COMING UP SHORT THIS MONTH.
Thought for the day
"If there is one basic element in our Constitution, it is civilian control of the military." -- Harry S. Truman
Vice President Kamala Harris wants the Biden admin to base Hurricane Ian funds and resources based on color.
That’s racist. This is not the time to run with your leftist agenda, Kamala. So disgusting. Just like Don Lemon. The agenda is more important that Ian impacted all communities regardless of wealth or race.
Pathetic and disgusting.
Webmaster addition: Nature knows no race.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children who are discovered to have head lice should not be sent home from school.
Apparently, it is too stigmatizing.
The new approach is to help prevent social stigma and psychological stress.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared his country would be submitting an "accelerated" bid to join NATO on Friday. He made the announcement shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed documents to formally annexing four regions of Ukraine. Zelensky said the alliance should welcome Kiev, as Ukraine is already a de facto member.
In his speech, Zelensky argued Ukraine is already a "de facto" member of NATO. "De facto, we have already proven compatibility with alliance standards. We trust each other, we help each other, and we protect each other," he said.
The Kremlin views Ukrainian membership in NATO as an existential threat to Russia. A Myriad of analysts point to Kiev’s growing ties with Brussels and Washington as the catalyst for Putin’s decision to order the invasion of Ukraine.
This would be Joseph Biden, the president of the United States who has been consistently vowing to go to war with the People’s Republic of China if it attacks Taiwan, and whose administration has been pouring billions of dollars into a world-threatening proxy war in Ukraine which it knowingly provoked and from which it has no exit strategy. With this administration’s acceleration toward global conflict on two different fronts, one could easily argue that Biden actually has the least cautious foreign policy of any president in history.
Increasingly, there is little doubt who is behind the Nordstream pipeline leaks, now numbering four. The corporate media is lamely attempting to blame Russia for blowing up its own multi-billion dollar pipeline and its expensive cargo, but as usual, the corporate propaganda media provides no evidence to back this up.
From that oh-so-reliable news source, the Express:
The massive leak in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which many suspected to be an act of sabotage, could be Russia’s way of sending a horrifying threat to Europe, experts have warned. They say he has the prowess and firepower needed to damage other pipelines. Over the past few days, four leaks have been discovered along the 1,234km-long Nord Stream 2 pipeline between Russia and Germany. The pipelines, which bypassed Ukraine and Poland by transitting gas via the Baltic Sea, started leaking on Monday, which experts from Denmark and Sweden have confirmed occurred after strong explosions.
Indeed, I am certain Russia does possess such technology. However, so do the US and NATO, both with more incentive to blow up the pipelines than Russia. It doesn’t need to do this. Russia can simply turn off the tap on its end, as it has partially accomplished in response to Germany and Europe sending munitions to kill Russian soldiers.
As for the required technology:
Israel’s Central Election Committee on Thursday disqualified a major party representing Palestinian citizens of Israel from running in forthcoming elections.
The Israeli electoral body said that the Palestinian National Democratic Assembly – commonly known as Balad – had “opposed and rejected the Jewish and democratic character” of Israel.
Palestinian citizens of Israel make up over 20% of the country’s population.
Each year, Forbes releases a list of the richest people in the U.S. In recent history, the list has included national figures like Donald Trump, Mark Cuban, and Warren Buffett, but it also includes people that have a larger reputation closer to home.
The Forbes list features the 400 wealthiest people living in America who have made their fortunes through tech companies, retailers, investing, real estate and more. These billionaires range in age from their 20s to their 90s, and are worth a combined $4 trillion.
Elon Musk, the man behind Tesla and SpaceX, is the richest person in America with a net worth of $251 billion. He edged out Jeff Bezos, whose wealth stems from Amazon, by $100 billion. Rounding out the top 10 are Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer, Bloomberg LP’s Michael Bloomberg, and Walmart’s Jim Walton.
Bill Clinton joined CNN’s Fareed Zakaria to discuss the return of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) this month after a five-year hiatus.
Today Joe Biden said that he is going to ban assault weapons. The gang at the White House clapped when he made this announcement.
On Monday saboteurs targeted Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. The attacks that shut down both pipelines from Russia are suspected as sabotage according to U.S. and European leaders and analysts.
Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill Thursday evening designating California a ‘sanctuary state’ for children seeking ‘gender affirming’ surgery without parental consent.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday let the mask slip and said illegal aliens need to stay in Florida to pick crops.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson, in a commentary about the apparent vandalism of the Nord Stream undersea natural gas pipelines from Russia to Europe, says it's hard to comprehend, but the facts are that the "people who very may well be responsible for letting methane into the Baltic Sea and into the atmosphere at a scale that most people can't imagine" could be officials in the U.S. government.
"The people lecturing you about your SUV may have blown up a natural gas pipeline and created one of the great catastrophes of our time in its effect on the environment," he explained.
In his online commentary, he said it was "one of the great environmental catastrophes of our time, is unfolding tonight off the coast of Denmark."
"As we speak, Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 are pouring millions of cubic meters of natural gas into the Baltic Sea. Pictures from the air … You can only guess at how many marine mammals are being killed right now – countless. But the lasting damage may be to the atmosphere."
That's because, he said, "Natural gas is comprised of up to 90% methane. Methane, as Joe Biden has often told you, is the key driver of global warming, which is, of course, an existential threat to humanity and the planet. So, if you're worried about climate change, what just happened to the Nord Stream pipelines is as close to the apocalypse as we have ever come. So, the question is, how did this happen? And it turns out it was not an accident."
Russian President Vladimir Putin is seen on a screen set at Red Square as he addresses a celebration in central Moscow on September 30, 2022, marking Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia's separation from Ukraine and joining Russia after referendums were held in these regions. (Photo by AFP)
The United States slapped additional sanctions on Moscow in reaction to the East Ukraine referenda resulting in four territories joining Russia.
Residents in East Ukraine's Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions voted last weekend in separate referendums to join the Russian Federation.
Kiev and its US-led Western allies have refused to accept the referendums in the four territories. They called them "sham".

During her remarks at the U.S. Capitol on Friday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed Florida farmers are saying they need immigrants “to pick crops.”
Burkina Faso army Captain Ibrahim Traore has deposed military leader Paul-Henri Damiba and dissolved the government and suspended the constitution and transitional charter, he said in a statement read on national television.
Traore said on Friday evening that a group of officers had decided to remove Damiba due to his inability to deal with a worsening armed uprising in the country. He announced that borders were closed indefinitely and that all political and civil society activities were suspended.
Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., chairman of Children’s Health Defense, this week filed a wrongful death suit against Merck alleging the drugmaker’s Gardasil HPV vaccine caused the death of 13-year-old Noah Tate Foley.
The civil action, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina on behalf of Noah’s parents, Clifton and Kelli Foley, alleges Noah died Oct. 8, 2020, of encephalitis caused by an autoimmune/autoinflammatory dysregulation process directly related to the Gardasil injection he received in 2018.
The lawsuit also alleges the vaccine caused autonomic, neurological, heterogeneous autoimmune disease and a constellation of adverse symptoms, complications, injuries and other adverse events, which led to Noah’s wrongful death.
We have previously discussed the calls of figures like Rep. Adam Schiff and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse to investigate Ginni Thomas, the wife of Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. I have expressed great concern over the calling of a spouse of a sitting justice who is among millions of Americans who believed that the 2020 election was stolen. I am not among them but Thomas has every right to that belief and to advocate for actions in light of that belief. Yet, the Jan. 6 House Select Committee thrilled many on the left by demanding that she appear and answer for her advocacy.
Now the media is breathlessly reporting that “Ginni Thomas tells Jan. 6 panel she still believes false election fraud claims,” as if it were a public confession of a reactionary resisting reeducation. On CNN, anchor Jake Tapper declared to viewers that Thomas has not changed her mind and remains “untethered from all of the facts and evidence.”
One can seriously question whether that is news but it is certainly satisfying as a congressional committee pulls in the spouse of a conservative justice to grill her for four hours on being a MAGA Republican who called for challenges to the 2020 election. None of the media even raised the question of whether such interviews could be viewed as harassment or pressure on a member of the Supreme Court. I understand that the Committee made this news by pursuing Thomas, but a balanced treatment would have at least raised the question of why she has been singled out over her advocacy.
The House’s Jan. 6 committee won an 8-1 victory before the Supreme Court, which correctly rejected Trump’s privilege objections to the release of White House materials. The sole dissenting vote was cast by Thomas. That raised a question of a conflict of interest that we have previously discussed given Ginni Thomas’ messages to the White House.
You listen with your ears, Joe —not your neck.
The White House shared an official tweet on Thursday, supposedly showing President Biden speaking with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
“This morning, I spoke with Governor Ron DeSantis to discuss the steps we’re taking to support Florida in response to Hurricane Ian. I’ve also directed FEMA Administrator Criswell to travel to Florida tomorrow to check in on response and survey where additional support is needed,” Biden shared on Twitter.
In a jarring reversal, the U.S. Department of Education on Thursday quietly revised its online guidance on who qualifies for the $10,000 of student loan forgiveness that President Biden announced in August. In doing so, it pulled the rug out from under at least several hundred thousand people.
At issue: Borrowers who have Perkins loans and Federal Family Education Loans (FFEL). Those earlier-generation loans were guaranteed by the federal government but were issued and are managed by private lenders. The FFEL program ran from 1965 to 2010; Perkins loans ended in 2017.
Travel website "The Points Guy" reported that thousands of cruise ship passengers are stuck at sea this week because Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc across southwestern and central Florida, forcing some ports across the state to close temporarily.
Cruise ships that departed from Florida before Hurricane Ian made landfall on Wednesday had to extend their schedules because some ports remain closed.
Three major ones — Port Canaveral, Jacksonville Port Authority, and Port Tampa Bay, remain temporarily closed or have disruptions, preventing cruise ships from docking.
A 21-year-old sailor has been found not guilty of setting a devastating fire that destroyed the $1.2 billion USS Bonhomme Richard amphibious assault ship in California, a Navy judge ruled Friday.
Ryan Sawyer Mays, who had been charged with arson and the willful hazarding of a ship over the July 2020 inferno, broke down sobbing as the ruling was handed down following a nine-day trial at Naval Base San Diego.
“I am so grateful that this is finally over,” Mays said outside court, according to USNI News. “I’ve been waiting a long time.”
The sailor added that the last two years “have been the hardest of my entire life” and that he was grateful to the judge for clearing his name.
“I’ve lost time with friends. I’ve lost friends,” Mays said. “I’ve lost time with family, and my entire Navy career was ruined. I’m looking forward to starting over.”

The proposal to ban these products was approved by the California Air Resources Board. While the ban does not cover gas stoves, many cities in the state are encouraging a switch to electric-only appliances.
Unemployment in the U.S. will rise to 5.6 percent by the end of 2023, warned Bank of America (BofA). Its prediction followed Federal Reserve officials who expressed belief that the central bank’s interest rate target will approach five percent next year.
Major leaks in two important Russian gas pipelines, Nord Stream 1 and 2, are most likely sabotage, according to Western nations, but the question of who is responsible remains unanswered – and some experts suggest that the U.S. could have been behind it.
