"If you want the victims of gun crime to be able to sue the gun makers for damages, then let us also allow the victims of drunk driving accidents to sue the car makers and distilleries as well. While we are at it, revoke the special protection granted to vaccine makers that was passed as part of the Homeland Security Act so that people who are actually harmed by poorly made vaccines can sue the pharmaceutical companies. And, given that at least 90% of these mass shootings were committed by people either on or withdrawing from prescription anti-depressants, the victims of those shootings should be allowed to sue the pharmaceutical companies as well. Let's sue the makers of kitchen cutlery for every stabbing death. Let's sue the makers of sporting equipment for every victim beaten to death with a baseball bat, and tool companies for making the hammers used on bludgeoning deaths as well. The family of everyone who dies by electrocution should be allowed to sue the electric company. The family of everyone who dies in a fall should be allowed to sue the makers of ladders and staircases. The family of everyone who commits suicide by hanging should be allowed to sue the rope companies. " -- Michael Rivero

Take a moment to think about those on the political left. On his HBO show “Real Time,” Bill Maher expressed his dismay at the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump but also pointed out that others have been metaphorically hurt as well.

“I unequivocally denounce [the shooting], I don’t care what you think about that. Not funny. I’m sure that there will be jokes that people will make because they hate him so much that they wished it went the other way. Not for me,” Maher started.

Maher went on to suggest that while Trump may prevail politically, he also highlighted the cost to his hard-left opponents, who saw their assumed “high moral ground” pulled out from under their saintly feet.

Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) on Tuesday predicted former President Trump will win the 2024 election in November and said he is "OK with that."

Why it matters: Golden's prediction adds to a growing deluge of congressional Democrats opening up about their lack of confidence in President Biden to carry the Democratic ticket to victory.

Crabtree said that Secret Service resources were diverted away from Trump's rally to Jill Biden's Pittsburgh event at the same time. She said this was done because of "agency protocol applying to Trump as a former president," according to two of her sources within the Secret Service community.

What the heck? So what they're saying is that because they were treating Trump just as a former president, not necessarily the current candidate with a lot of threats against him, Jill Biden was given priority over him.

That wasn't all. Additionally, Crabtree explained from another source in the Secret Service community there were problems because the team had a lot of replacements.

In a stunning move, former President Donald Trump’s confidential documents case was tossed out by a federal judge in Florida on Monday — eliminating one of his biggest legal liabilities just 113 days before the Nov. 5 election.

Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case against the Republican presidential candidate, which was widely viewed as the most serious of four criminal cases he faces, on the grounds that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith to the case violated the Constitution.

“I am thrilled that a judge had the courage and wisdom to do this. This has big, big implications not just for this case but for other cases,” Trump told Fox News in an interview moments after the ruling.

“The special counsel worked with everybody to try to take me down. This is a big, big deal. It only makes the convention more positive — this will be an amazing week.”

Trump, 78, faced up to 450 years in prison if convicted on all counts in the case.

Business Insider reported that NATO had never faced an adversary of Russia’s calibre after World War II, and it would have been difficult for the alliance to establish air superiority over Russian forces. The warning comes as experts have explained the sombre reality that the F-16 fighter jets, a key aircraft in many NATO air force fleets, provided to Kiev will not be a “magic bullet” that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Western allies expect them to be.

“Russia could challenge NATO’s historical air dominance,” reported the media on July 13 after explaining that this is a change from the scenario that emerged after the Cold War when the West had a clear advantage. “Russia would be a very different opponent. It has the territory and industry to build and field massive and sophisticated air defenses that an opponent may struggle to destroy.”

“The US and its allies, even with fleets of fifth-generation stealth fighter jets, likely would find it difficult to establish the same level of air dominance they’ve largely had since the end of World War II,” the New York-based outlet said.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, an appointee of Trump, is a major victory for the former president, who faced dozens of felony charges accusing him of mishandling classified documents and hampering the federal government's efforts to retrieve them. Trump pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing.

The federal judge overseeing the case alleging former President Donald Trump mishandled sensitive government documents after leaving the White House has dismissed the charges against him and his two codefendants.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon said in a 93-page order that she has granted Trump's bid to dismiss the indictment based on the unlawful funding and appointment of special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the charges against the former president.

The former president faced 40 charges stemming from his handling of documents marked classified after leaving office and allegedly obstructing the Justice Department's investigation.

The dismissal of the case caps a stunning weekend for the former president, who was the target of an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Trump said a bullet grazed his ear while he was addressing the crowd of his supporters. The gunman, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service.

The fact that former President Donald Trump suffered a gunshot wound at the hands of a would-be assassin prompted a Forbes contributor to speculate whether that would make the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee more appealing to black voters.

Forbes scrambled to delete the opinion article titled, Will Surviving Gunfire Be Donald Trump’s Next Appeal To Black Voters?, which was written by Shaun Harper, a professor at USC’s Rossier School of Education, who bills himself as a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) “expert.”
