George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley warned that President Joe Biden could very well have set a trap for himself when he claimed he had not known about the classified documents that have now been found in several places.

The beginning of the end of Europe’s dependency on China for precious rare earth materials may lie buried deep under the rugged reaches of northern Sweden, well above the Arctic Circle.

Sweden’s iron-ore miner LKAB said Thursday it has identified "significant deposits" in Lapland of rare earth elements that are essential for the manufacture of smartphones, electric vehicles and wind turbines.

The government-owned company that mines iron ore at Kiruna, almost 1,000 kilometers north of Stockholm, said there are more than 1 million tons of rare earth oxides.

In one of their final acts in power, House Democrats secretly passed through a rule change that will see lawmakers in the lower chamber get a $34,000 pay raise.

The new rule, proposed by Democrats on the House Administration Committee, allows House members to be reimbursed for the cost of lodging, food and travel while on official business in Washington DC.

It was tucked into the House's internal rules, rather than in annual spending bills, and therefore was not debated on the House floor, according to the New York Times.

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday charged crypto firms Genesis and Gemini with allegedly selling unregistered securities in connection with a high-yield product offered to depositors.

Gemini, a crypto exchange, and Genesis, a crypto lender, partnered in February 2021 on a Gemini product called Earn, which touted yields of up to 8% for customers.

According to the SEC, Genesis loaned Gemini users’ crypto and sent a portion of the profits back to Gemini, which then deducted an agent fee, sometimes over 4%, and returned the remaining profit to its users. Genesis should have registered that product as a securities offering, SEC officials said in a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court.

A case before the Supreme Court challenging the liability shield protecting websites such as YouTube and Facebook could "upend the internet," resulting in both widespread censorship and a proliferation of offensive content, Google said in a court filing Thursday.

In a new brief filed with the high court, Google said that scaling back liability protections could lead internet giants to block more potentially offensive content — including controversial political speech — while also leading smaller websites to drop their filters to avoid liability that can arise from efforts to screen content.

"This Court should decline to adopt novel and untested theories that risk transforming today’s internet into a forced choice between overly curated mainstream sites or fringe sites flooded with objectionable content," Google said in its brief.

Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc., owns YouTube, which is at the center of the case set for oral arguments before the Supreme Court Feb. 21.

A month before George Santos was elected to Congress, one of his large donors received a call asking him to consider making another sizable contribution.

The request came from a Republican loyalist calling on behalf of RedStone Strategies, which was described in an email to the donor as an “independent expenditure” group that was supporting Mr. Santos’s bid to flip a Democratic House seat in New York. The group had already raised $800,000 and was seeking to raise another $700,000, according to the email, which was reviewed by The New York Times.

The donor came through: Days later, on Oct. 21, he sent $25,000 to a Wells Fargo Bank account belonging to RedStone Strategies.

Three months later, Mr. Santos is now in Congress, but where the donor’s money went is unclear. The Federal Election Commission said it had no evidence that RedStone Strategies was registered as a political group, and there do not appear to be any records documenting its donors, contributions or spending.

The “discovery” that Joe Biden had multiple stashes of highly classified documents begs a few salient questions that nobody, to the best of my knowledge, has answered — When were they discovered? Who discovered them? And why is this information being leaked now?

The US is facing major moves by the global community to de-dollarize their economies.  The reserve status of the US dollar will eventually come to an end, maybe not anytime soon, but sometime in the future as it is facing numerous challenges not only from major powers such as Russia and China who are actively trying to rid themselves of the toxic currency, but also countries with smaller economies who are based in the Southeast Asian region which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos.  The globalist think tank, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) published an article on August 22nd, 2022, on the US dollar’s waning influence in Southeast Asia titled ‘Southeast Asia’s Growing Interest in Non-dollar Financial Channels—and the Renminbi’s Potential Role’ stated what was taking place between China and several Southeast Asian countries:

China’s central bank—announced the launch of a new emergency liquidity arrangement that can be funded using renminbi and tapped by participating central banks during times of market stress. Three of the five participating central banks are Singapore’s, Malaysia’s, and Indonesia’s, which each recently renewed agreements with the PBOC implicitly aimed at reducing dollar usage in cross-border payments. This follows policymakers in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar all announcing efforts to reduce dollar usage, as well as comments by Indonesia’s central bank head that consumers across five of Southeast Asia’s largest economies will soon be able to make intra-regional cross-border payments via linkages that avoid using the dollar as an intermediary, as is currently often the case

Interestingly, The CEIP listed several reasons why Southeast Asian countries want to dramatically reduce the use of US dollars are as follows:

Several factors are behind the various efforts aimed at reducing dollar usage in Southeast Asia. To begin with, many officials are concerned about the potential economic impacts of U.S. monetary policy tightening on the region given its high usage of the dollar; accordingly, some are seeking to reduce usage of the dollar in intra-regional trade payments as a means of curbing dollar reliance more broadly. Recent sanctions may also be spurring demand for alternative financial channels—for example, Myanmar’s military government is actively exploring how to circumvent EU and U.S. sanctions to transact with Russia

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday he seriously doubted that ramped up Chinese military activities near the Taiwan Strait were a sign of an imminent invasion of the island by Beijing.

"We've seen increased aerial activity in the straits, we've seen increased surface vessel activity around Taiwan," Austin said during a press conference alongside U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and their Japanese counterparts.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg turned down requests to talk to a Republican senator, invites direct to him by the White House and a public appearance request from a Democrat during his time on paternity leave - despite his promise of availability - it was revealed on Thursday.

Internal Transportation Department documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act by the group Protect the Public's Trust show Buttigieg declined a request for a call with Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and to participate in Zoom call for an event with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

The reason given was his being on paternity leave. Buttigieg and his husband Chasten welcomed twins Joseph August (called Gus) and Penelope Rose in August of 2021.

Karine Jean-Pierre was forced to defend Joe Biden against charges of hypocrisy on Thursday as she was grilled in her press briefing on why the White House waited nearly a month to reveal there were additional classified documents in the president's private possession.

The White House press secretary was specifically interrogated - for the majority of her time at the podium - about Biden's promise to have a transparent administration in the wake of new details provided by the Justice Department in its probe of the president's classified cache.

Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed on Thursday that Biden's personal lawyer informed the Justice Department on December 20th that they had found classified documents in his garage at his Wilmington home.

Hunter Biden owned President Joe Biden’s Delaware house in 2018, where the elder Biden has now been discovered to have stashed classified documents, according to a document unearthed by New York Post’s Miranda Devine on Thursday.

On a document titled, “background screening request,” it appears Hunter checked a box to indicate he owned Joe Biden’s home located in Wilmington, Delaware. The document is signed July, 2018.

A new release of the Twitter Files provides further evidence that the company was aware that claims of “Russian bots” on the platform, made by Democrats and the media, were wildly exaggerated or outright fabrications. Nevertheless, Twitter continued to indulge the Democrat and mainstream media-pushed conspiracy theory in public.

As Twitter attempted to placate Democrats on the hill with an appeasement strategy, humoring claims about Russian influence they knew were false, Twitter officials complained that the strategy amounted to “feeding congressional trolls.”

The Federal Aviation Administration has been functioning without a Senate-confirmed administrator for nearly a full year – leading to more criticism and questions surrounding the mishandling of air travel meltdowns in recent months.

Both the House and Senate are concerned that there has been a void in leadership at the FAA, especially after the Southwest debacle last month and a computer glitch that led to nationwide flight cancellations for several hours Wednesday morning.

Senator Ted Cruz, who is taking the top GOP position on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee in the new Congress, said in a statement Thursday that the FAA failures exhibit the larger 'dysfunction' within the Department of Transportation under Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Dramatic footage has captured the moment Britain's prized naval flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth was 'buzzed' by a squadron of supersonic Russian fighter jets.

The trio of fighter-bombers - which included at least two SU-24 warplanes - were filmed charging towards the £3.2billion aircraft carrier and her battle group as they sailed towards the Suez Canal.

The extraordinary footage, filmed in June 2021 during Queen Elizabeth's first operational mission, was revealed today ahead of the release of a BBC documentary on the ship's seven-month deployment to the Far East.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending temporary amnesty status to thousands of Somali nationals living in the United States who would otherwise be eligible for deportation.

On Thursday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the Biden administration is extending and redesignating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, which will allow more than 2,600 Somali nationals to remain living and working in the U.S.

“Through the extension and redesignation of Somalia for Temporary Protected Status, the United States will be able to offer safety and protection to Somalis who may not be able to return to their country, due to ongoing conflict and the continuing humanitarian crisis,” Mayorkas said in a statement.

Specifically, TPS will be extended for about 430 Somalis who are already in the U.S. and allows another 2,200 eligible Somalis to join the program, securing work permits to hold American jobs.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) stated Tuesday her plan for addressing crime is “working” despite recent data showing major crime increased by 41 percent in 2022.

As Lightfoot prepares to run for reelection the upcoming mayoral race, with the first round set for 28, she has recently claimed her administration has done an adequate job handling the city’s crime crisis.

On January 10, Lightfoot shared a campaign ad on Twitter, claiming that she is putting more police officers on the streets while getting more guns off them. “When it comes to addressing crime in our city, I’ve got a plan — and it’s working.” the incumbent mayor stated in the tweet that promoted the ad.

Five days earlier, Lightfoot attacked one of her mayoral opponents, Paul Vallas, after he stated that “crime is out of control in Chicago” and that he would put more police officers on streets and public transpiration.

Lightfoot responded: “Paul, do your homework. We’re already doing all of this — holding dangerous people accountable, tackling gangs and gun violence, making equitable investments in our communities — and will continue to make Chicago safer. Much more to do, but we are on the right path.”

Democrats were successful in 2020, inserting an crooked politician with dementia into the White House and stealing the election from the most popular sitting president in history. But when Old Joe announced recently that he would run again in 2024 it was too much for the power brokers in the regime. Joe had to go.

The New York Times on Wednesday defended Hunter Biden’s massive profits for offering no real work while Joe Biden was vice president, citing Biden family sources and former business associates — but not whistleblower Tony Bobulinski.

The report, totaling 5,426 words and written by Adam Entous, Michael S. Schmidt, and Katie Benner, bashed Republicans for promoting a supposedly false narrative about President Joe Biden’s role in the family business. Breitbart News reported Joe Biden has been involved with the family’s business at least 17 times.

“The way Republicans tell it, President Biden has been complicit in a long-running scheme to profit from his position in public life through shady dealings around the world engineered by his son, Hunter Biden,” the reporters claimed, citing the family’s “former business partners, family members and close friends” as credible sources.

The reporters’ defense of the Biden family business was framed around Hunter’s drug abuse, which they alleged could hamper investigators’ ability to bring charges against Hunter for tax and gun violations. The Wall Street Journal reported in October that Hunter’s drug abuse could be an excuse the defense could successfully use to defend the president’s son against potential charges.

Proving once again that they have no influence beyond their corrupt little tribe, the corporate media’s open rebellion against Elon Musk at Mastodon is a total failure.

When Musk officially took Twitter over and began instituting several long overdue reforms against the site’s breathtaking fascism and censorship, the fake media decided it was time to kill Twitter permanently and harrumphed, harrumphed, harrumphed over to Mastodon.

Attorney General Merrick Garland named a special counsel to investigate former President Donald Trump, not President Joe Biden, two weeks after Biden’s classified briefings and documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center.

On November 18, Garland named former federal prosecutor Jack Smith special counsel for two probes by the Department of Justice of Trump. About two weeks prior, on November 2, Biden’s classified documents were reportedly unearthed at Biden’s so-called “think tank,” the Penn Biden Center, by the president’s attorney.

The timeline suggests Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate Biden’s 2024 presidential political opponent for allegedly mishandling classified documents while potentially knowing Biden had allegedly committed the same violation.

CPI came in close to expected and we could not have asked for a better reaction. The market had been discounting a very low CPI level, and we  had mentioned that an “unchanged” or higher CPI level would not be so good obviously. That was correct as far as stocks go. Stocks are bid, but nothing exciting. There are sellers keeping a lid on them so far.

In Gold and Silver, not only are the sellers NOT selling, but there are even more flows rotating out of stocks and into the asset class today. The flows into GLD and SLV are signs of a longer term trend today. Domestic demand is the reason for this rally.

Overnight the Japanese yen soared (if not quite as much as it did last month when the BOJ unexpectedly doubled the trading band of its Yield Curve Control to +/- 0.50% sparking the biggest surge in the Japanese currency since LTCM and the 1998 Asian Crisis), after Japan’s Yomiuri reported that the BoJ is to review the side effects of its massive monetary easing at its policy meeting next week and may take additional steps to correct distortions in the yield curve due to skewed interest rates despite last month’s tweak in its bond yield control policy. Translation: there is a chance the BOJ will once again “surprise” the market with yet another YCC tweak. The news predictably unleashed a surge in the yen as it would mean outgoing BOJ head Kuroda will need to buy even less bonds, inject less liquidity, and implicitly prop up the currency; as of 8:00pm ET, the USDJPY had tumbled as low as 128.66 from 132 yesterday, before bouncing modestly just above 129.

Russian forces, who have reportedly suffered considerable losses on the front line, have now deployed additional units of the world’s most powerful mortar, which is capable of using a nuclear warhead on the battlefield.

Dubbed the “Sledgehammer,” the self-propelled 2S4 Tyulpan mortar, known as the Tulip in English, has a 240mm cannon — twice the caliber of NATO mortars, which are just 120mm — making it by far the largest caliber mortar system in the world. Carried on its own tracks, it has a range of 19 kilometers and is used to destroy large fortifications, military equipment, or strategic positions.

China has recently considerably ramped up its gold imports, in an effort to diversify the People’s Bank of China’s (PBOC) holdings, as well as reduce their reliance on the US dollar (DXY). This has also been seen as a move to prepare for the country’s resurging industrial and manufacturing activity, especially when it comes to jewellery manufacturing.

This sudden rise in gold purchases happened in November 2022, following a three-year break by the PBOC. In November an extra 32 tonnes of gold was bought, on top of the usual monthly purchases, which was then followed by a further 30 tonnes in December, according to the World Gold Council.
