Near a peak of the Zagros Mountains in central Iran, workers are building a nuclear facility so deep in the earth that it is likely beyond the range of a last-ditch US weapon designed to destroy such sites, according to experts and satellite imagery analyzed by The Associated Press.

The photos and videos from Planet Labs PBC show Iran has been digging tunnels in the mountain near the Natanz nuclear site, which has come under repeated sabotage attacks amid Tehran’s standoff with the West over its atomic program.

The FBI has again refused to hand over an internal document that Republicans claim shows President Joe Biden was involved in a 'criminal' scheme with a foreign national.

World War 3 is heating up. A heavily armed band of Ukrainian commandoes crossed over the border today and entered Russia’s Belgorod region. Fighting erupted in several Russian towns. The region’s governor said Russian military forces were searching for the terrorists. Ukraine denied responsibility for the armed incursion and said the attacks were carried out by Russian para-military groups.

Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told CNN that President Joe Biden now approves Ukraine striking Crimea. We’re going to start with a report from the London Times about today’s commando attack inside Russia.

Chicago is struggling to accommodate the influx of migrants bussed from the southern border, with some forced to sleep at police stations due to a lack of housing.

According to reports, at least 8,500 migrants from Latin America have been bussed to the Windy City since August 2020. The situation has become so dire that former Mayor Lori Lightfoot declared a state of emergency on May 9. Her successor, Brandon Johnson, has pledged to find a solution to the crisis.

"We don’t want our story to be told that we were unable to house the unhoused or provide a safe harbor for those who are seeking refuge here, because there’s enough room for everyone in the city of Chicago," he said. "Whether you are seeking asylum or you are looking for a fully funded neighborhood, we don’t want our story to say that we did not invest in all of the people and all of the communities that make our city great."

HP is working to address a bad firmware update that has been bricking HP Office Jet printers worldwide since it was released earlier this month. While HP has yet to issue a public statement regarding these ongoing problems affecting a subset of its customer base, the company told BleepingComputer that it's addressing the blue screen errors seen by a "limited number" of users.

Anheuser-Busch is offering to buy unsold cases of Bud Light back from retailers as sales continue to crater in the aftermath of a brief but disastrous partnership with trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The offer, reported by The Wall Street Journal, comes as boycotts continue to dog the brand in the wake of the controversial deal. Mulvaney raved in a TikTok video about a gift from Bud Light — a can featuring the trans-influencer’s face — and the partnership, which reportedly consisted of just the one can, sparked a boycott that caused sales of the beverage to plummet nearly overnight.

By mid-May, Bud Light sales were down 28% in comparison with 2022 sales numbers for the same time period — according to a Bump Williams analysis of Nielsen data — and several high-profile celebrities had thrown their weight behind a total boycott of the brand.

Law enforcement officials in Tennessee arrested 40-year-old Victor Rodriguez last week after he told them that he opened fire at a group of men who were allegedly trying to steal his car from outside his home.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office charged Rodriguez with one count of felony reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon after the incident last weekend. If convicted, he could face up to 6 years in prison.

On Monday, the White House offered support for a bill brought forth by two House Republicans that would increase penalties for fentanyl trafficking as well as recognize it as a Schedule 1 substance – the highest classification. 

The White House Office of Management and Budget issued a statement praising the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl, or HALT Fentanyl Act with an anticipated House floor vote coming Thursday. 

Reps. Morgan Grifith (R-VA.) and Bob Latta (R-Ohio) were the two Republicans who introduced the bill earlier this year. In a memo, the White House stated 52 cosigners are Republican as the bill aligns with President Biden’s public safety agenda. There has not been a Democrat that has co-sponsored the bill.

The California bill would require companies to disclose how much they contribute to climate change each year — including not only their direct emissions, which many companies now report annually, but also the largely hidden indirect emissions involved in the production and consumption of their goods. The proposal covers all large companies doing business in the state, and since California’s economy is on the brink of becoming the fourth-largest in the world, it would effectively become national policy.

The ultimate goal of a law passed in March repealing part of the 2005 Disengagement Law is to resettle four evacuated Jewish settlements in the northern West Banks, Otzma Yehudit MK and settlement activist Limor Son Har Melech said.

She made the comments in the wake of a new military order rescinding a ban on Israelis residing in the area of one of those former settlements, Homesh, announced by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is also a minister in the Defense Ministry, on Saturday night.

The Times of Israel has deleted a column calling for the obliteration of Palestine on the same day extremist nationalists marched through occupied East Jerusalem chanting "death to Arabs".

Mount Etna, one of Sicily's landmarks, has frequently become active in recent years. The 2010 eruption disrupted air traffic by sending a cloud of hazardous ash drifting across the Atlantic Ocean.

Flights to and from Catania airport on Sicily have been cancelled after erupting Mount Etna spewed ash across the Italian island.

Authorities announced on Sunday that the airport would be closed until 9 am on Monday morning due to the fall of soot on the runway. The re-opening time was later revised to 6 am.

A Christian teacher has been blacklisted from the profession for “misgendering” a pupil in a landmark case thought to be the first of its kind in Britain. Former maths teacher Joshua Sutcliffe was found by the Teaching Regulation Authority (TRA) to have failed to have treated a pupil with “dignity and respect”.

The 33-year-old was also found to have failed to protect the pupil’s wellbeing by not using the child’s preferred pronouns.

The teacher admitted that he had said “well done girls” to one of his classes, and therefore did not acknowledge that one of the children identified as a boy.

Mr Sutcliffe, who taught at The Cherwell School in Oxford, said this was unintentional and apologised immediately.

In the last decade, 37 traders and brokers have been prosecuted by the US Department of Justice and the UK's Serious Fraud Office for their roles in 'rigging' interest-rates during the Great Financial Crisis (GFC).

However, in extracts from Rigged, a book by Andy Verity on the Libor-rigging scandal (published in The Times), he explains how in 2008, it was central banks and government that pressed banks to bring down key interest rates, but none of this evidence was ever shown to jurors in nine criminal trials which resulted in multiple jail sentences for those involved (19 convicted, 9 jailed).

Backed up and supplemented by published data, The BBC reports that the suppressed evidence indicates that in October 2008, central banks intervened on a large scale in the setting of Libor and Euribor.

On May 21, Hezbollah held a public military exercise in southern Lebanon, just a few kilometers away from the front with Israel.

The exercise, which was attended by local and international media, was held at a camp near the Tourist Landmark of the Resistance in the town of Mleeta. On the night of May 22, new wave of Russian strikes targeted Ukrainian military facilities throughout the country. Explosions again thundered in several regions in southern, eastern and central Ukraine. Kiev is hiding the losses as always.

Last night, explosions thundered in the Kharkiv, Odessa, Zaporozhie, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk region. Russian forces used kamikaze UAVs, cruise and ballistic missiles.

The first Russian strikes hit targets in the Kharkiv region. According to preliminary reports, the headquarters of the Ukrainian Nazi battalion “Kraken” was destroyed. Several militants were killed. The total number of casualties is yet to be revealed.

The Russian aerospace forces attacked the targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kherson region. At least one guided bomb hit Ukrainian military base near the village of Kizomys.

On the morning of May 22, pro-Russian authorities in the Russian-controlled part of the Zaporozhie region confirmed that Russian aircraft hit Ukrainian warehouses with military equipment and ammunition in the Zaporozhie region. In particular, explosions were reported in the area of Orekhov.
