The Conservative Party is investigating former minister Alan Duncan after he said it was time to "flush out" senior leaders in the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) group after Israeli forces killed seven aid workers in Gaza.

Duncan, in an interview with LBC, said senior figures from the CFI, including Stuart Polak, Eric Pickles, and Security Minister Tom Tugendhat, spent their time in parliament "doing the bidding of [Benjamin] Netanyahu in parliament".

The former minister also called on Britain to end all arms sales to Israel after campaigners raised concerned that an Israeli drone powered by British components was used to kill the aid workers.

"I think the time has come to flush out those extremists in our own parliamentary politics and around it," Duncan said on Wednesday.

In two public performances of less than two minutes apiece, Chrystia Freeland (lead images), Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, and leader of Canada’s war against Russia, has demonstrated bizarre facial and upper torso symptoms.

Political analysts and psychiatrists have been asked if they believe Freeland is suffering from a clinical pathology or drug abuse. Cocaine use has been ruled out. According to a medical psychiatrist, “the display [of symptoms] is remarkable. And just as remarkable, they disappear when [Freeland] takes the tribune from the prime minister and starts to make a speech herself. The control of torso, eyes, and speech she shows then is not consistent with chronic cocaine use.” The source, who specializes in treating drug addiction, says that Freeland’s display of symptoms does not reveal the twitches, tics, or other involuntary muscular movements usually seen with cocaine users.

“What can I make of the relentless movements,” the source commented. “[They] are more or less non-stop and they serve to draw attention away from everybody but herself. In her speech, there was no restlessness.  It was fluent and clear. But she was the centre of attention then. It seems to me that with all her restless movements taking so many different forms she could still be the centre of attention…In some ways she was like the child who must always have attention.”

In the wake of the deadly strike on the World Central Kitchen convoy and US President Joe Biden’s tense conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s security cabinet decided to take immediate steps to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the Prime Minister’s Office announced early Friday.

Israel will temporarily open up Ashdod Port for humanitarian deliveries and will open Erez Crossing in the northern Gaza Strip for the first time since it was significantly damaged, and many Israelis were killed and abducted there, during the Hamas-led October 7 terror onslaught that sparked the ongoing war.

Israel will also increase the amount of aid from Jordan moving through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The collective net worth of Russia’s richest persons has soared by $72 billion over the past year to $577 billion, despite unprecedented sanctions pressure, according to Forbes annual World’s Billionaires List.

Vagit Alekperov, former president of Russian oil giant Lukoil, leads the latest ranking as the richest Russian businessman on the list. The 73-year-old’s fortune has reportedly risen from $20.5 billion to $28.6 billion over the past year.

In 2022, Alekperov stepped down as chief executive officer of Russia’s second-largest oil producer, a post he’d held for nearly three decades. The move came after the billionaire was hit by UK and Australian sanctions as part of the West’s Ukraine-related penalties on Moscow.

Tesla on Tuesday said it delivered 386,810 electric vehicles over the first three months of 2024, falling wildly short of Wall Street’s expectations. Last week, after a first quarter that one analyst called a “nightmare,” many analysts lowered their estimates. But the sales figures Tesla reported Tuesday fell far below even the revised estimates. Wall Street had estimated deliveries of 457,000 EVs for the first quarter, according to a consensus tracked by FactSet.

Despite making pledges to cut down on plastic packaging, a new report from the nonprofit conservation organization Oceana estimates that Amazon’s plastic waste has continued to grow in the US.

The company created 208 million pounds of plastic waste from its packaging in the US in 2022 alone, which Oceana says is enough trash to circle Earth more than 200 times in the form of plastic air pillows. That’s a nearly 10 percent jump from the amount of plastic waste it generated the year before, according to the report.

The first three F-16 Fighting Falcons that will be loaded with self-flying technology have arrived at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, the Air Force said Tuesday. The arrival of the F-16s marks the service’s biggest step forward yet in standing up the program known as Venom, which stands for Viper Experimentation and Next-gen Operations Model-Autonomy Flying Testbed and aims to speed up the testing of autonomous technology on both crewed and uncrewed aircraft. The Air Force hopes the autonomous technology tested under Venom could help it more quickly shape plans to create a fleet of self-flying drones that team up with crewed fighters in battle, known as collaborative combat aircraft.

A shocking story was promoted on the "front page" or main feed of Elon Musk's X on Thursday: "Iran Strikes Tel Aviv with Heavy Missiles," read the headline. This would certainly be a worrying world news development. Earlier that week, Israel had conducted an airstrike on Iran's embassy in Syria, killing two generals as well as other officers. Retaliation from Iran seemed like a plausible occurrence. But, there was one major problem: Iran did not attack Israel. The headline was fake. Even more concerning, the fake headline was apparently generated by X's own official AI chatbot, Grok, and then promoted by X's trending news product, Explore, on the very first day of an updated version of the feature.

The nation's first outdoor test to limit global warming by increasing cloud cover launched Tuesday from the deck of a decommissioned aircraft carrier in the San Francisco Bay. The experiment, which organizers didn't widely announce to avoid public backlash, marks the acceleration of a contentious field of research known as solar radiation modification. The concept involves shooting substances such as aerosols into the sky to reflect sunlight away from the Earth. The move led by researchers at the University of Washington has renewed questions about how to effectively and ethically study promising climate technologies that could also harm communities and ecosystems in unexpected ways.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets with clashes between demonstrators and police, according to media reports.

The Times of Israel has reported that at least one person was arrested by officers, but protesters then attempted to block their car.

Two women were also knocked down during the chaos, with images shared online which appear to show them on the ground being tended to by paramedics.

Some of the people on the march waved Israeli flags while others raised placards reading "Free Israel from..." with images of Netanyahu and other politicians.

Prostate cancer screening is likely to do more harm than good, experts have warned, after a 15-year trial showed one in six flagged cases was wrong. The largest study to date investigating the PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) blood test, which is used as a screening tool in some European countries, found it had a small impact on reducing deaths, but also led to a worrying level of overdiagnosis. In some cases, it missed early detection of some aggressive cancers.

This story, of what the moments after a nuclear missile launch could look like, is based on facts sourced from exclusive interviews with presidential advisers, cabinet members, nuclear weapons engineers, scientists, soldiers, airmen, special operators, Secret Service, emergency management experts, intelligence analysts, civil servants and others who have worked on these macabre scenarios over decades. As the plans for General Nuclear War are among the most classified secrets held by the US government, the scenario postulated here takes the reader up to the razor’s edge of what can legally be known. Declassified documents, obfuscated for decades, fill in the details with terrifying clarity.

U.S. Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, casts long shadows over the prospect of a secure retirement. According to the latest financial report released by the United States government, Social Security and Medicare face a staggering underfunding of $175 trillion. To put that into perspective, that amounts to approximately $1.4 million per household, dwarfing the median household net worth in the U.S., which stands at a mere fraction of this figure.

A foreign sex offender who raped a teenage girl has avoided deportation after winning a ten-year asylum battle to remain in the UK, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Judges ruled that deporting the rapist to Eritrea, East Africa, would breach his human rights because he had previously dodged military conscription and was at risk of being punished if he returned.
