currency.

The reports released covered the impact of cryptocurrency on financial markets, innovation, and other aspects of the economic system. “These reports and their recommendations provide a strong foundation for policymakers as we work to realize the potential benefits of digital assets and to mitigate and minimize the risks,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement following the release of the reports.

According to the Atlantic Council nonpartisan think tank, at least 105 countries are currently exploring or have created a central bank digital currency.

The U.S. has ordered over 100 million at-home Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits from domestic manufacturers ahead of a potential case surge in autumn – and the midterm elections. Big Pharma companies are known allies of Democrats, so one can easily figure out where this leads.

But the White House and mainstream media will try to avoid that kind of conversation. In fact, the White House said this is only a short-term solution to the problem.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been warning of a “likely” fall surge as early as April. The Biden administration predicted nearly 100 million Americans getting infections in the fall and winter, warning that the number was a median estimate and many more cases are possible, especially if a new variant appears.

President Joe Biden’s administration has repeatedly – and unsuccessfully – asked Congress for more pandemic funding. Last week, it requested $22.4 billion in emergency funding for the fall.

A senior aide to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has left City Hall, following revelations that the staffer allegedly purchased property last year with federal money meant to feed disadvantaged children.

In a federal court filing, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota levels allegations against Abdi Nur Salah, who until today served as Frey’s senior policy aide. The court documents say Abdi co-purchased a south Minneapolis apartment building with money that was “traceable to the fraud and money laundering scheme” involving Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit organization under federal investigation.

I first noticed it 10 years ago while watching a BBC adaptation of Graham Greene’s famous 1938 gangster novel Brighton Rock. Considered a very violent book for its time, it was famously filmed in 1948 as a classic piece of British noir starring a young Richard Attenborough as Pinkie, the hoodlum with the sharp suits and penchant for throwing acid in his rivals’ faces.

But in the BBC adaptation there was something wrong. Pinkie’s gang, Dallow, Spicer and Cubitt, were depicted in the novel as runtish and impulsively violent criminals, but there was one thing about them that was clear from the prose; they were all White. In this version, however, Dallow was Black. The notion that an English south coast gangster just before World War II would be anything other than White is absurd, and I assumed this was just the usual BBC tokenism. However, over the next decade it would become increasingly common for producers to cast Black actors in what were obviously White parts. Today it seems almost mandatory.

Washington is perilously close to being openly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Newsweek published on Wednesday, answering a question about a possible confrontation between nuclear-armed world powers.

The US and its allies aren’t seeking peace in Ukraine, but to use the country to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, said Lavrov, who was in New York for the 77th UN General Assembly session.

“Today, Western states funnel weapons and military hardware into the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, and train Ukraine’s armed forces. NATO and US weapons are used to fire at Russian territory bordering Ukraine, killing civilians there. The Pentagon does not hide that it’s providing Kiev with intelligence and target designations for strikes. We’ve recorded the presence of American mercenaries and advisers on the battlefield,” Lavrov told the US magazine.

Addressing the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden accused Russia of imperialism and seeking to erase Ukraine as a state, while insisting the US does not seek conflict, only cooperation. Biden also endorsed expanding the UN Security Council and limiting veto powers for its permanent members.

“Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the UN Charter, no more important than the clear prohibition against countries taking the territory of their neighbor by force,” Biden said, accusing Moscow of attempting to “erase a sovereign state from the map.”

He also insisted that “no one threatened Russia” and that Russian President Vladimir Putin made “overt nuclear threats against Europe” and showed a “reckless disregard for the responsibilities of the nonproliferation regime” in the address to the nation broadcast earlier in the day.

Finland is working on new regulations that would further tighten restrictions on Russian tourists, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto told journalists on Wednesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“Finland does not want to be a transit country, not even for [holders of] Schengen visas issued by other nations,” Haavisto said, adding that Helsinki seeks to bring the Russian tourist traffic “under control.”

The Finnish Foreign Ministry is currently working with a group of experts on a “solution” to help Finland “limit this traffic or completely stop it,” the foreign minister stated, adding that the measures might involve new laws or amendments to existing ones. In any case, the national parliament “will quickly deal

The Baltic states have ruled out the possibility of accepting Russian draft dodgers or granting them asylum after Moscow announced a partial mobilization on Wednesday.

Latvia cited the measure as a reason to step up support for Ukraine and enhance its own security.

“Latvia will not issue humanitarian or other types of visas to those Russian citizens who [seek to] avoid mobilization,” Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics said in a tweet on Wednesday, citing “security reasons.” When asked about the decision by a local LSM broadcaster, he said that only those who could prove they had been “against the war” before the mobilization and who faced “persecution” and administrative punishment in Russia might have a chance to be accepted by Latvia.

Military service may become mandatory for women in Switzerland due to a shortage of army personnel, the country’s ATS news agency reported on Wednesday. Currently, female volunteers make up less than 1% of the Swiss Army, while the overall number of troops is projected to significantly decrease in the coming years.

The Swiss government has submitted a report on the shortage of personnel in its armed forces and in civil protection to the national parliament’s upper chamber, according to the ATS. Ministers have proposed two options to address the matter.

“The first is to make service compulsory for Swiss women, which would make it possible to double the numbers,” the article reads.

The Hungarian prime minister has spent months criticizing the European Union over its self-harming Russia sanctions policy. Budapest has also refused to allow NATO military equipment to be transferred to Ukraine through Hungary, and repeatedly called for urgent peace negotiations between Moscow and the West to end the security crisis.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban attacked the European Union’s Russia sanctions policy and called for restrictions to be nixed at a closed-door meeting of his ruling Fidesz party on Wednesday, the Magyar Nemzet newspaper has reported.

At a meeting in the Hungarian resort town of Balatonalmadi where policy guidelines were handed out to members of Orban’s ruling parliamentary faction, the prime minister was said to have emphasized that the security crisis in Ukraine has been transformed from a local conflict into a “global economic war” which he expects to last through the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.

In August alone, the cost of energy in Sweden jumped by an astonishing 29 percent. Soaring costs have exacerbated the cost-of-living crisis, with food prices having risen for nine months in a row and inflation regularly reaching new records. Amid the towering costs, Sweden has been warned of possible power cuts during a winter of energy rationing.

As part of the nationwide effort to save power as energy prices go sky-high, Sweden has started closing down churches in an attempt to economize.

As the harsh Nordic winter approaches, houses of worship throughout Sweden will be closing or, alternatively, turning off the heating.

Markus Dahlberg, the Church of Sweden's head of cultural heritage, told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter that these kind of measures are being mooted in many areas of Sweden, but especially in the south where energy prices are highest.

“Many churches are located in rural towns. In congregations with lots of buildings and a low base in membership fees, the responsibility for taking care of church buildings becomes a greater burden”, he admitted.

“As a new combat force of the PLA Air Force (PLAAF), the indigenous drone can perform all-around reconnaissance and precision strikes,” a statement from China’s Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday evening.

When NASA's Voyager 2 probe flew by Neptune in 1989 on its way out of the solar system and into interstellar space, it was the last time the rings of Neptune were seen in such detail. The eighth planet in the solar system was first seen up close by humanity during that momentous visit.

NASA has released the first photographs of Neptune, the mysterious ice giant that orbits in the remote regions of the outer solar system, taken by the James Webb Space Telescope.

According to the agency's news release, the photographs from the observatory, which were made public on Wednesday, offer some of the sharpest views of Neptune's rings in more than 30 years.

During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Joe Biden accused Russia of violating the organization's charter by launching a special military operation in Ukraine and called the upcoming referendums to join Russia in the Donbass republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions a "sham."

The US president "completely suppressed" Washington’s role in fanning the flames of the Ukraine conflict, ignoring the fact that his administration helped stage a coup in Ukraine in 2014, argued Christopher C. Black, international criminal lawyer with 20 years of experience in war crimes and international relations, and a commentator on international affairs, in an interview with Sputnik. According to Black, the US is "the prime criminal and violator of international law," and doesn't "care about anybody's sovereignty."
