Boris Johnson has been made an honorary citizen of Kyiv as he implores the Davos elite to step up support for Ukraine.
The ex-PM received the award from boxing greats Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko - the latter of whom is now mayor of the city - at the Swiss resort last night.
Mr Johnson used a pro-UK event at the World Economic Forum this morning to dismiss Vladimir Putin's nuclear threats.
Cornell Law Professor William A. Jacobson warned that colleges and universities are “manifesting authoritarianism” by removing “problematic” words and firing staff that don’t abide by left-wing ideologies.
Jacobson said he believes the increase in stories about word-banning on college campuses is a manifestation of what is referred to as “repressive tolerance,” wherein tolerance serves to preserve a repressive society by neutralizing opposition to impose forms of authoritarianism.
“They monitor your language, they get you to use language that only they approve, and once you’ve done that with somebody, once you’ve done that with a campus, that’s enormous control,” he told Fox News Digital.
There are numerous examples of colleges attempting to change the language of faculty and students, according to Jacobson. He pointed to the implementation of author Ibram Kendi’s antiracism agenda in staff training sessions as one of the more recent examples.
Missile systems designed to intercept aircraft and incoming missiles appear to have been deployed on top of several defence and administrative buildings in downtown Moscow, signalling that the Kremlin is preparing for a potential, if unlikely, attack being directed on the Russian capital.
Photographs published on social media on Thursday showed a Pantsir missile system had been installed on the roof of an eight-story building used by the Russian defence ministry along the Moskva River.
Another video showed the air defence system being lifted on to the roof of an education building in Moscow’s Taganka district, 1.5 miles south-east of the Kremlin.
The German generals are trying it again. That’s the Wolf’s Lair plot of July 20, 1944.
To save themselves, they are begging their counterparts in Washington, DC, to find a way to lose the war in the Ukraine as quickly as possible without losing the US empire in Germany. This means overruling or replacing, not only Vladimir Zelensky’s regime in Kiev but also the Green Party ministers in power in Berlin, Robert Habeck and Annalena Baerbock, and maybe Chancellor Olaf Scholz to boot.
The Wehrmacht plotter this time is a retired brigadier general named Erich Vad (lead image, right). As German military officers go, he’s unusual. He was trained by a German-born Israeli infantry general turned academic. Vad then reached general’s rank, according to a senior German politician, but “never led a battalion, never led a brigade, and was never deployed in active operations”; he is a “desk general”.
Vad’s self-advertisements mention no active service or combat command. Instead, he has filled advisor posts at the Bundestag (2000-2006) and the Chancellery (2006-2013) when Angela Merkel was chancellor. Since 2014 he has been selling his advice either through Vad’s own consulting firm in Munich or a Swiss intermediary company in Zurich.
Merkel appointed Vad for the German military and the armaments industry to have a voice inside her office. Because they didn’t regard Vad as one of their own, Merkel promoted him to general’s rank.
The US government has authorized another $2.5 billion in military aid for Ukraine, including thousands of rockets and artillery rounds, as well as the first-ever shipment of Stryker fighting vehicles.
The Pentagon announced the new arms package on Thursday, marking the 30th drawdown from Defense Department inventories since the conflict in Ukraine erupted last year. In addition to 90 Strykers and a variety of other armored vehicles, Washington will supply 95,000 105-millimeter artillery shells, additional ammunition for the HIMARS multi-launch rocket platform, an unspecified number of rounds for the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS), and eight Avenger air defense systems, among other gear.
In service since 2002, the eight-wheeled Stryker can be equipped with a range of main armaments depending on the model, including the M2 machine gun, the MK19 grenade launcher, or the 30mm MK44 Bushmaster chaingun. The Pentagon did not say which version Kiev would receive, only noting that the 90 Strykers would come with 20 landmine rollers.
Some of the most incendiary accusations made against Iran’s government by corporate media, celebrity influencers and Western leaders in the past months are little more than fabrications. And most remain uncorrected.
Protests in Iran that ostensibly began as a reaction to the death of a woman in police custody in September 2022 have prompted unprecedented international opposition to its government, not only from the usual Western, Israeli and Saudi suspects, but from celebrity social media influencers with no previous record of commenting on Iranian affairs.
Iran is now the target of a carefully coordinated information war with a single goal to drive international support for regime change by any means – whether through sanctions, armed insurrection, military intervention, or some combination of the three.
Before a largely uncritical audience of billions of admiring Instagram followers who do not speak Farsi and have little to no understanding of Iranian politics or culture, a collection of Hollywood actors, washed-up rockers and top models have pumped out viral posts depicting ghastly abuses of protesters by Iran’s security forces, including retaliatory home demolitions and outright massacres.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s radical rightwing ministers’ agenda is to “empty the West Bank of Arabs.” And yet high Biden officials are meeting with Netanyahu today, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due out within a couple of weeks, all to give Biden’s blessing to the “unbreakable” bond between the two governments — and perform what the State Department admitted yesterday is “triage” on the complete failure of the two-state solution.
The ethnic-cleansing agenda of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was discussed by Yossi Alpher, speaking to Americans for Peace Now this week. He said the two openly-racist politicians are awaiting the collapse of the Palestinian Authority and the resumption of full Israeli administration of the occupied territories.
“This, then, is where Netanyahu’s new far-right government comes fully into play: significant parts of it will argue in favor of annexing all or part of the West Bank without giving Palestinians equal rights. Israel would now officially be a bi-national non- democratic state. Under these circumstances, it is easy to imagine Bezalel Smotrich announcing, ostensibly to calm international, Arab and moderate Israeli sensibilities, that equal rights will be discussed after, say, a 20-year transition period–during which Israel will look for ways to empty the West Bank of Arabs. This is Smotrich and Ben Gvir’s agenda.”
Russian officials on Thursday reacted to a report from The New York Times that said the US was warming to the idea of helping Ukraine strike Crimea despite the risk of a Russian escalation.
When asked about the report on Wednesday, State Department spokesman Ned Price didn’t deny its contents and said, “Crimea is Ukraine,” as the US hasn’t recognized Crimea as Russian since Russia took control of it in 2014.
Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s ambassador to the US, responded to Price’s comments and the reports, likening the plans to potential “terrorist attacks” and warning of escalation.
“The State Department, through out-of-touch assertions that ‘Crimea is Ukraine’ and that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use American weapons to protect their territory, is essentially pushing the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks in Russia,” Antonov said, according to a press release from the Russian Embassy in the US.
Both firings were due to a “loss of confidence” in Jenkins and Nordeen’s ability to command. The Navy did not provide any further information about the cause of the reliefs.
The New York Times is reporting that the Biden Administration is considering giving Ukraine the tools and the green light to attack Russia in Crimea, surmising that a lack of Russian escalation to this point means they will similarly not respond to a US-backed attack. What could go wrong?
Al Gore is testing out his performative Greta mode at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week. The former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate who as early as the 1990's was dubbed in the pages of The Washington Post as "very boring" and as having a "naturally stiff, wooden persona" momentarily (and very awkwardly) tried to go climate activist beast mode during a Q&A panel.
His attempt this week to pull off a "Greta moment" and shed his notorious stiffness resulted in an unhinged rant wherein he claimed that carbon emissions and greenhouses gases are trapping "as much extra heat as would be released by 600,000 Hiroshima class atomic bombs exploding every single day on the earth."
The teacher sounds like she did something horrible. She showed her students pictures of religious figures. According to The Blaze, “Dr. Erika Lopez Prater, who teaches a class about Islamic art, was fired by Hamline University for showing images of the religious figures despite warning students multiple times that she would do so.”
She showed pictures of various religious figures, including the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
However, even though she pre-warned students that she would be doing so, one student still chose to attend class.
After seeing the pictures, Aram Wedatalla, a Muslim student, complained about seeing the paintings. After Wedatalla complained to administrators, the teacher no longer has her teaching position. The President of the university issued a massive apology to students for the incident.
Even though the university stands behind its decision, Dr. Prater is suing. According to Fox News, “Attorneys with the law firm Fabian May & Anderson announced the lawsuit Tuesday afternoon, according to local Minneapolis-St. Paul affiliate Fox 9.”
DeSantis won his re-election campaign in 2022 by a wide margin, a bright spot for what otherwise was a disappointing year for conservatives. He won by picking culture war fights against such targets as woke universities, the teachers’ unions, and even the Disney company.
Naturally, as the 2024 presidential campaign draws nigh, pundits have started to tout DeSantis as a presidential candidate. In the view of some, he has developed a reputation as a Trump without the off-putting drama.
How does the other resident of Florida, Donald J. Trump, feel about being challenged for the presidency by DeSantis? The Blaze explains.
As President Joe Biden’s classified document scandal continues to develop, the president’s protectors are reportedly prepared to provide even more fuel for the fire.
The U.S. Secret Service could reveal the names of individuals who have visited Biden’s Delaware home, where two batches of classified documents were held by the former vice president, according to Fox News.
The White House has insisted that no formal record is kept of visitors to the home. However, Fox reported that the Secret Service does “collect information on guests with regular access to the home.”
A Massachusetts seventh-grader is in a pediatric intensive care unit after suffering two cardiac arrest episodes last weekend.
Her mother, Krissy, started CPR before the ambulance arrived, an act that likely saved her daughter’s life, Dr. John Kelley told the news station.
“Having an immediate response like that within minutes of the event is absolutely crucial,” Kelley told WGGB. “If you have no circulation to the brain for five minutes or more, it’s very unlikely you’re going to get the person back.”
Nevaeh was in a medically induced coma for four days, but is now awake.
She suffered some minor brain damage from a stroke she sustained from a lack of oxygen, but is expected to make a full recovery, WGGB reported.
The Massachusetts case is just one of many recent examples of children suffering injury or death due to cardiac incidents.
Amid discussion that former President Donald Trump may return to Twitter as part of his 2024 campaign for the presidency, Twitter owner Elon Musk is worried that the ripple effects could seriously rock Twitter’s boat.
Recently, an anonymous Republican source close to Trump told NBC News that Trump’s return to Twitter is likely imminent. The report said Trump is seeking to return to Facebook as well. Both social media platforms banned Trump after the Capitol incursion in 2021.
Musk referenced the speculation in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Will be interesting to see how the Biden administration reacts to this. They may try to weaponize Federal agencies against Twitter,” Musk wrote. He did not provide specifics.
While the European Union’s seaborne imports of Russian crude oil declined by just over 12% last year, Russia still enjoyed status as the top seaborne oil supplier to the bloc, despite sanctions...
According to data from maritime sector brokerage firm Banchero Costa, last year saw the EU import 98.8 million tonnes of Russian crude via sea, down from 112.5 million tonnes in 2021 and 128.5 million tonnes in 2019.
For 2022, Russia still accounted for 21.9% of European seaborne imports of Russian crude, followed by the North Sea, which accounted for 17% and North Africa, at 15.4%.
North Sea shipments of oil to Europe were up by 19.2% year-on year, and well above 2019 numbers, while North African shipments of oil to Europe increased by 6%. Shipments from West Africa to Europe were up by 27.5% for 2022. The United States saw a 43.1% increase of crude oil exports to Europe for a record 51.4 million tonnes.
But the biggest surge came from the Arabian Gulf, registering a 76.4% increase year-on-year in 2022, though this is still down from the levels of 2019, while the U.S. exports to Europe were record-breaking.
Overall, Banchero said, citing Refinitiv data, “2022 has turned out to be a very positive year for crude oil trade, despite the surging oil prices and risks of economic recession”.
With Boris Pistorius set to be sworn in as Germany’s latest defense minister on Thursday, several politicians, including some within Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s own party, expressed their fury that the federal government will once again be a majority-male cabinet.
With Pistorius set to replace the outgoing Christine Lambrecht, whose reign at the German Ministry of Defense was littered with PR disasters and incompetence, the make-up of the federal government will be male-orientated — 9 males to 7 females.
The move temporarily contravenes a pledge made by then-Vice Chancellor Scholz in 2020, who tweeted:
“I am making the promise here today: At least half of the cabinet that I lead as Federal Chancellor is made up of women!”
In this age of ubiquitous surveillance, there are no private lives: everything is public.
Surveillance cameras mounted on utility poles, traffic lights, businesses, and homes. License plate readers. Ring doorbells. GPS devices. Dash cameras. Drones. Store security cameras. Geofencing and geotracking. FitBits. Alexa. Internet-connected devices.
There are roughly one billion surveillance cameras worldwide and that number continues to grow, thanks to their wholehearted adoption by governments (especially law enforcement and military agencies), businesses, and individual consumers.
With every new surveillance device we welcome into our lives, the government gains yet another toehold into our private worlds.
Indeed, empowered by advances in surveillance technology and emboldened by rapidly expanding public-private partnerships between law enforcement, the Intelligence Community, and the private sector, police have become particularly adept at sidestepping the Fourth Amendment.
The conflict over Critical Race Theory in schools boils down to two basic responses from the political left - They claim that there is no such thing as "CRT" in the way that conservatives see it, and that the accusation it is being used to indoctrinate young children is a "right wing conspiracy theory." Or, when they get caught they claim CRT is nothing more than an accurate portrayal of American history inclusive to minorities that has been suppressed because of "bigotry."
For years the former argument, that CRT does not exist and is not taught in school curriculum, has been the primary argument.
Critical Race Theory is the mostly faulty theory that western society today is built on a foundation of systemic racism. Its root assertion is that all American accomplishments over the past few centuries are owed to slavery and the exploitation of minorities. In other words, we have to abandon our past because it is inherently racist and "evil" and start over - Using the political left's ideals as a framework, of course.
CRT is a product of the Marxist concept of deconstruction. The purpose of such products is to dismantle the foundations and historical relationships of a target society, to make people hate their own heritage so that they are easier to manipulate towards a new leftist Utopian standard.
An alarming number of Americans with auto loans are struggling to make monthly payments. Auto loan performance saw further deterioration in December, and loan delinquencies jumped. Of all loans, severely delinquent ones have reached the highest rate since the financial crisis about 15 years ago.
Recall last month. We pointed out the auto sector finds itself at a critical inflection point as a crushing auto loan crisis nears. The note was titled "Perfect Storm Arrives: "Massive Wave" Of Car Repossessions And Loan Defaults To Trigger Auto Market Disaster, Cripple US Economy." It provides readers with a roadmap and how the dominos might fall in triggering what Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently warned: "Potentially, the biggest financial crisis ever."
New bone-chilling data via Cox Automotive sheds light on the rapidly deteriorating auto loan market. The report said loans delinquent by more than two months increased by 5.3% and jumped 26.7% from a year ago.
Classified documents were being held at a residence where Hunter Biden would reportedly black out from drinking and drug use during a time when he was working with a Chinese businessman with intelligence connections.
The president's son was staying at one of President Joe Biden's residences where classified documents were recently found. While there, during the worst of his alcoholism and drug addiction, Hunter Biden would be near classified documents while receiving millions of dollars from a top Chinese businessman connected to the Chinese Communist Party, according to author Michael Shellenberger.
“There’s no evidence that Hunter Biden accessed the documents, but — God-forbid — the opportunity existed for him to do so,” investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, who specializes in the Bidens' Chinese connections, told Shellenberger.
