The father of a Democrat running for a seat in the Washington state House of Representatives has accused his son of lying about his military service.

Brett Shavers is the father of 10th District candidate Clyde Shavers, who has claimed in his campaign that he served for eight years as a nuclear submarine officer, according to the Everett Herald.

The Herald said it spoke to the elder Shavers to ensure it was him who wrote a letter to Republican opponent Greg Gilday.

“I have told him not to do embellishments and exaggerations and it continued and continued, it just reached a point where it’s affecting everyone’s integrity and honesty,” Brett Shavers said by phone, according to the report.

The letter, which addressed multiple issues that Shavers had with his son’s campaign material, said “Clyde was never a submarine officer, not even for a day.”

A suspect is in custody today after attempting to assault New Hampshire Republican Senate nominee Don Bolduc. The attack happened before the retired general debated Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan at Saint Anselm College Wednesday night.

“As the General said on stage tonight, it’s time to lower the temperature of the political discourse in this country,” a Bolduc campaign spokesperson said. “Prior to the debate, an individual in the crowd gathered outside attempted to punch the General and was quickly apprehended and arrested. We are grateful to the quick response from law enforcement on the scene.”

Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) filed lawsuits against Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, alleging the race-based admissions policies of both schools discriminate against Asian Americans.

According to the complaint against Harvard, the Ivy League school’s undergraduate admissions policies “intentionally and improperly” discriminated against plaintiff students “on the basis of their race and ethnicity.” The University of North Carolina similarly employs “racially and ethnically discriminatory policies and procedures” through their admissions program, the University of North Carolina suit alleges. 

“Classifications of citizens solely on the basis of race are by their very nature odious to a free people whose institutions are founded upon the doctrine of equality,” the group cited Supreme Court case Shaw v. Reno. “They threaten to stigmatize individuals by reason of their membership in a racial group and to incite racial hostility,” SFFA further invoked.

During a debate with Jimmy Carter in 1980, Ronald Reagan famously asked, "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" Which is a sensible and basic question that's been asked in political races ever since — and next week's midterm elections are no different.

As Americans head to the polls on Tuesday, one ought to consider if you, your family or your business is better off today under Democrat control of one's state and one-party rule in Washington, or not. Unless you like paying significantly higher prices for essential items like food, gas, rent, heating bills and just about everything else, I suspect the answer is no.

If a mentally ill intruder broke into Mar-a-Lago and struck Trump in the head with a hammer, not only would the Trump-deranged Left barely contain their laughter and glee — for they'd deem it retribution, as they felt when Trump contracted COVID-19 — they'd recruit the thug for Congress.

Where was the media and their fellow Democrats when longtime Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said about Trump Cabinet members: "If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere."

Where was the media and their fellow Democrats when, during the Trump administration, then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., stood outside of the Supreme Court Building and, referring to Trump's court nominees Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, said: "I want to tell you Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

Why didn't the media and Dems connect the dots to "hateful rhetoric" when, during former President Barack Obama's second term, two New York cops, three Baton Rouge, Louisiana, cops and five Dallas cops were killed execution-style by three different black men — all motivated by the lie of anti-black police "systemic racism"?

There have been so many reports of changes at Twitter since Musk officially took control of the company last week that nobody could be blamed for feeling confused or out-of-touch with what’s going on at the social media giant.

On Wednesday, Fox Business put together a list of what it called the “top five moves the world’s richest man” has either accomplished or at least announced his intention to accomplish in the near future, which should help anyone curious about the current situation at Twitter feel more up-to-date.

On Thursday, immediately after taking the reins, Musk fired a number of high-level executives from Twitter. Those included Parag Agrawal and Ned Segal, the CEO and CFO, respectively.

Musk also fired general counsel Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top legal and policy executives.

Gadde played a key role in getting Trump banned from Twitter in 2021, even though at the time he was the sitting president of the United States.

She was also instrumental in censoring news stories about Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings in China and Ukraine in the weeks before his father, Joe Biden, faced Trump in the 2020 election.

 YouTube should "stop discriminating against conservative views" and "restore" lawful videos it removed following pressure from Democratic senators, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen demanded in a letter Wednesday to the streaming giant.

YouTube censored several videos about firearms, including one from licensed Montana gun dealer Jason Schaller giving a tutorial on how to build a gun legally, after five senators in February called on the platform to do so. Such censorship is "deeply troubling" to Knudsen, a Republican, who asked YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki in a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner to stop removing "speech it dislikes" and restore videos it scrapped from the platform.

"So long as YouTube acts hand-in-glove with federal politicians to repress constitutional rights, States will continue finding ways to reign in the power of Big Tech," the attorney general wrote in his letter. "It is past time that you considered the consequences of those actions for your company’s bottom line and withdrew your complicity from the trampling of rights disfavored by D.C. Democrats."

A transgender activist in New York City was arrested and charged for allegedly soliciting a minor, legal documents show. 

Trans and HIV activist Lailani Muniz was arrested last month in the Bronx after corresponding with someone whom Muniz thought was a 14-year-old boy identified as “Josh” on the LGBT dating app Grindr, according to the criminal complaint obtained by Fox News Digital.

“Josh,” however, was actually a man who works at the nonprofit NY Creeps Spotlight, which exposes people who target children. The man asked Fox News Digital to only be identified as FM. 

Muniz, 39, began messaging with “Josh” in March and had acknowledged the supposed teenager’s young age before soliciting oral sex, according to the criminal complaint. The criminal complaint states “Josh” identified as a girl, but FM told Fox News Digital he was posing as a teenaged boy. 

“I’m about to shower brb. Np. What u looking for and into. Are u cutting school and looking for company lol. Are u into guys and trans girls? Any xxx pixs,” Muniz responded to “Josh” when asked if Muniz cared if he was only 14 years old, according to the criminal complaint

New Twitter owner Elon Musk on Tuesday said the platform won't allow anyone who was removed from the service to return for at "least a few more weeks" until there is a "clear process" to let them back in, and that he's spoken to "civil society leaders" about plans concerning content on the site.

"Twitter will not allow anyone who was de-platformed for violating Twitter rules back on platform until we have a clear process for doing so, which will take at least a few more weeks," Musk posted early Wednesday.

Musk also said, in a separate tweet, that he spoke with "civil society leaders" about how Twitter "will continue to combat hate & harassment & enforce its election integrity policies."

Jake Tapper's stint as a CNN primetime host is coming to an end, with the network confirming that he will be returning to his late afternoon slot following the midterms.

The longtime media personality had been temporarily bumped up to the 9 pm slot in September, however there was speculation that the move would be permanent.

The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab reported on Wednesday, November 2, that 12 inches (30.5 cm) of snow fell in 24 hours in Soda Springs, California, in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Video posted by the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab on Wednesday shows fluffy flakes falling on the snow-covered ground in Soda Springs, a sharp contrast from footage of flurries posted just a day earlier.

The lab said that they were expecting an additional two to five inches of snow on Wednesday. The snowfall in the mountain range caused “slippery roads,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS issued a winter storm warning until Wednesday evening.

A top national security aide to Donald Trump has been granted immunity from prosecution in order to allow him to testify about the storage of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Kash Patel, 42, told Breitbart News in May that the former president declassified troves of information prior to leaving the White House.

Thousands of documents - many of them classified - were found in storage at Trump's Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, following a series of raids.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) has suggested that “free speech” doesn’t include the right to ask questions about the circumstances surrounding the attack on Paul Pelosi.

“Free speech does not include spreading misinformation to downplay political violence,” tweeted Durbin, a clear reference to last week’s hammer attack on Pelosi, which sparked skepticism from numerous prominent conservatives.

“In the days since Musk took Twitter private, the platform has seen an uptick in hate speech, and Musk himself used the platform and his influence to spread a baseless conspiracy theory about a violent attack on an elected official’s family member,” added Durbin.

The Blaze says, “‘Twitter has blocked my account from speaking the truth. The Twitter ban happens with only one week left until the election. They are attempting to once again put their thumb on the scales of this election to weigh in their favor—someone tag Elon Musk. Tell him to unban me right now.  Apparently, Elon Musk got the message. Several people and outlets tagged the Twitter owner calling on him to remedy the situation. After a response that he would look into it, the Arizona Republican candidate could post on Twitter again. The Blaze reports, “Arizona state Rep. Mark Finchem, a Republican, was briefly sidelined on Twitter. Then, he was quickly reinstated in under one hour. The reinstatement comes after Elon Musk took notice of Finchem’s plight.”

The Bank of England has warned the UK is facing its longest recession since records began, as it raised interest rates by the most in 33 years.

In its outlook for the UK economy, it said the country would face a "very challenging" two-year slump and unemployment will nearly double.

It lifted UK interest rates to 3% from 2.25%, the biggest jump since 1989.

It takes borrowing costs to their highest since 2008, when the UK banking system faced collapse.

The cost of living is rising at its fastest rate in 40 years, leaving many households facing hardship.

The US, France, and Britain voted down Russia’s call to investigate “military-biological” activities in Ukraine

The UN Security Council has rejected Russia’s call for an international investigation into claims that the US used laboratories in Ukraine to develop biological weapons.

While China backed Russia’s proposal, the US, Britain, and France voted against it, and the ten rotating council members abstained.
