"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system that has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

"Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, and no secret is revealed." -- John F Kennedy, Speech April 27, 1961

A recurring defect in US foreign policy is a refusal by elites to concede when they made a serious policy mistake.  This is not a new problem, but it has grown decidedly worse in the past few decades.  It characterized the intervention in Vietnam years after it should have become evident that Washington’s approach was failing.

Even one of the few worthwhile lessons from the bruising Vietnam experience proved only to be temporary; The U.S. should not get involved in murky civil wars.  A generation later, the United States had embarked on forceable nation building missions in both the Balkans and the Middle East.  The subsequent interventions in Libya and Syria were even less defensible because Washington already had the Iraq fiasco as fresh evidence that the Vietnam failure was not unique.

One might have thought that the Vietnam experience would have inoculated US policymakers against a repetition in other parts of the world, however, even that benefit appeared to be temporary.  Not even the sacrifice of 58,000 American lives and approximately 1,000,000 Vietnamese lives caused US leaders to reconsider a policy of global interventionism.  Indeed, two decades later the United States was mired in another full-fledged civil war, this time in the Balkans.  Another decade later, US leaders once again attempted to forcibly execute a strategy that created a client both democratic and compliant in Iraq.  Such conduct strongly indicated that US officials might be incapable of learning appropriate foreign policy lessons.  The latest adventure of the U.S. and its NATO allies in Ukraine appears to be less rewarding and even more dangerous than the previous examples.

The White House is closing in on a decision to send missiles to Ukraine with a range of nearly 200 miles. The Biden administration is discussing the potential weapons shipment but lacks funding to finance the transfer. President Biden is pressing House Republicans to approve a massive war spending bill that includes $61 billion for Ukraine.

The US has provided Ukraine with short and medium-range missiles for its HIMARS missile launchers. Biden is now close to deciding to provide Kiev with the long-range Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) that can hit targets at 190 miles.

The potential change in White House policy comes after Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. “I just came here from a meeting with Secretary Blinken,” Kuleba told a small group of reporters in Munich on Saturday. “I spent a very good part of the time arguing in favor of ATACMS.”

The US official who spoke with NBC News about the White House discussions explained that ATACMS “would allow Ukraine to strike farther inside the Russian-held Crimean Peninsula.” Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014, and often responds to attacks on the Peninsula with massive attacks on Ukrainian cities

Claire's Observations: This is way too little, and way too "late in the game" for this to have any major influence on the outcome of this dirty and deadly war between Russia and Ukraine.  The US is apparently incapable of talking any sense into Zelinsky whatsoever, regarding suing for peace, and getting the most favorable deal possible for Ukraine under the circumstances.   This... is going to have diplomatic, and economic negative repercussions world-wide.

Zelinsky has proven the "Gold Standard" for military failure, and all the US intel/weapons/infrastructure provided, has not been able to fix this.  One wonders why this guy hasn't been "taken out and replaced" by one of the willing, and highly capable "Alphabet Soup" US agencies, as they so frequently do, even in this 21st century?!?

One has to wonder; what dirt does he have on Americans at the highest level of government, which has prevented this from happening so far?!?  Whatever it is, it has to be damning and horrific in the extreme.

Interest on the U.S. national debt is set to exceed the entire defense budget of $822 billion for fiscal year 2024 as Republican leaders in the House of Representatives weigh spending $95 billion on foreign aid.

Congressional Budget Office Director Phillip Swagel warned that the growing $34 trillion national debt’s interest payments will cost more than the entire defense budget this fiscal year. "We have more debt and we have higher interest rates," he said on Fox Business Network on Tuesday. "It makes us more vulnerable as well with more debt if interest rates go yet higher, it's like a turbocharger with our interest payments going up."

According to a recent Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget analysis, interest will exceed defense spending and Medicare payments in fiscal year 2024.

Webmaster addition:  The last official act of any government is to loot the nation. This "foreign aid" might be the mechanism by which this is being done without the public realizing what's happening!

Rep. Debbie Dingell developed a severe nerve condition from a mandatory swine flu vaccine, which initially made her "scared to death" to get a COVID-19 vaccine, she told a congressional hearing last week

The Michigan Democrat might want to reconsider her now-unquestioning enthusiasm for COVID vaccines, including those made through traditional methods, in light of a massive international study of "adverse events of special interest" funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and set to be published in the peer-reviewed Elsevier journal Vaccine.

Members of the research team, which stretched from the Americas to Europe, China and Australia, said they identified "potential safety signal[s] of concern" following mRNA and adenovirus-vector vaccination when the "observed versus expected" ratio of a given AESI rose above 1 at the lower boundary of the 95% confidence interval and reached statistical significance.

Moviegoers have abandoned liberal director Rob Reiner after his latest film questioning the Christianity of Trump voters flopped big time at the box office.

Opening weekend numbers put “God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism” in unenviable territory, posting just over $38,000 grossed national across 85 theaters, or $451 per location over four days, according to Breitbart. The film’s themes, which heavily criticize the “Christian nationalism” that Reiner purports go against the teachings of Jesus Christ, were embraced by liberal movie critics who gave the film a 91% favorable rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has ordered the state’s National Guard troops to be deployed to the southern border, aiding Texas in managing unprecedented levels of illegal immigration.

Ms. Noem, a Republican, announced that 60 South Dakota National Guard soldiers will be sent to the U.S.-Mexico border later this spring. The deployment will occur gradually over a span of three months.

“The border in a warzone, so we’re sending soldiers,” Ms. Noem said in a statement.

Two and a half years ago, South Dakota became the first state to send National Guard troops in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s request for assistance in securing the border.

Ms. Noem stated that the National Guard troops would aid in the construction of a border wall.

The Chinese Coast Guard is stepping up patrols near the Taiwanese-controlled Kinmen Islands following an incident involving Taiwan’s Coast Guard that ended with two Chinese fishermen drowning.

The Kinmen Islands are controlled by Taiwan but are located just off the coast of mainland China, only about 3 miles away from the Chinese city of Xiamen.

Last week, Taiwan’s Coast Guard said a Chinese fishing boat entered prohibited waters off Kinmen, known as Quemoy in the mainland. The Taiwanese Coast Guard claimed the fishermen refused a request for an inspection, and their boat capsized as they tried to flee the area.

A total of four people were on the boat, and two were pronounced dead. After the incident, the Chinese Coast Guard said it would start regular patrols in the area to “maintain operational order in sea areas and safeguard fishermen’s lives and property.”

Claire's Observations:  It has recently been reported that US "Military Advisors"  have been deployed to Kimnen  As stated on 7 April, 2024, Dave De Camp, Antiwar.com: "US military advisors have been deployed to Kinmen, a group of small islands that are controlled by Taiwan but located just off the coast of mainland China, Taiwan’s TVBS has reported.

When asked to confirm the highly provocative deployment to Kinmen, the Pentagon said it could not comment. “We don’t have a comment on specific operations, engagements, or training” with Taiwan, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Marty Meiners told Antiwar.com in an email.

“But I would highlight that our support for, and defense relationship with, Taiwan remains aligned against the current threat posed by the People’s Republic of China. Our commitment to Taiwan is rock-solid,” Meiners said."

I would sincerely hope that the death of the two Chinese fishermen, was not the result of "US Military Advice" Letting people off with a "stern warning", is absolutely preferable to them getting killed as a result of being chased by the Taiwanese military.

Conservatives in the Senate are urging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to oppose Democrats’ plans to ignore the upper chamber’s constitutional duty to host an impeachment trial for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

More than a dozen conservative senators penned a letter to McConnell on Tuesday telling him to take up the House’s mantle of impeaching Mayorkas for his aiding and abetting the invasion at the U.S. southern border.

“It is imperative that the Senate Republican conference prepare to fully engage our Constitutional duty and hold a trial,” the Republicans wrote.

One “benefit” of the Covid-19 lockdowns was the public’s exposure to what is, or isn’t, going on in our schools. In just a few short years, the public has seen the outsize and pernicious influence of public-sector unions — nowhere more dramatically than in our schools.

The damage is nearly incalculable, and the money unions have to spend on such injury is enormous.

Unions take dollars in “dues money” from hard-working teachers and use it to finance a slew of politically driven efforts that have nothing to do with educating the nation’s children — many that actually harm them. Hard-left activist “teachers” are empowered to indoctrinate children in communist-style propaganda, while good teachers presenting a solid education are subverted.

And it shows: Large numbers of America’s children now loathe American values, and test results for reading and math reveal about half the nation’s kids fail to perform at grade level.

Despite the White House’s attempted spin, it’s obvious to anyone with eyes and ears that Biden’s mental faculties are rapidly waning. Recent polling has shown the vast majority of Americans (76 percent) have “major or moderate concerns” about the president’s overall physical and mental fitness.

While corporate media will never admit it, Biden can barely answer basic questions, let alone complete a sentence. So, to bring a little humor to your day, The Federalist has compiled a list of 30 questions likely to stump America’s befuddled commander-in-chief.

Two critical U.S. Capitol Police security cameras aimed at the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) offices during the January 6, 2021, pipe bomb incident were remotely redirected by police, failing to capture crucial segments of the police response, according to information obtained by the Epoch Times.

A detailed examination of the unreleased security footage reveals that Capitol Police Camera 3173, positioned directly across from the DNC bomb site, was remotely shifted away from the scene at 1:29 p.m. on the fateful day, just before the bomb squad intervened. (Related: New evidence strongly indicates that pipe bombs found on Jan. 6 were PLANTED by the FBI.)

Similarly, Camera 8020, located atop the nearby Fairchild Building, was zoomed in on the bomb squad assembling until 1:44 p.m., when the Capitol Police Command Center redirected its focus as a bomb robot approached the DNC.

Sources familiar with the U.S. Capitol Police camera system consider such redirection during an active event as "really odd."

In a video he shared Monday on X, Trucker Jake sarcastically noted how “overnight, liberals all have become experts on the trucking industry. They all know logistics forward and backwards.”

According to these new trucking experts, Jake said, “we’re all gonna lose our jobs, we’re all going to be replaced by AI.”

As it turns out, however, these experts might want to check their sources, because, as Jake explained, “we have a deficit in this country of 85,000 truck drivers.”

Moreover, he said, while truckers “could use the help” from AI, “it’s not gonna happen in my lifetime, it’s not gonna happen in your lifetime, it’s not gonna happen in your grandkids’ lifetime.”

Well then, his liberal interlocutor might retort, what about illegal immigrants? They’re desperate for jobs and would gladly take the place of you ungrateful MAGA extremists.

Unfortunately for Jake’s opponents, that’s not going to work so well either.

“Really, the illegals?” he said. “They can’t pass a background check, can’t pass a drug screening, and then you got the language barrier.”

The Israeli Knesset has overwhelmingly backed a resolution put forward by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that rejects a “unilateral” creation of a Palestinian state.

Ninety-nine lawmakers out of 120 in the Knesset voted in favor of the resolution. According to Ynet, Israel’s Labor Party boycotted the vote, and 11 Arab lawmakers voted against it. The majority of the leading opposition parties, National Unity and Yesh Atid, voted in favor.

Netanyahu celebrated the strong support for his legislation. “I commend the Knesset members, including those from the opposition, who today voted overwhelmingly in favor of my proposal that Israel opposes being unilaterally dictated to establish a Palestinian state,” he said.

“I don’t recall many votes, in fact, hardly any, where the Knesset voted with a majority of 99, nearly 100 members out of 120, on any proposal,” Netanyahu added.

The resolution came in response to reports that say the US is working with some of its Arab partners on an outline for a future peace deal that would include a “firm timeline” toward a Palestinian state.

The Knesset vote happened after the Israeli cabinet unanimously approved a similar declaration that rejected “international diktats” on a Palestinian state.

Claire's Observations:  Ironically, it may well be the establishment of a functioning Palestinian State, which might well insure the future existence of the state of Israel.  Former enemies in the region, could  become economic allies, and relationships could flourish.  The need for massive armaments in the region, might well decrease.

Had the State of Palestine been a confirmed reality at the time the Balfour Declaration came down, and was approved, this mess would never have happened.

It is tragic that in the 21st century two peoples are competing for Middle Eastern "real estate", that each considers as their  "Homeland".

But what if Israel, even with massive US aid, is unable to accomplish their goals militarily?!? What if countries currently not directly involved in this military clash currently between Israel/Hamas/Hezbollah, get involved, and Israel is forced to retreat to its 1967 boundaries, if it is allowed to continue to exist?!?  Were I an Israeli or US military planner, these are some of the questions which would keep me up at night.

Kiev's troops failed to "stabilize the battlefield" in Avdeyevka due to scanty firepower, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter told Sputnik.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin earlier this week that an operation to take control of Avdeyevka was carried out with minimal losses. According to Shoigu, an area of 31.75 square kilometers has been freed as a result of the capture of the town from Ukrainian nationalists.

Speaking to Sputnik, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Ukraine lost the battle of Avdeyevka for several reasons, the most dominant of which is that they simply don't have the firepower necessary to stabilize the battlefield.

The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have not distracted Washington from flexing its military muscles in the Asia-Pacific. Through one drill after another, the US is coercing regional countries into taking its side, further intensifying regional conflicts and transforming the Asia-Pacific into a more dangerous place.

From Wednesday to Thursday, US, Australian and Japanese warships conducted a trilateral joint operation in the South China Sea to "promote transparency, rule of law, freedom of navigation and all principles that underscore security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific." On Monday, as a part of the ongoing Cope North 2024 multinational air exercise, more than 80 military aircraft and some 3,000 troops from the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada and France participated in an elephant walk, a close formation of aircraft taxiing en masse before takeoff, in Guam to flaunt the synergy of the six countries' air forces in the air.

O’Keefe Media Group has infiltrated the IRS!

According to Alex Mena, an IRS official with the criminal investigations unit in New York, who met with O’Keefe Media Group’s undercover journalist, the IRS uses artificial intelligence technology to spy on American citizens and company bank accounts without a warrant or evidence to uncover what they consider fraud.

According to the source, the IRS is “going after the small people” and “destroying people’s lives.” All of the agents are “like robots,” said Mena.

New analysis finds that the number of illegal immigrants who have entered the U.S. on Biden’s watch is greater than the population of 36 states.

The numbers are absolutely staggering and there are still months left before Joe Biden will potentially leave office. If he doesn’t, and this madness continues, it’s nearly impossible to imagine what the country would look like in four more years.

Illegal immigration has now eclipsed the economy as the top issue for the 2024 election and this is why. Everyone knows this is not a sustainable situation.

A cynical person might see this as nothing more than a cash-strapped city going after what it sees as a deep pocketed target in order to get large sums of money it needs in order to keep the city afloat.

Chicago’s financial problems were well known long before the city became a destination for illegal border crossers.

An influential think tank close to Donald Trump is developing plans to infuse Christian nationalist ideas in his administration should the former president return to power, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.

Spearheading the effort is Russell Vought, who served as Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget during his first term and has remained close to him. Vought, who is frequently cited as a potential chief of staff in a second Trump White House, is president of The Center for Renewing America think tank, a leading group in a conservative consortium preparing for a second Trump term.

Christian nationalists in America believe that the country was founded as a Christian nation and that Christian values should be prioritized throughout government and public life. As the country has become less religious and more diverse, Vought has embraced the idea that Christians are under assault and has spoken of policies he might pursue in response.

Webmaster addition:  This is pure fear-mongering against Trump. Every religion wants their values to dominate society, whether Christian, Jew, Muslim, whatever.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an institution of religion." -- The First Amendment

With the memory of the Catholic v Protestant conflict in England relatively fresh in their minds, the authors of the Constitution sought to make all religions equal by refusing to allow any religion access to civil authority. In other words, the Constitution forbids the establishment of a state religion.

"Religious institutions that use government power in support of themselves and force their views on persons of other faiths, or of no faith, undermine all our civil rights. Moreover, state support of an established religion tends to make the clergy unresponsive to their own people, and leads to corruption within religion itself. Erecting the 'wall of separation between church and state,' therefore, is absolutely essential in a free society." -- Thomas Jefferson

The fantastic fall of Fani Willis is one of the great comedies of recent American politics. It’s the flagrant corruption of Hunter Biden, mixed with the stupidity of Jussie Smollett, the courtroom farce of the George Zimmerman trial, and the sky-high political stakes of a U.S. presidential election. It’s the joyous, healthy humor of seeing a wicked, ridiculous person be exposed and get exactly what she deserves.

Right now, it still isn’t certain whether Judge Scott McAfee will actually kick Fani Willis off her own case, but even if he doesn’t, the damage has substantially been done. The tenuous prosecution of President Trump in Georgia has already been badly delayed and discredited, increasing its odds of being tossed by a higher court and the odds of the public simply shrugging its shoulders even if this abortion of a case somehow lurches all the way to a felony conviction. Left-wing anti-Trump zealots are practically begging Fani to step aside of her own volition for the good of the anti-Trump cause.

But they are unlikely to get what they want, for the same reason that this scandal happened in the first place: America’s regime elevated a clown-show affirmative-action incompetent who only cares about herself, told her that she was a big hero simply for existing, and now we are all reaping the consequences.

But don’t laugh too hard at the left’s Fani Fiasco. Because lurking beneath the Fulton County farce is a dark look at an institutional decay in American life that has only just begun.
