Former President Donald Trump adviser Stephen K. Bannon was ordered this week to report to jail on July 1 for four months for contempt of Congress, sparking renewed attention to the 2022 sentencing memo, which cites his exercise of free speech rights as part of the reason he should receive jail time.

The 24-page sentencing memo, authored by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves, filed October 17, 2022, explicitly cites instances where Bannon criticized the case against him, which was brought after he did not comply with subpoenas to hand over documents and answer questions from the Democrat-run congressional committee created to examine the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Bannon was convicted by a jury in 2022 and sentenced to four months in prison and a $200,000 fine, but the sentence was paused as he appealed the decision. An appeals court recently upheld the conviction, and Bannon was ordered to report to jail in the beginning of July.

Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force, Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi, says many foreign countries are eager to purchase and acquire the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which Iranian military experts have developed domestically.

During a visit to Shahid Yasini Tactical Air Base in Iran’s southern port city of Bushehr on Sunday, the commander highlighted the Iranian Air Force, alongside other divisions of the country’s Armed Forces, has managed to manufacture a broad spectrum of drones with various operational ranges.

Vahedi further noted that many foreign countries are interested in buying Iranian drones.

He stated that Iran’s military industries have achieved great progress following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Earlier this year, the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force took delivery of large numbers of strategic combat, reconnaissance, destruction and radar drones.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) gave away the neocon playbook Sunday, admitting that the U.S. must win the Ukraine proxy war against Russia to control Ukraine’s vast resources worth trillions of dollars.

“They’re sitting on 10-12 trillion dollars of critical minerals in Ukraine. They could be the richest country in all of Europe,” Graham said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“I don’t want to give that money and those assets to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to share with China.”

The U.S. economy seems to finally be cracking. This month a slew of retailers (off the top of my head: Target, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Best Buy and Foot Locker) reported negative year-over-year sales comps, and that’s before adjusting for the inflation that makes them 3% to 4% more negative in “real” terms.  Others (Dollar General and Burlington) reported same-store sales comps in the +2% range, but that too was negative when adjusted for inflation, while Walmart and Nordstrom comps managed to roughly keep pace with inflation, but were unable to exceed it. (To its credit, Costco comps did handily beat inflation—I wish I’d bought that damn stock 15 years ago!)

Corroborating the poor retail sales data, final Q1 GDP growth (released May 30th) came in at just 1.3%, primarily because of the weakening consumer, while pending home sales plunged. At some imminent point in time, this stock market will switch from "bad news is good news" to "bad news is bad news" as it suddenly realizes that there's a HARD economic landing coming and sticky inflation (3.6% core CPI and 2.8% core PCE ) driven by massive federal budget deficits prevents the Fed from cutting enough to compensate for it. That's what we remain positioned for.

U.S. President Joe Biden recently announced actions to bar immigrants who cross the US-Mexico border illegally.

In this graphic, Visual Capitalist's Bruno Venditti maps the number of unauthorized immigrants by state, based on 2021 estimates from the Pew Research Center based on calculations using U.S. Census Bureau data.

Pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that is the 2024 election heist all began fitting together Friday as illegal immigrants took over New York City’s Times Square to demand the abolishing of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in response to what was already a toothless and symbolic executive order from President Joe Biden.

And so begins the long foretold Cloward–Piven strategy that will not only secure for the radical Left another election cycle, but perhaps a permanent toppling of the capitalist/democratic system via Marxist revolution.

The WNBA is 80 percent non-white (71 percent black). It’s roughly 33 percent LGBTQ—a bunch of burly, tattooed black women with more testosterone than your average bowling alley addicts. So what happens when the best player in women’s college basketball history is a white female heterosexual? We get to see racial resentment from blacks toward whites (if not outright hatred of whites) on full display.

A lot of people have been posting on social media that if the heroes of D-Day had been able to see what would happen to their countries—mainly the USA, Britain, and Canada—they would not have fought.

Here’s a post at X I’ve just been looking at: an old black’n’white photograph of Allied troops going into battle with, superimposed on it, a thought balloon coming out of one soldier’s head saying: ”I hope my grandchildren become minorities in their own country.”

Waffle House plans to increase pay for servers at its restaurants across the country over the next three years, with some workers likely to see raises of a few dollars an hour.

In a video viewed by HuffPost, CEO Joe Rogers III explained to employees that the pay boosts would “affect every single salesperson at Waffle House,” and would be funded by menu price increases targeted at stores in areas with high costs of living. The raises apply only to servers and will start going into effect this month.

“This is a big deal, a massive additional investment,” Rogers said in the video. “And I don’t see many others in our industry doing things like this.”

Most Waffle House locations are spread across the South, where restaurant workers typically earn a low “tipped minimum wage” supplemented by gratuities. Waffle House workers in Georgia, for instance, can earn less than $3 per hour directly from the company, with tips expected to push them above the standard minimum wage of $7.25.

Democrats in the media are parading around the claim that Trump is now a “convicted felon.” It doesn’t matter what they think. Most Americans believed these criminal cases against Trump were always about the election. It seems Democrats are trying to derail Trump’s chances by making him look as bad as possible.

But the New York guilty verdict outraged millions of Americans. And they were quick to send a message to Democrats and the D.C. swamp.

Eric Trump claimed that three days after the verdict, his campaign brought in $200 million. Seventy million of that were from small-dollar donations. Now, just under a week after the verdict, Trump is announcing how much his campaign has brought in. Biden should be distraught.

From The Post Millennial:
Speaking at a Turning Point Action event on Thursday evening, 2024 GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump announced that his campaign has raised $400 million since his conviction in New York City in late May…

Trump said that he was “beating Biden, by the way, by a lot,” adding that “right after the announcement of this, more campaign funds were given to this campaign than any campaign they think in history, almost $400 million.”

Far-right parties rattled the traditional powers in the European Union and made major gains in parliamentary elections Sunday, dealing an especially humiliating defeat to French President Emmanuel Macron.

On a night where the 27-member bloc palpably shifted to the right, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni more than doubled her seats in the EU parliament. And even if the Alternative for Germany extreme right party was hounded by scandal involving candidates, it still rallied enough seats to sweep past the slumping Social Democrats of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Sensing a threat from the far right, the Christian Democrats of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had already shifted further to the right on migration and climate ahead of the elections — and were rewarded by remaining by far the biggest group in the 720-seat European Parliament and de facto brokers of the ever expanding powers of the legislature.

Undoubtedly however, the star on a stunning electoral night was the National Rally party of Marine Le Pen, which dominated the French polls to such an extent that Macron immediately dissolved the national parliament and called for new elections. It was a massive political risk since his party could suffer more losses, hobbling the rest of his presidential term that ends in 2027.

In one of his more bizarre outbursts, Volodymir Zelensky, red of face, jabbing his finger, recently accused China of being “an instrument in the hands of Putin”. He said this at the recent Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore as part of a world tour, in which he is encouraging participation at what Ukraine calls the Global Peace Summit.  This will take place in Switzerland from 15-16 June, and China has said it will not attend. Zelensky was treading a now well-worn path in which he and other senior Ukrainian figures insult countries that don’t bend to Ukraine’s demands for support in the war with Russia.

He believes that China has been discouraging countries from attending the Summit but provided no evidence of this.  Some reports suggest that up to 107 States may attend.  Although, in addition to Xi Jinping, there’s a chance Joe Biden may also not attend because of a fund-raiser in Texas.  Those who do send country delegations will undoubtedly enjoy the comforts of the Bürgenstock Resort on the shores of Lake Lucerne.  Though I suspect many will be confused about the purpose of the event.

For, despite its billing, this won’t be a Global Summit. If it was, it would undoubtedly look at the appalling situation in Israel and Gaza, and no doubt other conflict hotspots across the world too. It might consider more broadly how to strengthen the adherence of states to their obligations under the UN Charter or review progress in strengthening international peacebuilding architecture. But it won’t do those things.

The chief commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force has hailed the achievements of his forces in recent years, saying they have made “leaping progress” by exercising self-reliance.

Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard said the Army’s Air Defense Force is in possession of a variety of systems that enable it to react to any possible threats in a timely manner.

The force, he continued, has also made great strides in specialized areas, especially in the field of developing different types of drones and radars.

“As a manifestation of the power of the Islamic Iran, the Air Defense Force has been able to achieve significant progress through self-belief and self-confidence,” Sabahifard said on Sunday.

“The progress and development of this specialized force in the past years has been very accelerated and leaping.”

A Wyoming substitute school teacher who refused to call transgender-identifying students by their preferred names has been banned from teaching at a high school in the Laramie County School District. His job is currently under review by multiple other schools, but he insisted that he won’t back down from his stance on the names issue.

Gene Clemetson said that it all began at East High School in Cheyenne when a transgender student, who he described as a biological male, asked to be called by a female name during an attendance roll call.

“I said to him, very politely, I have to go by the name on the roster,” Clemetson told the Cowboy State Daily.

The student returned with another teacher, who informed Clemetson that the student’s parents had given the school permission to call their child by an alternate name.

Clemetson responded, “Well that’s great, but again, if I’m calling the attendance, if I’m calling the roll, I’m going by the names officially registered with the district.”

The German government has declined an offer from the Taliban to repatriate Afghan migrants convicted of crimes on the grounds that it would indicate recognition of the Islamist regime.

The offer from the Taliban government follows the murder of a police officer by an Afghan national in a senseless knife attack in the southwest city of Manheim.

Following the attack last week, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz initially indicated that he wanted to deport violent criminals, even to dangerous countries such as Syria and Afghanistan. “Such criminals should be deported – even if they come from Syria and Afghanistan,” Scholz told the Bundestag or lower house of parliament.

There is currently a ban on deporting migrants back to Afghanistan since the Taliban took back control of the country back in 2021.

The greatest collegiate player in history, who broke nearly every men’s and women’s basketball scoring and assist records while at the University of Iowa, was excluded from the Olympic team.

Pot-smoking Brittney Griner, who has only played in one game and scored 11 points this year, made the team.

As previously reported, a federal jury in the Northern District of Georgia has convicted a Georgia attorney and former City of Atlanta police officer of fraudulently obtaining approximately $15 million in loans under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The former Atlanta prosecutor used the Covid money to fund a lavish lifestyle, which included the purchase of a Rolls-Royce and a 10-carat diamond ring for $148,000, as well as significant money transfers to her relatives and accomplice.

Shelitha Robertson, 62, of Atlanta was found guilty of multiple counts of fraud, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud itself, and money laundering in December.

Robertson on Friday was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Steven D. Grimberg to seven years, three months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.

“Shelitha Robertson, who formerly served as an Assistant City Attorney and police officer for the City of Atlanta, has been sentenced for fraudulently obtaining approximately $15 million in loans under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a federal stimulus program authorized as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act,” the US Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Georgia announced.

A new CBS News/YouGov poll released on Sunday found that 62% of Americans support a national program to deport all of Joe Biden’s millions of illegal aliens.

Earlier today CBS polling expert Anthony Salvanto broke the news to Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation that 62% of Americans want all illegal aliens rounded up and deported.

Anthony Salvanto: “We tested that in a general way in principle. Would you support a new government program that would deport all people living in the U.S. illegally? And that finds majority favor. That finds six in 10. It’s strongest among folks who are MAGA. It’s strongest among Trump supporters, but also from some Democrats as well.”

The news stunned the far left CBS host.

U.S. policy towards the war in Ukraine is to escalate rather than work to calm tensions, if activity on Capitol Hill is any indication.

In late May, Politico reported that the Biden administration had quietly given Ukraine the authority to conduct limited strikes in Russia using U.S. weapons. It was a stunning shift in administration policy that underscored the dire battlefield conditions in Kyiv and risked a serious escalation in the war, according to the administration’s own thinking.

In response to the news, lawmakers have introduced two competing amendments to this year’s National Defense Authorization Act. One, introduced by Rep. Thomas Kean (R-N.J) “[s]tates that it is the policy of the United States to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s ability to strike legitimate targets inside Russia with U.S.-provided weapons.”

What exactly “legitimate targets” means is not specified in the legislative text. According to last week’s reporting, the White House had only greenlit strikes near the area of Kharkiv, in the country’s northeast.
