Thought for the day

"Everything went strictly ‘by the book,’ using means that were permitted by the constitution. At first there were ‘emergency decrees’ by the president of the Reich, and later a bill was passed by a two-thirds majority of the Reichstag giving the government unlimited legislative powers, perfectly in accordance with the rules for changing the constitution." -- Sebastian Haffner, Defying Hitler (paperback, Kindle, audiobook)

An old clip from Laura Ingraham’s Fox TV show has been making the rounds again, featuring former CIA director James Woolsey admitting that the United States used to, and still does, “meddle” in other countries’ elections after which Woolsey and Ingraham share a hearty chuckle. Jimmy next shows other videos, one of a former FBI director admitting to “meddling” in elections here in the United States and the other of former Defense Secretary John Bolton admitting to plotting coups in other countries.
