"In times of war, the law falls silent." -- Cicero
My mom used a pressure cooker that was the terror of the household. It bounced around all over the counter and, unless the heat was applied and the pressure released with incredible care, it was like having a bomb in the kitchen. When I look at what the Democrats are doing in America, I am reminded of that pressure cooker. Their latest scheme is to arrest Trump even as they announce that they are doubling down on persecuting the almost entirely peaceful J6 protesters who unwittingly trespassed in the Capitol. The first action builds pressure; the second denies Americans their constitutional safety valve. I fear that this cannot end well.
Let’s think about the chronology just to make sure we understand what’s going on:
It has now been nearly 13 years since WikiLeaks published the video, and nearly 16 years since the attack took place. No one responsible for the attack or the invasion of Iraq has faced even a modicum of accountability.
In contrast, Assange is languishing in Belmarsh Prison under torturous conditions. He sits in legal limbo while the United States continues to pursue his extradition under Espionage Act charges, in a case which poses an unprecedented threat to press freedom.
While WikiLeaks’ publication of military documents from Iraq and Afghanistan are at the heart of the case, the “Collateral Murder” video is absent from the 18-count indictment that spans 37 pages.
“The U.S. military usually didn’t investigate civilian casualties in Iraq. It did in this case because Namir and Saeed worked for a major international news organization,” Yates said as he started his speech.
“I was shown—without advance warning—less than three minutes of footage from the gun-camera of Crazy Horse 1-8, up to where it opened fire for the first time. I was told the gunship then attacked a minivan because it was believed to be helping wounded insurgents and picking up weapons. U.S. forces had acted in accordance with the rules of engagement for Iraq, I was told.”
Yates spent the next three years trying to convince the Pentagon to provide the full footage through the Freedom of Information Act, yet his effort was met with repeated refusals.
As former President Jimmy Carter nears death, an aging Texas politician has come forward to get something big off his chest -- claiming that, in 1980, he accompanied former Texas governor John Connally on a whirlwind Middle East tour aimed at keeping Americans hostage of Iran until after the presidential election that elevated Ronald Reagan to power.
“History needs to know that this happened,” 85-year-old Ben Barnes tells the New York Times. “I think it’s so significant and I guess knowing that the end is near for President Carter put it on my mind more and more and more. I just feel like we’ve got to get it down some way.” Barnes is a former Democratic speaker of the Texas House and lieutenant governor.
The claims that Reagan cronies worked to prolong the Iran hostage crisis and torpedo President Carter's reelection bid aren't new, but Barnes is by far the most prominent figure to step forward and claim to have been a witness to such a conspiracy.
In the wake of the 1979 Iranian revolution, college students sympathetic with the revolution overran the US embassy in Tehran and took 66 Americans hostage. The long crisis that ensured dominated the presidency of Carter, who ordered an April 1980 military rescue mission that itself turned into a disaster, killing eight service-members and an Iranian civilian.
The current banking crisis could not have come at a worse time for the Comex system. Inventories have seen massive depletion over the last 2+ years as investors have slowly been pulling physical out of the vaults. I have previously called this a run on the vault but labeled it as a stealthy one. As though certain investors did not want to raise the alarm, but slowly take possession while inventory was still available.
Now that confidence in the banking system has been put to the test, people will look to alternative means to store their wealth and get their money out of the financial system. The easiest and safest way to do this would be to own physical precious metals, as people have done for thousands of years.
It is likely that demand for physical metal could increase significantly in the months ahead. The futures market is already showing a massive move in the price of gold, which is knocking on the door of $2,000. It’s only a matter of time before this moves into the physical market. When it does, the Comex vault run will pick up steam.
The Belarus government is implementing widespread measures to crack down on dissent as pro-Ukraine guerrillas attempt to sabotage railways and other logistics that could be used by Russia for a future offensive from the north.
The move comes not long after the guerrillas, part of an organization called BYPOL, used two armed drones to damage a Russian Beriev A-50 parked at the Machulishchy Air Base near Minsk. The early warning aircraft was lent to Belarus for monitoring the security of their southern border. The attack failed to destroy the plane beyond minor repairs according the the Belarus government, but did garner BYPOL headlines in the western media.
What they did not report was that the primary perpetrator of the attack was apprehended along with 20 other accomplices. Belarus claims that at least one of the guerrillas has ties to Ukrainian security services, though this remains unconfirmed.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Senate Republicans are set to introduce on a bill on Thursday that would codify the right to bear arms for self-defense outside the home.
The bill would incorporate elements from the Supreme Court’s 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller decision and the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen decision from 2022, he said.
In Heller, the court affirmed an individual’s right to own a firearm. The Bruen decision affirmed the individual’s right to carry a gun for self-protection outside their home. Graham said the bill would enshrine those rights in federal law. It would also give citizens the right to sue any government agency or official who tried to infringe on that right.
“When you live in an autocratic environment, you don’t own; the government does,” Graham said during a March 16, 2023, press conference.
Michael Cohen, a former personal attorney for Donald Trump, said Sunday on MSNBC’s “Alex Witt Reports” that prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney’s office convening a grand jury as part of a criminal probe into a 2016 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels have asked him to come in Monday “as rebuttal witness.”
Cohen said, “This morning, I did receive a whole slew of phone calls from journalists, asking me if I’m going to be back to the DA’s office tomorrow as a rebuttal witness to whoever it is that they’re bringing there tomorrow. Whether it’s before the grand jury or it’s just to meet with them for an interview, I’m not sure, but yes, I was asked to make myself available and to be at the DA’s office tomorrow as a rebuttal witness.”
Witt asked, “Rebuttal to whom or for what? Has that been clarified?”
Cohen said, “No, I don’t know who the person is. Obviously, once they find out who the person is, all know what the issue is. I was personally involved. Again, I don’t know. It’s a little premature for me to be answering any question on a topic that I don’t know who the person is and whether or not that person is or is not going, to tell the truth.”
With former President Donald Trump insisting he’s going to be arrested as early as Tuesday, meetings have reportedly been held between city, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to prepare for mass protests or riots.
The talks come as far-right forums have overflowed with ideas on how to keep Trump out of the clink—with one person suggesting Trump supporters should create a “Patriot moat” around the former president’s estate at Mar-a-Lago in South Florida so law enforcement can’t enter.
Police in Palm Beach, Florida, did not respond to questions from The Daily Beast about the threats. But New York City Police Department sources told The Daily Beast that their officers will be closely monitoring social media as well as intelligence from federal authorities and other police departments to assess the size of any protests.
If a significant demonstration materializes in the next week, NYPD sources said the force may deploy the Strategic Response Group, a roughly 700-hundred-member unit trained in “disorder control.” The department, if necessary, could escalate that response by deploying a Level 4 alert—which would put eight cops and one sergeant on alert in every precinct.
Donald Trump is claiming full innocence and isn't buying the narrative from some Republicans defending him by saying the alleged hush-money payments he made to Stormy Daniels are a 'misdemeanor' at best.
The former president said on Sunday that there 'was no crime ' and flipped the script on the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, demanding the Democratic prosecutors be investigated for 'interfering' with the presidential election.
Prosecutors argue that he violated a New York law which prohibits falsifying business records when he marked a $130,000 payment to Daniels as 'legal expenses.'
CNN anchor Erin Burnett has admitted evidence that members of President Biden's family received over $1million from various accounts linked to son Hunter's Chinese business associates 'doesn't look good' for the First family.
During a recent episode of CNN's 'Erin Burnett OutFront,' the host touched on the subpoenaed financial records, which were obtained by the House Oversight Committee.
The records show that money from the president's troubled son was funneled to several members of the Biden clan including James Biden, and Beau Biden's widow Hallie Biden.
Donald Trump announced on Saturday morning that he would be arrested on Tuesday, and the nation has been agog at the prospect of the Leftist establishment crossing the rubicon of arresting its principal opponent on flimsy charges and demonstrating before the entire world that the American republic is now the American banana republic, in which foes of the regime can expect the full weight of corrupt government authority pushing back against them for daring to dissent.
But now it turns out that the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which has Trump in its sights, just may be stepping back from the brink: Business Insider reported Saturday night that Trump’s indictment is “on hold” until one more witness testifies Monday afternoon.
That’s about all that has come to light, as the relevant authorities are being quite closemouthed about this whole thing. Insider says that “a source with knowledge of the investigation” told them on Saturday night “there is one more witness.” The indictment is apparently not a certainty until this witness testifies.
The Biden administration will disguise agents as students to catch colleges and universities that are misleading students, according to the announcement, the Department of Education announced on Tuesday.
Credit Suisse and UBS have entered into a merger agreement on Sunday following the intervention of the Swiss Federal Department of Finance, the Swiss National Bank and the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA (FINMA). UBS will be the surviving entity upon closing of the merger transaction. Under the terms of the merger agreement all shareholders of Credit Suisse will receive 1 share in UBS for 22.48 shares in Credit Suisse. Until consummation of the merger, Credit Suisse will continue to conduct its business in the ordinary course and implement its restructuring measures in collaboration with UBS. The Swiss National Bank will grant Credit Suisse access to facilities that provide substantial additional liquidity. On March 19, 2023, Swiss Federal Department of Finance, the Swiss National Bank and FINMA have asked Credit Suisse and UBS to enter into the merger agreement. Pursuant to the emergency ordinance which is being issued by the Swiss Federal Council, the merger can be implemented without approval of the shareholders. The consummation of the merger remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Credit Suisse and UBS have entered into a merger agreement on Sunday with UBS being the surviving entity. After negotiations that took place during the weekend leading up to the signing of the merger agreement, UBS and Credit Suisse concluded that it would be in the best interest of their shareholders and their stakeholders to enter into the merger. This move comes after the Swiss Federal Department of Finance, the Swiss National Bank and FINMA asked both companies to conclude the transaction to restore necessary confidence in the stability of the Swiss economy and banking system.
Israeli protesters returned to the streets Thursday to rally against proposed judicial reforms, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a compromise plan touted by the country's president.
The reforms, several provisions of which have already been adopted by parliament, are "the end of democracy," read a placard brandished by demonstrators in Tel Aviv.
According to Israeli media, tens of thousands of Israelis protested across the country.
President Joe Biden contradicted Hunter Biden’s confession the family business received payments in 2017 out of China.
“That’s not true,” Joe Biden protested to reporters Friday when questioned about recent revelations the family’s bank accounts were enriched with funds from communist China.
Despite Joe Biden’s claims, Hunter admitted on Thursday the family business did accept China money in 2017. Hunter not only admitted the Biden family business received China money, but he also acknowledged he, along with James, Hailie, and unknown “Biden,” all received $1.3 million collectively.
“Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses,” Hunter’s spokesperson acknowledged.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) believes that there are 11 more deals between China and the Biden family, following a report from the House Oversight Committee that an associate of Hunter Biden linked to a Chinese company paid family members over $1 million.
Comer, chairman of the committee, said they are unsure what the 11 other deals involved but believe bank records will show President Joe Biden and his family members received "millions and millions of dollars from our adversaries."
"We're gonna follow the money. We knew there was a money trail, we've spoken to enough people that were involved in the shady business games all around the world," Comer said on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. "Everything that we've subpoenaed thus far was accurate from what our whistleblowers were telling us, and we have a whole lot more information. This was the first deal, and we have many more to come."
The first deal refers to a report released by House Oversight showing Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau Biden with whom Hunter Biden had a romantic relationship, received $35,000 from accounts tied to Hunter Biden's associate Rob Walker, including $25,000 that appears to have originated from a Chinese company. The report cited bank records from Walker that were subpoenaed by the committee earlier this year.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has weighed in on what many believe is the impending indictment of former President Donald trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg by shoving George Soros under the bus.
It came in response to a tweet by popular conservative Twitter commentator Catturd who said “Corrupt New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg received $1 million from Soros in his election for NYC DA.”
Musk responded by basically laying out the game that Soros plays to effect policy in the United States.
“Soros figured out a clever arbitrage opportunity: The many small political contests, such as DAs & judges, have much higher impact per dollar spent than the big races, so it is far easier to sway the outcome,” he said.
The House of Mouse has strayed far from the family-friendly image its founder Walt Disney assiduously created over many decades. Indeed, Disney is leading the international fight to impose the radical LGBT agenda on our children. For example, Disney fought hard in opposing a new Florida law that bans the teaching of LGBT ideology to children in kindergarten to grade three. It has produced animated movies like Strange World and Lightyear and television shows like Willow that have strong LGBT themes. It has partnered with radical LGBT organizations like the San Francisco Gay Men’s choir that has openly stated it is coming after our children. It prominently features LGBT-themed clothing and accessories at all its Disney stores.
And now the chickens are coming home to roost. Since Disney came out strongly for the LGBT agenda, its stock value has plummeted by 33%. Its streaming services are losing $1 billion a quarter. Strange World and Lightyear have lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Florida has rescinded the special taxing and governing statutes that gave Disney hundreds of millions of dollars more in benefits. And now we have learned that Disney has lost its top ten standing for internet searches for travel destinations. As The Street reports:
“The study by familydestinationsguide.com. looked at which tourist attractions get the most searches in each state. The results range from national parks, such as Glacier, Acadia and Grand Canyon, to beaches like Rehoboth and Myrtle, to regional favorites like Graceland. The Elvis Presley home and museum is tops with people in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. But, intriguingly, Walt Disney World in Florida didn’t even make the list at all. And Disneyland, in Anaheim was the most popular in only one state: California.”
Countless people across the globe celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s greatness on MLK Day. However, one clip shared on Twitter reminded people that during Dr. King’s last years, he had many denigrators, including some Black Americans.
One of his most vocal critics was Julia Clarice Brown – a Black woman who later proudly admitted to being an informant and agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Speaker of the House and Republican California Rep. Kevin McCarthy just dropped a bomb on the people who want to indict former President Donald Trump, including Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump. I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions,” he said on Saturday.
