Thought for the day

"I have come to the conclusion that politics is too serious a matter to be left to the politicians." -- Charles de Gaulle, French general & president

Maloney is in the unique position of representing a district that Donald Trump won in 2016. He had a whole lot to say about Democrats’ approach to relating to voters:

“So for example, Democrats could be much more intentional about our work in rural areas, with veterans, with farmers, with people in communities that have not benefited from the global economy. I think that most of the voters that we ask about this think that we’re out of touch, they think we’re elitist, we think we are better than they are. And they don’t like it.”

Then, in a statement that tells you everything you need to know about the New York Times Editorial Board, Healy fired back, “What’s a Democratic phrase that doesn’t sound human? Like a talking point? Or when you say, we don’t sound human, what does that mean?”

Maloney seemed to have been caught a bit off guard and replied, “I mean, listen, I don’t know — anything that comes out of Chris Hayes’ mouth.”

Minnesota and North Dakota have made the list of enacting the craziest rules in public education in the name of our favorite three-letter acronym: DEI. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are making a comeback this school year, so you would be wrong for those hoping it was just a fad or a phase.

My home state of Minnesota has been a hub for bizarre antics over the last two years, spurred by the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. On the other hand, North Dakota generally flew under the radar as the Dakota that wasn’t South Dakota.

But thanks to DEI nonsense, the ‘other’ Dakota is on the progressive map of ridiculousness; congratulations, North Dakota! So let’s look at what these states have done.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy suggests Representative Liz Cheney’s projected defeat in her GOP primary for Wyoming’s at-large House seat Tuesday will be a “referendum” on the January 6 committee she serves as Vice Chair.

“I don’t think that she’s going to win,” McCarthy said in an interview with Fox News. “I think it’s going to be a referendum on the Jan. 6 committee.”

Confronted with Cheney’s conservative voting record, the potential next Speaker of the House pointed out that her focus has pivoted sharply into an all-out obsession with former President Donald Trump.

American voters are increasingly displeased with the policies of President Joe Biden and Democrats on Capitol Hill, which seems to be setting the stage for Republicans to regain control of Congress after the upcoming midterm elections.

If that happens, one senior GOP lawmaker recently signaled his intention to “get to the bottom” of the FBI’s recent raid of former President Donald Trump’s private residence in Florida.

Specifically, Senate Judiciary Committee ranking GOP member Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said that as chairman of the panel he believes it is his “constitutional responsibility” to determine whether Attorney General Merrick Garland acted appropriately in approving the unannounced search of Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate.

He noted that lawmakers have received “a great deal of runaround from the Justice Department” regardless of who is in the White House, alleging that sources within the agency have told him that officials will try to stymie any congressional investigations that might arise in response to the FBI raid.

In its latest report on this new spending bill, CBS said it “may not” be able to drive down inflation rates. CBS cited a study from the Penn Wharton Budget Model which states it’s not possible to distinguish from zero the impact the Inflation Reduction Act would have on high consumer costs.

Naturally, this isn’t news to many Americans. Republicans have been saying for quite some time now that this bill which relies on federal spending and taxation won’t actually lower inflation.

Although many health care experts and elected officials pushed for vaccine mandates in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, a wide range of Americans were opposed to such requirements — and many lost their jobs for refusing to comply.

Now, hundreds of hospital employees in Illinois, including many who have since resigned or been fired, will share an eight-figure settlement following a lawsuit filed just under a year ago.

All parties agreed to the $10.3 million settlement late last month and more than 500 current and employees from more than a dozen NorthShore University HealthSystems locations were named as litigants. The health care workers said that the hospital system did not provide religious exemptions to the vaccine mandate.

Planned Parenthood has been on the front lines of aborting unborn babies for decades, and the overturning of Roe v. Wade simply means a different business approach for the industry.

According to a new report from the American Life League, Planned Parenthood has shifted its growth towards abortion pills dramatically since 2005.

On June 8, 1967, Israeli forces tried to sink a U.S. Navy ship, the USS Liberty, killing 34 American servicemen and wounding 174.

According to former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer, “In attacking the USS Liberty, Israel committed acts of murder against American servicemen and an act of war against the United States…. Those men were then betrayed and left to die by our own government.”

The survivors are still awaiting justice while the US continues to give Israel over $10 million per day of Americans’ tax money.

The Liberty crew is one of the most decorated in U.S. Naval history. Yet, for decades this attack has been covered up and misrepresented. Justice for Liberty, filmed at the crew’s 54th anniversary reunion in Pensacola, Florida, allows these men to tell the American public their stories, some for the first time. It is time for the truth to come out.

Kerry's office has scooped up individuals who have had past leadership positions at gatherings like the United Nations Foundation, World Resources Institute, International Monetary Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council and many different major global or green organizations, according to a Fox News Digital review. The organizations have largely characterized global warming as the "climate crisis" and have pushed for a rapid global transition away from fossil fuel reliance.

"It's not surprising — it's essentially the same old gang," Myron Ebell, the director of the Competitive Enterprise Institute's Center for Energy and Environment, explained to Fox News Digital in an interview. "These are the people who have been working on and failing on these issues for decades."

The Movement for Black Lives, a coalition of over 50 groups, including the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, issued a blog post Thursday commemorating Black August, a controversial prison-based holiday established in the 1960s by the Black Guerrilla Family.

"This week, in partnership with our comrades at [Malcolm X Grassroots Movement], we're highlighting five current Black political prisoners to raise awareness and support for these warriors," the post declares. "We're calling on you to sign petitions, write letters, donate, and spread the word, as we advocate for the release of all prisoners and the abolition of the prison industrial complex."

Britain recorded its biggest rise in foreign workers since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the year to June, driven overwhelmingly by workers from outside the European Union, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Since January 2021, most EU citizens not already working in Britain must be sponsored by an employer and be paid a salary that does not significantly undercut existing wages, after losing their previous almost-unrestricted right to work.

The post-Brexit change puts EU migrants on the same footing as those from the rest of the world, but has drawn complaints from employers who find the process bureaucratic, and a non-starter for most jobs that pay less than 25,600 pounds ($30,760) a year.

Tuesday's Office for National Statistics data showed the number of foreign-born workers in Britain rose by 223,000 in the year to the end of June, up from an increase of 184,000 in the year to March and the biggest rise since early 2020.

President Biden and his administration are supposed to launch a nationwide tour in the following weeks to shore up its standing with voters, and promote its recent legislative wins, as Democrats face an uphill battle with three months until the November midterm elections.

According to the White House, Biden intends to rally support across the nation by touting recent policy and political successes, including the passage of a massive social spending and taxation bill officially known as the Inflation Reduction Act. The tour may also serve as an attempt to assist in staving off historical trends that could see Republicans getting more control of the House of Representatives and potentially the Senate.

Fourteen FBI whistleblowers have come forward to provide information to Republican congressional investigations, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said on Aug. 14, about a week after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s Florida home.

“Fourteen FBI agents have come to our office as whistleblowers, and they are good people,” Jordan told Fox News. “There are lots of good people in the FBI. It’s the top that is the problem.”

Some of these good agents are coming to us, telling us … what’s going on—the political nature now of the Justice Department … talking about the school board issue, about a whole host of issues,” he added.

Two months ago, Jordan said that six FBI whistleblowers approached the committee. Two came forward about a memo related to alleged violence and intimidation at school board meetings and four in connection to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach. In the Senate, meanwhile, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in July that whistleblowers had come to his office to provide information, including disclosures relating to investigations into Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings.

It’s becoming a well-worn trail of agents who say this has got to stop, and thank goodness for them and that American people recognize it, and I believe they’re going to make a big change on Nov. 8,” Jordan said, referring to the midterm elections.

In June, Jordan sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray warning that several former FBI officials were coming forward, while alleging the agency is “purging” employees who have conservative views.

In one such example, the FBI targeted and suspended the security clearance of a retired war servicemember who had disclosed personal views that the FBI was not being entirely forthcoming about the events of January 6,” Jordan wrote in a statement. “The FBI questioned the whistleblower’s allegiance to the United States despite the fact that the whistleblower honorably served in the United States military for several years—including deployments in Kuwait and Iraq—valiantly earning multiple military commendation medals.”

RINO Liz Cheney was defeated in the Wyoming Primary by huge numbers.  A Trump America First candidate, Harriet Hageman born and raised in Wyoming kicked Cheney's ass.  But this wasn't just a repudiation of Trump Hater Cheney, it was the end of the Bush Cheney era.  What Establishment Republicans just don't seem to understand is that Trump owns the Republican Party; but it is really Trump's America First policies that resonate with the base of the party not just Trump himself.

Liz Cheney forgot that her job was to represent the people of Wyoming instead of focusing on her hatred of President Trump.  What is really laughable in her sort of concession speech, Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln as though now her job is to run for President to save the Republican Party from its voters.  Laughable!!  Country Club Republicans who have been feeding at the trough for decades are over.  We are sick and tired of their endless wars and betrayal of the American people in the name of the Deep State, foreign countries and the military industrial complex.

Liz Cheney lives in Virginia and has for decades.  She is not really from Wyoming.  In the process of her campaign, Cheney raised $15 million primarily from out of state donors.  She spent about $7 million of this money on her campaign because she knows that when she leave office in January, she can walk away with the difference.  That is just how it works and the game is played in the DC Swamp.

The modus operandi of the West’s “elites” is that it’s not the truth that matters but successfully managing the hypocrisy so that it doesn’t appear too painfully obvious.

Soon after Nancy Pelosi’s recent descent on Taiwan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called out Nicholas Burns, the U.S. ambassador to China, for “keeping an embarrassed silence” regarding Madame Speaker’s “brash and insolent stunt.” Burns’ silence was quite a change from a mere month back at the World Peace Forum in Beijing, where he “demanded that China stop supporting the war in Ukraine or relaying ‘Russian propaganda’.” Even more brazenly, Burns used that opportunity to flatly accuse the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson of “telling lies about American bioweapons labs, which do not exist in Ukraine.”

But that was then and this is now in the West’s “rules-based order,” where each occasion requires a new set of rules. Thus, it goes without saying that, for the time being, Burns is also keeping an “embarrassed silence” about another potentially tectonic event – the latest, even more damning evidence of the work of U.S.-run biolabs in Ukraine offered by the Russian Defense Ministry on August 4, including involvement in the Covid-19 pandemic, highly suspicious U.S.-funded research of the monkeypox, West Nile fever and African swine fever pathogens, and even U.S. involvement in the death of ex-Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.

Trump is merely a messenger attempting to wake us to an evil that threatens to destroy everything good and decent in the world, Robert Bridge writes.

Let’s begin this brief foray into futility by putting aside our tortured feelings over Donald Trump and admitting one thing: the FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago proves that the establishment has the power to crush with impunity any person – even former/future presidents – who threatens the globalist agenda. This has implications not just for Americans, but for every person on this unholy planet.

Facing the grim prospect of imminent defeat in the upcoming midterm elections, the cunning Democrats are doing what they do best, which is, first, to cheat like hell. Second, to unleash all the tools of oppression at their disposal against their political enemies, namely Donald Trump, the DC outsider who once promised to ‘drain the swamp.’

Why haven’t Russian troops more forcefully attacked Dnipro, the Ukrainian city that is a spiritual center of the Chabad Hasidic Orthodox movement? According to one provocative Ukrainian Jewish oligarch, the answer is an ancient Kabbalistic curse against Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

Hennady Korban, who was stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship last month, told NV, a Ukrainian broadcaster, that he had initiated the curse, known as Pulsa Denura, against Putin — and that the Russian leader knew he had done so.

The Pulsa Denura is “a procedure in which you have to warn officially the enemy or person on whom you want to perform it, so that they know that such a procedure is being initiated against them. I warned Putin. Let him think further and draw conclusions,” Korban told NV in an interview that aired on August 11.

North Korea’s offer to send 100,000 peace workers to Eastern Ukraine is as much a game changer as was the appearance of the Red Army’s Siberian Divisions during the 1941-2 Battle of Moscow.

North Korea’s offer to send 100,000 peace workers to Eastern Ukraine is as much a game changer as was the appearance of the Red Army’s Siberian Divisions during the 1941-2 Battle of Moscow when Hitler’s exhausted Wehrmacht seemed on the verge of victory. Irrespective of whether Russia takes them up on the offer or not, because North Korea’s offer to trade their brawn for oil and grain has changed the status quo not only in Ukraine but in Syria, Iran and all other front line states as well, their offer is worth studying in more detail than that Newsweek and other discredited NATO outlets gave it.

In doing some basic math, let’s treat this proposal like the path breaking 1981 win-win swap between IBM and the World Bank. We have, thus, two key sides to this transaction, North Korea, which has an impressive work force to offer in exchange for scarce resources Russia, thanks to NATO’s criminal sanctions, has in abundance. Working at a price of $100 for a mixed basket of oil and grain, we see that Russia would be contracted to supply 100,000 baskets per stipulated time period when the North Korea work force reaches its full complement in Donbas, Damascus or wherever else they are deployed.

Transgender people are legally protected from discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to a ruling from a federal court of appeals on Tuesday.

Judges initially ruled gender dysphoria does not qualify as a disability under the ADA after the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office in Virginia argued it is "an identity disorder not resulting from physical impairments," according to court filings. However, the appeals court reversed that ruling in its Tuesday decision.

"Reflecting this shift in medical understanding, we and other courts have thus explained that a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, unlike that of ‘gender identity disorder,' concerns itself primarily with distress and other disabling symptoms, rather than simply being transgender," wrote Judge Diana Gribbon Motz in her opinion.

Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the U.S., has made national headlines recently due to its rapidly declining water levels.

The reservoir across Nevada and Arizona is formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, and provides electricity for hundreds of thousands of people living across the area. Due to the ongoing drought in the western United States, it has been hurtling towards dead pool level—which could be catastrophic.

However, its water levels have now risen for the first time in three years.

On July 27, the lake's water levels were at 1,040.71 feet—the lowest they have been since the 1930s, not long after it was first created. The area was then hit by the wettest monsoon season the Las Vegas Valley has seen in a decade.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has announced that men without military experience will be banned from leaving the country as long as martial law is in effect. The statement was posted on the president’s website on Monday in response to a petition urging that men between the ages 18 and 60 be allowed to travel abroad.

The petition, which was signed by over 27,000 people, says many Ukrainian men are unfit for military service but could be useful in other fields. The author argued that if these people were allowed to work abroad, they could help refugees and send back money to aid the military, which, the text says, already has enough capable people.

“Fighting should be fought by able-bodied people. We have many IT, social, creative, technical, and other specialists who can fight on the information front and be more useful working abroad, helping our refugees and supporting the army with earned funds,” the petition reads.

The Wall Street Journal’s allegations of Russia stealing electricity from the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant expose its failure to see the cause-effect relationships, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry pointed to a Wall Street Journal article, which alleged, citing analysts, that Moscow was trying "to reroute power to occupied territories, Russia and even export markets, where the price of electricity is surging."

"The wild conclusion is that such ‘expropriation’ on the part of Russia will additionally destabilize energy markets. Just a quick look at the article is enough to understand the authors’ complete failure to see the cause-effect relationships," the statement reads.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that it was Kiev that kept shelling the power plant area, putting the entire European continent at risk of a nuclear disaster. "The conclusion is clear: by destroying energy infrastructure, the Kiev regime is putting millions of European residents at risk of a nuclear disaster with the connivance of Washington. But the Wall Street Journal, based thousands of kilometers from the region at risk, clearly has no interest in that," the statement added.

Amnesty International claimed that, people who crossed from Belarus to Lithuania subjected to beatings, abuse and racism. In the 65-page report, the organization revealed refugees and migrants have been held for months on end in squalid, prison-like centers in Lithuania. Refugees and migrants were being denied access to fair asylum procedures, so that they “voluntarily” return to the countries from which they have fled. Detainers sometimes engaged in protests, caused by frustration at being arbitrarily detained and subjected to appalling detention conditions. Refugees recounted how guards and police reacted to such demonstrations by beating them with batons, and by using pepper spray and taser guns.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the government will investigate claims former prime minister Scott Morrison secretly gave himself powers to jointly run the health, finance and resources ministries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key points:

  • Scott Morrison secretly took joint charge of several portfolios during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Cabinet ministers were kept in the dark about the power grab
  • The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has referred the issue to the solicitor-general

Mr Albanese says the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet is seeking legal advice from the solicitor-general.

Governor-General David Hurley confirmed he secretly signed instruments to allow Mr Morrison to administer other portfolios, "consistent with section 64 of the constitution".

The ABC understands then-health minister Greg Hunt agreed to Mr Morrison's joint position as a safeguard to incapacitation from COVID-19, but that Matthias Cormann was not told that Mr Morrison had appointed himself as joint finance minister.

Translation: MOSCOW, August 16 - RIA Novosti. Western curators have practically written off the Kyiv regime and are already planning the partition of Ukraine, Foreign Intelligence Service spokesman Colonel-General Vladimir Matveev said at the Moscow Conference on International Security. “Obviously, the West is not concerned about the fate of the Kyiv regime. As can be seen from the information received by the SVR, Western curators have almost written it off and are in full swing developing plans for the division and occupation of at least part of the Ukrainian lands,” he said. However, according to the general, much more is at stake than Ukraine: for Washington and its allies, it is about the fate of the colonial system of world domination.

Among many things Matveev articulated, one stands out especially and this is about US detachment from reality and dogmatic approach to its, now former, colonial possessions, which today are reduced to Europe. That explains the cognitive dissonance in the US which increasingly creates chaos in desperate attempts to preserve already lost global dominance. As Matveev says (in Russian) such an approach is risible but also--dangerous. As he underscored:"The West is getting weaker, it stumbles but still thinks itself as mighty...", which is absolutely true when one looks not only at what the combined West does but also who is at the helm. So, a very interesting set of statements from SVR.

China’s state-run Global Times propaganda newspaper praised the government of Hungary under self-proclaimed conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Monday for greenlighting the construction of a Chinese electric vehicle battery factory and being “rational and pragmatic” in maintaining friendly relations with the Chinese Communist Party.

Under Orbán, who strives to maintain close ties to the American right-wing community, Hungary has greatly expanded the Chinese Communist Party’s economic and cultural presence in the country. Orbán made Hungary the first European leader to join China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a global infrastructure debt trap scheme in which China offers participating countries predatory loans later used to erode their sovereignty. Hungary has allowed China to operate its “Confucius Institutes,” academic institutions used to spread communism, on its soil, and more recently emphasized that it supported the “One China principle” – the false idea that the nation of Taiwan is a province of communist China.

China’s government-owned Xinhua News Agency reported last week that Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó confirmed the plan to build the electric vehicle battery plant.
