Thought for the day

"The first panacea of a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permeant ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists." -- Ernest Hemingway

Senior officials at the Department of Homeland Security want President Joe Biden to follow the lead of several Republican governors in relocating migrants, NBC News reported.

Internal documents and communications reviewed by NBC News show growing discord between the White House and DHS officials regarding the southern border as the number of migrants entering the U.S. keeps rising.

DHS officials have presented options to the White House during a recent series of high-level meetings on immigration, NBC News reported Friday.

The choices offered included flying migrants to the country's northern border with Canada to alleviate overcrowding on the U.S.-Mexico border, according to NBC News sources.

Russian nuclear-powered submarines fired cruise missiles in the Arctic on Friday as part of military drills designed to test Moscow's readiness for a possible conflict in its icy northern waters, the defense ministry said.

The drills, named Umka-2022, took place in the Chukchi Sea, an eastern stretch of the Arctic Ocean that separates Russia from the U.S. state of Alaska.

Russia sees its vast Arctic territory as a vital strategic interest and has been building up its military capabilities in the region for years, raising alarm bells in the West.

Russia's defense ministry said on Friday two nuclear-powered submarines – the Omsk and Novosibirsk – fired anti-ship cruise missiles from the Chukchi Sea, hitting targets at a distance of 250 miles.

Lee Boyd Malvo mug shot

Virginia has denied parole to convicted sniper killer Lee Boyd Malvo, ruling that he is still a risk to the community two decades after he and his partner terrorized the Washington, D.C., region with a series of random shootings.

Malvo was 17 when he and John Allen Muhammad shot and killed 10 people and wounded three others over a three-week span in October 2002. Multiple other victims were shot and killed across the country in the prior months as the duo made their way to the nation's capital region from Washington state.

Malvo was convicted of capital murder in Virginia and sentenced to life in prison without parole. But a series of Supreme Court rulings and a change in Virginia law gave Malvo the opportunity to seek parole after serving nearly 20 years in custody.

After flying two planes filled with migrants to the ultra-liberal Martha’s Vineyard, prominent blue voices are taking shots at the Sunshine State gov, accusing him of both human trafficking and kidnapping.

Former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton dropped by MSNBC’s Morning Joe to offer her two cents on DeSantis’ migrant flights.

“I think, Joe, you have laid out the craziness of the time in which we’re living where some politicians would rather not only have an issue but exacerbate it to the extent of literally human trafficking, as you said,” she said. “So many other Americans — I happen to believe still the majority of Americans — are good-hearted and generous and when people end up on their doorstep in need, they’re going to respond. They’ll feed them and house them and the kids in the AP Spanish class will be let out of high school so they can go and translate. That’s the kind of American spirit that we try to celebrate at the Clinton Global Initiative.”

A bipartisan coalition of 18 state attorneys general are calling on President Biden to take "immediate and decisive action" to declare fentanyl a weapon of mass destruction -- arguing that doing so could protect Americans from a "mass casualty event."

In a letter to Biden, the 18 attorneys general -- led by Florida AG Ashley Moody -- note that fentanyl is "exacerbating the death toll increasing exponentially every year for the last several years."

"The purpose of this letter is to propose an unorthodox solution that may help abate or at least slow the crisis’s trajectory while also protecting Americans from a mass casualty event from fentanyl," they say."We ask that you consider classifying illegal fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction or, if you conclude you do not have authority to do so, urge Congress to pass legislation to do so."

Former President Donald Trump's lawyers earned a legal win in court, as Judge Aileen Cannon selected one of Trump special master nominees, but Trump is going to pay for it, she ruled, Politico reported Thursday.

Trump will be on the hook for the costs associated with the work of special master Raymond Dearie, a senior judge in Brooklyn, who will lead the independent review of the materials seized by the FBI and the Justice Department during an August raid of Trump's private residence at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump will also have to pay for staff or associates hired by Dearie, according to Cannon's ruling.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley said the leaking of confidential donor information by New York Attorney General Letitia James is an example of the radical left's "win-at-all costs mentality."

Haley, in a New York Post opinion column, warned liberals who "think they can intimidate and silence conservatives. They don't know who they're messing with."

"Conservatives have been too nice for too long," wrote Haley, widely considered a contender for the 2024 GOP national ticket. "I will hold the New York attorney general's office accountable. And liberals should be very worried when conservatives next win elections, at both the state and federal levels.

A long-delayed plan to dismantle Interstate 375, a 1-mile depressed freeway in Detroit that was built by demolishing Black neighborhoods 60 years ago, was a big winner of federal money Thursday, the first Biden administration grant awarded to tear down a racially divisive roadway.

The $104.6 million is among $1.5 billion in transportation grants handed out to 26 projects nationwide thanks to increased funding from the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law.

It allows Michigan to move forward on its $270 million effort to transform the stretch in Detroit into a street-level boulevard, reconnecting surrounding neighborhoods and adding amenities, such as bike lanes. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has said he would make racial justice a priority in his department's funding awards, pledging wide-ranging help to communities. Black Bottom and Paradise Valley, two of the city's predominantly African American neighborhoods, were razed as part of the 1950s creation of an interstate highway system, displacing 100,000 Black residents and erecting a decades-long barrier between the downtown and communities to the east.

According to a Fox News report, news companies that embrace liberal ideology have suffered financially as viewers start to tune out. New ownership at CNN and Politico indicates some news organizations are starting to understand the catchphrase “go woke, go broke.”

“CNN is learning the hard way that going hard left is bad for ratings and bad for business. Now a new German owner is trying to rid Politico of its liberal excess. Will this increase readers? It’s not working at all at CNN, perhaps because the damage is already done. Politico went all in on anti-Trump behavior, and it will be hard to come back from that,” a longtime media executive told Fox News Digital.

From Fox News:

CNN famously drifted from a just-the-facts news organization to a partisan network loaded with liberal opinion hosts under former boss Jeff Zucker. But a long-planned merger put CNN under the control of newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year – only a few months after Warner Bros. Discovery John Malone declared CNN should “evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists,” during an interview that sent shock waves through the network’s newsroom.

The new regime, led by CNN CEO Chris Licht, quickly made it known he wanted to put an emphasis on news and distance itself from the partisan reputation it earned with nonstop attacks on Republican lawmakers and other conservatives. Licht has even met with Republican lawmakers in Washington attempting to salvage relationships, with the hopes that high-profile conservatives will agree to appear on the network when asked, and urged his anchors to use less polarizing rhetoric.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said on Wednesday that the time has come to reconsider the Big Apple's historic "right to shelter" laws as he cannot handle the influx of illegal immigrants being bused from Texas. The city has identified itself as a "sanctuary city" where illegal aliens are more than welcome, and even sought to give non-citizens the right to vote in local elections.

Adams said the system is "nearing its breaking point" and "no city official, advocate, or court could have contemplated" how to manage the mass illegal immigration. The city has a policy of giving a bed to anyone who seeks one, and over the weekend, it was unable to live up to that promise.

woke homelessness director in Martha’s Vineyard has brazenly claimed that the 50 migrants flown in by Gov DeSantis will have to move somewhere else because there is ‘no room’ on the billionaire enclave.

DeSantis flew in 50 migrants on two planes to affluent Martha’s Vineyard Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, on Wednesday, sparking a meltdown from the liberal leadership on the island – who declared it a humanitarian emergency.

Lisa Belcastro claims that the island cannot support the migrants  - where the median home price is nearly $1m- because it is facing a shortage of affordable housing.

Multiple whistleblowers have come forward to Congress alleging the Capitol Police had significant intelligence warnings about violence on Jan. 6 and the department failed to create the proper security plan, a key lawmaker tells Just the News.

Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), the top Republican on the House Administration Committee, which oversees Capitol security, confirmed the whistleblowers after a Just the News report on Tuesday revealed that former Capitol Police intelligence analyst Eric Hoar wrote a stinging email to his leadership three days after the Jan. 6 riots alleging widespread failures to react to the pre-riot intelligence warnings.

Davis said several of those raising concerns have faced reprisal and retaliation, something he hopes Republicans will expose if they take control of Congress next year.

Facebook has been spying on the private messages and data of American users and reporting them to the FBI if they express anti-government or anti-authority sentiments — or question the 2020 election — according to sources within the Department of Justice.

Under the FBI collaboration operation, somebody at Facebook red-flagged these supposedly subversive private messages over the past 19 months and transmitted them in redacted form to the domestic terrorism operational unit at FBI headquarters in Washington, DC, without a subpoena.

“It was done outside the legal process and without probable cause,” alleged one of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Facebook provides the FBI with private conversations which are protected by the First Amendment without any subpoena.”

Illinois is passing a law that some would say will make history. Illinois is looking to be the first state in the United States to abolish cash bail. And the consequences of passing such a law have many believing the state could mirror the horror movie “The Purge”. In the film, citizens were given 24 hours to commit all the crimes they wanted.

On January 1st of 2023 the ‘SAFE-T’ Act will commence in the state of Illinois. This act will get rid of the cash bail system in its entirety. The name SAFE-T is an acronym for ‘Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity-Today’. Those that instated the act believe it will reduce arrests and limit those put away based on the crime.

A recently released study suggests the number of Christians in the U.S. is diminishing quickly and being replaced by those who do not identify with any religion.

new report by Pew Research Center and the General Social Survey published Tuesday found a surge of adults leaving Christianity to become atheist, agnostic or "nothing in particular." It predicted that if the number of Christians under 30 abandoning their faith accelerates beyond the current pace, adherents of the historically dominant religion of the U.S. could become a minority by 2045.

Noting how approximately 90% of Americans identified as Christians in the early 1990s, the study observed that number, which includes children, had fallen to only 64% by 2020. The number of people in the U.S. who identify as religiously unaffiliated, meanwhile, skyrocketed from 16% in 2007 to 29% in 2020, the research showed. Other religions such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, accounted for approximately 6% in 2020.

A federal judge said she could not accept the Justice Department's claim that Donald Trump does not "have a possessory interest" in some documents that were seized from Mar-a-Lago just because they're classified government records without further review by a third party.

On Thursday, Judge Aileen M. Cannon of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida appointed a special master to review more than 11,000 documents seized from Mar-a-Lago in August and rejected the DOJ's appeal that would have allowed the department to continue to use a set of classified records as part of its criminal investigation during that review.

As part of her reasoning, Judge Cannon wrote in her decision that her court can't accept the department's claims that Trump should not have had the classified documents until the review by a special master is completed.

Tesla owner in Canada claimed he is locked out of his $140,000 vehicle after the battery died, and that the electric automaker told him a replacement would cost $26,000.

Mario Zelaya posted a video on TikTok saying his "piece of trash" Model S died and that the car is locked, preventing him from being able to get inside. The caption on the video reads: "$26K for a new battery. Locked out of car. Recalls are needed."

He said he purchased the car in 2013 but said models from that year and 2014 have issues with fluid from the air conditioning system leaking onto the battery.

"I got Transport Canada involved, and they actually did an investigation on the car. Not only did they do an investigation on this car, they're gonna be doing one that Tesla doesn't realize is coming up."

A WHISTLE blower has claimed UN staff could have carried out 60,000 rapes in the last decade as aid workers indulge in sex abuse unchecked around the world.

The claim is in a bombshell dossier that former senior United Nations official Andrew Macleod handed over to DFID Secretary Priti Patel last year.

In it, Professor Macleod also estimated there are 3,300 paedophiles working for the world body’s various agencies alone.

Thousands more “predatory” sex abusers specifically target aid charity jobs to get close to vulnerable women and children.
