Thought for the day

"We're so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody's going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven't learned how to care for one another. We're gonna save the fuckin' planet? . . . And, by the way, there's nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin' great. It's been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn't goin' anywhere, folks. We are! We're goin' away. Pack your shit, we're goin' away. And we won't leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we'll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake." -- George Carlin

The findings come despite the pouring of over $800 billion of US taxpayer money into the military in 2021, and notwithstanding the Pentagon’s heavy reliance on the Air Force to do the heavy lifting in the majority of its operations across the globe, including the bombing of multiple countries.

Just five of the 49 types of aircraft in the US military’s arsenal met mission readiness targets for five or more years during the period between fiscal year 2011 and fiscal year 2021, the Government Accountability Office has revealed.

In a comprehensive 352-page report released this week, the congressional spending watchdog indicated that issues like aircraft age, maintenance problems and spare parts availability dramatically hindered readiness levels – measured by fleet aircraft ability to fly and perform at least one mission.

Supporters of Donald Trump claim that Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is responsible for Senate losses because he failed to direct sufficient funding to candidates who ran with the endorsement of the former president. An analysis of campaign finance records by The Daily Wire explored whether that is true.

On Friday, we first learned courtesy of a mystery twitter account belonging to an anonymous FTX insider, that the now bankrupt crypto exchange held just $900 million in liquid assets (including, among other things, a $7.3 million online bet by Democrat megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried for Trump to lose).

Source: minigrogu

Of the $900 million in liquid assets, the largest portion - or roughly half - was in the form of $470mn of Robinhood shares owned by a Bankman-Fried vehicle not listed in Friday’s bankruptcy filing, which included 134 corporate entities. The liquid assets represent just 10% of the total assets (including $5.4BN in semi-liquid and $3.2BN in illiquid) and is a fraction of the $9 billion in liabilities at FTX which will now make their way through bankruptcy court for the next several years.

The document, which the FT also tracked down on Saturday and discussed here, and which was shared with prospective investors before the bankruptcy, provides a detailed picture of the financial hole in the FTX crypto empire and suggests customers of FTX international may face steep losses on cash and crypto assets they held on the exchange (and speaking of the 134 subs that FTX listed on its bankruptcy filing, the FT notes that the company had incorrectly listing entities it did not own in its initial filing, while as we reported earlier, the exchange suffered an apparent hack on Friday night that drained its balances to zero).

Aside from the spreadsheet shown above, the FT also noted another spreadsheet which references the $5bn of withdrawals last Sunday - which as everyone knows by know were precipitated by CZ telling the world he would pull his money after the "recent revelations" and sparking a bank run on FTX which the exchange did not have nearly the fund to defend against; the sheet also noted a negative $8bn entry described as “hidden, poorly internally labled ‘fiat@’ account”.

Among the components of the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset are a drastically reduced population and the replacement of human labor with robots and artificial intelligence (AI). The question immediately comes to mind: can robots and AI really make all the stuff for the elites after they have gotten rid of the people?

Because a plan has been formulated and described does not mean that it is possible to realize. The plan may contradict laws of logic or reality, or assume the existence of resources that do not exist.

Podcaster and journalist James Delingpole, speaking to investigative journalist Whitney Webb on October 23, 2021, discussed this topic with his guest. I have transcribed several minutes from their conversation, edited for concision:

Webb: The fourth industrial revolution. One of the main pillars of that is automation and artificial intelligence. We’ve already seen that with corporate behemoths, like Amazon’s efforts to replace human workers with robots. Starbucks is piloting their AI barista with plans to have at least one in most if not all locations…. How long until humans are gone entirely? That’s in a retail setting.

In the UK Tesco recently joined the cashier less checkout. It’s all done on your phone. You scan when you enter the store. Everything is tied to you, your unique digital identifier with the corporation. You can just walk out of the store. How convenient that you didn’t have to walk by a cashier at all.

While many analysts and economists will be talking for months about the epic downfall of crypto-exchange company FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried, their focus will be primarily on the billions lost, the mismanagement of funds, the fraud inherent in yield farming and the alleged betrayal of investor trust.  This is a tale as old as time and not anything surprising.  What many in the mainstream are missing, though, is Fried's attachments to the World Economic Foundation, various global elitists and his avid sermonizing of the tenets of “effective altruism”, which are nearly identical to the tenets of Klaus Schwab's Stakeholder Capitalism agenda.

  • The energy crisis in Pakistan has deepened this year.

  • Gas supplies available for households will be very limited this winter.

  • Pakistani households will have gas available for three hours in the morning, two hours in the afternoon, and three hours in the evening.

Pakistan has no other option but to ration natural gas supply this winter, with gas provided three times a day for cooking to households, amid acute shortages and a forex crisis in the world’s fifth most populous country, an official from the petroleum ministry told a Parliament panel this week.

This week, we saw another incident of protesters shutting down an event to prevent others from hearing opposing views. At an event with commentator and author Ann Coulter, one protester yelled “Your words are violence.” It is the latest example of how some on the left are treating free speech as harm on college campuses. Unlike many other incidents, however, Cornell has stood by the right of the student group, Network of Enlightened Women, to hold the event and pledged to hold students accountable for the cancellation of the speech.

The Ukrainian authorities imposed a curfew in Kherson on Saturday and restricted entry and exit from the city, citing mine clearance efforts, Yaroslav Yanushevich, chief of Ukraine’s Kherson regional military administration, said.

"We have to impose a curfew starting today, from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.," Yanushevich said in a video posted on the administration’s Telegram channel.

"I would also like to inform you that coming into the city and leaving it will be restricted to ensure demining activities," he added.

On Friday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that the Ukrainian authorities had no intention of allowing journalists into Kherson under the pretext of demining.

President Joe Biden announced the launch of his multimillion-dollar “Climate Gender Equity Fund” to address purported inequalities women face in climate finance at the United Nations COP 27 climate conference in Egypt on Friday.

The Climate Gender Equity Fund will “leverage private sector contributions to help provide women climate leaders with technical skills, networks, and capital to develop and scale climate solutions,” according to a White House statement.

"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back." -- Carl Sagan

Mammoth Mountain buried under 5 feet of snow in November 2022

Mammoth Mountain buried under 5 feet of snow in November 2022

A major winter storm is currently barreling its way across the Western Rockies dropping snow from the PNW down to Northern Arizona.

The bulk of the storm is dumping snow throughout Utah, Idaho, western Montana, and western Wyoming and further north into Canada. The Sierras are the big winners racking up storm totals upwards of 60″.

The storm will continue to move east over the next day depositing leftovers in Colorado.

This early-season injection of cold has plunged south of the border too, deep into the United States.

California’s Mammoth Mountain is currently under 60 inches (5-feet) of freshly fallen snow after an early season storm delivered one the biggest November snow totals on record to the Eastern Sierra.

In our last installment of this series, we explored the evolution of a bad idea known as eugenics throughout the 20th century following its transformation into new clothing after World War II which called itself “transhumanism”.

This new “science” danced with another bad idea masquerading as a “universal law” which was called “entropy” and found its champions among an array of social engineers who were committed to a static faith in a dying universe managed by an impotent and irrational God who was made in their own image. The practical application of this entropic science of population control took the form of a system dubbed “cybernetics” founded by an apostle of Bertrand Russell named Norbert Wiener- both of whom attempted to appropriate the name of Gottfried Leibniz (founder of calculus, binary language and computing machines) as a new god head within their new Church.

As we saw in part 2, Leibniz ironically stood in opposition to everything which this new death cult represented.

Russia considers the reconnection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to SWIFT to be a critical issue in moving forward in reducing barriers to local agricultural product exports, and will try to achieve it, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.

"This is not the first time we've discussed it, because, in my opinion, reconnection of the Russian Agricultural Bank, which provides the majority of agricultural transactions, agricultural operations, is a critical issue. We simply cannot move forward without it. We've talked about this before, and yesterday we talked about it very substantively and for a long time, and we obtained reassurance from UN representatives that they, too, believe this is a critical issue," Vershinin said.

"We're working on it, and we will achieve it," the diplomat continued.

Russia is in favor of dialogue on all issues, but it should be a dialogue that takes into account its concerns and is aimed at creating indivisible security in the world, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel.

Commenting on his May Telegram post that lists 10 grim consequences of anti-Russian sanctions for the world, Medvedev stressed that these are not predictions, but "things that have already happened." "One can have different attitudes to it, one can believe that the horsemen of the Apocalypse are already on their way and all hope is in Almighty God. However, one can still try to tone down this international situation," the deputy chairman said.

According to him, Russia "has never shut itself off from international communication," and is ready to talk. President Vladimir Putin and other Russian politicians have repeatedly stated this at various venues.

Unlike the West, the Russian people will never give up their love for the country, faith and traditional values, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a Victory Day parade on Moscow’s Red Square on Monday.

"We will never give up our love for the country, faith, traditional values, ancestral customs and respect for all peoples and cultures. As for the West, it seems to be determined to cancel these millennia-old values," he noted.

"This moral degradation paved the way for cynical falsifications of the history of World War II, attempts to incite Russophobia, glorify traitors, mock the memory of their victims and wipe out the bravery of those who fought and suffered for the Victory," the head of state stressed.

Senate Minority Leader, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader and California Rep. Kevin McCarthy are in a jam and their dreams of staying party leaders are in jeopardy.

Republicans are still likely to win a tiny majority in the House, not the red wave they expected, but what was considered a forgone conclusion a month ago, Rep. McCarthy becoming Speaker, is in danger.

A letter asking to postpone leadership elections was circulated among members by some high profile lawmakers, including Sens. Ron Johnson, Mike Lee and Rick Scott, Politico reported.

“We need to have serious discussions within our conference as to why and what we can do to improve our chances in 2024,” they said. “Holding leadership elections without hearing from the candidates as to how they will perform their leadership duties and before we know whether we will be in the majority or even who all our members are violates the most basic principles of a democratic process. It is certainly not the way leadership elections should be conducted in the world’s greatest deliberative body.”

It could also mean that  Sen. McConnell may not remain as the Senate Majority Leader.

For the US, the lethal business of war is an immensely profitable business. The country saw massive increases in its GNP during the latter years of WWII and eight months into the Russia-Ukraine conflict it is clear that history is repeating itself, while Europe suffers. The US is also reaping the benefits of its pressure on Europe to stop energy inflows from Russia, so that they have to buy energy resources from the United States at a high price. Likewise, commodity prices are surging; inflation is galloping; debt servicing becomes unbearably expensive; capital flight is bringing vulnerable countries to the brink of economic disaster. Even advanced economies such as Britain, the European Union and Japan are not spared.
