Seven-in-ten Americans are worried about the 2024 election spiraling into violence, a DailyMail.com/TIPP poll shows.

Fully 70 percent of respondents were worried about rising tensions in the White House race between President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump.

Another 26 percent said they were not concerned, and 4 percent said they were not sure.

Our survey of nearly 1,300 US adults comes at the start of Trump's trial in New York for hush money payments to a porn star — part of what the Republican frames as a political hit-job against him.

Israeli tanks have pushed back into some areas of the northern Gaza Strip which they had left weeks ago, while warplanes have conducted air raids on Rafah, where more than one million displaced Palestinians have sought refuge in the south of the territory, killing and wounding several people.

Residents reported an internet outage in the areas of Beit Hanoon and Jabalia in northern Gaza on Tuesday.

Tanks advanced into Beit Hanoon and surrounded some schools where displaced families have taken refuge, said the residents.

“Occupation soldiers ordered all families inside the schools and the nearby houses where the tanks had advanced to evacuate. The soldiers detained many men,” a resident of northern Gaza told Reuters via a chat app.

Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday accused Trump of intimidating a juror who admitted she posted a pro-Biden video to her Facebook page.

Jury selection was still underway on Tuesday in the Stormy Daniels ‘hush money’ trial after more than 50 prospective jurors were dismissed from the jury pool on Monday.

One potential juror was brought in for questioning after Trump’s lawyers discovered she posted a pro-Biden celebratory video in 2020.

“You had to get in the car to spread the honking cheer. it’s a full on dance party at 96th street,” the potential juror’s caption read according to Trump attorney Todd Blanche.

President Trump was allegedly gesturing and ‘audibly speaking in the direction of the potential juror’ while she was being questioned about her pro-Biden social media post.

Judge Merchan accused Trump of intimidating the juror.

The International Monetary Fund sounded the alarm on the Biden administration’s rampant spending as “out of line with what is needed for long-term fiscal stability.”

The latest forecast from the IMF — a Washington-based group tasked with fighting financial crises worldwide — warned that the ballooning national debt and the fiscal deficit threatened to exacerbate sky-high levels of inflation while posing a long-term risk to the global economy.

The IMF noted in its forecast that the US federal budget deficit grew from $1.4 trillion in fiscal 2022 to $1.7 trillion last year.

On Saturday, April 13, Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel in retaliation for a deadly Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, that took place on April 1.

The vast majority of the projectiles were intercepted by Israel’s air defense system, with assistance from the ever-helpful United States military, and damage was minimal. Having completed its retaliation, Iran has now declared that the matter can “be deemed concluded” – although Israel is not usually one to let anyone else have the last word.

The U.S. attorney’s office stated on Tuesday that a former financial counselor for the United States Army had entered a guilty plea to cheating the families of slain service members out of life insurance premiums.

(Photo via: @LincRight X public profile)

According to the organization, Gold Star family members are eligible to a $100,000 payment plus the service member’s life insurance, which can be up to $400,000, if they are the immediate beneficiary of a service member who has died while serving in the military on active duty.

Prosecutors said that Colts Neck, New Jersey, resident “Caz Craffy,” 41, entered a guilty plea to taking more than $9.9 million from multiple Gold Star families to invest in accounts that Craffy handled in his personal capacity without the families’ consent.

In addition to serving as a financial counselor with the Casualty Assistance Office as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army, Craffy was a major in the U.S. Army Reserves, having enrolled there since 2003, according to the prosecution.

Prosecutors claim that between May 2018 and November 2022, Craffy earned over $1.4 million in commissions while the Gold Star family accounts lost over $3.7 million.

MSNBC's Joy Reid celebrated former President Donald Trump's prosecution as a "wonderfully poetic" form of racial revenge against whitey.

"For me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact that the first person to criminally prosecute Donald Trump is a black Harvard grad," Reid said Tuesday on MSNBC. "And a black woman is doing the same exact thing in Georgia. And a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million dollar fine."

"Donald Trump is being held to account by the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he's trying to dismantle," Reid boasted. "Go DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home."

Iran’s reprisal attack on Israel has delayed Israeli plans to invade the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, CNN reported on Monday, citing Israeli sources.

The sources said that the Israeli Air Force was set to drop leaflets on Rafah on Monday to tell the more than 1 million civilians who are in the city that an offensive was coming. But the plan was put on hold as the Israeli War Cabinet is debating how to respond to Iran firing over 300 missiles and drones at Israeli territory, which came in response to Israel bombing Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

The US has claimed it’s opposed to an Israeli invasion of Rafah since it would incur huge civilian casualties and further disrupt aid coming in from Egypt. But the fact that Israel was planning to drop leaflets on the city demonstrates that President Biden is not putting any real pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is worried that Israel might strike Iran’s nuclear program in response to the Iranian drone and missile attack on Israeli territory, which was a reprisal for Israel bombing Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi told reporters on Monday that Iran temporarily closed its nuclear facilities on Sunday over security concerns and that the agency’s inspectors did not return to the facilities when they reopened on Monday.

“We are always concerned about this possibility,” Grossi said of a potential Israeli attack. He said IAEA inspectors would return on Tuesday. “I decided to not let the inspectors return until we see that the situation is completely calm,” he said.

Israel has a history of targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in covert attacks, including a 2021 drone attack that damaged IAEA cameras at a centrifuge facility, which impeded the IAEA’s inspection regime.

The United Nations on Monday expressed concern about the uptick in cholera cases in Yemen, especially in areas of the war-ravaged country controlled by Houthi rebels, where 75 people have died since October.

"Since October last year, we have seen an alarming resurgence of cholera across the country," UN official Edem Wosornu told the Security Council, speaking on behalf of humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths.

Noting that the last cholera epidemic in Yemen dated back to 2019, Wosornu said while the response in government-controlled areas had slowed the spread of the illness and provided treatment for those affected, Houthi-run areas were in need.

"Since March, we have seen the outbreak spread rapidly in areas controlled by the Houthi de facto authorities," the official said.

Prior to the Israeli military’s slaughter of seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid workers in Gaza this month, Middle East Eye (MEE) reports that at least 357 humanitarian-run sites and convoys had been attacked.

As with the incident involving the slain WCK workers which included an American citizen, the humanitarian orgs shared their coordinates in advance of operations with the warring parties. Israel hit them anyway and UN officials have warned of great difficulty in repairing the broken humanitarian notification system.

Current data shows that at least 216 aid workers have been killed during Israel’s indiscriminate bombing and relentless war on the Palestinian people trapped in the besieged, highly dense, coastal enclave. Aid workers told MEE the “scale of the incidents was unprecedented, even compared to the most dangerous war zones and emergencies they have experienced.” The vast majority of aid workers slaughtered have been employed by UNRWA, the UN aid agency for Palestinian refugees.

At the time I resigned in early March, I was the only staff member of Palestinian descent at World Central Kitchen (WCK).1 I resigned in protest of extensive, unexplained censorship regarding Gaza at the organization. WCK leadership is taking a stand six months too late, only after 7 of its personnel were killed.

World Central Kitchen is a food relief NGO, founded by celebrity chef José Andrés in response to 2010’s disastrous earthquake in Haiti. While the vast majority of the organization’s work is in response to natural disasters, WCK had made exceptions, including feeding the National Guard and law enforcement during the January 6 insurrection, and in 2022 activated wholesale in Ukraine.

On December 7 of last year, I sent this letter to World Central Kitchen’s executive team, along with a request to discuss its points in an open conversation mediated by an ombudsman, a resource hired by the organization in the wake of last year’s sexual harassment scandal. The letter called for WCK to join other regionally active NGOs in calling for a ceasefire and condemning Israel’s blockade, conform its language in coverage of Gaza to the standard set by its coverage of Ukraine, and an immediate cessation in meal service in Israel. It garnered 43 signatures from WCK staff, contractors, and Chef Corps volunteers at a time when the organization’s largest Slack channel had 101 employees. The entire WCK executive team declined the meeting, and failed to respond when the ombudsman reached out to them. WCK continued to actively serve meals in Israel until the second day of the ICJ genocide hearing in January.

The UN’s Human Rights Office said on Tuesday that Israel is still imposing “unlawful” restrictions on aid entering Gaza despite US and Israeli claims that there’s been an increase in deliveries, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

After Israel slaughtered seven workers for the World Central Kitchen on April 1, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government made a commitment to allow more aid into the Strip, but the UN says aid levels are still way below the bare minimum of what’s needed.

“Israel continues to impose unlawful restrictions on the entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance and to carry out widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure,” said Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN Human Rights Office.

Shamdasani added that “those delivering or trying to access humanitarian assistance must never be attacked.” Last week, UNICEF workers reported that a vehicle they were traveling in was hit by Israeli gunfire, but nobody was hurt.

In an article titled “Israel vows to retaliate against Iran for missile attacks,” Axios reports that the Israeli defense minister has informed his American counterpart that Israel “has no choice” but to attack Iran for the retaliatory strike it launched in response to Israel’s deadly attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus.

“Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Sunday that Israel has no choice but to respond to the unprecedented missile and drone attack launched by Iran over the weekend,” reports Axios, citing an anonymous US official and another unnamed source.

The state of Israel has been churning out massive lies on a daily basis for the last six months, but this whopper could wind up being the most consequential.

The circus which has set up its big top on the 15th floor of a rather dingy Manhattan court building will be captivating most of America soon enough — and much of the rest of the world, too.

Whether it will also provide a compelling case against Trump is another matter. Dozy Don faces 88 criminal charges in cases spread across four states.

Many Democrats, who would love to see him go down for one or all the indictments, are dismayed that the first one up is the New York case that they, along with legal experts and political commentators, fear is the weakest — and that, even if Trump is found guilty, voters will struggle to understand that what he did was really criminal.

T his also plays to Trump's oft-repeated claim that he is the victim of political persecution by Democratic activists, including many in the Biden administration, who are using the law against him because they fear they can't beat him at the ballot box.

The way he sees it, the proceedings have all the hallmarks of a show trial. Trump will be judged by an overwhelmingly Democratic jury in a trial presided over by a Democratic judge and brought about by a Democratic District Attorney.

Israeli forces besieged a school in Gaza’s Beit Hanoun where hundreds of forcibly displaced Palestinians were sheltering on Tuesday.

According to local media, Israeli forces entered the school on Monday evening at a time when communications and the Internet were cut off.

Israeli soldiers called on young men inside the school through loudspeakers to exit the school, before stripping them of their clothes.

Women and children in the school were told to leave and move south at gunpoint.

A voice recording posted by doctor Abdallah Mohammed, from Gaza’s Shujayya neighbourhood confirmed reports, with the sound of screaming children, wails and gunshots were heard.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), one of Tel Aviv's prominent defence companies, owns 50% of Blue Bird's shares.

The attack by Israeli settlers on this Palestinian village was the worst anyone here could remember. There were pools of dried blood on the rooftop where assailants shot a man dead; a pile of lambs with their necks slit was thick with buzzing flies.

At least two Palestinians were killed in the rampage across West Bank villages near Ramallah over the weekend, according to residents, monitoring groups and paramedics, fueled by calls for retribution after a 14-year-old Israeli shepherd went missing in the surrounding area and was later found dead. The Israeli military said he was the victim of a “terrorist attack.”

The UN voiced grave concern Tuesday over escalating violence in the occupied West Bank, demanding that Israeli security forces "immediately" stop supporting settler attacks on Palestinians in the occupied territory.

With Israel's war on Gaza, the United Nations rights office decried that Palestinians in the West Bank had been "subjected to waves of attacks by hundreds of Israeli settlers, often accompanied or supported by Israeli security forces (ISF)".

"The Israeli security forces must immediately end their active participation in and support for settler attacks on Palestinians," rights office spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told reporters in Geneva.

"Israeli authorities must instead prevent further attacks, including by bringing those responsible to account."

The United States shot down more drones and missiles than Israel did on Saturday night during Iran’s attack, The Intercept can report.

More than half of Iran’s weapons were destroyed by U.S. aircraft and missiles before they ever reached Israel. In fact, by commanding a multinational air defense operation and scrambling American fighter jets, this was a U.S. military triumph.

The extent of the U.S. military operation is unbeknownst to the American public, but the Pentagon coordinated a multination, regionwide defense extending from northern Iraq to the southern Persian Gulf on Saturday. During the operation, the U.S., U.K., France, and Jordan all shot down the majority of Iranian drones and missiles. In fact, where U.S. aircraft originated from has not been officially announced, an omission that has been repeated by the mainstream media. Additionally, the role of Saudi Arabia is unclear, both as a base for the United States and in terms of any actions by the Saudi military.

Jordan's involvement in intercepting Iranian projectiles bound for Israel over the weekend has sparked questions about its security relationship with Israel, in a country with the highest population of Palestinian refugees.

Amman joined Israel, the US, UK and France in shooting down around 300 drones and missiles on Saturday night, in the first direct Iranian attack targeting Israeli territory.

The operation was in response to Israeli strikes on the Iranian consular building in Syria earlier this month that killed seven members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Jordan reportedly intercepted missiles near the Jordan Valley and along the border with Syria. It marked a rare occasion of an Arab country appearing to directly come to the defence of Israel.
