At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” – Frank Zappa

“Let them eat high-fructose corn syrup!”

The liberal and loving executives in charge of manufacturing wholesome Nestle foodstuffs to sustain the peasantry have reportedly been busy beavers, dumping unheard-of quantities of processed sugar into its baby feed marketed to Third World mothers.

Via Public Eye (emphasis added):

Cerelac and Nido are some of Nestlé’s best-selling baby-food brands in low- and middle-income countries… Their sales value in this category was greater than $2.5 billion in 2022.

In its own communications or via third parties, Nestlé promotes Cerelac and Nido as brands whose aim is to help children “live healthier lives”. Fortified with vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients, these products are, according to the multinational, tailored to the needs of babies and young children and help to strengthen their growth, immune system and cognitive development.

But do these infant cereals and powdered milks really offer “the best nutrition,” as Nestlé claims...

Most Cerelac and Nido products marketed in lower-income countries do contain added sugar, often at high levels

In Senegal and South Africa, Cerelac cereals contain 6 grams of added sugar per serving*

Manufacturers may try to get children accustomed to a certain level of sugar at a very early age, so that they prefer products high in sugar.”

*One need not have done an endocrinology residency at Mount Sinai or whatever to understand how devastating 6 grams of added sugar would be for a 10-pound baby.

Where, pray tell, are all of the vaunted, credentialed medical “experts” on the processed sugar baby-poisoning pandemic?

If one were inclined to conspiracy theory, one might surmise that feeding infants high-fructose corn syrup is nothing but gravy for the medical-industrial complex — a guaranteed lifelong customer created with every feeding!

So where would the incentive lie to intervene?

While Nestle’s baby feed might be going Genghis Khan on their vulnerable little pancreases, it’s going gangbusters for the corporation’s bottom line, which conveniently has been acquiring biomedical firms left and right for decades.

That’s called solving a problem you created in the first place — the #1 marketing play in the marketer’s satanic playbook.

Claire's Observations:  To parents of small kids in the US, if you are using a formula with which to feed them, please read the labels on those containers, so that you know what your kid is actually eating.  If there are items you don't recognise, use a Google search to find out what the heck they are, and how they impact a child's health. Not all formulas are "created equal", and as a parent, knowledge is power.

The White House plans to scale back President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's involvement in delivering traditional spring commencement addresses.

Biden's upcoming speaking engagements include addresses at Morehouse College and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in May, while Harris is scheduled to deliver a graduation speech exclusively at the Air Force Academy.

According to NBC News, two White House officials pointed out that the number of speeches planned for both Biden and Harris is comparable to the figures from the past two years. Biden campaign officials emphasize that despite the media attention on campus protests, public polling and their own research indicate that young voters are prioritizing other issues over these demonstrations.

Webmaster addition: The unrest makes a good excuse, but I suspect the real issue is Biden's mental deterioration.

In the latest grim news coming out of Palestine, a mass grave was unearthed at a hospital in the Gaza town of Khan Yunis. The bodies show evidence of mass executions while others were buried with their hands bound behind their backs. Israel is, of course, denying that any civilians were killed by the IDF and instead claiming the dead must have been terrorists.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay state visits to France, Serbia and Hungary from May 5 to 10 at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron of the Republic of France, President Aleksandar Vucic of the Republic of Serbia and President Tamas Sulyok and Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Monday, a trip that experts believe is expected to shape the future of relations between China and Europe.

The visits show that both China and Europe are striving to explore the space and prospects of cooperation in an era when major power strategic competition intensifies and geopolitics returns, Chinese and European experts noted.

Soon on the heels of President Biden last week signing into law a $61 billion aid package for Ukraine's defense, President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday indicated that he's working with Washington on a bilateral security agreement which would last ten years.

"We are already working on a specific text," Zelensky said in his nightly video address. "Our goal is to make this agreement the strongest of all."

Ukrainian Presidential Press Office via AP

"We are discussing the specific foundations of our security and cooperation. We are also working on fixing specific levels of support for this year and the next 10 years."

He indicated it will likely include agreements on long-term support centering on military hardware and joint arms production, as well as continuing reconstruction aid. "The agreement should be truly exemplary and reflect the strength of American leadership," Zelensky added.

But ultimately a key purpose in locking such a long-term deal in would be to keep it immune from potential interference by a future Trump administration.

Below is what The Wall Street Journal spelled out last year:

The goal is to make sure Ukraine will be strong enough in the future to deter Russia from attacking it again. More immediately, Ukraine’s Western allies hope to discourage the Kremlin from thinking it can wait out the Biden administration for a potentially more sympathetic successor in the White House

Western officials are looking for ways to lock in pledges of support and limit future governments’ abilities to backtrack, amid fears in European capitals that Donald Trump, if he recaptures the White House, would seek to scale back aid. Trump has a wide lead in early polling in the Republican presidential primary field, but soundly lost the 2020 election to President Biden and has been indicted in four criminal cases in state and federal courts.

We and others have previously underscored that NATO and G7 countries are desperately trying to "Trump-proof" future aid to Ukraine and the effort to counter Russia.

Claire's Observations:  One has to wonder;  what will this "deal" buy for the American people, and will Congress have any say, whatsoever, in its "terms and conditions"?!?  Or is this yet another "Executive Order" via fiat, which will be of no benefit whatsoever to the American people and in which Congress will have no voice?

Because everything spent so far has not been able to change the trajectory of this war, which Russia will ultimately win; that is the cold, hard reality despite  all the military and financial aid which has been spent (read; squandered) on this horrific meatgrinder.

You have a Ukrainian government so damned crooked, that most of their members have to screw their socks on in the morning.  Add that to  outright financial theft and sleaze, and you are starting to look see the "bigger picture" here.

And don't get me started on the huge "corporate welfare" this war has provided the military industrial complex; it's been a godsend for these folks!

Couple that with vastly inferior US weaponry which has been easily defeated by the Russian military, and is being paraded around Moscow for a laugh, and you are starting to get a sense of why, at the moment, this aid package, and the 10 year "deal, is an horrific example of magical thinking on the part of the Bidenistas. "Hopium/Changium" is not going to work against Russia.

So what's next, a draft;  US boots on the ground in Ukraine before the November elections, and will there even be an election in November?

What the Bidenistas desperately want to not happen, is "losing Ukraine" before the November election, and they will do EVERYTHING in their power to prevent it.

This "Defense Agreement" between Biden and Ukraine, if it is actually moving forward, demonstrates a degree of stupidity and spite which thrusts American geopolitics into absolutely uncharted territory, and the outcome could badly jeopardize this country's future.

State troopers used pepper spray and stun grenades as they arrested dozens of pro-Palestine protesters camping at the University of Texas in Austin. At least 40 people were arrested on Monday, according to the Texas Tribune.

Some students resisted arrest and were dragged by the officers, while others shouted “shame” and threw water at the police bus.

“UT Austin requested backup assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety to protect the safety of the campus community and enforce our Institutional Rules, such as the rule that prohibits encampments on campus,” the university said in a statement.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived here a short time ago to pursue a U.S. goal - managing competition with China. A U.S. official says that means confronting China on some issues while working together on others. Blinken is traveling during an American election year, and Republicans back home are debating what they would do differently.

A Republican congressman and a former Trump administration official wrote an article saying the U.S. should push for a regime change in China. Another former Trump administration official says that's a disastrous idea. But Elbridge Colby, who was deputy assistant secretary of defense, is warning about China's military power.

Italy has joined the list of countries that supply Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles. In his interview with The Times, British Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps confirmed that together with Paris and London, Rome is preparing its SCALP EG/Storm Shadow cruise missiles for supply to Ukraine for the attacks in Russian rear, in particular in Crimea.

“I think Storm Shadow is an extraordinary weapon. Great Britain, France and Italy are preparing these weapons for use, in particular, in the occupied Crimea,” the British official said.

Shapps also noted that the UK intends to accelerate the production of Storm Shadow missiles in order not only to meet its own needs, but also to supply more missiles to Ukraine.

Previously, the transfer of Storm Shadow from Italy to Ukraine was not officially announced. However, there is no supply that Rome has been carrying out military supplies to the Ukrainian army secretly for a long time.

Unlike previous days, there were no reports of massive Russian strikes on the territory of Ukraine last night, but several pinpoint strikes destroyed various targets in the rear areas of Ukraine on April 28. On the morning of April 29, the strikes continued.

According to local reports, Russian strikes inflicted heavy damage to the Ukrainian military in the war-torn areas in the eastern Kharkiv region. On the evening of April 28, Russian forces reportedly hit a major railway junction in the town of Borovaya located not far from the current frontlines. The town is an important logistics hub used by the Ukrainian military for supply of military equipment, ammunition and manpower to the northern Donbass frontlines. The strikes were reportedly launched at about 10 p.m., several loud explosions were reported in the area. The result of the attack are yet to be confirmed by any videos or the satellite imagery.

Large Ukrainian forces are stationed in the town of Borovaya, which is used as an important logistics hub. That’s why the settlement is constantly pounded by Russian airstrikes, including with heavy aerial bombs. On April 12, 16 and 18, Russian bombs successfully destroyed the locations of the notorious 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the AFU in Borovaya. Ukrainian military sources soon confirmed heavy losses of the unit.

Ukrainian monitoring sources reported Russian strikes in the Kharkiv, Odessa, Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk regions.

According to preliminary reports, the facilities used for the deployment of military personnel were targeted in Sumy. A fire reportedly broke out at some industrial facility in the town of Shostka in the Sumy region.

A large fire was reported at an industrial entreprise in the city of Krivyi Rih in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The local authorities deny that the fire was caused by Russian strikes. As a result, there are rumors about the attack of some pro-Russian saboteurs in the city.

President Biden is facing a cascade of crises. Since nearly the start of his presidency, America has been suffering from one bad decision after another. Under Biden, the country is facing problems that have put strain on every family.

Yet, Biden and his administration seem incapable of climbing out of this pit.

Approval ratings and election polls reveal voters blame Biden for all of these problems. But it is only getting worse for the Democrat, who is seeking a second term. As his party calls on voters to keep him in power, he gets hit with a damning new report.

From Daily Caller:
The U.S. economy is showing signs of stagflation as growth slumps down and prices continue to surge for average Americans…

U.S. annual economic growth measured just 1.6% in the first quarter of 2024, following a report of persistently high inflation in March of 3.5% year-over-year. The combination of both low growth and high inflation, in conjunction with continuously high amounts of government spending and debt, has led to signs of stagflation in the U.S. economy, which wreaked havoc on U.S. consumers throughout the 1970’s, according to experts who spoke to the DCNF.

“It’s not so much that we risk stagflation as we’re already there,” E.J. Antoni, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, told the DCNF.

Fact-checkers pulled Streisand’s claim apart with the facts. Ronald Reagan inherited a crumbling economy. But thanks to his aggressive policies, the economy rebounded. Reagonimics actually continue to help America well into Clinton’s presidency.

Clinton helped bring America into another recession, which rebounded during most of Bush’s presidency. The economic crash of 2008 was thanks to policies put into place by the federal government. Obama made the problem worse thanks to raising taxes, increasing regulation, and creating Obamacare.

Prior to the pandemic, Trump’s economy was one of the best in American history. Mortgage rates were only 3 percent, something that is never seen. Only when COVID hit did the economy take a tumble; many say a Democrat in office during 2020 would have made the problem much worse.
