The National Institutes of Health (NIH) received roughly $50 billion for medical research funding from Congress’ recent $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill. However, move over diseases and pandemics; that was so in 2020.
The Center Square reports “a closer look at the agency reveals that NIH is increasingly spending its time, and funds, on equity and LGBT issues as well as ‘systemic racism and inequities.” In 2020, the agency created a new category for research called social determinants of health.”
The category became an avenue to funnel millions of dollars through grants. The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities was “upgraded” from a center to an institute during the Obama administration. “We all have a responsibility to correct systemic racism and inequities,” NIH says on its website.
The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that DOJ officials also opted for the hands-off approach in order to avoid complicating future phases of the investigation and to not interfere with special counsel Rober Hur’s work.

As Republican Kari Lake appeals a legal defeat in her lawsuit challenging certification of her narrow loss in Arizona’s Nov. 8 gubernatorial election, she is alleging that ballot chain-of-custody issues occurred at Runbeck Election Services, a company that municipalities across the country use for outsourcing election operations.
Lake is appealing a ruling against her last month in her suit against former Secretary of State and current Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs and Maricopa County election officials demanding the election result be set aside due to alleged failures and misconduct by the county. Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson found that Lake failed to meet a legal standard of clear and convincing evidence that intentional misconduct changed the outcome of the election.
In her appeal, which challenges the legal standard applied by the trial court, Lake alleges that Maricopa County’s “massive violations of law and maladministration” included violating Arizona law’s chain-of-custody requirements by not having Election Day dropbox ballots counted at Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) before going to Runbeck.
Lake’s appeal cites testimony from Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer in last month’s civil trial that Election Day dropbox ballots are not counted at MCTEC, but are instead “counted by our people at Runbeck because they have a high-speed counter because that’s the only day in which approximately 300,000 early ballots come in on one day.”
Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera is in hot water again with critics, this time over a hot take he posted to Twitter suggesting that the new Republican House majority was focused on the wrong thing — an investigation into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden over past business dealings.
Also, Rivera was critical of the appointment of special counsels for both Presidents Biden and Trump regarding their possession of highly classified documents, perhaps in violation of federal law, at least in Biden’s case.
“Appointing a Special Counsel to investigate President Biden is as lame as it was to raid & relentlessly probe President Trump. Scold both of them. Revoke their library cards. Then, for the good of the country, move on. This case has 0 impact on the American people,” he wrote on the platform on Friday.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday responded to an accusation from the White House that Republicans were launching "hypocritical" investigations into President Biden's handling of classified documents, pledging that lawmakers would conduct oversight of the special counsel investigations into both Trump and Biden.
Speaking to reporters, McCarthy defended a new probe led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, into Biden's alleged "mishandling" of classified records and the special counsel investigation into the matter. The White House blasted the House GOP probe Monday, telling Fox News Digital, "House Republicans are playing politics in a shamelessly hypocritical attempt to attack President Biden."
McCarthy answered the accusation of hypocrisy by contrasting how the Justice Department treated former President Trump with how Biden has been treated. He said that Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special prosecutor to investigate Biden only after "other people raised the issue," asking, "Are the same amount of agents investigating this that are investigating President Trump?
Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest crude oil exporter, is open to discussing oil trade settlements in currencies other than the U.S. dollar, Saudi Minister of Finance, Mohammed Al-Jadaan, told Bloomberg TV in an interview in Davos on Tuesday.
The Saudi signal that it could be open to talks about oil trade arranged in non-dollar currencies could be another threat to the current dominance of the U.S. dollar in global oil trade.
“There are no issues with discussing how we settle our trade arrangements, whether it is in the US dollar, whether it is the euro, whether it is the Saudi riyal,” Al-Jadaan told Bloomberg TV.
“I don’t think we are waving away or ruling out any discussion that will help improve the trade around the world,” the Saudi minister added.
The Saudi riyal has been pegged to the U.S. dollar for decades, while the Saudi oil exports continue to support the petrodollar system from the 1970s in which the world’s top oil exporter prices its crude in U.S. dollars.
Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) says he anticipates that House Republicans will launch an investigation of how Democrat political pressure influenced AT&T and Verizon to blacklist One America News Network (OAN) in the new Congress.
With Republicans in control of the lower chamber and its committees, they will have new powers to launch investigations and call witnesses. In an interview with OAN, Rep. Carter said he would investigate efforts by Democrat members of the Energy and Commerce Committee, namely Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA), to pressure AT&T and Verizon to blacklist the conservative channel.
Scientists have developed a laser that could detect extraterrestrial life in outer space, which could speed up the decades-long quest to find other beings “on faraway moons and planets.”
The NASA-backed research conducted at the University of Maryland shows that the laser technology could potentially identify signs of life and analyze materials from other planets.
The study was published Monday in the Nature Astronomy journal.
“The good thing about a laser source is that anything that can be ionized can be analyzed,” lead study author Ricardo Arevalo, an associate professor of geology at the University of Maryland, said in a statement. “If we shoot our laser beam at an ice sample, we should be able to characterize the composition of the ice and see biosignatures in it.”
Webmaster addition: On the other hand, a laser capable of ionizing materials might be seen as a weapon by the "ionizee!"
Road signs warning drivers of "unexpected pedestrians" have gone up in El Paso, Texas amid a surge in migrant crossings at the southern border -- with risks posed to both drivers and migrants.
Signs warning drivers to "watch for unexpected pedestrians" have gone up in recent months in El Paso along highways next to border barriers sealing off the border with Mexico. El Paso is one of the areas that saw some of the biggest spikes in migrants coming across the border in recent months, with the city declaring a state of emergency in December.
There were more than 2.3 million migrant encounters in FY 2022, and so far the months in FY 2023, which began in October, are outpacing the months of the prior fiscal year. That’s in addition to nearly 600,000 "gotaways" who slipped past overwhelmed Border Patrol agents and got into the country.
Illinois Democrats continue attempts to take away gun rights.
However, sheriffs are fighting back. They are refusing to implement new laws restricting people’s gun rights.
According to The Western Journal, “‘Governor J.B. Pritzker signed House Bill 5471 on Tuesday. The new bill bans the purchase and use of ‘commonly-used firearms and firearm components in Illinois,’ Madison County Sheriff Jeff Connor and Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine said in a joint statement, The Telegraph reported.”
The Governor says that the goal of the bill is to promote safety. However, many feel the new law infringes on their Second Amendment rights. That’s why a few sheriffs are refusing to enforce it. The sheriffs of Whitehead, Knox, and Henry Counties are reportedly stating that they will not enforce the law within their jurisdictions.
The people have had enough. At least six BBC buildings across the UK were covered with placards and photos of people who died from the COVID vaccine.
The rally called the “media is the virus” was held on Saturday, January 7th, and it was organized by three different groups: The People’s Resistance, Freedom Fighters, and The North Unites.
At least six BBC locations were simultaneously targeted during the rally: BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC Yorkshire Leeds, BBC Media City Salford, BBC the Mailbox Birmingham, and BBC Barrack Rd, Newcastle.
“The BBC are traitors to our country,” according to a post on Telegram. “All mockingbird media are traitors to everyone’s country and have been for a very long time,” the post continued.
Obama administration ethics chief Walter Shaub slammed President Joe Biden during an interview this week after classified documents were found in his home and a think tank bearing his name.
“It’s nothing like Trump’s deliberate refusal to return classified records demanded by the National Archives, but Biden’s own retention of classified records reflects an inexcusable neglect of the most basic security protocols,” Shaub told Fox News. “The fact that the White House didn’t mention that records were found in more than one location when first asked about them was a breach of trust with the public and a self-inflicted wound.”
“Based on what we know so far, it seems unlikely that he’s at risk of any of legal consequences,” Shaub claimed, “but I’m glad Garland appointed a special counsel to show even-handed treatment of the current and former president.”
In the October 2022 version of the FAA Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners, the FAA quietly widened the EKG parameters beyond the normal range (from a PR max of .2 to unlimited). And they didn’t widen the range by a little. They widened it by a lot. It was done after the vaccine rollout.
This is extraordinary. They did it hoping nobody would notice. It worked for a while. Nobody caught it.
But you can’t hide these things for long.
This is a tacit admission from the US government that the COVID vaccine has damaged the hearts of our pilots. Not just a few pilots. A lot of pilots and a lot of damage.
The cardiac harm of course is not limited to pilots.
My best guess right now is that over 50M Americans sustained some amount of heart damage from the shot.
That’s a lot of people who will be very upset when they realize the vaccine they took to reduce their chance of dying from COVID actually worked in reverse making it:
More likely that people will get COVID
Be hospitalized from COVID and other diseases
Die from COVID (and other diseases)
You also have an excellent chance of getting a lifetime of heart damage for no extra charge.
If President Joe Biden taught us anything recently, it is that you should get your own house in order before criticizing others.
A George Soros-backed group targeting Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis may soon get this lesson.
The conservative website Western Journal reported on Monday that a leftist group that sued DeSantis over shipping illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard last summer faces an IRS ethics complaint.
The website, citing a report by The Washington Examiner, noted that Alianza Americas, a nonprofit funded by Soros’ Open Society Foundations, was accused of failing to disclose political lobbying on its IRS 990 tax forms for two years.
Hunter Biden’s monthly rent of $49,910 matches a rental deposit at the House of Sweden related to the Biden family business venture with the infamous CEFC China Energy Co. Hunter’s $49,910 deposit also matches the amount of money he logged on a 2018 background check document unearthed by the New York Post’s Miranda Devine.
In an email on October 13, 2017, Cecilia Browning, the general manager of House of Sweden, an office complex in Washington, DC, emailed Hunter about a lease that Hunter and his Chinese business partners were trying to terminate, according to emails unearthed from Hunter’s “Laptop from Hell.”
Browning notes the amount of the deposit was $49,910 for the office space and that it would be returned to Hunter upon signing a lease termination document.
“If you are willing to terminate the lease of #507 – the owners are willing to let you out of the lease as of December 31, 2017,” Browning emailed Hunter. “Please note that there is a security deposit paid by you of $49,910 which will be returned within 15 days after the termination of the lease (after inspection of normal wear and tear).”
Hunter had apparently requested the termination of the lease after his deal with CEFC China Energy fell apart. The Biden family had previously negotiated a deal with CEFC whereby President Joe Biden (Big Guy) would receive a ten percent equity stake in the joint venture, whistleblower Tony Bobulinski stated.
Patrick Reed's law firm, Klayman's Law Group, has threatened CNN with a $450m defamation lawsuit if it doesn't issue a public apology to the 2018 Masters champion and LIV Golf player.
The lawsuit is issued to CNN's Jake Tapper and Bob Costas who are alleged to have made defamatory comments towards Reed in a broadcast.
Klayman, on behalf of Reed, has demanded an on air public apology from CNN and for the broadcast to be removed and retracted from CNN’s websites, streaming services and other forms of publication "in order to mitigate the damage which they have caused."
If this doesn't happen within five days, Klayman reserves the right "to sue Tapper, Costas and CNN pursuant to Florida Statute 770.01 for damages well in excess of $450,000,000 dollars which includes compensatory, actual, special and punitive damages."
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian army to increase the number of service members to 1.5 million from 2023 to 2026, according to a briefing of Russia's defense ministry.
Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu last mentioned the goal of expanding the army from 1 million to 1.5 million, including 695,000 contracted soldiers, during a Dec. 21 meeting with Putin and his defense chiefs.
According to the Russian defense ministry's Telegram channel, there are plans to create additional divisions, corps and military districts, as well as strengthen existing ones.
Russian forces are advancing towards the embattled city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine after capturing the nearby salt-mining town of Soledar, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russia on Friday claimed to have captured Soledar, which is located nine miles north of Bakhmut in Ukraine's Donetsk region. Russian troops were led in that battle by members of the notorious paramilitary unit, the Wagner Group, founded by Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin in 2014.
And on Tuesday, Kremlin-installed authorities in the Donetsk region said in a statement on Telegram that Soledar was under Russian control.
"On the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, Russian troops liberated Soledar," the post said.

The Swiss escort agencies near Davos are already fully booked ahead of this year’s World Economic Forum, the elite gathering that brings together heads of state, corporate executives, and influential non-profiteers, Austrian outlet Exxpress reported on Sunday, citing a missive purportedly sent from one such agency.
In a message to unnamed hospitality staff and published by Exxpress, escort agency Sensuallounge Escort urges readers to book their “fine selection of ladies and gentlemen” ahead of time to ensure “the best possible care and company during the World Economic Forum.”
Sensuallounge reportedly offers “services for all sexual orientations,” and the outlet claims one night with one of their employees costs €2,350 (just over $2,500). The service does not appear to accept cash as payment, offering clients the option of paying with a major credit card or via PayPal.
Webmaster addition: I guess we know what Davos is really all about! :)
