"Everyone knows that alcohol destroys brain cells. But I have dedicated my life to testing the theory that if you drink exactly the right amount, only the weak brain cells will die!" -- Michael Rivero

For twelve months since last October, US leaders have cheered on Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza, even as the genocide there — funded and armed by the United States — has killed over forty thousand Palestinians, roughly half of them women and children. The cheers have continued as Israel has expanded its bombardments to, now, three other Arab countries:  Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria.

A church of the Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Tyre, Lebanon, was hit by a missile from Israeli airstrikes in the country’s south Oct. 9, killing at least eight people, the British branch of the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has reported.

A UN inquiry has accused Israel of "extermination" and war crimes over its destruction of Gaza's medical system.

Navi Pillay, a former UN high commissioner for human rights and chair of the inquiry, said Israel had carried out "relentless and deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities" since October 2023.

Russia, Syria and Iran should take more effective measures to protect Syria's territorial integrity, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said, when asked about Israel's recent strike on Damascus.

"We will defend an urgent and permanent peace in Syria...Israel is the most concrete threat to regional and global peace," Erdogan said in an interview with Turkish media.

Though Washington once opposed Israel’s invasion into Lebanon, reports have emerged that some inside President Joe Biden’s administration now see an opportunity as the Israel Defense Forces score tactical gains against Hezbollah.

The US is planning the immediate transfer of the THAAD missile defense system to "Israel" in response to "increasing threats of ballistic missile attacks from Iran", Ynet reported on Saturday.

The decision comes as regional tensions have escalated, particularly after Iran's recent retaliatory strike on "Israel".

It also comes in spite of US warnings urging "Israel" to avoid targeting critical Iranian infrastructure, including nuclear and oil facilities, amid concerns that such an escalation could destabilize the region further.

Hezbollah claimed it had destroyed four military bases in Israel today as it launched a blistering rocket attack across the southern border.

The Iranian-proxy group said it had hit bases in Al-Jarrah, Za'rit and bases in the Golan Heights after claiming to have pushed back advancing forces late Friday.

Its fighters were 'targeting the explosives factory there with a salvo of... missiles', the group said in a statement this morning.

Ukraine's cross-border Kursk incursion, which has resulted in dozens of towns and settlements being occupied in the Russian southern border region, has entered a third month.

It started on August 6th and appeared a shock to both Kremlin leadership and even many Western leaders. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a hawkish think tank in Washington, DC, says that based on its mapping analysis the Ukrainian army has managed to hold on to about 300 square miles of territory at this point.

It’s rare nowadays for Russian officials to give interviews to Western media, both because the first suspect that their words won’t be accurately reported while the second fear being “canceled”, which is why it’s so important that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov just gave a written interview to Newsweek.
