In January, an underwater volcano in the South Pacific called Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai erupted, sending a massive ash plume up into the sky where it reached 187,000 feet. The result was a cloud of darkness that created a global “diming” effect that will probably be felt for years to come with reduced crop yields.

You see, crops need unimpeded sunlight to reach their full potential. And all that persistent ash and water vapor that was left behind from the eruption prevented that sunlight from reaching the earth’s surface.

The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption is said to be the first ever recorded that broke through the third layer of the atmosphere, called the mesosphere. (Related: Hundreds of climate scientists have called for Bill Gates’ “sun dimming” projects to be immediately halted.)

Russian Su-35s Are Hunting Ukrainian Warplanes With Long-Range Hypersonic Air-To-Air Missiles (Video)

Su-35S multirole fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have recently begun to carry R-37M long-range hypersonic air-to-air missiles while conducting patrols over the special military operation zone in Ukraine.

On November 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video documenting one such patrol. The video shows a Su-35S armed with two R-37M missiles along with two R-73 short-range air-to-air missiles, two R-77 medium-range air-to-air missiles and a Kh-31P anti-radar missile.

The maker of the above video was jailed for 32 months for producing it.

BBC headline. Click to enlarge

According to Judge Robert Linford, Graham Hart, 69, had “set out to whip feelings of hatred to members of the Jewish faith” with anti-Semitic rants over a four-year period.

We leave readers to decide if his “crime” warranted jailing Hart for nearly three years? We ask because there are NO calls for violence in the above video nor anything ethnically derogatory. Seriously, all it does is call into question many of the things we are taught about the Holocaust, which have never been catagorically proven as fact.

Such as portions of Anne Frank’s diary that were written in ball point pen, which was not invented till the 1950’s.

Russia launches sixth early warning Kupol satellite

2 November, Soyuz-2 lifts off from Plesetsk Cosmodrome, carrying the sixth satellite of Russia’s next-generation early warning system, photo: Ministry of defense of Russia

Russia’s Soyuz-2.1b rocket launched from Site 43/4 at Plesetsk Cosmodrome, carrying the sixth Kupol satellite of Russia’s next-generation early warning system. Upon reaching orbit, the spacecraft was assigned the serial number “Cosmos-2563”. The Russian ministry of defense announced “the telemetry connection with the spacecraft is stable and on-board systems of the device operate normally.”

The ministry did not provide any information about the mission neither what playload the spacecraft was carrying. According to the specialized website Russian Space web, this is the sixth satellite of the Kupol series of satellites (known as Tundra) or Edinaya Kosmicheskaya Sistema (EKS). These satellites are the next generation of Russia’s early warning satellites.

The joint exercises of the United States, Great Britain and Australia "Project Convergence" (Project Convergence) began in California.

The exercises simulate hypothetical battles against Russia on the territory of Europe. They are held at the Fort Irwin base in the Mojave Desert, the relief of which, according to the organizers of the exercises, resembles the Ukrainian steppes.

As part of the exercises, the use of "clusters of reconnaissance drones", specially adapted for moving autonomous M-Raza buggies in desert conditions, as well as British GMLRS guided missile launch systems, which work out targets based on tips received as a result of the involvement of American F-35 fighter-bombers, is being practiced.

The United Arab Emirates is engaged in a longstanding espionage attempt to compromise the United States government, according to three intelligence officials interviewed by The Washington Post.

The Gulf Arab nation’s interference in American politics takes the form of political bribery as well as more traditional espionage, as per a report reviewed by the officials in question, according to the Post.

Agents of the Middle Eastern kingdom rely on “campaign contributions, susceptibility to powerful lobbying firms and lax enforcement of disclosure laws intended to guard against interference by foreign governments” according to a verbal summary of the report described to the Post and published Saturday.

A town in New Hampshire just set a new standard for the new normal.

In an era where distortions of sexual reality has become commonplace — supporters of Lia Thomas making a mockery of women’s athletics for instance, or Sports Illustrated sporting “transgender women” in its previously iconic swimsuit issue — it might seem like even the outrage is getting old.

But along came a pageant in Derry, New Hampshire, to take things to a new low.

In a betrayal of good faith, good sportsmanship and good sense, the Miss Greater Derry Scholarship Program last week crowned 19-year-old Brian Nguyen its winner for 2023. It was an undeniable win for Nguyen and the small circle of dismayingly deluded individuals who think overweight men compare favorably to lithe young women in evening gowns.

For the sane segment of humanity, however, it was a time for utter disbelief.

Obvious aesthetics aside, the young women here were competing in a contest they had every right to believe they had a chance of winning, and a contest specifically designed for their age and their sex.

As it turns out, they’d clearly been defrauded.

Daytime sheriff’s deputy patrols will soon be a thing of the past in Tehama County, California, a small rural inland county north of Sacramento.

A statement from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said it can no longer cover all shifts in the roughly 65,000-person county.

“Beginning November 20, 2022, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office will suspend day-time patrol services to its designated areas of responsibility within Tehama County. This added reduction of services is necessary to manage a catastrophic staffing shortage throughout the agency,” according to a release from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.

For much of the past year (and certainly at the time, more than a year ago, when the so-called experts, central bankers and macrotourists were still yapping about "transitory inflation" and other things they were wrong about and do not understand), we were warning that at some point the Fed will realize that it is simply impossible to contain supply-driven inflation through stubborn rate hikes which instead would lead to a dire alternative - millions in mass layoffs and newly unemployed workers - and will revise its 2% inflation target higher, a move which will send every risk asset, from high-beta trash and meme stonks, to blue-chip icons, to bitcoin and cryptos, limit up.

To remind readers of this coming phase shift, we most recently warned in June that "at some point Fed will concede it has no control over supply. That's when we will start getting leaks of raising the inflation target"...

We recently discussed a troubling conviction in Great Britain of a man for his “toxic ideology.” Now Ireland appears ready to replicate that case a thousand fold. The proposed Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022 would criminalize the possession of material deemed hateful.

It is a full frontal assault on speech and associational rights. The law would allow for sweeping authoritarian measures in defining opposing viewpoints hateful. Ireland appears to be picking up the cudgel of speech criminalization from Britain, an abusive power once used against the Irish.

The law is a free speech nightmare.  Even before addressing the crime of possession of harmful material, the law would “provide for an offence of condoning, denying or grossly trivialising genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes against peace.” The crime of condoning, denying or grossly trivailising” criminal conduct would make most autocrats blush. The lack of any meaningful definition invites arbitrary enforcement. The law expressly states the intent to combat “forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia by means of criminal law.”

he UK should house illegal immigrants in “simple, functional” spaces as opposed to luxury hotels in a bid to disincentivise “asylum shopping,” Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick has said.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, Jenrick said the UK “has an obligation to provide sanctuary to some of the many who flee war and persecution,” but the country’s generosity is being “abused” by illegal immigrants “skipping the queue in small boat crossings.”

More than 40,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the English Channel to reach the UK this year.

Sunday's batch of Arizona votes brought good news for Republican gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake

When the numbers from various counties were all added up, Lake had trimmed Democrat Katie Hobbs' lead by about 8,000 votes. With about 161,000 votes left to count, Hobbs is now up 26,011. In percentage terms, Hobbs leads 50.5% to 49.5% with 93% of the votes counted.

About 58% of the remaining ballots are in Maricopa County. While Lake is gaining ground as Maricopa's tallies increasingly represent votes from Republican-heavy Phoenix suburbs and exurbs, some observers say Sunday's results make it less likely that Lake will snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Lake won 54.6% of Sunday's reported Maricopa votes, compared to 45.4% for Hobbs. "For [Monday's] drop to be relevant, I was looking for at least a Lake 58/42 [split]," tweeted ABC15 political analyst Garrett Archer, a former elections analyst for the Arizona secretary of state.

Lake's hurdle for the remaining statewide ballots is high: She'll need about 58.1% of them to pull off the buzzer-beater.

France will welcome the Ocean Viking and its 234 illegal immigrants “on an exceptional basis,” President Macron’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced on Thursday, Nov. 10, after several days of wrangling with Italy.

Darmanin also said that a third of the passengers would be “relocated” in France after disembarking in the port of Toulon.

“Because of Italy’s stubborn refusal and lack of humanity,” France had to allow the ship to dock, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna noted.

The Ocean Viking flies a Norwegian flag but is chartered by the French NGO SOS Méditerranée, whose headquarters are in Marseille.

It had been waiting for 20 days for permission to dock in an Italian port, but the Meloni government refused.

Election integrity was paramount on Jan. 30, 2005, when Iraq held its first free election in years to choose an entirely new National Assembly. Retired Marine Reserve Colonel Frank Ryan, today a Republican state representative in the Pennsylvania House, had been called out of retirement and was responsible for pulling together election security with the interim Iraqi government.

It was important that voting was simple for citizens and that they had confidence in the results.

People waiting to vote in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2005. (Frank Ryan)

Ryan was one of the few Americans permitted at Iraqi polling places. He attended the Iraqi government meeting when they were counting the ballots that election night.

“They did a tremendous job of making sure that they had a bipartisan group of people monitoring the counting of the ballots,” Ryan said.

“And by the way, we got the electoral results done the same day. Just saying.”

In the end, some people were disappointed their candidate didn’t win, but there were not accusations of fraud, Ryan said, because the election had a robust system of controls.

“We worked with the Deputy Minister of National Security, and the Multinational Force Iraq, to make sure that we had all the polling places covered,” Ryan told The Epoch Times.

“We had the rules of engagement relative to the counting of the ballots. We had tremendous security of all the ballots. We knew how many were issued at the polling places. We had complete control. And then obviously, the ultimate control was the dye on the finger to determine that you’ve already voted.”

In January, 1944, the newly reconstituted German Sixth Army found itself in an operationally cataclysmic situation in the southern bend of the Dnieper River, in the area of Krivoi Rog and Nikopol. The Germans occupied a dangerous salient, jutting out precariously into the Red Army’s lines. Vulnerable on two awkward flanks, and facing an enemy with superiority in manpower and firepower, any general worth his salt would have sought to withdraw as soon as possible. In this case, however, Hitler insisted that the Wehrmacht hold the salient, because the region was Germany’s last remaining source of manganese - a mineral crucial for making high quality steel.

A year prior, in the opening weeks of 1943, Hitler had intervened in another, more famous battle, forbidding the previous incarnation of the Sixth Army from breaking out of a pocket forming around it at Stalingrad. Prohibited from withdrawing, the Sixth was annihilated wholesale.

General Armageddon

In both of these cases, there was a clash between pure military prudence and broader political aims and needs. In 1943, there was neither a compelling military nor political reason to keep the 6th Army in the pocket at Stalingrad - political intervention in military decision making was both senseless and disasterous. In 1944, however, Hitler (however difficult it is to admit it) had a valid argument. Without manganese from the Nikopol area, German war production was doomed. In this case, political intervention was perhaps warranted. Leaving an army in a vulnerable salient is bad, but so is running out of manganese.

These two tragic fates of the Sixth Army illustrate the salient issue today: how do we parse the difference between military and political decision making? More specifically, to what do we attribute the shocking Russian decision to withdraw from the west bank of the Dnieper in Kherson oblast, after annexing it just a few months ago?

For months the US has repeatedly tried to coerce India into cutting ties with Russia, thereby abandoning its national interests. New Delhi, however, continues to spurn American attempts to subject its economy to Washington’s dictates.

The latest fuss concerns the G7 price cap on Russian oil and EU and UK bans on shipping and related services for Russian crude. India continues to have no interest in joining the US-led initiative as it gets a steep discount on oil from Russia and wants to maintain the relationship with a long-time strategic partner. Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was just in Moscow on Nov. 8 to discuss continued sales of oil. From the South China Morning Post:

India’s foreign minister hailed New Delhi’s “strong and steady” relationship with Moscow on Tuesday, during his first visit there since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also declared India’s intention to continue to buy Russian oil, again disregarding the US appeal to allies and partners to isolate Russia from the global markets.

Cognitive dissonance is when people feel discomfort due to discrepancies in their own thoughts or beliefs.

As an example, someone who takes pride in being honest, feels such discomfort when he tells a lie.

Another example of cognitive dissonance is the discomfort felt by members of a cult when they seek to explain how the end of the world was postponed, as their apocalyptic prophecy did not come true.

The term was in fact coined by psychologist Leon Festinger in his studies of such cults in the 1950s.

The opposite of cognitive dissonance is doublethink, a word that first appeared in George Orwell’s 1984.

The CEO of now-bankrupt FTX admitted that FTX was nothing more than a laundromat for the Ukrainian government.

Yesterday TGP reported that the now-bankrupt FTX was transferring money to Ukraine and then laundering money back from Ukraine to the Democrat party.

We’ve identified an interview where Bankman-Fried admitted that FTX was laundering money for the Ukrainian government.

All the money that the US sent to Ukraine over the past two decades needs to be audited and investigated.

How many billions of US dollars sent to Ukraine ended up back in the pockets of US politicians?

Webmaster addition: Is this the reason Congress voted down a bill requiring oversight on all that cash?

I have specifically avoided writing about Bitcoin despite having strong opinions on the subject. Bitcoin is a very hot topic, and most people have already made up their minds. In short, I think it has zero value but that argument has been made many times before so I couldn’t add anything new to the conversation.

Full disclosure, I have been in the Crypto market since 2013 and am net positive. That said, given recent market events, I cannot sit by in good conscience without giving fair warning. This is not a Bitcoin is worthless analysis, this is a wake-up call to push people to ask what is keeping this market from imploding. FTX isn’t the canary in the coal mine (that was Celsius, or one of the other firms that crashed this year). FTX is the coal mine, and it just collapsed.

I think the data shows that this market is being propped up by whales. If the dam breaks it could send markets crashing. Back on Oct 31, before anything happened with FTX, I texted a close friend:

My new theory is that the whales are not trying to pump the price anymore. Instead, they are trying to stabilize the price to win back institutional investors. I have never seen bitcoin price volatility so low over a 6 month stretch in 10 years. It just totally stopped moving after an epic collapse back in June. No bounce, no continuation, no nothing. Just super tight price range even while the stock market has continued falling.

I was led to this thinking after watching Bitcoin crash in June to ~19k and then just hold. It spent the next few months consolidating while the bond and stock markets went into turmoil. See the chart below with the simple price of SPY overlaid on top of Bitcoin since 2021. You may notice how steady the orange line has been since June 21, directly after the Bitcoin crash below $20k.
