Thought for the day

NATO Military Committee headed by Admiral Rob Bauer paid a two-day visit to Georgia. The delegation of the highest military body of the North Atlantic Alliance is in Georgia for the fourth time.
Within the framework of the official visit, the representatives of the NATO Military Committee were hosted in Krtsanisi by the Commander of the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Assessment Center (JTEC)….The guests personally inspected the current national and multinational command headquarters exercises – “Didgori 2021” and “MAPLE ARCH”. [The] online training Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia tripartite training “Eternity 2021” was also observed.
Later, a bilateral meeting was held between the Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces and the Head of the NATO Military Committee. Major General Giorgi Matiashvili and Admiral Rob Bauer spoke about the process of transformation of the Defense Forces, the importance of NATO-Georgia military cooperation and future priorities, as well as the security environment of the Black Sea.
U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft from the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, arrived at Larissa Air Base, Greece, in support of operation Castle Forge, a U.S. Air Forces Europe-Air Forces Africa-led joint, multi-national training event.
Castle Forge is designed to provide a dynamic, partnership-focused environment that raises the U.S. commitment to collective defense in the Black Sea region while enhancing interoperability alongside NATO allies….
Alongside the F-15 operations, Castle Forge encompasses the USAFE MAJCOM-wide Agile Combat Employment Initial Operating Capability capstone event. Both of Castle Forge’s components will better enable forces to quickly disperse and continue to deliver air power….
It is nice to see that during times of darkness and mass stupidity devoid of moral leadership among so many once-great centers of western civilization, there are some shining examples of greatness at play. Not only are there examples of greatness, but in some instances, these examples have found expression within corridors of actual power which are shaping the contour of humanity’s future.
Such is the case with today’s Russia, which has come a very long way since the dark days of Perestroika when the Russian economy, military, culture, and people were brutally eviscerated by the utopic fantasies of end-of-history ideologues championing the onset of a New World Order.
Under this post-nation state/post-truth logic, the ancient civilizations of earth were supposed to be reset like a giant video game, shock therapied, and re-tooled like traumatized blank slates into a new synthetic “type” of depopulated humanity composed of drone-like zombies devoid of any residual pollution of family, national or religious traditions.
Thanks to the greed, crassness and stupidity of NATO’s satrapies we are where we deserve to be, on the eve of destruction.
Despite the unfortunate assassination some days earlier in Sarajevo of Archduke Franz Ferdinand Carl Ludwig Joseph Maria of Austria, July 1914 was quieter than a mouse on cotton, as no one had yet realized the horrors that lay ahead. General Radomir Putnik, chief of the general staff of the Serbian army, was taking the waters at Bad Gleichenberg, where the Austro-Hungarians promptly arrested him. Helmut von Moltke, Germany’s chief of staff, was also holidaying, as was Erich von Falkenhayn, the Kaiser’s War minister. Though there was some war talk chatter in gallant little Belgium, her farmers were more preoccupied with their harvests and her townsfolk were much too busy working and downing beers to fret about such matters even though, on 29th July, Belgian Prime Minister Charles de Broqueville had ordered a partial mobilization of her army, only a few short days before Belgium would join the world war that had begun a day earlier, when Austria declared war on Serbia and shelled Belgrade before the Serbs even had time to consider their outrageous demands.
What a difference a decade makes. There was a time when the United States would talk to Russia with at least the pretense of respect. Remember this exchange between then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama?
That was then. Mr. Medvedev is singing quite a different tune now. He made this public statement yesterday:
It is useless and unnecessary to appeal to the prudence of our enemies in the West, the enemies must be forced to ask for mercy in the lost economic battle and end it with their complete and unconditional surrenderhttps://t.me/intelslava/38460
In America today it is no longer possible for liberals and conservatives, left and right, Republicans and Democrats, blacks and whites, men and women to debate issues. The reason is that for liberals, leftists, Democrats, blacks, and feminists the issues are settled. Conservatives and Republicans are racists, white supremacists, colonialists, and threats to American democracy. Heterosexual men are misogynists. There is nothing to talk about. The guilty parties are known, as are the voices of truth. In place of debate the guilty parties are censored and silenced, which is the job of print, TV, the FBI, employers, and social media.
Feminists teach women to hate men. White liberals teach blacks to hate white people. Woke leftists infuse white kids with guilt and teach them to hate themselves and their parents and to accept privileges awarded to the “oppressed.” Gender depends on what you claim to be, not on biology or your body parts. A society this confused and disunited by mutual hate is incapable of going to war with real nations like Russia, China, Iran.
I once was a university professor, a member of the Congressional staff, an Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury, an advisor to J.P. Morgan Guaranty Trust, a Wall Street Journal editor and columnist, a Business Week columnist, a columnist for the Scripts Howard News Service, a columnist for Creator’s Syndicate. Today my voice is limited to the Internet and to foreign publications and news services.
American media and magazines keep their distance as I don’t agree with the official narratives, every one of which is a blatant lie.
By bombing those pipes, the United States forced Europe into an energy crisis that is going to destroy their economy.
These people are claiming that they are going to be able to survive the winter, barely. But all of Germany’s industry is going to have to be shut down, which is going to lead the entire continent into a death spiral.
If it were not for the fact that these countries are all democracies, they would be installing leaders that are anti-EU, who would ensure that the states achieve sovereignty and then align themselves with Russia.
There is zero benefit to any European country in staying aligned with the US while the US is literally attacking them and purposefully destroying their economy. But they will remain with the US because they are democracy countries, and in a democracy, you don’t have any choices. The government can just do whatever they want to you.
The FBI finally got around to reporting its Uniform Crime Reporting statistics for 2021. For complicated bureaucratic methodological reasons there was a huge decline in cooperation by local police departments, from the mid 80 percents in 2020 to agencies covering 64 percent of the population in 2021. Among the police departments not submitting data under the new, more complicated format are the NYPD and the LAPD.
This makes comparing year to year changes dubious.
But still … the black percentage of known murder offenders surged from a record 56.5% in 2020 to an insane 60.4% in 2021.
This change may be due to a selection effect. For example, perhaps it happened to be that law enforcement agencies that stopped reporting happened to more be in areas with few blacks and ornery nonblacks, such as Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Alaska rather than in places with high black to white ratios of homicides, such as Illinois or Wisconsin. Somebody could go through all the data and try to figure out if this happened. But I don’t see much reason to assume that the smaller sample of reporting agencies was skewed in this direction in 2021 relative to 2020. As far as I can tell, the lower cooperation was due to fairly random bureaucratic reasons.
Mr. Ramsey’s race goes unstated in this long article, but because his parents gave him a middle name that seemingly honors Robert E. Lee, you can just tell he’s white (assuming you have the worldview of a New York Times subscriber).
In truth, of course, the attacker is another black schizo, as are so many of those who carry out violent non-larcenous attacks on pedestrians they don’t know. Blacks tend to suffer from schizophrenia more than other races and tend to be more violent. Put them together and that’s a troublesome combination.
In the FBI’s (less than perfect) homicide statistics for 2021, the ratio of black known homicide offenders to known nonblack homicide offenders is about an order of magnitude, depending upon how you define black from the 2020 Census. (As I’ve mentioned before, police statistics are one of the last pockets of American government where Hispanics aren’t reliably broken out from whites — a holdover from progressive ideas of the 1950s — so I usually just work with black vs. nonblack.
(Also, note that this year’s FBI stats are less reliable than last year’s due to less cooperation due to a slow-motion bureaucratic train wreck involving the FBI setting 2021 as deadline for the complete switch over to a newer system, and many police departments failing to submit.)
In previous Censuses, the great majority of people who identified as black did not identify as anything else, so the question of how to count people who identified as black and another race was marginal and everybody agreed blacks were more or less around 13% of the population. But in the 2020 Census, there was a big growth in the number of people identifying as black and something else. So, the self-identified Black Alone population is now around 12 percent and the self-identified Black And Another Race population is now around 14%.
It is impossible to track the geoeconomic turbulence inherent to the “birth pangs” of the multipolar world without the insights of Professor Michael Hudson at the University of Missouri, and author of the already seminal The Destiny of Civilization.
In his latest essay, Professor Hudson digs deeper into Germany’s suicidal economic/financial policies; their effect on the already falling euro – and hints at some possibilities for fast integrating Eurasia and the Global South as a whole to try to break the Hegemon’s stranglehold.
Settler council heads demanded that the IDF crack down on Palestinian terrorism, with one leader calling for them to be killed in their beds.
“Only through strong deterrence and an aggressive attack against the terrorists will we reach the desired peace,” said Kiryat Arba and Hebron Council head Eliyahu Libman at a morning rally in front of Defense Minister Benny Gantz’s Rosh Ha’ayin home.
It’s the fourth such event this week and the second in front of Gantz’s home.
Israel is preparing for a possible confrontation with Hezbollah after rejecting increased demands from Lebanon in maritime border talks on Thursday.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz instructed the defense establishment “to prepare for any scenario in which tensions increase in the northern arena – including defense and offense readiness,” his office said.
The instruction was issued following an assessment of the situation with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi and other senior military officers and defense officials.
The Kremlin has called on the international community to pay special attention to Zelensky’s statements, especially the US and the UK, who Peskov says are “de facto in control of Kiev’s actions” and therefore bear responsibility for the Ukrainian president’s words.

The Kremlin has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of trying to spark a third world war, after he demanded that NATO carry out preventive strikes on Russia to deter the use of nuclear weapons.
The Kremlin on Thursday denounced comments by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which he suggested NATO should launch preventive strikes to rule out any Russian use of nuclear weapons, RIA news agency said.
"Such statements are nothing other than an appeal to start yet another world war with unpredictable, monstrous consequences," RIA cited Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
In a discussion with the Lowy Institute, an Australian think tank, Zelenskiy said he believed strikes were necessary to preclude any use of nuclear weapons. He did not go into detail about what kind of strikes he meant and made no reference to any need for nuclear strikes.
"What should NATO do? Make it impossible for Russia to use nuclear weapons," he said in remarks posted in an online video.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky is calling for NATO to launch "preemptive strikes" on Russia "so that they know what awaits them if they use nuclear weapons."
"Preemptive strikes are needed so that they know what awaits them if they use nuclear weapons," Zelensky told the Lowy Institute on Thursday according to a translation from Interfax. "Not the other way around, waiting for Russia's nuclear strikes and then saying, 'oh, you've done that, then get this.'"
NATO faces a dilemma. Member states are divided on how to proceed regarding Ukraine. Nine countries want membership for Ukraine immediately, 21 disagree. Then there is the issue of what exactly Ukraine is today. Is NATO willing to 'liberate' the regions that are joining Russia?
Russia and the US have managed to achieve “significant progress” in talks over resuming nuclear inspections within the New START treaty, Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on Thursday, citing the Foreign Ministry. The sides are also apparently mulling face-to-face negotiations to remedy remaining issues. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, as quoted by the outlet, Moscow and Washington are looking into reviving mutual inspection of nuclear arsenals. The ministry noted that the US and Russia are negotiating “over relevant channels” on how to return “to the full implementation of the treaty” in the element relating to verification mechanisms. It went on to say that the sides are holding virtual talks within the New START bilateral consultative panel. “At the moment, the possibilities for holding its next session in face-to-face format are being explored,” the ministry added. Russia and the US are also discussing “what organizational and technical problems need to be solved,” it told the outlet, adding that “significant progress” has been made to remedy a number of issues, but some “considerable difficulties remain.”
Last year, the Conservative Party was in the grip of decadence. This year, it faces apocalypse. Their 2021 conference, in Manchester, was like The Wolf of Wall Street. Wine poured from the sky. Laughter ricocheted off the walls. They all thought, everyone did, that the Conservatives had another decade in power.
This year, in Birmingham, it was more 28 Days Later. The list of absent MPs, led by Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak, stretched back to London. “There’s nobody here,” one member who attended the last 12 conferences mourned. “It feels deserted.” Twelve long years. We have tasted every philosophical flavour of Conservatism: David Cameron’s bougie-patrician, nudge theory-driven paternalism. Theresa May’s fretful Home Counties authoritarianism. Boris Johnson’s giggly One Nation boosterism. All gone.
The Ukrainian armed forces are intensely shelling the coastline near the town of Energodar, thus preparing a bridgehead for landing troops, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the ‘We are together with Russia’ movement, said on Friday during a Soloviev Live TV broadcast.
"Ukrainian troops are intensely shelling the coastline near Energodar and its suburbs, which once again shows that they are preparing to land troops. They are shelling specific areas, because it will be necessary to land on the coastal zone. It is clear that if they took this land, they would be able to defend the troops in case of the landing," Rogov said.
The official also noted that the intensity of shelling of Energodar has recently increased several times. "Regarding Energodar: in one day we were shelled over 40 times, in the next day over 20 times. The intensity of shelling of Energodar has increased many times," he added.
The 2022 Peace Prize was awarded on Friday to Belarusian activist Ales Belyatsky as well as to Memorial, a Russian human rights center designated as a foreign agent in Russia, and the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties.
The laureates "represent civil society in their home countries," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said in a statement. They have "promoted the right to criticize power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens," the announcement reads.
According to Oslo, the Peace Prize laureates "demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy."
The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it wanted to honor "three outstanding champions of human rights, democracy and peaceful co-existence in the neighbor countries Belarus, Russia and Ukraine." "Through their consistent efforts in favor of humanist values, anti-militarism and principles of law, this year’s laureates have revitalized and honored Alfred Nobel’s vision of peace and fraternity between nations - a vision most needed in the world today," the Committee concluded.
Conservative MP and two-time leadership contender Leslyn Lewis uncovered the admission in an Order Paper question signed by Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra.
In the response, Transport Canada admitted the WEF is one of several partners for the federal government’s Known Traveler Digital Identity (KTDI) Project, which will cost $105.3 million over five years.
“It’s no longer a conspiracy theory – it’s a contractual fact,” Lewis wrote on Twitter.
