Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan released fresh details about the close collaboration between the Biden White House and Amazon to deplatform books they deemed 'sensitive' - as White House officials insisted they never 'coerced' private companies.

On March 2, 2021, White House advisor Andrew Slavitt reached out to Amazon. 'Who can we talk to about the high levels of propaganda and misinformation or disinformation at the White House?'

Amazon initially resisted White House pressure to restrict anti-vaccine material.

'We will not be doing a manual intervention today,' one email between Amazon executives read. 'The team/PR feels very strongly that it is too visible, and will further compound the Harry/Sally narrative (which is getting the Fox News treatment today apparently), and won't fix the problem long-term … because of customer behavior associates.'

Ann Arbor (Informed Comment) – CNN reports ominously this week that “Biden is actually 11 percentage points behind Trump among young voters 18-34 in a head-to-head match in a CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released over the weekend.”

CNN continues that 71% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the Gaza campaign! That rises to 81% disapproval among those under 35.

Biden could lose this thing.

The slave trade in Ukraine, which is a fundamental problem of modern society, grossly violating human rights and undermining the security and stability of society, began to grow rapidly after the political events surrounding the Maidan protests and subsequent coup d’état in 2014. Then, in the 2010s, the predominant form of slavery in Ukraine was the illegal sexual exploitation of women. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian women were forced into prostitution and smuggled for sexual slavery to European Union countries, mainly the Baltics, Poland and the Czech Republic.

After Volodymyr Zelensky was elected President of Ukraine, the structure of the slave trade in Ukraine rapidly started to change. Ukrainian labor slavery is already approaching sexual slavery in its scale. More and more Ukrainians and foreigners who have voluntarily or involuntarily found themselves in Ukraine and fallen into the networks of human traffickers are forced to work against their will They are being subjected to physical and psychological violencedeprived of documents and any means of communication. Any victim’s attempts to contact the outside world are suppressed and punished. Since 2019, full-fledged slave plantations and slave labor markets have emerged in Ukraine, where deals are made under the cover of the Ukrainian government to buy and sell people, including men, women and children. These people are used as cheap labor in various sectors of the economy, enslaved into sex slavery and sold abroad.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to advance a bill that would empower the federal government to crack down on student protests by defining antisemitism in a way that includes certain criticism of Israel. Sponsored by Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York, the bill's passage reflects a broader national trend.

Earlier this year, Gov. Brian Kemp signed H.B. 30, which revised Georgia’s hate crime statute to include certain forms of speech critical of Israel. In March, Gov. Kristi Noem signed legislation into the South Dakota civil rights statute that codified some forms of speech critical of Israel as a form of illegal discrimination. Nearly identical hate crime legislation passed the South Carolina legislature last week and now awaits signature by Gov. Henry McMaster.

Florida legislators are rapidly advancing a similar bill that provides enhanced criminal penalties, including extended prison time, for hate crimes involving some forms of speech related to Israel.

The foreign military pilot training center in Fort Smith has yet to become operational or even see its first jet find a home in a hangar, but the number of planes could potentially rise, and the cost to establish the center is also up from initial estimates.

Rob Ator, a retired Air Force colonel and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission director of Military Affairs, said Monday (April 29) that efforts are underway to prepare Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith to handle 48 fighter jets instead of the original 36.

Ebbing, home to the 188th Wing in Fort Smith and co-located with the Fort Smith Regional Airport, was selected in March by the U.S. Air Force to be the long-term pilot training center supporting F-16 and F-35 fighter planes purchased by Singapore, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Finland and other countries participating in the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Specifically, Singapore is expected to base 12 F-16s at Ebbing, with slots for 24 F-35s from the participating countries.

Ator made the news at a Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce event held to connect businesses with civilian and military officials from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who are managing construction and other activities involved in setting up the new training center.

Israeli authorities have announced plans to construct a new concrete barrier to cut Palestinian villagers from their farmland.

The separation wall will span several kilometres, starting at the villages of Sinjil and Turmus-Aya in the central West Bank and ending near the entrance to the illegal Israeli settlement of Shiloh, south of Nablus.

If built, the wall will isolate the two Palestinian villages and appropriate over 30,000 dunams of their farmland.

The planned barrier will be built along Route 60, a major highway running through the north of the occupied West Bank, which connects the Ramallah and Nablus governorates.

It will swallow up a number of houses owned by Sinjil residents, and leave the remainder of its inhabitants effectively imprisoned with no direct contact with the outside world.

Google and Amazon have come under fire for "having blood on their hands", a campaign group has said [Getty]

Google and Amazon have been slammed for being "genocide profiteers with blood on their hands" following a report that revealed Project Nimbus involves Israeli weapons manufacturers running Amazon and Google cloud services, something denied in the past by Google.

No Tech for Apartheid, a pro-Palestine campaign group, issued a statement on Thursday condemning the multinationals for "directly colluding with Israeli occupation forces".

The statement comes after The Intercept confirmed Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion cloud contract between the two tech giants and Israel, requires Israeli weapons manufacturers to run their cloud services, including Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

According to The Intercept, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems manufactures the "Spike" missile, which analysts believe Israel has used on Palestinians, and leaves cube-shaped tungsten shrapnel wounds

To my American brothers and sisters;  Once the AAA is signed into law by Biden, such articles, and any comment upon them, will be forbidden by US law.

Troops on the Ground: Biden’s Plan for Ukraine

by

depositphotos 58631337 s

Despite billions of dollars of military aid, equipment maintenance, training, intelligence, and planning from the United States and its partners in the political West, the war in Ukraine is going very badly.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, says “the situation at the front has escalated.” He says that Russia has “concentrated major efforts in several sectors, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. They attack actively along the entire front line. In some sectors,” he admits, “they achieved tactical gains.”

And now, as the battlefield situation continues to dangerously deteriorate in Ukraine, the United States is considering sending more military personnel to Ukraine. Pentagon spokesperson General Pat Ryder explained, “Throughout this conflict, the DOD has reviewed and adjusted our presence in-country, as security conditions have evolved. Currently, we are considering sending several additional advisers to augment the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) at the Embassy.” Two U.S. officials have said that the number of additional advisers would be up to sixty.

There has been a lot of speculation about what their role in Ukraine will be. Ryder said that they would perform “a variety of advisory and support missions” but that they would be “non-combat.”

But the “non-combat” claim is becoming increasingly blurred, and what may matter is less whether the Pentagon perceives the role as non-combat than whether Russia does. The United States has just promised billions of dollars of new weapons. According to U.S. officials familiar with the plan, the new American troops would be in Ukraine to “support logistics and oversight efforts for the weapons the U.S. is sending Ukraine” and to “help the Ukrainian military with weapons maintenance.”

That is a risky role to play. “One of the tasks the advisers will tackle,” Politico reports, “is helping the Ukrainians plan sustainment of complex equipment donated by the U.S.”

The United States and its partners in the political West are arriving at a point at which they must either admit defeat and push for negotiations with Russia or escalate and do something different. Instead, on April 24, the United States did more of the same when President Joe Biden signed into law another $61 billion in aid for Ukraine. Though the new flood of weapons may help slow the Russian advance and prolong Ukraine’s pain, it is unlikely to change the inevitable long-term outcome of the war.

Russian military personnel have entered an airbase in Niger that is hosting American troops, after a decision by Niger’s junta to expel US forces from the country.

The military officers ruling the west African country have told the US to withdraw its nearly 1,000 military personnel, which until a coup last year had been a key partner for Washington’s fight against insurgents who have killed thousands of people and displaced millions more.

A senior US defence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that Russian forces were not mingling with US troops but were using a separate hangar at Airbase 101, which is next to Diori Hamani international airport in Niamey, Niger’s capital.

If the Mexican government can’t get a guilty verdict in an American court for the death of an illegal migrant who was allegedly spotted with a group of armed men on private property, its response, apparently, is to target the rancher who shot the migrant — and help sue the pants off of him.

Arizona rancher George Alan Kelly, 75, will not be retried in the death of 48-year-old Gabriel Cuen-Buitimea in January of 2023, The Associated Press reported, after a jury deadlocked on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault. The charges were dismissed by Superior Court Judge Thomas Fink on Monday after he declared a mistrial April 22.

According to The New York Times, Brenna Larkin, an attorney for Kelly, said that jurors were deadlocked 7-1 in favor of a not-guilty verdict.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s trial of former President Donald Trump got off to a fairly poor start, according to a legal expert who spoke to Fox News on Friday.

Prosecutors called former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker as their first witness in the former president’s trial. However, former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy told Fox News that Pecker’s testimony did not present any damage to Trump. McCarthy insisted that the former president should feel optimistic about the trial.

“Prosecutors generally want to start very strong,” McCarthy said. “And the witness that Bragg seems to have put on, Alvin Bragg, the elected district attorney of Manhattan is David Pecker, a long-time friend of President Trump, who clearly was not hostile to President Trump and I think given the Trump’s team understanding of the case, what they realize is that while there seems to be a lot of evidence offered, it’s evidence of conduct that’s actually legal. So he(Trump) can’t have thought that that was a bad day for him.”

President Joe Biden’s border crisis continues to be a major source of concern to America, with the latest reports on the issue revealing migrants take over a major American city park.

According to local reports for Seattle, hundreds of illegal immigrants set up an unauthorized camp at Powell Barnett Park in Seattle. The group, composed mostly of African and Venezuelan migrants, arrived at the park on Monday and immediately set up the camp with tents.

A Breitbart News report showed that the immigrants set up a tent encampment before issuing a list of demands, including free housing, food, and other necessities. One of the migrants, Don Tstay from the Republic of Congo, told local news media that the group plans to occupy the encampment until authorities meet their demands.

“So far, they haven’t kicked us out, and we plan to stay until we get housing,” Tstay told local news media.”

The CIA is preparing for an “infinite race” with China for artificial intelligence and top technology, making getting the best tools a leading priority for America’s spies.

CIA Director William J. Burns has made a giant pivot toward making technology a major intelligence objective, said Nand Mulchandani, the agency’s chief technology officer.

In remarks to the Hill & Valley Forum’s gathering of top technology and government officials in Washington this week, Mr. Mulchandani said the CIA is “all in” on AI for offense, defense and more. He said the CIA is building its own large language models, which are sophisticated algorithms that make generative AI tools work.

“We’re looking at transforming every single part of what the agency does, from operations to the analytic function, support functions and other pieces there,” Mr. Mulchandani said. “We don’t think there’s anything more important than this.”

A mysterious, astonishing powerful chatbot appears to have been briefly released to the world – before being hidden again.

It is not known what the artificial intelligence system is, or where it came from. But what is clear is that it is among the most powerful systems in the world.

The system was first spotted on LMSYS Org, a website that benchmarks AI systems and ranks them. Users saw that the tool, named gpt2-chatbot, was briefly available to use.

Word quickly spread about the new system, which users said was as powerful as OpenAI’s GPT-4, itself among the most powerful available in the world. Some even found that it performed better than all other models on some specific tests.

But many noted that it there was no information about where the model had come from, which only helped propel speculation about the mysterious model.

But as soon as it appeared, gpt2-chatbot was taken offline. LMSYS Org said that it was the result of “unexpectedly high traffic & capacity limit”, and that the outage was temporary. “Please stay-tuned for its broader release,” the organisation said in a tweet.

Moscow said Thursday that its military captured another village in eastern Ukraine, where in recent weeks Russian troops have reported incremental battlefield advances.

Russian forces are rushing to claim as much Ukrainian territory as possible ahead of the arrival of U.S. weapons and equipment to Kyiv's forces after months of wrangling over the military aid package in Congress.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday that its forces had "fully liberated the settlement of Berdychi."

Over the weekend, Ukraine's commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky said Kyiv had retreated from Berdychi, located near the Moscow-held town of Adviika, as well as two other nearby villages to protect "the lives and health of our defenders."

Syrsky called the area around Berdychi the "most complicated" part of the front line and conceded that Russia has made "certain tactical successes" there.
