Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki labeled as “scandalous” comments by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that the EU has “the tools” to deal with a member state if things “go in a difficult direction.”

At a conference at Princeton University on Thursday, von der Leyen was asked about the candidates in Sunday’s legislative elections in Italy, but she included Poland and Hungary in her response.

“If things go in a difficult direction — and I’ve spoken about Hungary and Poland — we have the tools,” von der Leyen said, in a clear reference to the Commission’s ability to cut funds allocated to EU governments when they are deemed to be violating the rule of law.

“Von der Leyen’s statement was scandalous,” Morawiecki said in the Polish town of Świdnik on Saturday, the state-run news agency PAP reported. “She said Brussels had the tools to discipline Italy if it created a government that would not be in favor of Brussels,” he was quoted as saying.

Reduced energy supply due to the sanctions against Russia and Moscow shutting down key pipeline gas export routes will leave Europe scrambling for oil and gas well after the coming winter as the current crisis is not “a one winter story,” according to analysts at consultant Energy Aspects.

“This is not a one winter story, let’s just make it very, very clear,” Amrita Sen, founder and director of research at Energy Aspects, told Bloomberg television in an interview on Friday.

Europe will need to ration demand in order to be able to balance the market,  not only this winter but also the next winter and potentially the one after that, she noted.

The energy crisis is already pushing Germany – Europe’s biggest economy – into a recession, which will deepen as we head into the winter months amid the ongoing natural gas and energy crisis, Bundesbank, the central bank of Germany, said in its monthly report earlier this week. Germany also moved this week to nationalize its biggest gas importer, Uniper, to prevent a collapse of the German energy and gas suppliers. Across Europe, industries are forced to curb or shut down production due to soaring energy prices, and several European industry associations say the European Commission’s proposals to reduce energy prices and help households and businesses through the crisis are not enough to help them survive the winter.

Europe's unelected authoritarian ruler, Ursula von der Leyen, is not going to be happy: according to early exit polls out of Italy's national election, the right-wing bloc of Giorgia Meloni - which the ultra-left wing press just can't stop comparing to Mussolini - is set for a historic, if largely expected, victory and a clear majority (if, however, not a super-majority) which will propel Meloni to the top of the Italian government as the country's next prime minister, ushering in a historic right-wing shift for a country that - like Sweden until two weeks ago - has traditionally been very left-wing.

Meloni's Brothers of Italy party, which won just 4% of the vote during the last national election in 2018, won the biggest share of the vote in Sunday’s parliamentary elections with around 22.5%-26.5% of the vote according to an exit poll released by Italian national broadcaster Rai. She is now set to become prime minister but would require approval from junior partners in her coalition to assume the role.

Banking and financial firms in London are closely studying and updating contingency electricity supply plans to protect themselves and their customers in case power outages hit the UK this winter.

Some banks are discussing the idea of again encouraging the work-from-home policies from previous Covid lockdowns or using offsite locations, representatives of the trade association UK Finance, coordinating the talks, told Bloomberg.

The UK and the rest of Europe are preparing for potential blackouts this winter, especially if the weather is colder than usual and gas and power shortages strain the grids. Governments in Europe are asking people to conserve energy to avoid rolling outages.

In the City of London, banks are paying closer attention to plans for backup power supply in case of blackouts.

“There is no sense of panic, just everyone is making sure that their ducks are in a row,” Andrew Rogan, director of operational resilience at UK Finance, told Bloomberg in an interview.

At the end of August, we exclusively revealed that official mortality figures for Europe showed a shocking 691% increase in excess deaths among children up to week 33 of 2022 since the European Medicines Agency extended the emergency use authorisation of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine for use in children aged 12 to 15 in May 2021.

Our investigation has since forced the European Union’s official statistics department to begin a Europe-wide investigation into why there has been a significant increase in excess deaths among children aged 0 to 14.

However, upon announcing the investigation, EuroMOMO, the organisation that published the figures, altered the baseline by which excess deaths are measured against. This questionable act resulted in the number of excess deaths being artificially reduced.

So we have revisited the data, and despite EuroMOMO’s best efforts to reduce the severity of the situation we uncovered, we can exclusivly reveal that the altered figures show there has been a shocking 755% increase in excess deaths among children aged 0 to 14 in 2022 so far, and a 630% increase overall since the EMA first approved the Covid-19 vaccine for children.

Vegetable producers across northern and western Europe are considering halting operations, thus further threatening food supplies, as a result of the energy crisis hitting the continent, Reuters reported this week.

According to the report, skyrocketing power and gas prices are the biggest cost facing vegetable farmers employing greenhouse cultivation. Two French farmers renewing their electricity contracts for 2023 told the media outlet they were being quoted prices more than ten times higher than in 2021.

“In the coming weeks I will plan the season but I don’t know what to do,” said Benjamin Simonot-De Vos, who grows cucumbers, tomatoes and strawberries south of Paris. “If it stays like this there’s no point starting another year. It’s not sustainable.”

Johannes Gross, deputy sales manager at the German cooperative Reichenau-Gemüse, told Reuters : “We face an overall increased production cost of around 30%. Some colleagues are thinking about leaving their greenhouses empty to keep the costs as low as possible. Nobody knows what will happen next year.”

Russian Forces Foil Yet Another Ukrainian Drone Attack On Zaporozhye NPP

Zaporozhie NPP

The Russian military has foiled yet another Ukrainian drone attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP), official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, announced on September 25.

Lt. Gen. Konashenkov said that Kiev forces attempt to target the plant with eight suicide drones. However, all of them were shot down.

“Attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike at the territory of the [Zaporozhye] NPP with eight suicide drones were prevented. All Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down outside the territory of the nuclear plant,” the officer said.

The Russian MoD representative went on to assure that the current levels of radiation at the Zaporozhye NPP are still normal.

The plant was captured by the Russian military in March, just days after the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine. Kiev forces were using the plant as a military position. Loads of weapons and ammunition were stored there.

Our present era is one of social and political decline.

Only those who have been living under a rock don’t recognize this.

You’ll always have that naive friend or acquaintance who will say that tyranny and civilizational decline can’t happen in America.

They’ll claim that America is exceptional and it’s uniquely resistant to the worst of the political elements.

We at the Rebel Capitalist Team call BS on this.

As avid students of history, we understand that all societies — no matter how great or wretched they are — can succumb to civilizational decline.

The United States is no different.

What we’re witnessing in the so-called “Land of the Free” is rather unique.

The present ruling class has gotten quite creative with the way it imposes tyranny.

You see, compared to other countries, the US still has strong free speech protections that limit the government’s ability to infringe on people’s ability to express themselves.

However, the powers that be have gotten slick.

The unity of EU member states could be in jeopardy as a dark winter fast approaches set to trigger a 'continental scramble' for energy resources. European countries would be in a "wild west scenario" in their attempt to pursue energy security which would result in souring relations with neighbors and cause worsening fuel and power shortages with risks of social unrest, warned Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, who was quoted by the Financial Times

Birol spoke Thursday in an interview at the inaugural Global Clean Energy Action Forum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when he explained the energy crisis threatens to shatter EU unity as countries could restrict or stop trading energy resources with neighbors to ensure their own energy security.

"The implications will be very bad for energy, very bad for the economy, but extremely bad politically ... if Europe fails this test in energy, it can go beyond energy implications," Birol said

I have somehow not heard of this case, but there's an ongoing case in Sweden where a 80-ish year old man, Bertil Malmberg, talked about the intelligence of nations, specifically mentioning that South Sudan's recorded mean intelligence is one of the lowest in the world (Mankind Quarterly has no less than 15 recent studies from Sudan). In his words (Google translated from Swedish):

It is relevant that the population there is among the peoples with the lowest intelligence in the entire world, which is well documented in research. According to the UN, the country has a very low HDI (Human Development Index), low level of education and widespread illiteracy.

The context is that he was summarizing recent immigration issues in Sweden. As pattern recognizers know, integration of Africans is going just about as well in Sweden as everywhere everywhere else, maybe slightly weller. As has been demonstrated by a very detailed Dutch report, this has a lot to do with low intelligence among immigrants.

So far, he has been found guilty of an "incitement against ethnic group" ("hets mot folkgrupp") which is Sweden's hate speech law, i.e. law that protects groups left-wingers like against negative comments. The punishment is a suspended sentence (length unclear) and "40 daily fines of SEK 600". This comes out to 24,000 SEK, about 2,200 EUR, so it is not too bad insofar as government persecution goes. He has been found guilty in the district court, and now also the appeals court (Hovrätten). After this, he was even excluded by his own party in some lame PR operation (ostensibly for not wanting to shut up for a while). However, the case is seemingly to be heard at the Swedish supreme court (Högsta domstolen). Actually, it's the chief prosecutor who also wants to take it up there, so the verdict can be generalized and easily applied in many cases. Actually, they seem to think it will go to the final final appeal, namely the European court of human rights. Malmberg himself thinks he will prevail because the higher courts are more sensitive to free speech issues.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview broadcast on Sunday that Ukraine had received sophisticated air defence systems from the United States.

It was the first acknowledgment that Ukraine had received the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS), long sought by Kyiv and whose shipment was approved by Washington late last month.

"We absolutely need the United States to show leadership and give Ukraine the air defence systems. I want to thank President (Joe) Biden for a positive decision that has been already made," Zelenskiy said, according to an English-language transcript of the interview.

"But believe me, it's not even nearly enough to cover the civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals, universities, homes of Ukrainians."

PM Orbán predicts that lifting sanctions will lead to a significant drop in inflation and a halving of energy prices...

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz) has appealed to the European Union to lift sanctions against Russia by the end of the year at the latest in order to alleviate soaring inflation not just in Europe, but across the globe.

At a parliamentary group meeting in Balatonalmádi on Lake Balaton, Orbán warned that the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv is no longer a matter between the two countries and is escalating into a global economic war expected to last into next year.

Europe is plagued with an energy crisis, and the cold season is coming ahead of schedule.

The stability of the EU's natural gas reserves now depends on a mild winter. But new weather forecasts for next week indicate that "Arctic chill will blow across western Europe through next week will be the first test of how willing people are to delay switching on the heating in a bid to save energy and ease household budgets," according to Bloomberg

Forecaster Maxar WeatherDesk said temperatures in London would sink 5 degrees Celsius below average, falling as low as 6.5 degrees Celsius overnight on Sept. 27. In Frankfurt, Germany, temperatures will fall 3.5 degrees Celsius below normal levels on the 28th, while France and Spain will see temperatures 3-4 degrees lower than the seasonal norm.

"It will turn even colder early next week as a plunge of Arctic air surges southwards, and a strong northerly wind will accentuate the chilly feel," according to the UK's Met Office.

Germany, France, and Spain have approved energy conservation measures to decrease demand for NatGas, while the EU as a whole has reached the 80% target (now 86.9%) of filling storage tanks by Oct. 1.

According to Aurora Energy Research, full NatGas storage could sustain EU countries for at least three months this winter. In Germany, the bloc's largest economy and home to a quarter of EU storage, there are about 80-90 days of fuel in storage.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that regions of Ukraine where referendums are being held will be under the Kremlin’s “full protection” if they are annexed by Russia, raising the prospect of the use of nuclear weapons.

Residents of four Russian-occupied areas in eastern and southern Ukraine continued voting for four days on whether to join Russia.

“Following those referendums, Russia of course will respect the expression of the will of those people who for many long years have been suffering from the abuses of the neo-Nazi regime,” Lavrov told reporters this weekend after addressing the United Nations General Assembly. He was referring to the Kyiv government.

When asked by a reporter if Russia would possibly use nuclear weapons to defend any annexed regions in Ukraine, Lavrov said that any Russian territory will be “under the full protection of the state.”

“All of the laws, doctrines, concepts, and strategies of the Russian Federation apply to all of its territory,” he said while referring to Russia’s doctrine on using nukes.

As readers know, I am convinced that Putin’s toleration of insults and provocations has had the effect of encouraging more and worse provocations and not, as he intended, to downplay conflict.  As you also know, I am convinced that his “limited military operation” in Donbass designed to protect the Donbass Russians, formerly a part of Russia, from horrible abuse by Ukrainian forces and the neo-Nazi militias, was a mistake.  It is a mistake because the West characterized a limited operation as an “invasion of Ukraine,” and used its slow progress as evidence of Russian failure.  It is a mistake because the go-slow nature of the Russian offensive in order to minimize the impact on civilian lives and infrastructure gave the West plenty of time to convince itself to get more and more involved with diplomatic support, money, armaments and ammunition, training, and now with satellite  information for targeting the Russian forces.

As I see it, Putin has been behaving as British Prime Minister Chamberlain is alleged to have behaved, thus encouraging more aggressive actions.  Wanting peace at all costs brings war.

We have previously discussed dubious constitutional and historical claims by President Joe Biden on gun bans. However, on Friday, he returned to a curious claim that he has made repeatedly: that “the bullet out of an AR-15 travels five times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun.” Conservative and gun rights publications have repeatedly shot down that claim but it does not seem to have any impact.

As with Biden’s false claim that certain weapons were banned from private ownership at the ratification of the Second Amendment, the President continues to make the same false claim on velocity speed.

An FBI whistleblower recently came forward and issued warnings about alleged politicization at the FBI, saying that the bureau is spying on law-abiding Americans and that many of its domestic counterterrorism cases are tantamount to “entrapment.”

Kyle Seraphin, who has spent six years in the FBI, was suspended without pay and cannot seek another job without quitting or asking for permission. It’s not clear when he was suspended, but he said that he had run-ins with his managers about his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine although he was granted a religious exemption.

“The number of guys who say, ‘I don’t agree with what’s going on here, but I’ve got three years to retire,’ it’s heartbreaking,” he told podcast host Dan Bongino.

Silver has the Republicans a slight favorite (68-32) favorite to win the House. That margin seems more than "slight" but use your own definition.

The digital dollar is the endgame. No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall on, this will be the permanent and inescapable enslavement the ruling classes of the globe desperately need in order to remain in power.

You will own nothing, while a handful of people will own everything. You will exist if they allow it, be stolen from if they don’t like what you said, and be ruled over in a dystopia that makes our current situation pale in comparison.

Collapse Incoming? Pope Francis Orders Holy See to Transfer ALL Assets to Vatican Bank

A “white paper” published on the White House website calls for the creation of a “digital dollar” that, of course, will be controlled by the ruling class.  Much like the Federal Reserve currently has the sole role and responsibility to develop and print fiat currency with which they already control the population to some extent. But the difference here is that if all money was digital, the government and central banks will be one and the same. They could (and would) monitor our bank accounts; monitor all of our transactions; impose barriers to purchases of certain “unfavored” items, and even block access to our money or limit how much of it we could spend.

They will take what they want, and cut off your ability to spend for as long as they want.
