With the assassination of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah and a number of the Hizbullah senior leadership in Beirut – expressly without prior warning being given to the Pentagon – Netanyahu fired the start gun on an implicit Israeli widening of war to – using Israel’s term – the ‘octopus’ tentacles’: Hizbullah in Lebanon; Ansarullah in Yemen; the Syrian government and the Iraqi Hash’ad A-Shaabi forces.

NATO has launched nuclear drills in Western Europe amid high tensions with Russia over the Ukraine conflict. The annual ‘Steadfast Noon’ exercise kicked off on Monday, and involves thirteen members of the US-led military bloc.

NATO forces are training in deploying American nuclear weapons, which Washington has installed under the bloc’s nuclear-sharing arrangement.

“It was a massacre—death, suffering, and devastation at every turn. Israeli bombings targeted displaced civilians, and sniper fire was a relentless threat,” Massay recalled.

“The violence was a constant reminder of mortality, as Palestinians in Gaza faced annihilation. After every airstrike, we dealt with mass casualties—many of whom did not survive.”

He described the situation as a “brutal, relentless conveyor belt of killings orchestrated by Israeli forces,” which since October of last year has claimed over 42,100 lives, the majority of whom are children and women.

Something big is coming, and whatever it is, there’s now a heightened chance that the US will become directly involved.

The US foreign policy establishment used to include men who were capable of strategic thinking. No more. What passes for strategic thinking now is the endless reiteration of Israeli talking points uttered by retired generals who are owned by the weapons industry and the Israeli lobby.

Israel considers Iran “the largest exporter of terror and human rights violations in the world while continuing to enrich uranium and dangerously close to obtaining a nuclear bomb that it could achieve in the coming weeks”.
