Senate Democrats are putting new pressure on the Biden administration to ease federal restrictions on marijuana in a new letter to the Drug Enforcement Administration on Tuesday as it considers rescheduling cannabis after it was federally classified more than five decades ago.

The Department of Health and Human Services formally recommended in August that the DEA move the drug from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act, or CSA, prompting a monthslong review, which continues.

The letter, from 12 senators led by Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and John Fetterman, D-Pa., and signed by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., goes further.

Texas kritarchs in alliance with GOP operatives just blocked the Texas Nationalist Movement’s bid, backed by 139,000 signatures, to get secession from the Union (“Texit”) on the GOP primary ballot in March[Texans Wanting to Leave US Blame Republican for Making Them Stay, by Katherine Fung, NewsWeek, January 24, 2024]. You can see why they were so scared! The developing clash over the Great Replacement border treason between Traitor Joe Biden and Texas Governor Greg Abbot now includes D.C. threats to seize the Texas National Guard  [Abbott says nationalizing Texas National Guard would be severe Biden ‘political blunder’, Lauren Irwin, The Hill, January 20, 2024] and also, yes, Texas breaking away from the Union to defend itself [Heading For the ‘Texit’?, by Ron Paul, LewRockwell.com, January 30, 2024].But what’s shaping up to be an Alamo-like Last Stand for The Historic American Nation in Texas is a symptom of the growing demography-driven U.S.-wide growing secession movement—at the state level (for now).

House Republicans voted along party lines after midnight Wednesday to move toward impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for a 'willful and systematic' refusal to enforce immigration laws.

The Homeland Security Committee debated all day Tuesday and well into the night to recommend two articles of impeachment against Mayorkas to the full House as border security becomes a top 2024 election issue.

It's a rare charge against a Cabinet official unseen in nearly 150 years, as Republicans make GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump's hard-line deportation approach to immigration their own.

All committee Republicans voted in favor, while the Democrats unified against it.

'We cannot allow this man to remain in office any longer,' said Chairman Mark Green.

Iran has told the United States through intermediaries that any strike on its own soil would cross a red line and provoke reprisals on American targets in the region, according to a report.

The grim warning came as the world holds its breath to see how Joe Biden will respond to the killing of three U.S. soldiers by Iranian-backed militias.

Biden on Tuesday said he had already made his decision regarding reprisals for the deaths on Sunday - but did not disclose what it was.

He spent Monday sequestered with his military and national security advisers weighing up a range of options drawn up and debated over decades: among them striking Iranian assets in the Persian Gulf; taking on Iran-backed militias in Syria and Iraq; launching a cyberattack and - the most fraught option - launching strikes on Iranian territory, to take out commanders and key military sites.

Encampment-cluttered Denver's migrant crisis has reached breaking point after  40,000 people flooded into the Democrat-led sanctuary city in the last year.

The Colorado capital has become inundated with new migrants crossing over the border - despite the fact the city is already at the brink in terms of resources.

The sanctuary city, which already has 700,000 residents, has been struggling to stretch its limited housing. Denver, like other cities such as New York, are facing the brunt of the nationwide crisis of the flow of people at the southern border.

Denver's progressive mayor Mike Johnston now predicts the city will have to use 10 percent of its yearly budget on migrants - and will also need an additional $100 million to provide them with housing, schooling, and health care.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force has seen delivery rates of J-20 fifth generation fighters increase rapidly since 2021, after the aircraft was reported to have entered production on a much larger scale at the end of that year. The PLA Air Force is the sole operator of the J-20, which is one of just two combat aircraft of its generation both in production and fielded at squadron level strength alongside the American F-35. The J-20 will reportedly see delivery rates increase to 120 aircraft in 2025, meaning they will reach 250 percent the rates at which F-35s are being delivered to the U.S. Air Force despite being a much larger twin engine aircraft. Increased deliveries have allowed more brigades to receive J-20s annually, with eight brigades confirmed to have deployed the aircraft by the end of 2022 and five more reported to have received the aircraft in 2023 - of which two have been fully confirmed. With no other service in the world acquiring any class of fighter on even half the scale on which the PLA Air Force is acquiring J-20s, and with production still increasing, it is expected that the stealth fighters, will equip over 30 brigades by the end of the decade with deliveries to at least four units considered highly likely to have occurred in 2023 based on what information is available regarding production rates.

Former President Donald Trump’s defense team is considering the possibility of requesting a new trial.

This development comes in the wake of revelations concerning the presiding judge’s past connections to Carroll’s legal team, raising questions about potential conflicts of interest.

The controversy centers on Bill Clinton-appointed Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who has been overseeing the defamation case brought by Carroll against Trump.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, expressed shock upon learning that both Judge Kaplan and Roberta Kaplan, who are not related, previously worked together at the same prestigious law firm in the early 1990s.

This connection was uncovered by The New York Post columnist Charles Gasparino, following a tip that Judge Kaplan was once a mentor to Roberta Kaplan.

The Israeli military granted CNN a three-hour tour inside the Gaza Strip to view the destruction of Palestinian cemeteries. The outlet explained that the evidence presented by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) did not confirm Tel Aviv’s claims about tunnels under the graveyard. Across Gaza, Israel has damaged over a dozen cemeteries.

An IDF general gave CNN’s Jeremy Diamond a guided tour of the Bani Suheila cemetery. Israel claimed it needed to dig up the bodies buried at the graveyard because a Hamas tunnel ran under it. However, the IDF was not able to show CNN evidence supporting that claim.

Diamond explained the evidence presented by the IDF actually suggested that there was no tunnel beneath the cemetery. The IDF invited Diamond into Gaza after he reported that the Israeli military operations in Gaza had damaged 16 Gazan cemeteries. Palestinian officials report that 2,000 graves in the Strip have been damaged or destroyed by the Israeli military.

An Israeli air strike hit a compound in Gaza housing doctors working for a UK charity a month after the Israeli military told British counterparts the site had been "de-conflicted", MPs heard on Monday.

Foreign Affairs Committee chair and Conservative MP Alicia Kearns raised concerns about the attack during a parliamentary debate following Friday's ruling from the International Court of Justice in the Gaza genocide case against Israel.

The compound in the southern Gaza town of Al-Mawasi held staff from the UK's Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP) and the US-based International Rescue Committee (IRC), headed by former UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who were part of an emergency medical team working at nearby Nasser Hospital.

Around 6am on 18 January, the facility was hit by a bomb which Kearns said was dropped by an F-16 jet. MAP has previously said the strike left several of the staff and a bodyguard with non-life threatening injuries and severely damaged the compound.

Europe stayed silent when Israel began pounding the besieged Gaza Strip with the kind of ferocity that could only lead to a genocide. In fact, Europe remained silent when the word ‘genocide’ quickly replaced the earlier reference to the ‘Israel-Hamas war’, starting on October 7.

Those familiar with Europe’s political discourse and action regarding Israel and Palestine, must already realize that most European governments have always been on the side of Israel.

However, if this is entirely true, what can we make of the latest comments by the Foreign Policy Chief of the European Union, Josep Borrell, when he seemed to lash out at Israel on January 23, accusing it of “seeding hate for generations”?

Actor John Cusack fired back after the non-profit watchdog group StopAntisemitism branded him the “Antisemite of the Week” in an X post on Sunday.

“Wow – a list full of lies,” the “Say Anything” star replied on the thread.

StopAntisemitism’s post contained a picture of Cusack accompanied by the “Antisemite of the Week” label.

In the caption, the group accused him of denying mass rapes that occurred on Oct. 7, labeling Hamas as a “charitable organization” and claiming the Israeli government funded Hamas.

As of this writing, the United States and UK have carried out nine rounds of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, and Washington is mulling a response to the drone attack that killed three American soldiers in Jordan on Sunday.

All of this has increased fears of further escalation in the Middle East and sparked a debate in Congress over the legality and strategic rationale of the U.S. response.

Last week, four Senators — Mike Lee (R-Utah), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) — sent a letter to the president, telling him that under the Constitution, the Congress must deliberate and vote on whether to take the nation to war. Biden did not go to Congress for approval before launching the airstrikes in Yemen.

“We strongly condemn the repeated Houthi attacks against international cargo ships and U.S. military assets protecting those ships in the Red Sea,” the letter reads. However, “while the Houthis and their backers, namely Iran, bear the responsibility for escalation, unless there is a need to repel a sudden attack the Constitution requires that the United States not engage in military action absent a favorable vote of Congress.”

The general silence around the progressive establishment as the current Democratic administration prepares to launch military strikes against more foreign targets risking a wider war in the Middle East is so depressing and disconcerting.

As deeply disturbed I am about Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) recent bizarre and absurd attacks on peace advocates, I am even more distressed about the prospect of a casual stroll into an all out war against Iran in response to the militia attack on U.S. military personnel near the Jordan/Syria border over the weekend, which killed three Americans and wounded dozens more. Why U.S. troops are even there to begin with is a whole other matter.

Since Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel on October 7 and Israel’s invasion of Gaza in response, Biden administration officials and the president himself have repeatedly said they do not want the conflict to spiral out of control in the region. But in response to the attack on U.S. troops at the Jordan/Syria border, President Biden is reportedly considering “striking Iranian personnel in Syria or Iraq or Iranian naval assets in the Persian Gulf” which, if he follows through, could carry with it a tit-for-tat path of escalation that risks spiraling out of control.

The music rights company BMG is parting ways with the Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters over comments he made about Israel, Ukraine and the United States, Variety reported on Monday.

The Germany-based company had signed a publishing agreement with the 80-year-old musician in 2016 and was scheduled to release a newly recorded version of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon last year, but ultimately scrapped the release upon the hiring of Thomas Coesfeld as CEO. The re-recording was ultimately released by the UK-based record label Cooking Vinyl.

The split, unusual for a major publishing deal, is the latest fallout from Waters’ increasingly divisive rhetoric over Israel, which some have criticized as being antisemitic in recent months.

The rocker has remained defiant over numerous backlashes, such as a German police investigation over a “Nazi-style” costume worn on stage in Berlin last year. In April 2023, he won a legal battle allowing him to play in Frankfurt, after magistrates of the German city had instructed the venue to cancel a concert and accused Waters of being “one of the most widely known antisemites in the world”. He denounced the war in Ukraine but spoke to the United Nations security council at Russia’s invitation, claiming that its 2022 invasion of Ukraine was “not unprovoked”.

As the region braces for the consequences of major US airstrikes on 'Iranian proxies' in Iraq and Syria, Israel's defense minister has issued an alert saying Israeli troops will "very soon go into action" near the country’s northern border with Lebanon.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued the words Monday at a time of daily tit-for-tat cross-border fire with Hezbollah. The conflict has thus far been seen as "contained" - yet things across the broader region are looking anything but contained. Gallant said, "They will very soon go into action... so the forces in the north are reinforced."

A Delaware judge voided Elon Musk's $55 billion pay package after a Tesla shareholder brought a case to court claiming it was excessive. The consequences of the ruling could have major implications for Tesla's governance structure, but their implementation will hinge on a forthcoming appeal, according to Bloomberg

The compensation case, which was launched by shareholder Richard Tornetta, argued that Tesla's board lacked independence in crafting Musk's pay, a view the judge supported.

Tuesday's court verdict requires Tesla's board to put together a new executive compensation plan, at least temporarily overhauling the record-setting package previously awarded to Musk in 2018.

"Hungary does not allow blackmail," Hungary’s minister for European affairs, Janos Boka, has lashed out in response to the FT-reported secret document showing the EU stands ready to inflict intentional damage to Hungary's economy if Orban's government persists in rejecting more funding for Ukraine. "The document, drafted by Brussels bureaucrats only confirms what the Hungarian Government has been saying for a long time: access to EU funds is used for political blackmailing by Brussels," Boka emphasized on X.

EU leaders are expected in Brussels on Thursday (Feb 1st) in an effort to salvage and pass the €50bn four-year aid package to Ukraine which Budapest has been blocking. But if Orban doesn't back down, EU leaders are reportedly ready to say 'enough is enough' - per Financial Times' reporting, which openly uses the word "sabotage" to describe what other bloc members will seek to do to the Hungarian economy. Yet ironically enough, it remains officials in Brussels who are instead openly accusing Budapest of using blackmail related to Ukraine funding.

In 2023 the FBI finally offered a $500,000 reward for information on the alleged bomber.  Maybe they need to check who was on duty that night?

The culprit was caught on video but never caught by the FBI – the greatest intelligence service in the world.

Now we know why.

FBI whistleblower Kyle Seraphin reported in May 2023 that the technicians who worked on the program told him the devices were inoperable.
