Thought for the day
"Americans deserve the freedom to choose a life without surveillance and the government regulation that would make that possible. While we continue to believe the sentiment, we fear it may soon be obsolete or irrelevant. We deserve that freedom, but the window to achieve it narrows a little more each day. If we don't act now, with great urgency, it may very well close for good." -- Charlie Warzel and Stuart A. Thompson, New York Times
European Union ambassadors reached an agreement on Wednesday to impose a new package of sanctions on Russia, including banning maritime transportation for Russian oil to third-party countries unless the oil is sold below or at a certain price cap.
“Ambassadors reached a political agreement on new sanctions against Russia - a strong EU response to Putin’s illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories,” the Czech rotating presidency of the EU said in a tweet today.
Webmaster addition: Russia will simply sell their oil elsewhere.
In May, we outlined that a reversal of the "shortage of everything" bullwhip effect was nearing, as skyrocketing inventories (the result of Covid-era overordering due to snarled supply chains) was about to hit a faltering economy, and prices of goods would decline as companies would be forced to liquidate excess inventories into a recession (see "Bullwhip Effect Ends With A Bang: Why Prices Are About To Fall Off A Cliff" from May 23). We reminded readers about this a few times over the summer ("Bullwhip-Effect Reversal Is The Major Downside Growth Risk" and "Container Rates Slump As "Bullwhip Effect" Enters Terminal Phase").
Last week, the reverse bullwhip was apparent in Nike's 'shocking' quarterly report after shares plunged more than 10% following the announcement of deteriorating earnings, and the margin outlook for the year was slashed. We warned retailers building inventory at a rapid clip this year was going to be disastrous, which is precisely what the sportswear giant reported.
Why is Planned Parenthood so interested in trans identity politics when trans people are highly unlikely to have children (only 19%)? It's just another sign that the trans agenda is far more about population reduction that is about personal rights.
A recently unearthed infomercial made by Planned Parenthood last year is marketed directly to teens and promotes puberty blockers as a means to disrupt natural body changes in order to make teens “feel more” like the gender they believe themselves to be psychologically.
In other words, they suggest confused teens fight against their own biology by taking pharmaceuticals which are known to potentially cause chemical castration as well as permanent damage to reproductive processes. This is medically proven to occur, but with leftist politics now poisoning the sciences over the past few years there is a growing narrative that claims puberty blockers are “safe and reversible.”
The claim relies on the use of “unknown quantities,” as there is very little data on the long term effects of puberty blockers in the MAJORITY of people who take them, and in some cases short term usage means POSSIBLE reversal and limited damage to fertility. Advocates for gender affirmation surgeries and hormone therapies will often say that there “is no proof” that puberty blockers are dangerous – This is because of limited studies and data, not because the chemicals and therapies have been proven safe.

Prominent Egyptian archaeologists have renewed a call for the return of the Rosetta Stone from the British Museum to Egypt, 200 years after the deciphering of the slab unlocked the secrets of hieroglyphic script and marked the birth of Egyptology.
The archaeologists’ online campaign has gathered 2,500 signatures so far and aims to “tell Egyptians what has been taken from them”, said Monica Hanna, acting Dean of the College of Archaeology in the Egyptian city of Aswan.

Ukrainian air defences near Lyman have neutralised a Russian Su-34 strike fighter, with photos confirming that the aircraft from the from the 21st Air Division based in Shagol Airfield in the Chelyabinsk region serial number RF-81852 was destroyed. The Su-34 became operational in the Russian Air Force in 2014, and although it is considered a premier strike fighter it was designed primarily for operations using beyond visual range missiles against NATO and allied targets far beyond Russian territory, with its endurance accordingly being totally unrivalled. Russia’s unwillingness to expend more air launched standoff missiles in Ukraine has led it to deploy Su-34s for close range bombing and possibly even close air support missions, where Ukrainian handheld surface to air missiles have reportedly proven particularly dangerous. The age of Ukraine’s longer ranged S-300P systems from the 1980s has meant Russian fighters have faced less threats at higher altitudes, although their ability to attack ground targets with precision is significantly reduced if doing so.

Ron DeSantis’ decision to fly roughly 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard last month, such as Julie Gunnigle, the Democrat candidate for district attorney in Maricopa County, Arizona. Gunnigle isn’t just another regular candidate running for elected office, she also has the backing of left-wing billionaire George Soros.
During a recent interview, Gunnigle hinted that she believed criminal charges should be forthcoming for DeSantis sending the migrants north to Massachusetts.
