Boeing could face criminal prosecution over two fatal 737 Max crashes after they were accused of violating a settlement which allowed them to avoid earlier charges.

The Justice Department will decide whether to pursue charges, amid increasing scrutiny over the safety of the company's planes, by July 7.

Boeing reached a $2.5 billion settlement with the Justice Department in January 2021 after two 737 Max jets crashed in 2018 and 2019, killing 346 people.

The settlement allowed Boeing to avoid prosecution on a single charge of fraud - misleading regulators who approved the 737 Max - but set out certain terms that Boeing had to comply with for the next three years.

The Justice Department alleges Boeing has since breached the 2021 settlement, opening themselves up to criminal prosecution.

A three year hunt for patterns hidden in the roars, sighs, and other noises made by Indonesia's orangutans has discovered 'a full spectrum' of complex vocalizations.

The breakthrough comes hot on the heels of other recent discoveries further revealing the depth of the great ape's intelligence — including one orangutan's practice of healing its own injuries with a self-prepared medicinal herb.

The research team reinforced their analysis by testing artificial intelligence (AI) detection methods against the painstaking work of biologists and bioacoustics scientists, employing only their trained ears, intellects and measurement tools.

The Cornell University-led team pooled together a dataset of 117 recorded 'long calls' made by 13 males of one particular species, the Bornean orangutan, employing 46 acoustic measurements on 1,033 distinct pulses detected within those calls.

'These features would seem to greatly boost the potential complexity of this signal,' they wrote, suggesting humanity might soon know what the great apes are saying.

The Biden administration told Congress Tuesday that it was moving forward with giving Israel more than $1 billion in new weapons despite President Joe Biden's warning he would withhold more bombs if there was a ground invasion of Rafah.

The Wall Street Journal reported the move citing officials who said that the weapons tranfer would include $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds.

It comes after Biden stalled one shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to send a message to Israel about attacking tightly packed urban areas as more than 1 million Palestinians have sought refuge in the southern Gaza city.

'We are continuing to send military assistance,' national security adviser Jake Sullivan said from the White House podium Monday. 'We have paused a shipment of 2,000-pound bombs because we don't believe they should be dropped in densely populated cities.'

A new Apple security feature helps users discover if someone is secretly tracking them via Bluetooth, one of many critical updates released as part of iOS 17.5 Monday.

The new operating system update for the company's iPhone also introduced more word games to Apple News+, making it more like a traditional newspaper, as well as robust security improvements to Apple's Maps, Notes and Find My apps.

The update came alongside a sweeping series of updates to nearly all of Apple's hardware operating systems, from macOS Sonoma 14.5 on its desktop and laptop computers, to tvOS 17.5 for its Apple TV boxes.

But iPhone's iOS 17.5 protects one of the most critical systems that customers will want to update if they want to limit their exposure to clandestine spying risks.

iOS 17.5's new Cross-Platform Tracking Protection notifications will now alert users 'if a compatible Bluetooth tracker they do not own is moving with them, regardless of what operating system the device is paired with,' according to the company.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell admitted that inflation has remained more persistent than officials expected meaning interest rates could remain higher longer in the midst of an election year.

The remarks on Tuesday came as President Joe Biden repeated a false claim about the higher prices that have plagued his first term in office - stating inflation was 9 percent when he took office when it was actually 1.4 percent.

'We did not expect this to be a smooth road, but these were higher than I think anybody expected,' Powell said on Tuesday referring to the lack of progress combatting inflation.

Mayor Eric Adams has suggested migrants could be used to plug lifeguard shortages because they are 'excellent swimmers'.

The New York City leader said the deficit could be solved if work permits for migrants could be expedited.

'How do we have a large body of people in our city that are excellent swimmers and at the same time we need lifeguards,' Adams said at a City Hall briefing on Tuesday.

'And the only obstacle is that we won't give them the right to work to become a lifeguard. That just doesn't make sense.'

An EPA whistleblower has come forward with shocking claims over the government's response to the toxic East Palestine train derailment.

Robert Kroutil, a scientist who spent four decades in government agencies, claimed to NewsNation that the EPA strayed from its normal safety procedures when testing for hazardous contamination around the crash site.

He alleged that leaders delayed in deploying a chemical testing plane for five days, but still decided that evacuated residents were free to return to their homes after only three days.

Residents who returned home quickly reported adverse reactions, including rashes, breathing problems and nausea.

'That deployment was the most unusual deployment I’ve ever seen,' Kroutil said of the testing aircraft. 'You just wouldn’t do it that way.'

Dame Judi Dench has suggested if people are sensitive enough to need a trigger warning, then they should stay away from the theatre.

The actress, widely considered one of Britain’s greatest actors, said she was shocked to learn that such pre-show warnings even exist.

Trigger warnings ahead of performances have become increasingly commonplace in recent years, warning audiences of violence, abuse, bereavement, loud noises and even references to smoking.

When asked about her opinion on such alerts, the 89-year-old Bond star told this week's Radio Times: 'My God, it must be a pretty long trigger warning before King Lear or Titus Andronicus.

Joe Biden has made no bones about his woke agenda. The “moderate” Democrat has done whatever the far left has told him to do. From the environment to immigration, Biden is prioritizing policies that make Bernie Sanders look like Ronald Reagan.

Despite facing a devastating November election, his administration continues to push extreme, progressive policies.

The latest appears to be an attempt to impose radical gender ideology onto businesses. Biden’s White House is trying to reinterpret sexual harassment to include using the wrong pronouns for a transgender employee. Now, eighteen states are fighting back.

From Daily Wire:
On Monday, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti led a coalition of 18 states in filing a lawsuit against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) after it released new sexual harassment guidance extending Title VII’s protections against sex-based discrimination to cover gender identity…

“…This end-run around our constitutional institutions misuses federal power to eliminate women’s private spaces and punish the use of biologically-accurate pronouns, all at the expense of Tennessee employers.”

Trump secured a strong, conservative majority for the Supreme Court. Since then, Democrats have been on the warpath. They have tried to make a case for dismantling the highest court as we know it. They want to impose term limits or pack the court with more liberal justices.

To that end, they have tried to smear the reputations of many respected, conservative justices.

Because he is the longest-serving conservative, they have been merciless to Justice Clarence Thomas. While speaking about his life and work, Thomas singled out what is going on in DC. And he is dropping a hammer on the swamp that is trying to destroy himself and his family.

From CNN:
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas repeatedly pushed back on his critics during remarks Friday at a judicial conference in Alabama, lamenting what he described as the “nastiness” and “lies” directed at him and calling Washington a “hideous place.”…

“They don’t bomb you, necessarily, but they bomb your reputation or your good name or your honor. And that’s not a crime but they can do as much harm that way.”…

“My wife and I, the last two or three years, it’s been – just the nastiness and the lies – it’s just incredible,” Thomas said.

Last night, air defense systems shot down ATACMS missiles over Crimea, and French HAMMER bombs, MLRS shells and drones over Belgorod, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported.

"During the past night, a number of attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using American ATACMS tactical missiles, French guided HAMMER bombs, American HARM anti-radar missiles, large—caliber rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles of an airplane type against objects on the territory of the Russian Federation were suppressed," the publication says.

Thus, two American HARM anti-radar missiles, two French guided Hammer bombs, two MLRS Alder rockets and nine drones were destroyed over the Belgorod region. Ten American ATACMS missiles tried to attack Crimea.

Five more drones were shot down over the Kursk region, three intercepted over the territory of the Bryansk region.

US President Joe Biden's threat to withhold weapons from Israel if it goes ahead with a major offensive in Rafah is an election bluff to prevent defections from the Democratic Party amid plunging public support for the Gaza war, two former Western ambassadors to Arab nations and an ex-CIA station chief in Syria told Sputnik.

Last week, Biden said Washington would restrict the supply of weapons to Israel if the latter launched a major military incursion into Rafah. The warning came as the Israeli army started a military operation in the eastern parts of Rafah and took control of the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

The US has also paused one shipment of weapons for Israel consisting of 1,800 2,000-pound bombs and 1,700 500-pound bombs. A State Department report published on Friday found that it is "reasonable to assess" that US-provided defense articles have been used by Israeli security forces since October 7 "in instances inconsistent with its IHL obligations or with established best practices for mitigating civilian harm," but stopped short of reaching any definitive conclusion.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made a surprise visit to Kiev just as the Ukrainian armed forces are on the retreat in Kharkov and Donetsk. What's really behind Blinken's Ukraine trip?

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kiev on May 14, just days ahead of Volodymyr Zelensky's draconian mobilization law coming into force.

Despite the approval of a $60 billion aid package for Ukraine by the US Congress, the nation's armed forces are grappling with severe manpower shortages, exhaustion and grim morale amid continuous retreats.

"Western media report that Blinken will send a strong signal of confidence to Kiev. In my opinion, on the contrary, such a hasty unannounced visit to Ukraine in the current conditions should rather raise alarm bells," Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and the Other Ukraine movement expert, told Sputnik.

According to Dudchak, Blinken has come to Kiev to evaluate the situation on the ground and offer new tougher conditions to Zelensky amid Ukraine's failures on the battlefield.

One of those conditions will be to speed up mobilization and throw more Ukrainians into the conflict's meat grinder, the expert said.

The Russian army has adopted the Bulava sea-based intercontinental ballistic missile. The adoption was confirmed by the general designer of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering. The decree was officially signed on May 7, 2024.

Bulava is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is designed to arm submarines of Project 955 (Borey) and Project 955A (Borey-A). It is one of the cornerstones of Russia’s nuclear triad, and is one of the most expensive weapons project in the country.

Designed by Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology, development of the missile was launched in the late 1990s as a replacement for the R-39 Rif solid-fuel SLBM. The Project 955/955A Borei-class submarines carry 16 missiles per vessel. The range of the missile exceeds nine thousand kilometers. The missile has up to ten hypersonic maneuvering nuclear warheads of individual guidance with a capacity of 100-150 kilotons each.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reportedly informed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that Washington’s long-delayed military aid is now “on its way” and is expected to make a “real difference,” according to several media outlets.

Blinken arrived in Kiev on Tuesday morning for a previously undisclosed meeting with the country’s leadership. His visit marks the fourth time he has traveled to Ukraine and comes after Congress approved President Joe Biden’s $61 billion military aid package for the country last month.

While no official statements have yet been released regarding Blinken’s meeting with Zelensky, the Associated Press and Reuters have reported he told the Ukrainian leader that “in the near term the assistance is now on the way, some of it has already arrived and more of it will be arriving,” adding that it is “going to make a real difference against the ongoing Russian aggression on the battlefield.”

A clip showing a Russian high-precision drone strike against a Ukrainian Soviet-made BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher has emerged on social media.

The weapon system was discovered by Russian troops somewhere in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region, according to the Telegram channel that published the clip. Moscow’s forces have been engaged in offensive operations in the region in recent days. In the video, a drone operator can be seen pinpointing the rocket launcher’s location and locking his kamikaze UAV on the target before striking it.

The clip ends with the Grad going up in flames. The strike resulted in a massive explosion since the launcher was apparently fully loaded. According to some media reports, Russian troops in Kharkov Region have been successfully using kamikaze Lancet drones to isolate Ukrainian forces in the area and strip them of fire support by specifically targeting artillery and missile launchers.

Britain will not support any solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine that involves what it sees as concessions to Moscow, Defense Secretary Grant Shapps told Times Radio on Tuesday.

The UK has been among the largest arms donors to Kiev. In recent weeks, London has stepped up its rhetoric by saying that British weapons supplied to Ukraine may be used for attacks deep inside Russia. Moscow recently summoned the UK ambassador over the matter and warned of possible retaliation, including strikes targeting “any British military facilities and equipment” in Ukraine and beyond.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shapps confirmed that Kiev could use British-supplied weapons to strike Russia’s Crimean Peninsula. London considers the region, which joined Russia in 2014 following a referendum, to be an “integral part of Ukraine,” the defense secretary stated.

One of the regular readers of this website who happens to live in Great Britain recently complained in one of our website vidchats that the way that country was going, it would soon have to change its name from "the United Kingdom" to "the United Kingdumb," because its policies are vying with those of the Bai Den Dzhao Misadministration for bottomless corruption, studied and stultifying stupidity, and wacky wokery. Well, I liked that moniker "the United Kingdumb" so much I asked its creator if I could use it and permission was granted, so I herewith do so, because no other name will suffice once the absurdity of today's story sinks in.   As for the rest of the headline for today's blog, patience, we'll get there.

In any case, that regular reader's quip about "the United Kingdumb" might just be be true if this latest attempt to plumb the full depths of gas-baggery is true; get a load of this (and brace yourself, because it's even more colossally stupid than a Bai Den Dzhao press conference, or an explanation and defense of the Grifter-in-Chief's latest gaffe by Karim Abdul what's-her-name, or a Justin Trudeau edict, could ever be):

Now if that headline isn't enough to have you already disgusted and scratching your head, just try and wrap your noodle around the following authors that some wacked out wackos in the U.K. are now profiling as part of the attempt to profile potential "right wing extremism" on the part of "anti-terrorism experts"; please join me in a deep belly laugh at the absurdity of this list:

Discussions are underway in Ukraine to move the nation's Capital from Kiev to Lviv because Ukraine is losing its war with Russia. Meanwhile in Kharkov, residents are fleeing en-masse as the Russian Army approaches.

Russia continues it's northern storm front southward toward Kharkiv, Ukraine's  second largest city, and from the east toward the heavily fortified city of Chasiv Yar, once thought to be impenetrable.

In the past two days alone, an additional 30,000+ Russian troops have taken over a dozen towns, villages.

Despite massive financial and military support from the collective West, Ukraine is simply unable to defend itself any longer.  Even the American media outlet "The Hill" writes: "further efforts to defeat Russia militarily are hopeless; Russian forces have a significant advantage, and the position of Ukrainian forces is rapidly deteriorating. Ukraine will never win the war and recapture the lost territories"
