"Keeping people confused and unsure about who they are is essential to removing resistance to tyranny. Every dictator in history has played that same game!" -- Michael Rivero

Welcome to the UK where it’s now official government policy that you CAN’T publish “misinformation”, but The Guardian, the BBC, Disney and Netflix CAN...

Yes, it’s true – the recently signed “Online Safety Act” brands the publication of “false information” a criminal offense punishable by up to a year in prison…

…unless you’re an MSM outlet, when it’s totally fine.

Maher stated, "I had [Ron] DeSantis and Ted Cruz on this year, and Bill Barr. And yes, to answer your question, I can think of two people—and I won’t say who they are; one of them is pretty famous—just yelling at me in an email about that." He continued, expressing his frustration with the criticism, "You know what? You live in your ivory tower. I'm going to talk to everybody in the half of the country that you find so deplorable. They’re not going to self-deport, even if they are deplorable."

The Russian mission to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Saturday requested an emergency meeting of the Council following the US aggression that targeted public and private facilities in Syrian and Iraqi territories.

“We have just asked to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due the threats to peace and security sparked by the US strikes on Iraq and Syria,” Sputnik quoted Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky as saying.

Polyansky added: “This month’s Guyanese presidency is planning to schedule it for February 5,”

On Saturday at dawn, the US occupation forces launched a blatant aerial act of aggression on a number of sites and towns in the eastern region of Syria and near the Syrian-Iraqi border, which led to the martyrdom of a number of civilians and soldiers, and the injury of others, in addition to causing significant damage to public and private property.

The Ministry of Culture condemned in the strongest terms the US blatant aerial aggression on the historic Citadel of al-Rahba, located on the bank of the Euphrates River in al-Mayadeen city, Deir Ezzor.

“The aggression violates all international norms and conventions that require the protection and respect of cultural property in accordance with Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Convention,” the Ministry said in a statement.

The citadel dates back to the 9th century AD.

The ongoing tension between Texas and the Biden administration has seen red state governors rallying behind Texas and its efforts to defend the border.

Eagle Pass, known as one of the busiest ports of entry for illegal immigrants, has witnessed significant improvements since Texas implemented its lockdown measures. In January, it was reported that Texas had seized property along the Rio Grande in Shelby Park due to the Biden administration's failure to secure the border.

The impact of Texas' border security measures is evident in the statistics. The number of illegal crossings has seen a major drop from December to January. According to the CBP, there were over 71,000 apprehensions in December 2023, but by January, that number had decreased to just over 16,700, marking a 76 percent decrease in just one month.

Since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the start of the IDF ground operation in Gaza, it has been repeatedly reported that one of the potential participants in an open confrontation with Israel could be the Lebanese Shiite paramilitary group and political party, Hezbollah. In January, there were even more statements by officials about the likelihood of a military clash on Israel’s northern border.

Thus, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on January 8 that his country is ready to go to war with the Lebanese group. However, he still believes that it is better to resolve the conflict peacefully. Netanyahu made his statement following a visit to the town of Kiryat Shmona, after it was hit by a Hezbollah anti-tank missile. The locality in northern Israel is regularly shelled by the organization.

Later, on January 17, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Commander-in-Chief Herzi Halevy said that the likelihood of a full-scale military operation in Lebanon has now drastically increased. “I don’t know when a war will happen in the north. What I can say is that the likelihood of this happening in the coming months is now much higher than in the past,” The Times of Israel quoted him as saying. Halevy made the statement while speaking to soldiers in northern Israel at maneuvers simulating an IDF offensive in Lebanon. He noted that troops are “building up readiness for battles in Lebanon.”

The leader of the French Patriots party Florian Philippot considers the statements of the country's President Emmanuel Macron on giving the European Union access to France's nuclear weapons as treason.

As the politician recalled, during a visit to Sweden, Macron said that "France has a responsibility to put its nuclear deterrent at the disposal of the European Union."

"This is treason. <...> This is a fundamental break with French doctrine. With Gaullism. Nuclear weapons are inseparable from our national sovereignty," Philippot said on his X page. "In fact, this is handing them over to the EU: it means that we could use them tomorrow, for example, in the event of a war between Poland or Latvia and Russia," he pointed out.

The last thing five-year-old Arkan remembers is seeing his mother.

Her mother had been sprawled on the ground, bleeding from her leg and her mouth as she uttered, “got to Yousef,” perhaps knowing that these might be her final moments, commanding him to run to the house where there were people who would make sure he was safe.

This took place in Khan Younis’s al-Amal neighborhood — Arabic for “hope.” After seeing what he has, young Arkan has been left with none.

Arkan’s mother, Ulfat Shaqqura, 38, was displaced alongside her family from Khan Younis to Rafah when the bombardment in their neighborhood intensified. When she reached Rafah, she found out that her parents were stranded in al-Amal and were surrounded by Israeli forces, unable to move or evacuate. That was when Ulfat decided to go back, against the pleading of her family, to help her mother and father.

Yemen’s Army says the latest wave of airstrikes by the United States and Britain on the Arab country will not go unanswered.

Speaking on Sunday, Yemeni Army spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the aggressor countries conducted 48 air raids on the Yemeni provinces of Sana’a, Hudaydah, Sa’ada, al-Bayda, Ta’izz and Lahij.

“Such attacks will not deter the Yemeni forces and nation from keeping up their support for Palestinians in the face of the Zionists’ occupation and crimes,” he added. “The raids by the aggressors will not go unanswered.”

Late on Saturday, the US and UK carried out fresh strikes on Yemen from air and surface platforms, including fighter jets, with the support of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Finally, the European Union’s threats, blackmail, and arm-twisting have paid off to push through a giant €50 billion aid package to the hopelessly corrupt Kiev regime. This is while European farmers revolt against the EU leadership over higher energy costs and cheap imports from Ukraine that are putting them out of business and wiping out their livelihoods.

The EU leaders are committing the entire bloc of 500 million people to political suicide. The reckless cavalier attitude is something to behold. Bring on the pitchforks, Merci!

The 27 leaders of the European Union met in an emergency summit this week not to deal with the bloc’s mounting internal political, economic, and social problems but rather to lavish mountains of more aid on non-member Ukraine.

When the leaders held their last summit in December, it was a spectacle of back-biting and sordid wrangling. At that gathering, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban vetoed the allocation of more funds to the Ukrainian regime amid bitter recrimination and bickering. This time around, however, Hungary caved in to the intense pressure to agree on the package.

“The Iranians have a strategy, and we don’t”, a former senior U.S. Defence Department official told Al-Monitor: “We’re getting bogged down in tactical weeds – of whom to target and how – and nobody’s thinking strategically”.

The former Indian diplomat MK Bhadrakumar has coined the term ‘swarming’ to describe this process of non-state actors miring the U.S. in the tactical attrition – from the Levant to the Persian Gulf.

‘Swarming’ has been associated more recently with a radical evolution in modern warfare (most evident in Ukraine), where the use of autonomous swarming drones, continuously communicating with each other via AI, select and direct the attack to targets identified by the swarm.

Russia has condemned the Friday night large-scale US strikes on Syria and Iraq, saying it was an illegal 'aggression' and that an urgent United Nations Security Council meeting must be convened to address it.

Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Saturday of the American operation which killed some 40 people, including civilians, that it "once again demonstrated to the world the aggressive nature of US policy in the Middle East and Washington’s complete disregard for international law."

Claire's Observations:  Russia may well get it's meeting, but with the US (and Israel) "owning" the UN in the ways they do, utterly nothing will be done about these US strikes, nor a cease-fire in Gaza or the West Bank, will happen.

Progressive Dems In Congress Move To Block Funding For Israeli Weapons

Calling on the United States to "end its complicity in the nightmare unfolding in Gaza," U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Friday said he would introduce an amendment to remove more than $10 billion from the foreign aid supplemental requested by President Joe Biden.

The $10.1 billion has been proposed to pay for offensive weaponry funding for the Israeli government, which has reportedly killed at least 27,131 Palestinians in Gaza so far—including at least 11,500 children—and displaced 1.9 million.

Two of France's main farming unions on Thursday agreed to suspend protests and lift road blockades across the country after the government announced measures the deemed "tangible progress" in the ongoing revolt against EU 'climate-driven' initiatives designed to wean society off of evil, non-bug-based, carbon-emitting food while China, India, and the rest of the world laughs.

In addition to France, protests have been held in Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Germany and elsewhere. Last week, tensions came to a head in Brussels when farmers threw eggs and stones at the European Parliament building, demanding that European leaders stop punishing them with more taxes and rising costs to finance the so-called 'green agenda.'

After French farmers stepped up protests earlier in the week, the government promised on Thursday to extend protections - including better controlling imports and giving farmers additional aid, Reuters reports.

"Everywhere in Europe the same question arises: how do we continue to produce more but better? How can we continue to tackle climate change? How can we avoid unfair competition from foreign countries?," said Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, announcing the new measures.

In response, France's main farmers union, FNSEA, announced that it was time to lift the blockades and "go home." Arnaud Gaillot of the Young Farmers' union echoed the message, however both unions warned that other types of protests would continue, and they'd be back if the government doesn't make good on their promises
