"The first panacea of a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permeant ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists." -- Ernest Hemingway
We’ve been hearing some bombshell revelations as a result of the files released by Twitter owner Elon Musk showing the prior suppression of free speech.
The files showed the Biden team was asking to have people suspended, including regarding people who were posting information that had been found on the Hunter Biden laptop.
Then as I reported earlier, one of the people they went after was actor James Woods who had posted a picture on Oct. 24, 2020, that looked like it was Hunter Biden smoking drugs. The files released by Musk show that the DNC contacted Twitter to take action against Woods.
The conflict between France and Germany is not new. The enmity between the two neighbours has become entrenched in the hearts of their peoples since the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
This conflict took military, economic, and even social forms, and continued during the first and second world wars. However, with the establishment of the EU and the unification of the European currency, it subdued.
The two countries are considered a cornerstone of the EU, as they have the two largest economies on the continent.
However, when the Russian-Ukrainian War started, rifts between the two nations reignited on issues such as energy, defence, and the economy. The Russian gas outage and its economic impact is especially at the forefront of the rift.
This crisis showed the fragility of European economies, as Europe faces a deepening energy crisis as it prepares for a cold winter. Moreover, the crisis sparked debate about the EU itself if it fails to secure the needs of its people.
Elon Musk gave the Twitter files over to journalist Matt Taibbi.
Taibbi put together a report he published on Twitter on Friday and it’s wild.
Team Biden was colluding with Twitter to ban pro-Trump material even before the election. This is really a complete outrage, and worse than even I thought it was. I assumed there were pro-Biden people at Twitter who were just doing it for The Party. Biden’s own people sending the emails is beyond the pale.
THE FORMER US PRESIDENT’S SON HAS REPEATEDLY CONDEMNED THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION FOR SENDING MONEY TO KIEV.
Donald Trump Jr. has called out Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his recent crackdown on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A vocal critic of the Biden administration’s Ukraine policy, Trump Jr. jokingly suggested that the government “send him another $100 billion with no accountability.”
“Zelensky is banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” Trump Jr. tweeted on Friday. “His government has also been raiding Ukrainian Orthodox churches and arresting priests. (Prob why he’s a [Democrat] superstar).”
“He’s all about freedom guys,” Trump Jr. jeered. “Let’s send him another $100,000,000,000.00 with no accountability.”
America’s favorite moneypot is back, just in time for our American leaders’ favorite pleasure: persecuting devout Christians on the basis of their faith. Yesterday, President Zelensky of Ukraine announced Draft Law 8821, which will make the Ukrainian Orthodox Church illegal throughout the country. The law, if passed, will also allow the Ukrainian government the ability to confiscate all church property and outlaw both public and private practice of the religion.
The COP27 climate change conference wrapped up last month. World leaders flew in private jets to Egypt to discuss how fossil fuels were quickly heating the planet to the point of no return, as humanity was doomed if crucial climate change policies weren't implemented. But while the climate alarmist leaders met in the desert, November's snowfall across the Northern Hemisphere was running at rates exceeding a half-a-century average.
NOAA and Rutgers University released new data that showed snow cover across the Northern Hemisphere reached the highest level since measurements began in 1967 and are currently above the 56-year mean.
Alexander Soros, the heir apparent to left wing billionaire George Soros’ political and philanthropic mission, has traded selfies with beauties and bros for handshakes and hugs with world leaders.
The 36-year-old son of the Democratic mega-donor just attended the Munich Security Conference in Germany, where he joined heads of state occupied with the looming threat of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Soros, who in younger days was snapped partying in the Hamptons — where he had been described as “making out with the babes” at East End hotspots — now fills his social media feed with photos of political heavy hitters. He welcomed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to a dinner put on by his dad’s Open Society Foundations in Munich; posed with and praised Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, and posted snaps to his Instagram shaking hands with the prime minister of Kosovo and president of Rwanda.
Planned Parenthood Center for Sex Education Executive Director Bill Taverner is facing severe backlash after clips surfaced of him claiming that babies are “sexual from birth” and that children should be given pornography.
A now-retired Maine state trooper has been awarded $300,000 in a lawsuit after facing retaliation for blowing the whistle on a state police division that was gathering intelligence on several groups of people, including gun owners.
Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland's words that Russia has not resorted to the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine because of Western ‘warnings’ are nothing but an attempt to shift blame, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on her Telegram channel on Saturday, noting that Moscow repeatedly stated that nuclear war was unacceptable.
The diplomat drew attention to Nuland's words in the Ukrainskaya Pravda newspaper that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided not to resort to the use of nuclear weapons allegedly because of "tough warnings" from other states, as well as the unacceptability of strikes on energy infrastructure.
"Victoria Nuland has once again defeated herself: first, through her own controlled media and think tanks, she inflated the topic of the nuclear threat from Russia, and now she is trying to put the blame where it belongs: allegedly nuclear Armageddon did not happen because of 'tough warnings' (and not because no one on this side of the border was planning it)," Zakharova said. In this regard, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman recalled the ministry's statement published on November 2 on the prevention of nuclear war.
The assistant US secretary of state, Victoria Nuland, has apologised after her phone conversation about the political crisis in Ukraine was leaked on the internet. The call between Nuland and a US ambassador focused on the future of the country if it gains a new government. Nuland declined to comment on 'private diplomatic conversations'
It is impossible to abolish Russian culture in Europe, it is not subject to European bureaucrats trying to stimulate anti-Russian sentiments, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I would like to express our solidarity with all those who, while living abroad, continue to associate themselves with the Russian Federation, with their homeland, who take care of the language, who bring up children and grandchildren in their language, and try to promote the interpenetration of cultures... Russians now in modern Europe carried our culture, enriched the countries in which they found themselves," Lavrov said at a press conference, addressing compatriots.
"This culture cannot be abolished, it is beyond the control of any Borrels and other bureaucrats trying to stimulate Russophobic sentiments, trying to incite the ordinary population, well, just discriminate against Russians," the minister added.
[This week, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova delivered the following explosive response to Chrystia Freeland’s recent obnoxious efforts to ban Russia from all international organizations and financial institutions. Zakharova’s remarks follow in full]
At recent meetings of the finance ministers of the G7 and G20, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland actively advocated the exclusion of Russia from global financial institutions and international organizations.
At the same time, Ottawa has again increased the supply of weapons to Ukraine, including the Karl Gustav ATGM from the Canadian Armed Forces.
All this is a response to new alleged evidence of “atrocities of the Russian military.” Shortly before the G20 meeting, Freeland bluntly stated: “War crimes were committed in Ukraine. The evidence we have seen is simply appalling.”
The City of San Francisco is constitutionally prohibited from disqualifying job applicants on the basis of race. That is precisely what occurred to John Arntz who has held the job of San Francisco’s director of the Department of Elections for two decades.
He has been repeatedly praised for his excellent performance at this increasingly important job - important because of so many election challenges and doubts. Just two years ago, the election commission commended him for his “incredible leadership.”
But now they are essentially firing him because he is apparently of the wrong race to satisfy their “racial equity plan”.
To give a short explainer, the talented Matt Taibbi posted internal Twitter documents around the 2020 presidential election which demonstrated how political operations – such as the Biden presidential campaign and the DNC – petitioned the company to remove “offending” tweets. Twitter complied. The Trump White House would make similar requests, but as Taibbi observe, “this system wasn’t balanced.” Instead, it was based on contacts. And as you can imagine, Twitter’s staff, especially at the highest levels, was far left and supported the Democrats.
What of the other Twitter Files? Elon has promised more transparency and Taibbi posted on his Substack that “there may be a few more big surprises coming.” Catch Taibbi and Walter Kirn, both of whom we’re big fans, explaining the Twitter Files on Episode 15 of “America This Week.”
But there’s a bigger story slowly emerging: the FBI’s involvement in political censorship.
As Miranda Devine observed today, there is much more to be divulged. Specifically, the FBI’s meddling in the 2020 election and the FBI’s pressure of social media companies, including Facebook and Twitter, to essentially censor the Hunter Biden story. It’s the story of FBI Supervisory Special Agent Elvis Chan, who recently testified he was part of that effort:
After a long effort to pass an omnibus spending bill for fiscal year 2023, Democrats were forced to accept a short-term continuing resolution (CR) instead.
CRs, while they prevent the government from shutting down, make no changes to long-term federal spending. Rather, they simply continue to spend at levels set the prior fiscal year.
Earlier this year, Democrats passed a CR that will fund the government through Dec. 16, at which point the government will shut down if lawmakers have not passed a new spending bill.
One of the Democrats’ many agenda items during the lame-duck session is the passage of a more comprehensive omnibus spending bill. In contrast to a CR, an omnibus bill, if passed, would allow Democrats to set appropriations levels for next year even though they’ll be in the House minority.
Because the 118th Congress will sit for the first time on Jan. 3, 2022, allowing a CR to run out before then could give a lame-duck Democrat majority a last-minute chance to fund its policies through all of fiscal year 2023.
Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who exposed the U.S. government's unconstitutional mass surveillance programs, received a Russian passport on Thursday after taking the country's citizenship oath.
"Edward received a Russian passport yesterday and took the oath in accordance with the law," his lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said, according to Russian media. "He is, of course, happy, thanking the Russian Federation for the fact that he received citizenship."
That citizenship comes with an enormously valuable feature: "Under the Constitution of Russia, he can no longer be extradited to a foreign state,” said Kucherena.
Snowden faces prosecution on espionage charges for giving journalists an enormous volume of classified documents about NSA surveillance programs.
In 2013, Snowden famously traveled from Hawaii, where he worked for the NSA, to Hong Kong, where he arranged to meet journalists Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras.
