A Boeing 767 cargo plane has crashed upon landing in Turkey this morning after its landing gear failed when it came in to land.

The flight, operated by American postal service FedEx, took off from Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport early this morning and was headed for Istanbul when the pilot realised the landing gear was malfunctioning.

Shocking footage showed the moment the plane attempted an emergency landing, smashing down into the runway and scraping its nose along the concrete.

The Russian Federation will perceive F-16s in Ukraine as carriers of nuclear weapons, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, adding that Russia reserves the right to react in a mirror way to the deployment of American-made missiles.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's statements on the escalation in Ukraine:

The Russian Tactical nuclear weapons exercises should be viewed in the context of recent belligerent statements by Western officials and destabilizing actions by NATO.

We hope that exercises to test the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons will cool down the “hot heads” in Western capitals.

In response to the actions of the United States, the Russian Federation is intensifying its development and starting production of medium and shorter-range missile systems.

The United States is “at full speed” producing and testing medium and short-range missile systems in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The actions of NATO member countries indicate that they are deliberately heading towards an open military clash with Russia.

Last week saw a dramatic illustration of how far parts of the mainstream media has departed from the scientific process in its aim to catastrophise the climate and push society to accept the global Net Zero collectivisation. “London seeing more days above 30°C, experts say”, ran a BBC headline, with a reported suggestion that London must adapt to the “new reality”. But it turns out that the ‘experts’ have used “airport data for consistency across worldwide cities, including City Airport in London”. It is difficult to think of a more unsuitable dataset to promote notions of “extreme heat”, other than perhaps to take measurements next to the door of a blast furnace.

A payment system to help those left disabled after having a vaccine and families of those who died is to be reviewed after a rise in claims following the pandemic.

Health Secretary Victoria Atkins has asked officials in her department to look at how the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) could be reformed.

It comes amid concerns that it is struggling to cope following a huge number of claims from those suffering from side-effects after having the Covid-19 jab.

Claims rose to 4,008 last year – up from 480 in 2022, 26 in 2020 and 27 in 2019, official figures show. Separate data reveals that up to April 26 this year, 11,022 claims were made to the scheme in connection with Covid jabs.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine is being withdrawn worldwide, months after the pharmaceutical giant admitted for the first time in court documents that it can cause a rare and dangerous side effect.

The vaccine can no longer be used in the European Union after the company voluntarily withdrew its “marketing authorisation”. The application to withdraw the vaccine was made on March 5 and came into effect on Tuesday.

Similar applications will be made in the coming months in the UK and in other countries that had approved the vaccine, known as Vaxzevria.

The decision to withdraw it brings to an end the use of the jab, which was heralded by Boris Johnson as a “triumph for British science” and credited with saving more than six million lives.

The yacht, which made its debut sail in March 2024 across the Atlantic, has a gross tonnage of 5,000 tons and can cruise at speeds of up to 24 knots, providing an epic cruising experience for its owner. It currently holds the 45th position among the world’s largest yachts and even features a helipad for convenient air travel.

However, the internet is not simply in awe of the yacht’s stunning visuals and impressive features. Critics are slamming Zuckerberg, a vocal advocate for fighting climate change, for owning a private jet that reportedly burned over $158,000 in fuel within two months and now, this superyacht, which is considered one of the most polluting activities an individual can engage in.

Roman Abramovich’s yachts, for example, allegedly pump out over 22,000 tons of carbon a year, exceeding the emissions of some small countries, while Jeff Bezos’ $500 million yacht, Koru, contributes 7,000 tons annually.

The Boy Scouts of America is changing its 114-year-old name, according to a statement from the tech sector CEO who runs the fabled organization, in what seems to be a bid to deny the reality that boys are different from girls.

The new sexually-neutral name –“Scouting America” — will send “a really strong message to everyone in America that they can come to this program, they can bring their authentic self,” said Roger Krone, the organization’s president and CEO.

Krone’s “authentic self” phrase matches language used by transgender activists who oppose the public recognition that boys and girls, women and men, have different needs and desires.

Health officials have announced a recall of popular sweets sold at Walmart stores across the US due to concerns about contamination with deadly bacteria.

Iowa-based Palmer Candy Company voluntarily recalled its 'White Coated Confectionary Items' this week after finding they could be contaminated with salmonella, a foodborne illness that infects 1.3 million Americans a year.

The FDA said that affected products - mixtures of snacks like pretzels, popcorn and chocolates - were distributed nationwide in Walmart, HyVee, Target, and Dollar General stores.

They were also sent to distributors in the following states: Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

No illnesses have been reported.

The products were sold under several brand names, including Walmart's Great Value

The products were sold under several brand names, including Walmart's Great Value

The potentially harmful sweets are covered in a sugary coating that appears white, and come in a variety of packaging, such as bags, pouches, and tubs.

The affected sweets were sold under brand names including Palmer Candy, Great Value, Casey's, and Every True Tiger - a brand out of the University of Missouri.

Palmer Candy was notified of the potential danger by its liquid coating supplier, who said the products could potentially be contaminated with salmonella.

Salmonella is caused by eating foods contaminated with animal feces. It typically causes diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps that begin six hours to six days after initial infection, according to the CDC.

Most people recover within days, though the illness is responsible for more than 26,000 hospitalizations and 400 deaths a year.

Production has been suspended while the FDA and Palmer Candy investigate.

Consumers who have purchased any white coated confectionary items manufactured by Palmer Candy Company are encouraged to return the items to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Claire's Observations:  WHY the hell does this keep happening, and why were the company and the FDA not able to prevent this?!?!?

A lawyer who was involved in the negotiations for agreements between former President Donald Trump and two women pushed back on prosecutors’ claims that it was a “hush-money” payment during a court appearance on May 2.

Keith Davidson, who negotiated agreements related to adult performer Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, and model Karen McDougal, disputed Manhattan prosecutor Joshua Steinglass’s language.

“It wasn’t a ‘payout’ and it wasn’t ‘hush money.’ It was consideration in a civil settlement,” Mr. Davidson, who was called in as a witness, said on May 2.

“Would you use the phrase hush money to describe the money that was paid to your client by Donald Trump?” Mr. Steinglass asked.

“I would never use that word,” Mr. Davidson said.

When I told some of my colleagues and experts on Türkiye that I was going to Istanbul to visit the chairman of Türkiye’s Patriotic Party (Vatan Partisi), Dogu Perincek, the reactions were mixed. They ranged from complete indifference and irritation to great admiration. Skeptics said that both the party and its leader are “lame ducks” and have no future. However, Perincek himself disagrees with this opinion.

“Just wait a few years and we’ll make it into the parliament, you’ll see,” says the 81-year-old politician. Perincek believes that with each year, the Turkish people are moving further away from Western values and the politicians that represent them. This is largely due to the position of the US, which regularly demonstrates unfriendly and even aggressive behavior in the region, and in regard to Türkiye as well.

“Ordinary people see it, and our armed forces see it,” Perincek says. “Türkiye is America’s main target,” he says as he shows me a map of the country on which US military bases all around Türkiye are marked with US flags. A similar map of Iran was recently shared on the internet.

The Israeli army has entered the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, as West Jerusalem announced strikes against Hamas militants in the area.

In a statement on Tuesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was conducting “a precise counterterrorism operation in the eastern Rafah area” in a bid “to eliminate Hamas terrorists.”

A video released by the IDF shows at least four Israeli tanks on the Gazan side of the Rafah Crossing on the border with Egypt. Part of the clip was apparently filmed by a soldier sitting on top of one of the vehicles.

Webmaster addition: Video shot from the Egyptian side of the border shows this is not a "precise" battle, but indiscriminate carnage.
