In an interview with the BBC, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed that Ukraine will ultimately have to compromise in some way with Russia to end the war.

He explained that however, the West must support Ukraine in the long term “even if we believe and hope that the war will end in the near future” and invest in its defense capabilities in case of future hostilities.

He also claimed that Ukraine would set its own conditions to seek peace with Russia.

“At the end of the day, it has to be Ukraine that decides what kind of compromises they’re willing to do,” he said, noting that it is the responsibility of the West to help it reach a negotiating position for an “acceptable result.”

Eighteen students at Pomona College in Claremont, California, were arrested on Friday and charged with misdemeanor trespassing, and one student was arrested for obstruction of justice, according to the Claremont police department, during a protest in response to the removal of pro-Palestinian art on the college campus.

Students criticized the heavy police response to the protest, as police from Claremont, Pomona, Azusa and La Verne responded to the scene in riot gear.

Over the past months, the Zionist project has been waging a merciless genocide in Gaza, with the mass murder of over 40,000 Palestinians, the injury of more than 70,000, and the mass displacement of over 2,000,000. In the midst of their operations, Israeli Occupation Forces have leveled the surrounding areas, destroying homes, hospitals, mosques, churches, and orchards. Palestinians who have survived the bombings and invasion are suffering the brutal effects of a famine manufactured by Israeli policy, alongside the mass restriction of water, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid at the hands of Israeli officials and opportunistic settlers.

Only miles away in the West Bank, Palestinians have been rounded up in the thousands, taken hostage, and thrown in Israeli prisons as Israeli Occupation Forces have led regular raids into refugee camps like the one in Jenin. All the while, Zionist colonial efforts have intensified, with the project announcing the land theft of 10 square kilometers, the largest West Bank land seizure since 1993. When combined with the abuses faced regularly by Palestinians in the 1948 territories and the active apartheid structures the project continues to maintain across historic Palestine, it is clear that no place is safe for Palestinians facing the brute force of Zionist colonialism — and Zionist efforts are continuing to intensify.

This is far from the first time Israeli occupation forces have terrorized Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, but the scale of destruction is truly unique, as is the average person’s access to first-hand reporting and imagery on the ground — both from Palestinians enduring the genocide and Israeli soldiers gleefully posting their atrocities. This has led to a hardening of opposition to the project’s actions, and for many, the very core assumptions of the project’s traditionally accepted right to “self-defense,” and even its right to exist at all.

If you're curious about effective legal immigration measures, here's a good example: Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, has extended an offer of 5,000 free passports for highly skilled professionals. This announcement was made on X on Saturday evening:

We're offering 5,000 free passports (equivalent to $5 billion in our passport program) to highly skilled scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers from abroad.

This represents less than 0.1% of our population, so granting them full citizen status, including voting rights, poses no issue.

Despite the small number, their contributions will have a huge impact on our society and the future of our country.

Plus, we will facilitate their relocation by ensuring 0% taxes and tariffs on moving families and assets. This includes commercial value items like equipment, software, and intellectual property.

Claire's Observations; THIS, is an intelligent immigration policy writ large, and President Bukele, and his team, should be commended for this.

And how have the By-di-Bidians handled US immigration?!?  By flooding our southern border with illegal aliens, many of whom couldn't make it in their countries of origins.  If they are disease-ridden, with illnesses the US hasn't seen in decades; if they illiterate; innumerate; illogical; if they are criminals running drugs (and BTW, the estimated earnings of the Mexican cartels for 2023 starts at an estimated $6 billion dollars in 2023), that's PERFECTLY FINE!!  COME ON DOWN!!

And what is all this costing the American taxpayer?!?  The Senate  House Committee on Homeland  shared the following report:

November 16, 2023

“Taxpayers have to front nearly half a trillion dollars each year because the Biden administration is not stopping migrants at the southern border”

WASHINGTON, D.C.—This week, the House Committee on Homeland Security majority, led by Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN), released a shocking new interim report as part of its ongoing, comprehensive oversight investigation into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and President Joe Biden’s reckless open-borders policies that have facilitated in the worst border crisis in American history. This report details the immense financial costs of the unprecedented border crisis being borne by American taxpayers, including the costs for health care, shelter, education, and law enforcement, as well as costs forced on private property owners and businesses. According to one estimate, housing and other services just to those who have been released into the United States on Mayorkas’ watch, or entered as known gotaways, could exceed $451 billion."

$451 billion?!?  Folks, I'm gobsmacked.  And a quick Google search, on FederalDeficitTracker.org, reveals the following:

"The federal government ran a deficit of $296 billion in February 2024 — $34 billion more than the deficit of $262 billion that was recorded in February 2023."

So, if the above number is anywhere close to accurate, where, please, is that $451 billion to take care of illegal aliens, coming from?!?  I have not a clue;   but the huge problem here is, neither does the current Federal Government!!!!

Conservative firm America First Legal (AFL) announced on Thursday a new lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s Department of Defense.

It alleged the agency suppressed records concerning the Obama-founded Presidential Information Technology Committee (PITC) and former President Donald Trump. The committee was established to enhance information systems and information resources available to the president.

In its filing, AFL lawyers declared that the committee held documents it sought under the Freedom of Information Act. These materials “could exonerate” former President Trump in the ongoing federal case involving classified materials.

A cattle rancher is raising the alarm after the federal government started bulldozing undamaged Texas farms following the recent wildfires.

In a video message, the rancher, whose identity is not being published, warned that the feds are destroying remaining farms under the guise of clearing damaged lands after the fires.

He warns that “over a million acres of farmland” was “burned and ruined” during the Panhandle wildfires.

However, the rancher is alerting the public that the government is now “ruining the remaining feed and grasses” that were not harmed by the fires.

In a counter to an effort by some House Republicans to rename the Washington Dulles Airport after former President Donald Trump, a group of Democrats have introduced a bill that will put Trump’s name in a federal prison instead.

In a legislation introduced by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA), and Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) on Friday, the lawmakers sought to change the name of the Miami Federal Correctional Institution to “Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.”

“When our Republican colleagues introduced their bill to rename Dulles after Donald Trump, I said the more fitting option would be to rename a federal prison,’ Connolly wrote in a press release.

Nebraska lawmakers on Friday failed to move forward with a legislation that would have banned transgender athletes from competing on school sports teams of the opposite gender. In addition to designation athletic participation based on birth-assigned gender, Legislative Bill 575, also known as the Sports and Spaces Act, also sought to require all students to use the bathroom consistent with their biological gender.

Palestinian athletes have taken part in every Summer Olympics since they were first admitted to the Atlanta Games in 1996. Each participation has carried a special significance for residents of the Palestinian Territories and the Palestinian diaspora, giving the stateless people a venue in which to compete with the rest of the world.

Taking part in Paris will be all the more significant in the context of the war that has devastated most of the Gaza Strip and killed at least 33,000 people, according to health officials in the Hamas-held enclave, including some of the athletes who had set their sights on the Olympic Games this summer.

“Between athletes, coaches and club staff, the Palestinian sports scene has lost at least 170 people,” said Jayousi, speaking from the headquarters of the Palestine Olympic Committee near Jerusalem. Victims included Olympic football team coach Hani Al-Masdar and volleyball star Ibrahim Qusaya, both of them killed by Israeli bombs in Gaza.

As has been the case for the past several months, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby took to the podium for a press conference on Tuesday and got into a heated exchange with a reporter.

This time, the back-and-forth was regarding whether or not Israel's targeting of an international aid convoy violated international law.

“Some of my friends are more paranoid — they never go out,” he says.

Artem has the air of a fugitive, with his baseball cap pulled down firmly and shielding his eyes even on an overcast day. Before entering the coffee house in downtown Kyiv to meet with POLITICO he gazes up and down the street, and once seated talks in a low voice so as not to be overheard.

A doctor at an Israeli field hospital inside a notorious detention center where hundreds of Palestinian prisoners are temporarily held is sounding the alarm about torture and horrific conditions at what some human rights defenders – including Israelis – are calling “Israel’s Guantánamo Bay” and even a “concentration camp.”

In a letter to Israel’s attorney general and defense and health ministers viewed by Haaretz – which reported the story Thursday – the anonymous physician describes likely war crimes being committed at the Israel Defense Forces’ Sde Teiman base near Beersheva. Palestinian militants captured by IDF troops, as well as many civilian hostages ranging in age from teenagers to septuagenarians, are held there in cages, 70-100 per cage, until they are transferred to regular Israeli prisons or released.

Israeli MK Nissim Vaturi, a representative in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling Likud party, issued a not-so-veiled threat on Saturday suggesting that if America doesn't supply Israel with weapons aid then Israel will use nuclear weapons.

"In the event of a conflict with Iran, if we do not receive American ammunition - we will have to use everything we have..." Vaturi ominously said.

Israel assassinated a high-ranking Iranian Brigadier General and 15 others in an airstrike on an Iranian embassy building in Syria on April 1 and Iran has pledged to retaliate.

Vaturi's statement is being interpreted by many as a threat to use nukes against Iran or potentially even exercise the Samson Option (Israel's plan to fire off all their nukes and initiate a global nuclear holocaust in the case that their existence is threatened).

Up to 600,000 Palestinian children are facing hunger in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, where over 1.5 million displaced Gazans are seeking refuge, UNICEF warned on Friday,

The children and their families are also faced with the daily threat of Israeli attack, with Israeli forces bombing the city many times throughout their indiscriminate military campaign, killing scores of Palestinians.

Rafah, despite being earlier designated as part of a "safe zone" by Israel, has been threatened with a ground invasion by the Israeli army amid international warnings against such a move.

Families and their children are suffering dire conditions there, due to overcrowding. They live in flimsy tents and have little or no access to clean water and showering facilities

Sunday is the six-month anniversary, and it seems this won't be the war's last six-month milestone; no one in Israel has any idea how to end the worst war in its history, whose costs are piling up at an alarming rate and whose benefits are negligible, nonexistent in fact. That is why we must muster the courage to say, after six months of calamities, that it would have been better had it not broken out.

No, no. Israel did have a choice: don't go to war. If these are its results, it would have been better to show restraint, to punish those who should have been punished for the horrors of October 7 and move on.

Historically, wars unite Israelis. Not anymore.

Not that Israelis do not agree with Benjamin Netanyahu’s war; they simply do not believe that the prime minister is the man who could win this supposedly existential fight.

But Netanyahu’s war remains unwinnable simply because liberation wars, often conducted through guerrilla warfare tactics, are far more complicated than traditional combat. Nearly six months after the Israeli attack on Gaza, it has become clear that Palestinian Resistance groups are durable and well-prepared for a much longer fight.

Netanyahu, supported by far-right ministers and an equally hardline Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, insists that more firepower is the answer. Though the unprecedented amount of explosives, used by Israel in Gaza, killed and wounded over 100,000 Palestinians, an Israeli victory, however it is defined, remains elusive.

So, what do Israelis want and, more precisely, what is their prime minister’s end-game in Gaza, anyway?

On Saturday night, the last Israeli soldiers left Khan Yunis. After four months, the military operation in this city, the army's second largest since the war began, has ended. Thus, the four soldiers from the Commando Brigade who fell in a clash with armed men on Saturday afternoon were the last Israeli casualties in this phase of the fighting.

Effectively, the Israel Defense Forces no longer has any ground troops in the southern Gaza Strip. One brigade combat team remains in the corridor that severs northern Gaza from southern Gaza. A few other brigades are stationed just outside Gaza and will enter as needed.

The Iranian government is apparently seeking to capitalize on the Israeli public and leadership being on edge due to continuing fears that an Iranian retaliation attack is imminent after last week's Israeli airstrike on Iran's embassy complex in Damascus.

An adviser to Iran’s supreme leader on Sunday has threatened to attack Iran's embassies, or at least strongly suggested it could happen. "The embassies of the Zionist regime are no longer safe," Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said according to ISNA news agency.

He added that the Islamic Republic views confrontation with Israel as a "legitimate and legal right" given that Israel has just escalated through an unprecedented attack on a sovereign country's diplomatic facilities.

Iranian state media in conveying Safavi's words also featured graphics showing nine types of Iranian missiles that possess ranges capable of hitting Israel (see below).
