EU leaders meeting in Brussels on Thursday are set to endorse a deal to ramp up the supply of artillery shells to Ukraine…diplomats say.
The two-day European Council summit, which is also to focus on other issues, including energy supply, has been attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at a working lunch on Thursday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed the meeting via video.
“We will, as always, reaffirm our unwavering commitment to assist Ukraine,” declared Charles Michel, president of the European Council, in his invitation.
According to a new AEI analysis, since the start of the Ukraine invasion, 37 nations have combined to announce defense spending increases of over $1 trillion, to be spent during the next five years.
…The end of the Cold War and the last Great Power competition of the 20th century initiated a belief among the allies that military spending was wasteful and unnecessary. Countries didn’t need to actually defend their territories, since large scale conventional wars were seen as relics of the past….
The majority of NATO countries have pledged to increase their spending in the last year. Just as significantly, important Asian allies…have made their own planned increases known. What is most remarkable about this sea change in planned spending is that US allies have pledged to increase spending at much higher year-over-year rates than the US is currently planning. And more increases may be on the way as new allied spending promises continue to be revealed, the latest being the UK prime minister announcing a further $6 billion defense budget increase over the next two years.
AS MANHATTAN DISTRICT Attorney Alvin Bragg moves toward an indictment of Donald Trump, two predictable camps are forming: His critics are hungry for justice for a lawless operator, and his supporters are furious at what they see as rank political persecution. But there’s a third faction: people who hate everything Trump stands for — but fear that Bragg’s case is far from the strongest option when it comes to holding the former president accountable.
That camp includes some high-powered attorneys in New York City’s vaunted legal community, including litigators who fear Bragg has a weak case built on shaky grounds — and that his indictment could undermine more promising proceedings related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election or his hoarding of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.
“This case is a joke, frankly, and I’ve litigated against that office for 33 years,” said longtime New York criminal-defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman, who has counted Mexican drug lord El Chapo among his many high-profile clients. “I don’t think that case is winnable.”
Roughly 200 Israeli Air Force reserve pilots reportedly notified their units that they would not be reporting for their weekly flying session next week following the announcement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night that the government will move forward with its plan to overhaul the judiciary, despite widespread public protest.
The failure to report for weekly training sessions has serious implications because pilots who miss them are not certified to fly operational missions.
The protesters included pilots from different branches of the IAF including those who fly combat missions, helicopters and transport planes, Channel 12 reported, without citing a source.
NASA is actively monitoring a strange anomaly in Earth’s magnetic field: a giant region of lower magnetic intensity in the skies above the planet, stretching out between South America and southwest Africa.
This vast, developing phenomenon, called the South Atlantic Anomaly, has intrigued and concerned scientists for years, and perhaps none more so than NASA researchers.
According to Science Alert, The space agency’s satellites and spacecraft are particularly vulnerable to the weakened magnetic field strength within the anomaly and the resulting exposure to charged particles from the Sun.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the emergence of nuclear weapons in Ukraine would be a "golden dream" for Washington.
"The US deployed its nuclear weapons on the territory of European countries. It’s not France and the UK that have their own nuclear weapons. This is Italy and many other countries that possess the US nuclear weapons but they do not have access to them. The US controls them there. It was a golden dream that it would appear in Ukraine," she said in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on the Rossiya-1 television channel.
Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president, has some disturbing skeletons in her family wardrobe.
Her political roots in Nazi Germany account for the insane war-driven agenda of the European Union toward Russia under her stewardship and her total subservience to the U.S. imperialist objective to defeat Moscow.
Author Evan Reif explains how her politician-father Ernst Albrecht packed his regional government with unreconstructed Nazis and former Wehrmacht officers when he was governor of Lower Saxony in the 1980s.
Ursula von der Leyen’s family derived much of its industrial wealth from working closely with Hitler’s Third Reich. Her aristocratic family was also married into slave-owning cotton planters in the American South.
Just how important would you say the European Parliament is, both on a local (European) level and internationally? In a pro-European Belgian newspaper in around 2001 I remember reading the results of a survey of Europeans with over 70 percent agreeing that the institution was an important body, while almost 80 percent admitting they didn’t really know what it did.
The European Parliament’s role often comes into question both by the staunch supporters of the EU and those who have lost faith in the EU as a whole. Recently, it was interesting to see MoroccoGate of QatarGate take up a lot of EU media oxygen as a bribery scandal rocked the very foundations of the parliament forcing its president to act quickly and suspend the MEPs who were milking their positions and the EU for everything they could get. Notably, these MEPs were all fiercely pro-EU, at least in theory glancing at their political stripes (socialists) but in reality you could easily argue that they had no belief in the project as a whole, given that they were happy to piss in its soup.
Moscow will take retaliatory measures in case Russian media outlets and journalists face pressure in Germany, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.
"The German media have published information on the matter, which was provided by the German authorities and makes it clear that despite official statements, particularly from [German Foreign Minister Annalena] Baerbock - and she said in Moscow that they don’t interfere in the situation - that they not only interfere but they also pay for and moderate content; they did this in the past and they are doing it now," Zakharova noted, when asked if German media outlets working in Russia would face any consequences following the German government’s statements about journalists’ ties to intelligence agencies.
"If Russian journalists in Germany are harassed, there will be retaliatory measures against German journalists," Zakharova said.
NATO coming up short on its spending targets -- in spite of a "war" going in Eastern Ukraine -- is just another indicator that the New World Order is dying a slow death. From the article:
"Only seven of the 30 member nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are meeting the alliance’s target of spending 2 percent of their gross domestic product on the military, NATO said on Tuesday."
Now would be a good "teachable moment" ™ to review how NATO was formed and what its true functions were. Among the religious devotees and dupes of NWO Globalism, NATO ranks right up there with the UN, the WHO, the EU, the World Bank and the IMF as "indispensable" institutions of "global stability." The truth is, that from its inception in 1949 to the present day, NATO -- a wholly-owned subsidiary of the CIA which itself was founded just two years before NATO -- has always been a destabilizing war-making organization in service to the Globalists.
Russia could have its most powerful and quiet nuclear attack submarines on persistent patrols off either U.S. Coast in the next two years, the head of U.S. Northern Command told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday.
In response to questions from Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) on the threat of Chinese and Russian cruise missile submarines operating close to the U.S., NORTHCOM commander Gen. Glen VanHerck said that the deployments of the Russian Yasen-class nuclear cruise missile attack boats have been deploying more frequently.
“[The risk is] absolutely increasing. Within the last year, Russia has also placed their [Yasens] in the Pacific,” he said.
The liberal crime bill pushed by local Washington, D.C. leaders and killed by President Joe Biden has backfired, inviting fresh oversight and the clamping down of federal authority on the capital city at a time when local leaders are pushing for autonomy.
The crime bill would have lessened penalties for a range of crimes even as D.C. has experienced a spike in homicides, arson, and other crimes.
Emails published earlier this week show the office of then-Vice President Joe Biden colluding with a Bloomberg News reporter to bury a damaging story about Hunter Biden.
The emails – obtained by America First Legal (AFL) through its ongoing lawsuit against the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) – show the President of Hunter’s firm Rosemont Seneca Partners, Eric Schwerin, checking in with the Vice President’s media team about potential follow up stories to a New York Times article in 2015.
The Times on December 8th of that year suggested the “credibility of the vice president’s anticorruption message may have been undermined” by Hunter’s role on the board of Burisma Holdings. (Can you imagine such a story being written today?)
On March 18, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, over 2,500 people representing over 200 organizations gathered in front of the White House to protest the latest war drive: the escalation and prolongation of the war in Ukraine.
The Iraq invasion and the US’s central role as an aggressor on the world stage could not be more related to the Russia–Ukraine war, speakers argued.
“[The warmongers] want you to somehow think that it’s progressive, that it’s good, that it’s morally right to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to fight to the last Ukrainian,” said Eugene Puryear of BreakThrough News, opening the rally. “For what? Just for the ability of the United States government to control the whole world!”
The U.S. carried out airstrikes in Syria Thursday night after a U.S. contractor was killed in a drone attack that wounded five troops and another contractor.
The attack came around 1:38 p.m. at an allied maintenance facility near the city of Hasakah in northeast Syria, the Pentagon said in a statement. The intelligence community has assessed the “one-way unmanned aerial vehicle” that “struck” the maintenance facility originated from Iran.
Russia wants to create demilitarised buffer zones inside Ukraine around areas it has annexed, Former President Dmitry Medvedev said.
“We need to achieve all the goals that have been set to protect our territories, that is, the territories of the Russian Federation,” Medvedev, who is deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said in an interview with Russian media posted on Telegram.
We need to “throw out all the foreigners who are there in the broad sense of the word, create a buffer zone which would not allow the use of any types of weapons that work at medium and short distances, that is 70-100 kilometres, to demilitarise it,” Medvedev said.
Russia would have to push further into Ukraine if such zones were not established, he added, taking Kyiv or even Lviv.
Here comes the panic.
Bloomberg just reported that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen - who was singlehandedly responsible for stoking and restarting the bank crisis on Wednesday which until that day was easing back, with her comments that nobody in charge was even talking about a uniform deposit insurance, let alone working on one - will convene the heads of top US financial regulators Friday morning for a previously unscheduled meeting of the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
The meeting will be closed to the public, the Treasury Department said in a statement. The Treasury didn’t say what time the meeting would begin, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether the council would issue a statement following the meeting.
The step comes as regulators continue efforts to instill calm in financial markets and among bank depositors following the recent failure of two mid-sized lenders in the US and the near-collapse of banking giant Credit Suisse Group AG before its government-brokered takeover by rival UBS Group AG.
One of the most self-defeating and yet inexplicably persistent mistakes Russia’s enemies have been making for over a thousand years is underestimating it. Regardless of the direction the invasion was coming from, Moscow was able to prevail each time. Its ability to not just successfully defend itself, but also counterattack and reach the opponent’s heartland has been unmatched in modern history. And yet, the myth of Russia’s supposed perpetual decline and dilapidation is an incessant propaganda trope used by its enemies for centuries. None of it ever came true, despite all the grim predictions, which are still being parroted to this very day and are unlikely to go away any time soon, especially nowadays, when the political West needs to keep its populace under the illusion that Moscow is supposedly “losing”.
We often hear that Russia is no more than a regional power with an economy the size of Spain’s, a military budget that has been consistently smaller than the Saudi one, etc. And indeed, on paper, this may seem true. Taking into account nominal GDP as the only measure of success and power, one might fall into the trap of believing such statistics. However, the reality is quite different. All one needs to do is ask just a few logical questions. Could the Spanish economy ever withstand the sanctions imposed on Russia, let alone grow and outperform those enforcing them? Is the Spanish economy a key global supplier of vital commodities such as food, oil, natural gas, various types of heavy machinery, crucial chemical products (such as fertilizers), enriched uranium for nuclear power plants, etc?

The U.S. military launched airstrikes against Iranian-backed terrorists in Syria on Thursday night after a U.S. contractor was killed and five U.S. service members and an additional U.S. contractor were injured in an attack by a suicide drone.
U.S. intelligence said that the attack was carried out by a “one-way unmanned aerial vehicle” that “struck a maintenance facility on a Coalition base near Hasakah in northeast Syria at approximately 1:38 p.m. local time.”
The Pentagon said that the precision airstrikes were launched to “limit the risk of escalation and minimize casualties.”
President Trump republished a 2018 letter moments ago on Truth social showing Stormy Daniels denying every having had a relationship with citizen Trump.
This is huge.
The letter was published by TMZ in January 2018.
