Thought for the day

"The first panacea of a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permeant ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists." -- Ernest Hemingway

After the assassination of JFK, people around the world mourned and tried to come to terms with the death of John F. Kennedy. Many found solace in the fanatical Kennedy clan.

Led by the iconic and unwavering Jackie Kennedy following the family adage of "the Kennedys don't cry", people grieved for her because she and the Kennedy family refused to break up.

The three-year-old youngest member of the Kennedy family, John F. Kennedy Jr. or John-John, was no exception. As the coffin was headed from St. Matthew's Cathedral to the President's final resting place, JFK Jr. stepped forward and raised his small hand in salute, an image that broke the hearts of millions. Photographer Dan Farrell, who took the photo, called it "the saddest thing I've ever done in my entire life."

John F. Kennedy Jr. was the first child born to an elected President of the United States. Kennedy died in a small plane crash with his wife Caroline Bessett-Kennedy and their older sister, Lauren, on their way to Martha's Vineyard. He had planned to leave Lauren and continue the family marriage.
