"We can have democracy or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few. We cannot have both." -- US Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis
Dementia affects more than 55 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This number is expected to rise to 78 million by 2030 and 139 million by 2050, as we experience an aging population.
Dementia-related symptoms are caused by various diseases and traumas that affect the brain, such as Alzheimer's disease or a stroke. It disrupts memory and other cognitive functions, impacting one’s ability to perform daily tasks.
As Statista's Anna Fleck notes, cases of dementia are on the rise worldwide, with figures set to double in many countries over the next 30 years.
PM Orbán predicts that lifting sanctions will lead to a significant drop in inflation and a halving of energy prices...
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz) has appealed to the European Union to lift sanctions against Russia by the end of the year at the latest in order to alleviate soaring inflation not just in Europe, but across the globe.
At a parliamentary group meeting in Balatonalmádi on Lake Balaton, Orbán warned that the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv is no longer a matter between the two countries and is escalating into a global economic war expected to last into next year.
Europe is plagued with an energy crisis, and the cold season is coming ahead of schedule.
The stability of the EU's natural gas reserves now depends on a mild winter. But new weather forecasts for next week indicate that "Arctic chill will blow across western Europe through next week will be the first test of how willing people are to delay switching on the heating in a bid to save energy and ease household budgets," according to Bloomberg.
Forecaster Maxar WeatherDesk said temperatures in London would sink 5 degrees Celsius below average, falling as low as 6.5 degrees Celsius overnight on Sept. 27. In Frankfurt, Germany, temperatures will fall 3.5 degrees Celsius below normal levels on the 28th, while France and Spain will see temperatures 3-4 degrees lower than the seasonal norm.
"It will turn even colder early next week as a plunge of Arctic air surges southwards, and a strong northerly wind will accentuate the chilly feel," according to the UK's Met Office.
Germany, France, and Spain have approved energy conservation measures to decrease demand for NatGas, while the EU as a whole has reached the 80% target (now 86.9%) of filling storage tanks by Oct. 1.
According to Aurora Energy Research, full NatGas storage could sustain EU countries for at least three months this winter. In Germany, the bloc's largest economy and home to a quarter of EU storage, there are about 80-90 days of fuel in storage.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that regions of Ukraine where referendums are being held will be under the Kremlin’s “full protection” if they are annexed by Russia, raising the prospect of the use of nuclear weapons.
Residents of four Russian-occupied areas in eastern and southern Ukraine continued voting for four days on whether to join Russia.
“Following those referendums, Russia of course will respect the expression of the will of those people who for many long years have been suffering from the abuses of the neo-Nazi regime,” Lavrov told reporters this weekend after addressing the United Nations General Assembly. He was referring to the Kyiv government.
When asked by a reporter if Russia would possibly use nuclear weapons to defend any annexed regions in Ukraine, Lavrov said that any Russian territory will be “under the full protection of the state.”
“All of the laws, doctrines, concepts, and strategies of the Russian Federation apply to all of its territory,” he said while referring to Russia’s doctrine on using nukes.
As readers know, I am convinced that Putin’s toleration of insults and provocations has had the effect of encouraging more and worse provocations and not, as he intended, to downplay conflict. As you also know, I am convinced that his “limited military operation” in Donbass designed to protect the Donbass Russians, formerly a part of Russia, from horrible abuse by Ukrainian forces and the neo-Nazi militias, was a mistake. It is a mistake because the West characterized a limited operation as an “invasion of Ukraine,” and used its slow progress as evidence of Russian failure. It is a mistake because the go-slow nature of the Russian offensive in order to minimize the impact on civilian lives and infrastructure gave the West plenty of time to convince itself to get more and more involved with diplomatic support, money, armaments and ammunition, training, and now with satellite information for targeting the Russian forces.
As I see it, Putin has been behaving as British Prime Minister Chamberlain is alleged to have behaved, thus encouraging more aggressive actions. Wanting peace at all costs brings war.
We have previously discussed dubious constitutional and historical claims by President Joe Biden on gun bans. However, on Friday, he returned to a curious claim that he has made repeatedly: that “the bullet out of an AR-15 travels five times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun.” Conservative and gun rights publications have repeatedly shot down that claim but it does not seem to have any impact.
As with Biden’s false claim that certain weapons were banned from private ownership at the ratification of the Second Amendment, the President continues to make the same false claim on velocity speed.

An FBI whistleblower recently came forward and issued warnings about alleged politicization at the FBI, saying that the bureau is spying on law-abiding Americans and that many of its domestic counterterrorism cases are tantamount to “entrapment.”
Kyle Seraphin, who has spent six years in the FBI, was suspended without pay and cannot seek another job without quitting or asking for permission. It’s not clear when he was suspended, but he said that he had run-ins with his managers about his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine although he was granted a religious exemption.
“The number of guys who say, ‘I don’t agree with what’s going on here, but I’ve got three years to retire,’ it’s heartbreaking,” he told podcast host Dan Bongino.
f Democrats manage to hold the House and pick up a single Senate seat, they will unleash a wave of very inflationary Progressive legislation.
538 poll synopsis updated September 23, 2022
Like Nate Silver or not, the above 538 House Forecast is a reasonable starting point for discussion.
Silver has the Republicans a slight favorite (68-32) favorite to win the House. That margin seems more than "slight" but use your own definition.
The digital dollar is the endgame. No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall on, this will be the permanent and inescapable enslavement the ruling classes of the globe desperately need in order to remain in power.
You will own nothing, while a handful of people will own everything. You will exist if they allow it, be stolen from if they don’t like what you said, and be ruled over in a dystopia that makes our current situation pale in comparison.
A “white paper” published on the White House website calls for the creation of a “digital dollar” that, of course, will be controlled by the ruling class. Much like the Federal Reserve currently has the sole role and responsibility to develop and print fiat currency with which they already control the population to some extent. But the difference here is that if all money was digital, the government and central banks will be one and the same. They could (and would) monitor our bank accounts; monitor all of our transactions; impose barriers to purchases of certain “unfavored” items, and even block access to our money or limit how much of it we could spend.
They will take what they want, and cut off your ability to spend for as long as they want.
From ‘special military operation’ to open war: significance of the referendums in Donbas, Kherson and Zaporozhie
The televised speech yesterday morning by Vladimir Putin and the follow-up remarks by his Minister of Defense Shoigu announcing the partial mobilization of Russia’s army reserves to add a total of 300,000 men to the military campaign in Ukraine have been widely reported in the Western press. Plans to hold referendums on accession to the Russian Federation in the Donbas republics this weekend and also in the Kherson and Zaporozhie oblasts in the very near future also were reported by the Western press. However, as is very commonly the case, the interrelationship of these two developments has not been seen, or, if seen, has not been shared with the general public. Since precisely this interrelationship has been highlighted on Russian state television talk shows these past two days, I use this opportunity to bring to my readership the key facts on what turn the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will now take and an updated view of when it will end and with what results.
The very idea of referendums in the Donbas has been ridiculed by mainstream media in the United States and Europe. They are denounced as ‘sham’ and we are told that the results will not be recognized. In fact, the Kremlin does not at all care whether the results are recognized as valid in the West. Their logic lies elsewhere. As for the Russian public, the only critical remark about the referendums has been about the timing, with even some patriotic folks saying openly that it is too early to hold the vote given that the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Zaporozhie and Kherson oblasts have not yet been fully ‘liberated.’ Here too, the logic of these votes lies elsewhere.
The New York Times is going full-bore for war in Ukraine. It is difficult to explain the yellow journalism, but the so-called "paper of record" did the same thing on Vietnam (see below). In other words, the Gray Lady is whoring again.
It may be, as some allege, that the NYT has never met a war it did not want to get the U.S. involved in – or, once in, to escalate. However true that may be, I still cannot figure out why – why again.
With four Ukrainian oblasts about to join Russia and a mercurial President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, making outlandish threats to take them – and Crimea – back, perhaps the Times believes it must move decisively to make it as difficult as possible for President Biden to behave more sensibly.
The Guardian reported yesterday that "Zelensky has vowed to liberate the entire country as Russia pressed on with its supposed referendum in occupied areas of Ukraine …" Zelensky said Ukraine’s armed forces would throw the Russian forces out and retaliate against "every strike of the aggressor." He pledged that Ukraine’s armed forces would regain control of the southern Kherson region and the eastern Donbas, which includes Luhansk province and Crimea.
The areas of Russian-controlled Ukraine that are holding referendums on joining Russia may be absorbed by the Russian Federation on September 30, a Russian lawmaker told TASS on Saturday.
Referendums are currently being held in the self-declared republics of Donestk and Luhansk and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. The voting is set to be concluded on Tuesday.
“Taking into account the preliminary results of the referendums and Russia’s readiness to acknowledge them, the accession of the territories is likely to take place as early as on September 30,” an unnamed member of Russia’s State Duma told Tass.
President Joe Biden’s administration is making it easier for border crossers and illegal aliens to secure American jobs after they are released into the United States interior.
In 2019, former President Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to stop fast-tracking work permits for border crossers and illegal aliens who are subsequently released into American communities.
The rule change made sure that border crossers and illegal aliens would need to be in the U.S. for at least a year before applying for work permits through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency.
Now, as Reuters reports, Biden is repealing the Trump-era rule change to ensure that hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens his DHS releases every few months into the U.S. interior can now more quickly secure work permits to take American jobs.

It's too early to say for sure what the new government will be in Italy. The right-wing coalition, while massively outperforming the left, does not have an outright majority. It's also a coalition of several parties, which is inherently unstable. Italian patriots have a right to be joyful, but let's not get too carried away.
However, for now, bask in the panic of the journalists, for the nationalist right has won.
Italy appeared to turn a page of European history on Sunday by electing a hard-right coalition led by Giorgia Meloni, whose long record of bashing the European Union, international bankers and migrants has sown concern about the nation’s reliability in the Western alliance.
Early projections based on a narrow sampling of precincts, as well as exit polls, on Sunday night suggested that Ms. Meloni, the leader of the nationalist Brothers of Italy, a party descended from the remnants of fascism, had led a right-wing coalition to a majority in Parliament, defeating a fractured left and a resurgent anti-establishment movement.
You know the drill by now.
Say her name, right?
Her name is Nancy Horton, an 80-year white grandmother brutally murdered by two black males in a home invasion.
One of the black males was a career criminal, the other is a juvenile.
The Federal Reserve is not conducting an anti-inflationary policy. It is conducting an anti-people policy.
The rising prices are not due to excessive consumer demand that needs to be curtailed by choking off credit. The rise in prices are the direct consequence of the idiot Biden regimes’ unnecessary Covid lockdowns and the idiot Biden regime’s Russian sanctions which have disrupted the globalism on which the Washington fools have based our economy. Putting people out of work cannot prevent higher prices due to supply constraints. The Federal Reserve is causing higher prices by further reducing supply.
If the Federal Reserve does not know this, the Federal Reserve is too incompetent to justify its existence and should be immediately abolished.
If the Federal Reserve does know this, then what is its real purpose?

It's the kooks given the gays an unjust image and we should not judge all gays because of the groomers any more than we should judge all white people by the KKK, or the blacks by Black Lives Matter.
The “first touchpoint for asylum seekers” is what New York Mayor Eric Adams called the climate-controlled tents the city plans to provide shelter for foreign nationals bused from the border by Republican governors.
According to Just the News, Adams indicated the city would provide a litany of services and compared the border-crosser influx to immigrants arriving at Ellis Island over 100 years ago. Adams said, “Like the generations that came to our city before, New York will provide the thousands now coming to our city with the foundation to build a better life.”
New arrivals to the city will be dropped off at tent communities or directed there by the Port Authority. They will be given information regarding their legal rights, healthcare, and safety.

Billionaire Marc Benioff, Time magazine owner and co-CEO of Salesforce, told CNN his role is to support his Salesforce employees, even if it means removing resources from conservative states unsupportive of equality and dignity.
“We are dealing with a whole series of crazy presidents, crazy governors, and crazy mayors all over the world in every country, every city, and every state. The number one thing I can do is let my employees know I’m here for them,” Benioff said, according to WISH-TV.
CNN’s Poppy Harlow pressed Benioff to elaborate on his accusations, “Who is crazy?”

On Friday, General Motors announced the company is investing significantly in a Toledo, Ohio, plant to manufacture electric vehicles.
ABC-13 reported GM Executive Vice President, Gerald Johnson, announced the investment of $760 million to the facility as it transitions to electric vehicle production.
The GM Toledo Propulsion Systems Facility will continue to work on internal combustion propulsion as it introduces EV propulsion and specifically manufactures EV drive units.
The head of Iraq’s Asaeb Ahl al-Haq resistance group, Qais al-Khazali, announced on 23 September that the Coordination Framework (CF) agreed to hold early elections in show of good faith to the movement led by cleric Moutada al-Sadr, a prominent rival of the CF.
“For the return of the Sadrist bloc’s deputies, there is no solution without early elections,” Khazali said, noting that “the CF is ready to respond to all the Sadrist movement logical demands and does not want to exclude the latter.”
Iraqis are still waiting for the country’s politicians to form a government since the anticipated parliamentary elections that took place last October, with political elites unable to find an agreement.
According to Khazali, the CF is open to solutions, did not carry out any provocation, and was objective and practical, stressing that “we are ready for the [Sadrist] movement to participate in the government as per the same number of Sadrist MP’s that have resigned.”
The U.S. Should not Bring Ukraine into NATO by Whatever Name – With war still raging between Russia and Ukraine, Kyiv is looking for future military allies. “We are working to ensure that the strongest subjects of the free world become guarantors of the security of our state,” declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week.
But that is just Kyiv’s interim goal. Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office, urged the creation of what he called the Kyiv Security Compact until NATO membership is granted. He explained: “In order to successfully implement these tasks, Ukraine must get a guaranteed safety after the war. This means that we should receive reliable international security guarantees for the time period until Ukraine becomes a full member of the EU and NATO.”
Along with former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, fellow co-chair of the Working Group On International Security Guarantees for Ukraine, Yermak released a detailed plan to create the equivalent of NATO membership until the real deal was available. The report explained: “Ukraine’s aspiration to join NATO and benefit from its mutual defense arrangements is safeguarded in its Constitution. This aspiration is the sovereign decision of Ukraine. In the interim period Ukraine needs iron-clad security guarantees. These will come predominantly—though not exclusively—from NATO countries.”
Such global unity has never existed, except in the fevered hopes of U.S. officials. Biden neglected to mention that virtually all of the 40 countries contributing to Ukraine’s defense are NATO members or other U.S. allies and security dependents. Support elsewhere in the world for sanctions and other components of its policy against Moscow has been notable by its absence.
Barely one month into the Ukraine war, Hudson Institute scholar Walter Russell Mead noted Washington’s lack of success in broadening the anti-Russia coalition beyond the network of traditional U.S. allies.
As Israel was launching a deadly assault on Gaza, killing thousands of civilians and displacing more than 100,000 people, many of America’s top TV, music and film producers were organizing to protect the apartheid state’s reputation from widespread international condemnation.
Together, the Sony Archive – a cache of emails published by Wikileaks – prove that influential entertainment magnates attempted to whitewash Israeli crimes and present the situation as defending itself from an impending “genocide”, liaised with Israeli military and government officials in order to coordinate their message, attempted to cancel those who spoke out against the injustice, and put financial and social pressure on institutions who hosted artists criticizing the apartheid government’s actions.
AS ISRAEL ATTACKS, HOLLYWOOD PLAYS DEFENSE
“[Israel’s message] Must be repeated ad infinitum until the people get it,” wrote Hollywood lawyer and producer Glenn D. Feig, in an email chain to many of Tinsel Town’s most influential executives. This was in response to the unprovoked 2014 Israeli attack on Gaza, one of the bloodiest chapters in over half a century of occupation.
Named “Operation Protective Edge”, the Israeli military engaged in seven weeks of near-constant bombing of the densely populated coastal strip. According to the United Nations, over 2,000 people were killed – a quarter of them children. 18,000 houses were destroyed, leaving more than 100,000 people homeless.
The Israeli military deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure, knocking out Gaza’s only power plant and shutting down its water treatment plants, leading to economic, social and ecological devastation in an area Human Rights Watch has labeled the world’s largest “open air prison”.
This was awkward…
Joe Biden’s former Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Sunday appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to discuss the upcoming midterm elections.
A fugitive defense contractor nicknamed “Fat Leonard” who claims to have incriminating sex photos of U.S. Navy brass could become the latest bargaining chip in Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s efforts to win official recognition from the Biden administration, according to experts.
But it’s unclear how hard the U.S. government will fight for the return of Leonard Glenn Francis, the Malaysian owner of a ship servicing company in Southeast Asia who is the central character in one of the largest bribery scandals in Pentagon history.
