Russia’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday that more than 100,000 people have signed up to fight as contract soldiers in the war against Ukraine so far this year.

“Over the past week and a half, recruitment points have seen a significant increase in the number of people interested in signing contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry in order to take part in the special military operation,” the ministry said in a statement, using the Kremlin’s preferred term for its full-scale invasion.

It added that “around 16,000 citizens” had signed military contracts over the past 10 days alone, with “most candidates” saying they were motivated to “avenge those killed” in the Crocus City Hall attack late last month.

Each day the Russian Ministry of Defense reports the observed losses of the Ukrainian army. While the reported numbers are unlikely to be exact the reports are considered to be reliable and do tell a story.

In the first year of the war the Ukrainian army often lost more armored vehicles per day than general vehicles, i.e. trucks. By mid 2023 the numbers of armored vehicle and trucks destroyed per day, as reported by the MoD, were about equal. By the end of 2023 that ratio was on average two trucks per one armored vehicle. It has since increased further. Yesterday's report claimed 32 destroyed Ukrainian trucks but only 4 destroyed armored vehicles.

The numbers provide that the armed forces of Ukraine, as well as its allies, have run out of armored vehicles of all kinds.

A mechanized brigade is supposed to have some 100 armored (i.e. 'mechanized') vehicles of various kind plus some 30 tanks. An infantry brigade has, if its lucky, some unarmored trucks or buses.

Scotland’s fascist “hate crime” went into effect earlier this week as the country’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf, seeks to crack down on free speech and opposition to his leftist agenda.

However, Yousaf’s big idea did not appear to go to plan after Scots flooded the tip line with reports about a speech he gave back in 2020 when he chastised white people.

The Federal Reserve is one of, if not the most, significant institutions in the world given the global impact of its policy decisions.

It influences the price of nearly everything, as well as the availability of jobs, the stability of our banking system, and the purchasing power of our money.

When the Fed Chair speaks, the entire world stops to listen.

But the average person has a poor understanding of how this colossally important entity operates. Or even why it exists.

And after a series of asset price bubbles -- which some argue we're in another one now -- a chorus skeptical of the Fed's actions has emerged.

Pro-freedom politicians and activists, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.Ron DeSantis, and Donald Trump, have expressed opposition to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)

And yet, CBDCs are coming whether we like them or not.

The United States won't let other nations create blockchain-based payment networks that leave the dollar in the dust. And it won’t allow adversaries like China to tout its model as technologically superior.

Today's public policy is driven by power, not nuanced research papers produced by think tanks. Just as they pursue industrial policies that strengthen the state’s grip on the economy, the regime will introduce a CBDC. They must, because to hold power they need to shore up the American ability to manipulate global markets – regardless of the negative consequences for personal freedom of everyday people in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Given the recent rapid advancement of money technology, standing athwart history and yelling Stop (however well-intentioned) is unproductive. Government money protocols will continue to be developed, and continue to centralize power over the economy.

Update(1831ET): With Israel's embassies around the world on a heightened state of alert, and extra IDF reservists called up, and home and weekend leave for all combat troops having been abruptly canceled Thursday, the Israeli population is anxiously awaiting a response - with some reports saying residents are already seeking the safety of bomb shelters.

Tehran has vowed that vengeance is coming soon for the Monday Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Damascus. Most pundits believe this will take the form of ballistic missiles raining down on Israeli cities. But Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly vowing that if the Islamic Republic launches missiles from its soil it will ensure "a strong response" from Israel.

Israeli officials have told Axios late in the day that such an act would "take the current conflict to another level" — which most certainly would involve a direct Israel-Iran war and thus the eruption of a broader regional conflict. Axios adds the following observations:

  • Iranian proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Gaza have attacked Israel but there hasn't been an attack from Iranian soil.
  • A direct Iranian strike on Israel would be unprecedented and could lead to a regional war in the Middle East.

Netanyahu informed his security cabinet Thursday that Israel's forces have already been engaged with Iran "both directly and via its proxies, and therefore Israel is operating against Iran and its proxies, both defensively and offensively."

Due to the sanctions, Russia cannot access spare parts from Western engineering companies that have provided refinery equipment in the past, leaving Russian refiners struggling to repair damaged units, multiple industry sources in Russia have told Reuters.

Western firms including America’s UOP and Swiss ABB have supplied parts and equipment to major Russian refineries in the past. After the invasion of Ukraine, they no longer fulfill new orders from Russia, leaving local engineers scrambling to find spare parts and equipment.

One example of such difficulty is Lukoil’s Norsi refinery in Nizhny Novgorod on the Volga River. A turbine malfunctioned there in early January and Russian engineers have struggled to have the equipment replaced since then, according to Reuters sources.

This has left the refinery with a reduced capacity to produce gasoline.

The malfunction at the refinery compounded last month after a fire broke out at the facility following a drone attack.

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory researchers found the promise of coating the inner surface of the vessel containing a fusion plasma in liquid lithium guides them toward the best practices for fueling their plasmas.

The research, which is featured in a new paper in Nuclear Fusion, includes observations, numerical simulations and analysis from their experiments inside a fusion plasma vessel called the Lithium Tokamak Experiment-Beta (LTX-β). (Please note, there is a dearth of attention grabbing media available for this post, however, the research paper at posting is not behind a paywall.)

One team at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) has been asking themselves lately as a metaphor, “How much fuel can we add to the fire while still maintaining control?”

Now, they believe they have the answer for one particular scenario. It’s all a part of the Lab’s work to bring energy from fusion to the power grid.

You know that the Administration of President Joe Biden has reached a new low when it takes the initiative to lie for Israel even when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is accepting some blame for the targeted killing of six foreign national aid workers and a Palestinian translator belonging to Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen humanitarian “feed the hungry” charitable organization. Bear in mind that that the Israeli army has killed without any regrets expressed at least 196 aid and relief workers in its onslaught on all living creatures located in Gaza, as well as nearly every journalist that crosses its path and doctors and medical staff in hospitals attempting to save lives and treat the injured and dying. On this rare occasion, however, Netanyahu realized that the calculated way in which the predominantly foreign victims had been killed with three separate drone strikes directed against three well-marked and easily identifiable World Central Kitchen vehicles following a route pre-approved and declared to be safe by the Israeli army itself would heighten the already legitimate extreme loathing of the Jewish state and all its works worldwide. Make no mistake these seven workers were deliberately targeted, hunted down and murdered. And it was no accident or a case of poor communications as this was all carried out by an Israeli military unit under the direct control of senior officers in a bid to hasten the starvation of the Palestinian population by driving away relief organizations.

Since the start of his term, Joe Biden has allowed millions of illegal aliens into the country. It seemed Democrats were content with making red states deal with this crisis. But once migrants started showing up in blue cities and states, the left melted down.

Because they are “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens, these states can’t call for the deportation of these migrants. Yet, Democrats appear woefully unprepared to deal with this crisis.

But until the border is closed, this problem will only get worse. Democrat cities have run out of money to accommodate migrants. And many migrants have rejected the jobs Democrats have been taking from Americans to give them. Now, a group of Venezuelan migrants staged a protest in a community center—making wild demands.

From The Post Millennial:
Dozens of illegal immigrants and local activists occupied a rec area at a Seattle community center and public school, demanding someone pick up the tab for the hotel where they had been staying.

Sources told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI that staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation arrived at the Garfield Community Center Wednesday morning to find the Venezuelan illegal immigrants in tents on the tennis courts. The property is shared with Garfield High School in the Seattle Public School district.

The Biden administration approved another weapons package for Israel this week that includes thousands of bombs as US military aid continues to flow unimpeded to support the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

A Biden administration official told Reuters that arms shipment includes 1,000 MK82 500-pound bombs, more than 1,000 small-diameter bombs, and fuses for MK80 bombs. The bombs will be delivered by the end of the year.

The bombs were approved on Monday, the same day Israel bombed Iran’s consulate in Syria and killed aid workers who were employed by the World Central Kitchen. The Seven WCK workers, including an American citizen, were killed by three Israeli missile strikes while traveling a route pre-approved by the Israeli military.

Last week, Biden approved new munition shipments to Israel, including 2,000-pound bombs, and an F-35 deal worth $2.5 billion. He is expected to approve another major arms deal that includes 50 F-15 fighter jets and will be worth $18 billion.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Thursday that the death toll in the US-backed Israeli campaign has surpassed 33,000, which includes about 14,500 children. The figure is considered a low estimate since it doesn’t include thousands who are dead under the rubble

Data quietly published by a host of countries across Europe reveals that excess deaths among children are still occurring at an alarming rate as we enter the spring of 2024. The deaths cannot be blamed on COVID-19 because the data has proven the alleged virus and disease rarely harms children, if at all. And the terrible trend only began when the European Medicines Agency extended Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) of the COVID-19 vaccines to children in the middle of Spring of 2021.

For years, Democrats have been fighting to raise the minimum wage. While most states have raised this minimum, the national limit is $7.50 an hour. Liberal activists have demanded $15 an hour. Some progressives want even more.

At a time when inflation is destroying entire industries, forcing companies to raise prices higher and higher—Democrats seem to think they can limitless cash to give to low-skilled workers.

In one blue state, a new law just went into effect. It has raised the minimum wage all the way to $20 an hour. While fast food workers celebrated the news, companies made a dire warning. This “victory” could end up putting many out of work.

From The Post Millennial:
The California Fast Food Workers Union held a rally on Wednesday celebrating the state requiring fast food workers to be paid at least $20 per hour…

Some companies and managers have warned that the pay increase will come alongside cut hours for employees…

Companies such as Jack in the Box, Chipotle, McDonald’s, and Starbucks have warned that the wage increase could inflate menu prices by between 2.5 and 3.5 percent. Pizza Hut has warned around 1,000 workers that they could lose their jobs.

President Biden has been quoted as saying that the U.S. economy is “strong as hell.” He even claimed during his SOTU that America’s economy is the “envy of the world.” His administration has been trying to convince Americans that things are going great—they just don’t know it.

But despite this level of gaslighting from the White House, Americans continue to struggle. Wages are down, employment is low, and illegal aliens are forcing Americans to compete for housing, food, and jobs.

And now, one of Biden’s biggest blunders is coming back to haunt him. This problem was directly caused by Biden’s decisions. He hastily tried to fix it in the past—by giving up precious resources. But now, he has nothing left to address it.

From Breitbart:
The nationwide average price for regular gas topped $3.54 a gallon, a spike of more than 45 percent under President Joe Biden, AAA reported Wednesday.

In the past month, gas prices rose 20 cents ($3.34), about one dollar more expensive ($2.38) than when Trump left office.

World Central Kitchen has responded to the findings of the IDF probe into the killing of 7 of its aid workers, saying that Israel's military had taken "important steps forward" but that its apologies will be "cold comfort" for the victims' families.

The charity said that it is demanding "the creation of an independent commission to investigate the killings of our WCK colleagues," adding that "The IDF cannot credibly investigate its own failure in Gaza."

The disaster relief group's founder José Andrés said: “It’s not enough to simply try to avoid further humanitarian deaths, which have now approached close to 200." He added: “All civilians need to be protected, and all innocent people in Gaza need to be fed and safe. And all hostages must be released.”

Two pro-Israel groups are launching new campaigns against former GOP Rep. John Hostettler of Indiana, who is looking to return to Congress nearly 20 years after leaving office.

The Republican Jewish Coalition and the United Democracy Project, a super PAC tied to the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, announced this week they are launching ads targeting the former congressman, who is part of a crowded field of Republicans competing to succeed retiring GOP Rep. Larry Bucshon.

“John Hostettler has a terrible record on Israel that is way out of line with the voters in Indiana’s 8th District,” United Democracy Project spokesperson Patrick Dorton told NBC News. “The voters deserve to know his ‘out of the mainstream’ track record on this issue.”

A Pfizer-funded, peer-reviewed paper authored by Pfizer scientists reveals that the company's antiviral COVID medication Paxlovid completely sucks, confirming what everyone's known since it came out. In a randomized phase 2-3 trial of the drug conducted between Aug. 25, 2021 through July 25, 2022, 654 out of 1,296 patients were dosed with at least one 300mg dose of Paxlovid + 100mg of protease inhibitor ritonavir vs. a placebo group. The results showed that the median time until COVID-19 symptoms ended through day 28 was 12 days in the treatment group vs. 13 days in the placebo group. According to the authors, the result of the drug, which is also known as nirmatrelvir, "was not significant."

The Danish government fired Chief of Defense Flemming Lentfer on Wednesday after it was revealed that the top military official failed to report flaws in the HDMS Iver Huitfeldt frigate's air defense and weapons systems that emerged during an attack last month by the Yemeni armed forces in the Red Sea.

"I have lost trust in the chief of defense," Troels Lund Poulsen, Denmark’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, told reporters on Wednesday night. Poulsen reportedly learned about the failure from the Danish military outlet Olfi.

HDMS Iver Huitfeldt

"We are facing a historic and necessary strengthening of Denmark’s defense forces. This places great demands on our organization and on the military advice at a political level," the Danish official added.

On March 9, the Iver Huitfeldt's air defense systems failed for 30 minutes while engaging Yemeni attacks launched by Houthis in support of Gaza, according to a leaked document written by the ship’s commanding officer and reviewed by Olfi. The document also reported issues with the ship’s ammunition system, which caused half of its rounds to detonate before they hit their target.

"Our clear understanding is that the issue has been known for years without the necessary sense of urgency to resolve the problem," the frigate's commanding officer reported.

The Iver Huitfeldt eventually fended off the attack, shooting down four drones over the Red Sea in what – at the time – was presented as a success story.

Lentfer's firing is the latest in a string of recent public embarrassments from NATO member states, particularly in the Red Sea, where a months-long campaign of US and UK airstrikes inside Yemen has failed to deter attacks against Israeli-linked vessels.

Claire's Observations:  This is not only part of a " a string of recent public embarrassments from NATO member states; it is also a "string if recent public victories" for the Iranian backed Houthis.

America’s futile attempts to field a working hypersonic weapon demonstrate just how far behind in missile tech the rogue superpower has fallen. While it was busy with futile attempts to tarnish the reputation of Russian hypersonic missiles, the rest of the world kept doing its homework and the effort is finally paying off. Namely, on April 2, North Korea conducted the first test launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) with a hypersonic warhead. While it’s not entirely clear what sort of weapon is on top of the missile, it looks to be a glide vehicle (HGV). Dubbed the “Hwasong-16B” in most military sources, the missile is expected to complement the rapidly growing arsenal of other North Korean strategic weapons such as the “Hwasong-10” and “Hwasong-12” that entered service in previous years.

Along with the aforementioned missiles, the “Hwasong-16B” strengthens Pyongyang’s capability to not only deter possible aggression by the United States, but also strike strategically important American military facilities in the increasingly contested Asia-Pacific region. This also includes the infamous Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, where the Pentagon is expanding its long-range strike capabilities in an attempt to conduct yet another crawling aggression in other superpowers’ geopolitical backyard. Interestingly, just a few weeks ago, on March 19, the USAF conducted what it claims was the last test of the AGM-183A, an air-launched missile carrying an HGV. Dubbed the ARRW (Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon), the missile was supposed to be the US entry point into the highly exclusive “hypersonic club”.

Former US congressional staffer and political commentator Rodney Martin says the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and other pro-Israel lobby groups in the United States have successfully put the US government in a chokehold.

Martin, who is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, the US, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the Press TV website on Wednesday while commenting on Washington’s policy of providing weapons to Israel in its genocidal war in Gaza.

More than five months into the Israeli war on the besieged Gaza Strip, the death toll of Palestinians has just crossed 31,000, with thousands more still trapped under the rubble.

Almost 14,000 of those killed by the Israeli military, using sophisticated American weapons, are children and approximately 9,000 are women. More than 72,000 others are wounded.

After the umpteenth refusal of a peace negotiation by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the bloody massacre of the attack in Moscow carried out by terrorists financed by Kiev and probably trained by Western intelligence, the patience of Russian President Vladimir Putin really seems to be over.

Strengthened by the grandiose reconfirmation in the recent elections, the Tsar of Moscow has raised the level of attacks by launching a storm of hypersonic Zircon and Kinzhal missiles, impossible to intercept, both on the most dangerous military positions of the Kiev army and on the country’s energy infrastructures (report by Russia Ministry of Defense below).

On the other hand, Zelensky, like a spoiled child whose toys of death have been taken away, continues to ask NATO countries for weapons for a war he cannot win, as tycoons David Sach and Elon Musk have explicitly declared in recent days.

Russian aerospace engineering needs no introduction. Whether it was the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union or modern-day Russia, Moscow was one of the pioneers of aviation and its prowess in relevant technologies stands to this very day and includes a number of world records when it comes to a variety of aircraft developed since the early 1900s. One of the fields in which Russia has been dominating in the last 60 years is developing superfast, high-flying interceptors.

While the Soviet Union already had top-of-the-line interceptors in the late 1940s/early 1950s, with the then virtually unrivaled MiG-15 dominating the skies over Korea, it was during the 1960s that Russia made a tremendous leap forward, eclipsing anything its adversaries have been able to field ever since. Namely, in the early 1960s, Moscow developed the now legendary MiG-25 (NATO reporting name “Foxbat”), boasting a maximum speed of over Mach 3.2 (nearly 4000 km/h), making it the fastest armed military aircraft in history, matched only by the unarmed American SR-71 ISR aircraft.

The venerable MiG-25 set a number of world records, including in sustained supersonic speed over a long distance when the MiG OKB Chief Test Pilot Aleksandr Fedotov reached an average speed of more than 2,319 km/h over a 1,000 km circuit in 1965. Just two years later, his colleague Mikhail Komarov averaged over 2,981 km/h in a closed 500 km circuit, while Fedotov reached an altitude of 30 km with a 1000 kg payload, becoming the first aircraft to do so. Both records were established on the same day.

There has been no public announcement of why the huge and fully loaded cargo ship Dali lost power in the early morning hours of March 26, 2024, before drifting into a support pylon of Baltimore’s Frances Scott Key Bridge and causing it to collapse into the Patapsco River in the economically worst US infrastructure disaster of the 21st century.

But an early report from the Vessel Tracker website declared: “…enquiries into the cause of the ship’s failure to navigate safely have commenced. The accident site was being treated as a crime scene.” (emphasis added)

So far, no public authority has made any statements on possible criminal aspects of the incident. The “crime scene” declaration may simply reflect the fact that when an accident involves loss of life, possible criminal charges must be addressed. In the Dali disaster, six workmen engaged in highway repairs on the bridge’s roadway are missing and presumed dead. Who is ultimately responsible?

You’d think Western leaders dealing with foreign affairs would make sure they had a working knowledge of international law and respect its importance. It’s based on common sense and is easy enough for politicians of average intelligence to understand. But they don’t seem to.

So it was refreshing to hear Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s representative at the United Nations, ticking off the US and Israel for trying to duck their legal responsibilities after the Security Council adopted Resolution 2728. This deals with Israel’s attempt to destroy Gaza and its people and “demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire, and also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs, and further demands that the parties comply with their obligations under international law in relation to all persons they detain”.

It also “emphasizes the urgent need to expand the flow of humanitarian assistance to and reinforce the protection of civilians in the entire Gaza Strip and reiterates its demand for the lifting of all barriers to the provision of humanitarian assistance at scale, in line with international humanitarian law as well as resolutions 2712 (2023) and 2720 (2023)”.
