COMING UP SHORT THIS MONTH.
Thought for the day
America’s domestic natural gas consumption is being threatened by record liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to Europe. According to a study by Reuters, shale producers in the U.S. are struggling to address the rising demand for domestic and international natural gas.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) faced backlash Friday afternoon after she was accused of exploiting migrants for cheap labor by stating at a press conference that migrants were needed to “pick the crops.”
Vice President Kamala Harris (D) faced backlash online Friday afternoon after saying that the Biden administration was prioritizing giving disaster relief to minorities for the sake of “equity” because the administration wants everyone to end up “in an equal place.”
Thousands of Floridians without flood insurance could face financial ruin in the wake of Hurricane Ian, which first hit the Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane on Wednesday, according to a new report.

Vice President Kamala Harris (D) was called out Friday evening by entrepreneur Elon Musk after saying that the Biden administration was prioritizing giving disaster relief to minorities for the sake of “equity” because the administration wants everyone to end up “in an equal place.”
Official figures published by the UK Government reveal the fully/triple vaccinated population have accounted for over 9 in every 10 Covid-19 deaths in England over the past year, 91% of all Covid-19 deaths since the beginning of 2022, and 94% of all Covid-19 deaths since the beginning of April 2022.
Evidence is mounting that the U.S. housing market may be deteriorating faster than it did in the 2008 recession. This has sparked speculation that home prices may be in for a more brutal pullback than many economists projected.
With 30-year fixed mortgage rates trending over 6% for the first time since 2008, demand for homes is down substantially from last year’s peak. Data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) shows July home sales fell nearly 20% year-over-year. Furthermore, rent prices are up almost 30% from last year, primarily attributed to single-family rentals. This reflects the fact that many would-be home-buying families are opting to rent instead of committing to a down payment on a house.
Furthermore, the Biden administration’s cherry-picking of data has come back to bite it, with even its selected data points now being revised to indicate a recession. And while these numbers confirm the economy shrank in the first half of the year, the rest of this year holds little promise of recovery.
The economy, as measured by gross domestic product — the total value of all goods and services produced within the nation’s borders — shrank in the first two quarters of the year, but, in Orwellian fashion, the White House was quick to roll out its latest newspeak and declare that this no longer meant a recession. The Biden administration cited seemingly robust growth in gross domestic income to counter the decline in GDP. Yet for some reason, it is silent about today’s revised data.
That is probably because gross national income — the total amount of money earned by the nation’s people and businesses — was revised heavily downward from 1.4% to just 0.1% in the second quarter. The average of gross domestic product and gross domestic income is considered a supplemental measure of economic activity, and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, among others, used this as proof the nation was not in recession, since the previous average was 0.4% growth in the second quarter.

A Portuguese prelate was named by Pope Francis to lead the new Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education, having enjoyed a “meteoric” rise in the Curial ranks and been a consistent promoter of LGBT ideology.
On Monday, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça was appointed to become Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, a dicastery that was created in June under the terms of Praedicate Evangelium, which merged the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Culture.
He has enjoyed a swift rise through the ranks of the Curia under the Francis pontificate. Previously vice rector of the Catholic University of Lisbon and rector of the Pontifical Portuguese College in Rome, he made a name for himself as an academic, a Biblical scholar and “priest-poet,” and was invited to lead Francis’ 2018 Lenten retreat.
Kamala Harris on Friday suggested hurricane and disaster relief should be based on race.
Ramzan Kadyrov, head of Russia’s region of Chechnya, said on Saturday that Moscow should consider using a low-yield nuclear weapon in Ukraine amid new reversals on the battlefield.
In a message on Telegram criticizing Russian commanders for abandoning the east Ukrainian town of Lyman on Saturday, Kadyrov wrote: “In my personal opinion, more drastic measures should be taken, right up to the declaration of martial law in the border areas and the use of low-yield nuclear weapons.”
He was speaking a day after President Vladimir Putin proclaimed the annexation of four Ukrainian regions - including Donetsk, where Lyman is located - and placed them under Russia’s nuclear umbrella, saying Moscow would defend the lands it had seized “with all our strength and all our means.”
On Monday saboteurs targeted Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. The attacks that shut down both pipelines from Russia are suspected sabotage according to U.S. and European leaders and analysts.

China has told state-run financial institutions to prepare to sell off their dollar holdings while stocking up on offshore yuan, as Beijing tries to bolster the national currency, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
The simultaneous dumping of the US dollar and purchasing of the yuan are expected to avoid further drops in the Chinese currency, which is currently on track for the biggest annual loss versus the greenback in nearly three decades. So far this year, the yuan has dropped over 11% against the dollar.
The unnamed source told the agency that the scale of this round of dollar selling to defend the weakening yuan is expected to be “rather big.”
Any Russian use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine would be the equivalent of an attack on “NATO itself,” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham declared on Thursday, adding it would be met with a “catastrophic” response.
Speaking during a joint press conference with Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Graham noted that in such an attack the radiation “would not be confined to Ukraine, you would be irradiating parts of Europe that are under the NATO banner.”
“If that day ever comes — and I hope and pray it doesn’t — [a nuclear strike] should be considered by NATO writ large and the United States as an attack by Russia on NATO itself,” he said.

The West has been fighting World War III against Russia “for a long time” without being aware of it, former White House advisor Fiona Hill told the New Yorker magazine on Thursday. Moscow, however, is aware, with President Vladimir Putin accusing the collective West of waging “hybrid war” on Russia.
“We’ve been in this for a long time, and we’ve failed to recognize it,” said Hill, who served in Donald Trump’s national security council before testifying against him during the 2019 impeachment inquiry.
With the US backing a coup in Kiev in 2014 and supplying military aid to Ukraine while it waged war against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the eight years since, Hill suggested that Washington could reevaluate its stated policy of supporting Ukraine without becoming a direct party to the conflict.
The US only forbids Kiev’s forces from attacking Russian territory with HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems), not all American weapons, Ukrainian ambassador to Washington Oksana Markarova said on Thursday.
The US has been Kiev’s main backer during the conflict with Moscow, providing Ukrainian forces with billions of dollars worth of military aid, including sophisticated hardware such as HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, M777 howitzers, and combat drones.
Last month, Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov said that Kiev had “agreements with the US that we will not use weapons provided to us by the US and partners on the territory of Russia” due to Washington’s concern that it could escalate the fighting even further.

The US views the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines as a “tremendous opportunity” to wean the continent off of Russian energy, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters on Friday. With winter approaching, Blinken said that the US wants Europe to decrease its fuel use.
Speaking to reporters in Washington, Blinken boasted that the US is now “the leading supplier of [liquefied natural gas] to Europe.” In addition to shipping its own fuel to Europe, Blinken said that the US is working with European leaders to find ways to “decrease demand” and “speed up the transition to renewables.”
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to once and for all remove the dependence on Russian energy and thus to take away from [Russian President] Vladimir Putin the weaponization of energy as a means of advancing his imperial designs,” Blinken declared.
The US likely stands to gain the most from the destruction of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, which were damaged by a series of explosions off the Danish island of Bornholm earlier this week. Washington has for years been trying to convince European leaders to swap Russian gas for its LNG, and the severity of the damage to the undersea conduits now means that Europe is “indefinitely deprived” of Russian gas via this route, Russian energy operator Gazprom stated on Friday.

FDNY EMS Lt. Alison Russo was a September 11, 2001 first responder who devoted her life to serving the people of New York. Yesterday, while on duty, Russo was the victim of a random stabbing in Queens in broad daylight. She was taken Mt. Sinai hospital where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries.
There are “more and more signs” that the United States is “responsible” for the sabotage on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, believes ex-Swiss intelligence officer Jacques Baud.
Poland and Ukraine may be the culprits as well, as countries that vehemently lobbied for the transit of gas through their territories and opposed the pipeline to begin with, the former NATO adviser said on French radio station Courtoisie’s program, Ligne Droite.
However, the United States also made no secret of its vested interest in rupturing all ties between Russia and European countries, Baud added.
Jacques Baud, who was a Colonel in the Swiss Army and formerly worked for the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service, earlier stated that since the Second World War, it had always been US policy to prevent Germany and Russia or the USSR from working more closely together.
Baud, who formerly was head of “Policy and Doctrine” in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York, underscored in a spate of interviews that “nobody cares about Ukraine” in the West, and NATO, the EU and its allies have “instrumentalized Ukraine for the purpose of US. strategic interests.”
Whoopi Goldberg heralded a giant puppet named “Little Amal” for being “a powerful symbol of human rights” on Thursday’s edition of ABC’s “The View.”
Blasts rocked the Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines on Monday, with each pipeline reportedly hit with the force of over 500 kg of TNT – which when combined is equivalent to the explosive power of a micro nuke. The Kremlin called the incident an act of terrorism, while Russian intelligence has pointed to a Western trace.
In his address before lawmakers and the nation on Friday on the entry of four new territories into the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin said that the attacks against Nord Stream were the next logical step for the US and its allies after exhausting anti-Russian sanctions. “It seems incredible but it is a fact – by causing explosions on Nord Stream’s international gas pipelines passing along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, they have actually embarked on the destruction of Europe’s entire energy infrastructure,” the Russian president said.
Officials in Denmark, Sweden and Berlin have not ruled out deliberate sabotage, and NATO paid lip service to “support” for “investigations underway to determine the origin of the damage.” A Pentagon official refused to comment on a Flightradar24 analysis showing US military helicopters circling for hours in the areas where the explosions hit prior to the incident. Meanwhile, former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski tweeted and then deleted a “Thank you, USA” message alongside a picture of a massive methane leak emanating from one of the damaged pipelines, and boasted that “now, $20 billion of scrap metal lies at the bottom of the sea.” Meanwhile, some Western officials and media continue to claim that Russia sabotaged its own pipelines.
