Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday vowed that Ukraine will eventually join NATO, repeating a provocative promise that the alliance first made at a summit in Bucharest in 2008.

“Ukraine will become a member of NATO,” Blinken said in Brussels alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. NATO foreign ministers met in the Belgium capital to prepare for a NATO summit that will be held in Washington this July.

“Our purpose of the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership and to create a clear pathway for Ukraine moving forward. We’ve done a lot of work on that over the last couple of days here in Brussels, a lot more work to be done between now and the summit, but we will see, I think, at the summit very strong support for Ukraine going forward and its relationship with NATO,” Blinken said.

Webmaster addition: NATO's own rules state that no nation may join that has an ongoing territorial dispute. In the spirit of the current administration it is clear that rule is to be ignored! But yes, bringing Ukraine into NATO creates a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia.

The report titled “Killing starving Palestinians and targeting aid trucks: A deliberate Israeli policy to reinforce famine in the Gaza Strip,” documents incidents between January 11 and March 23, 2024.

A new report by the Geneva-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reveals the killing of 563 Palestinians and the injury of 1,523 others due to Israel’s targeting of people waiting for aid, distribution centres, and workers responsible for organising, protecting, and distributing aid.

Released on Wednesday, the report titled “Killing starving Palestinians and targeting aid trucks: A deliberate Israeli policy to reinforce famine in the Gaza Strip,” documents incidents between January 11 and March 23, 2024.

During that period, Euro-Med Monitor documented that 256 people were killed in the Kuwait Roundabout area, in the southeast of Gaza City, 230 on Al-Rashid Street, in the southwest of the city, and 21 due to the targeting of aid distribution centres.

Documentation also shows that 41 police officers and People’s Protection Committee members who were in charge of overseeing aid distribution were killed, along with 12 aid distribution workers, two of whom were from the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA.

The latest Israeli heightening of violence in an already violent region presents the Biden administration with one of its biggest challenges yet in keeping the United States out of a new Middle East war.

Israel’s bombing of an Iranian diplomatic compound in Damascus, killing a senior commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and several other Iranian officials in addition to at least four Syrian citizens, was a marked escalation. Besides being as much an act of aggression in Syria as many previous Israeli aerial attacks, hitting the embassy compound constituted a direct attack on Iran.

Iranian leaders will feel heavy pressure to respond forcefully. The extent of that pressure can be appreciated by imagining if the roles were reversed. If Iran had bombed an embassy of Israel or the United States, a violent and lethal response would be not just expected but demanded by politicians and publics alike.

April 4 marked the 75th anniversary of the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty by the foreign ministers of the original 12 members of the NATO alliance. And rather serendipitously, it was reported this week that NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has proposed standing up a new $100 billion fund to help Ukraine continue its effort against the Russian invasion — just in time for the anniversary.

While only in the planning stages, the so-called Mission for Ukraine proposal would also see NATO take control of the Ramstein Group which the U.S. set up to coordinate military supplies to Ukraine (This particular aspect of the plan was immediately met with a cold shoulder by the White House yesterday). The alliance support for the proposal, which seeks to “Trump-proof” support for the Ukraine war in the event the former president is reflected and seeks to pull the plug on U.S. funding for Ukraine, is spit along lines one might expect, with support coming from the Baltics, Poland, and The Washington Post, and opposition from Hungary.

Critics, such as the legendary American diplomat Chas Freeman say that the plan is simply “a case of throwing good money—in this case, borrowed money—after bad."

One of the world’s most highly respected pathologists is raising the alarm after seeing cancers spreading rapidly in his patients after they’ve received Covid mRNA shots. Dr. Ryan Cole says he observed cancer diagnoses soaring since the rollout of the injections for public use in 2021. Before the mass vaccination campaign, Cole says his practice saw one endometrial cancer case every one to two months. However, after the public started receiving mRNA injections, he said he was overwhelmed with endometrial cancer patients. Dr. Cole saw an exponential increase in endometrial cancers in his practice, spiking to multiple cases per month. “And then one month, it was four or five in a month,” he said.

The renowned writer Arthur Koestler warned many years ago that Israel risked becoming `a nasty little Sparta.’ Half a century later Israel, grown rich on US military and financial aid, has become a very nasty big Sparta.

Pat Buchanan, President Richard Nixon’s close aide, wrote ‘Capitol Hill (i.e. Congress) has become Israeli-occupied territory.’ He has been exiled to the political wilderness for this heresy.

The current Gaza Conflict tells us just how much Israel now dominates Congress and the Democratic Party which gets a likely 50% of its funding from pro-Israel donors. Moderate pro-Israel groups have been marginalized. Those in the media have been sidelined or fired. It’s the McCarthyism of the 21st century. As the great Mark Twain said, if you don’t read the US media you are uninformed. If you do follow America’s media, you are misinformed.

Britain, Canada and Australia fall into the same media prison. The old Soviet media, as I remember, was freer in its opinions and more robust in its criticism.

Russia and NATO are now in “direct confrontation”, the Kremlin said as the U.S.-led alliance marked its 75th anniversary on Thursday.

NATO’s successive waves of eastern enlargement are a fixation of President Vladimir Putin, who went to war in Ukraine two years ago with the stated aim of preventing the alliance from coming closer to Russia’s borders. Instead, the war has galvanised NATO, which has expanded again with the entry of Finland and Sweden.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “In fact, relations have now slipped to the level of direct confrontation.”

NATO was “already involved in the conflict surrounding Ukraine (and) continues to move towards our borders and expand its military infrastructure towards our borders”, he said.

Putin has repeatedly said that Russia was cheated by the West in the aftermath of the Cold War as Moscow’s Warsaw Pact alliance was disbanded but NATO moved eastwards by taking in former pact members and the three Baltic states that had been part of the Soviet Union.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday that more than 100,000 people have signed up to fight as contract soldiers in the war against Ukraine so far this year.

“Over the past week and a half, recruitment points have seen a significant increase in the number of people interested in signing contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry in order to take part in the special military operation,” the ministry said in a statement, using the Kremlin’s preferred term for its full-scale invasion.

It added that “around 16,000 citizens” had signed military contracts over the past 10 days alone, with “most candidates” saying they were motivated to “avenge those killed” in the Crocus City Hall attack late last month.

Each day the Russian Ministry of Defense reports the observed losses of the Ukrainian army. While the reported numbers are unlikely to be exact the reports are considered to be reliable and do tell a story.

In the first year of the war the Ukrainian army often lost more armored vehicles per day than general vehicles, i.e. trucks. By mid 2023 the numbers of armored vehicle and trucks destroyed per day, as reported by the MoD, were about equal. By the end of 2023 that ratio was on average two trucks per one armored vehicle. It has since increased further. Yesterday's report claimed 32 destroyed Ukrainian trucks but only 4 destroyed armored vehicles.

The numbers provide that the armed forces of Ukraine, as well as its allies, have run out of armored vehicles of all kinds.

A mechanized brigade is supposed to have some 100 armored (i.e. 'mechanized') vehicles of various kind plus some 30 tanks. An infantry brigade has, if its lucky, some unarmored trucks or buses.

The Federal Reserve is one of, if not the most, significant institutions in the world given the global impact of its policy decisions.

It influences the price of nearly everything, as well as the availability of jobs, the stability of our banking system, and the purchasing power of our money.

When the Fed Chair speaks, the entire world stops to listen.

But the average person has a poor understanding of how this colossally important entity operates. Or even why it exists.

And after a series of asset price bubbles -- which some argue we're in another one now -- a chorus skeptical of the Fed's actions has emerged.

Pro-freedom politicians and activists, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.Ron DeSantis, and Donald Trump, have expressed opposition to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)

And yet, CBDCs are coming whether we like them or not.

The United States won't let other nations create blockchain-based payment networks that leave the dollar in the dust. And it won’t allow adversaries like China to tout its model as technologically superior.

Today's public policy is driven by power, not nuanced research papers produced by think tanks. Just as they pursue industrial policies that strengthen the state’s grip on the economy, the regime will introduce a CBDC. They must, because to hold power they need to shore up the American ability to manipulate global markets – regardless of the negative consequences for personal freedom of everyday people in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Given the recent rapid advancement of money technology, standing athwart history and yelling Stop (however well-intentioned) is unproductive. Government money protocols will continue to be developed, and continue to centralize power over the economy.

Update(1831ET): With Israel's embassies around the world on a heightened state of alert, and extra IDF reservists called up, and home and weekend leave for all combat troops having been abruptly canceled Thursday, the Israeli population is anxiously awaiting a response - with some reports saying residents are already seeking the safety of bomb shelters.

Tehran has vowed that vengeance is coming soon for the Monday Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Damascus. Most pundits believe this will take the form of ballistic missiles raining down on Israeli cities. But Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly vowing that if the Islamic Republic launches missiles from its soil it will ensure "a strong response" from Israel.

Israeli officials have told Axios late in the day that such an act would "take the current conflict to another level" — which most certainly would involve a direct Israel-Iran war and thus the eruption of a broader regional conflict. Axios adds the following observations:

  • Iranian proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Gaza have attacked Israel but there hasn't been an attack from Iranian soil.
  • A direct Iranian strike on Israel would be unprecedented and could lead to a regional war in the Middle East.

Netanyahu informed his security cabinet Thursday that Israel's forces have already been engaged with Iran "both directly and via its proxies, and therefore Israel is operating against Iran and its proxies, both defensively and offensively."

Due to the sanctions, Russia cannot access spare parts from Western engineering companies that have provided refinery equipment in the past, leaving Russian refiners struggling to repair damaged units, multiple industry sources in Russia have told Reuters.

Western firms including America’s UOP and Swiss ABB have supplied parts and equipment to major Russian refineries in the past. After the invasion of Ukraine, they no longer fulfill new orders from Russia, leaving local engineers scrambling to find spare parts and equipment.

One example of such difficulty is Lukoil’s Norsi refinery in Nizhny Novgorod on the Volga River. A turbine malfunctioned there in early January and Russian engineers have struggled to have the equipment replaced since then, according to Reuters sources.

This has left the refinery with a reduced capacity to produce gasoline.

The malfunction at the refinery compounded last month after a fire broke out at the facility following a drone attack.

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory researchers found the promise of coating the inner surface of the vessel containing a fusion plasma in liquid lithium guides them toward the best practices for fueling their plasmas.

The research, which is featured in a new paper in Nuclear Fusion, includes observations, numerical simulations and analysis from their experiments inside a fusion plasma vessel called the Lithium Tokamak Experiment-Beta (LTX-β). (Please note, there is a dearth of attention grabbing media available for this post, however, the research paper at posting is not behind a paywall.)

One team at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) has been asking themselves lately as a metaphor, “How much fuel can we add to the fire while still maintaining control?”

Now, they believe they have the answer for one particular scenario. It’s all a part of the Lab’s work to bring energy from fusion to the power grid.

You know that the Administration of President Joe Biden has reached a new low when it takes the initiative to lie for Israel even when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is accepting some blame for the targeted killing of six foreign national aid workers and a Palestinian translator belonging to Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen humanitarian “feed the hungry” charitable organization. Bear in mind that that the Israeli army has killed without any regrets expressed at least 196 aid and relief workers in its onslaught on all living creatures located in Gaza, as well as nearly every journalist that crosses its path and doctors and medical staff in hospitals attempting to save lives and treat the injured and dying. On this rare occasion, however, Netanyahu realized that the calculated way in which the predominantly foreign victims had been killed with three separate drone strikes directed against three well-marked and easily identifiable World Central Kitchen vehicles following a route pre-approved and declared to be safe by the Israeli army itself would heighten the already legitimate extreme loathing of the Jewish state and all its works worldwide. Make no mistake these seven workers were deliberately targeted, hunted down and murdered. And it was no accident or a case of poor communications as this was all carried out by an Israeli military unit under the direct control of senior officers in a bid to hasten the starvation of the Palestinian population by driving away relief organizations.

Since the start of his term, Joe Biden has allowed millions of illegal aliens into the country. It seemed Democrats were content with making red states deal with this crisis. But once migrants started showing up in blue cities and states, the left melted down.

Because they are “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens, these states can’t call for the deportation of these migrants. Yet, Democrats appear woefully unprepared to deal with this crisis.

But until the border is closed, this problem will only get worse. Democrat cities have run out of money to accommodate migrants. And many migrants have rejected the jobs Democrats have been taking from Americans to give them. Now, a group of Venezuelan migrants staged a protest in a community center—making wild demands.

From The Post Millennial:
Dozens of illegal immigrants and local activists occupied a rec area at a Seattle community center and public school, demanding someone pick up the tab for the hotel where they had been staying.

Sources told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI that staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation arrived at the Garfield Community Center Wednesday morning to find the Venezuelan illegal immigrants in tents on the tennis courts. The property is shared with Garfield High School in the Seattle Public School district.

The Biden administration approved another weapons package for Israel this week that includes thousands of bombs as US military aid continues to flow unimpeded to support the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

A Biden administration official told Reuters that arms shipment includes 1,000 MK82 500-pound bombs, more than 1,000 small-diameter bombs, and fuses for MK80 bombs. The bombs will be delivered by the end of the year.

The bombs were approved on Monday, the same day Israel bombed Iran’s consulate in Syria and killed aid workers who were employed by the World Central Kitchen. The Seven WCK workers, including an American citizen, were killed by three Israeli missile strikes while traveling a route pre-approved by the Israeli military.

Last week, Biden approved new munition shipments to Israel, including 2,000-pound bombs, and an F-35 deal worth $2.5 billion. He is expected to approve another major arms deal that includes 50 F-15 fighter jets and will be worth $18 billion.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Thursday that the death toll in the US-backed Israeli campaign has surpassed 33,000, which includes about 14,500 children. The figure is considered a low estimate since it doesn’t include thousands who are dead under the rubble

Data quietly published by a host of countries across Europe reveals that excess deaths among children are still occurring at an alarming rate as we enter the spring of 2024. The deaths cannot be blamed on COVID-19 because the data has proven the alleged virus and disease rarely harms children, if at all. And the terrible trend only began when the European Medicines Agency extended Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) of the COVID-19 vaccines to children in the middle of Spring of 2021.

For years, Democrats have been fighting to raise the minimum wage. While most states have raised this minimum, the national limit is $7.50 an hour. Liberal activists have demanded $15 an hour. Some progressives want even more.

At a time when inflation is destroying entire industries, forcing companies to raise prices higher and higher—Democrats seem to think they can limitless cash to give to low-skilled workers.

In one blue state, a new law just went into effect. It has raised the minimum wage all the way to $20 an hour. While fast food workers celebrated the news, companies made a dire warning. This “victory” could end up putting many out of work.

From The Post Millennial:
The California Fast Food Workers Union held a rally on Wednesday celebrating the state requiring fast food workers to be paid at least $20 per hour…

Some companies and managers have warned that the pay increase will come alongside cut hours for employees…

Companies such as Jack in the Box, Chipotle, McDonald’s, and Starbucks have warned that the wage increase could inflate menu prices by between 2.5 and 3.5 percent. Pizza Hut has warned around 1,000 workers that they could lose their jobs.

President Biden has been quoted as saying that the U.S. economy is “strong as hell.” He even claimed during his SOTU that America’s economy is the “envy of the world.” His administration has been trying to convince Americans that things are going great—they just don’t know it.

But despite this level of gaslighting from the White House, Americans continue to struggle. Wages are down, employment is low, and illegal aliens are forcing Americans to compete for housing, food, and jobs.

And now, one of Biden’s biggest blunders is coming back to haunt him. This problem was directly caused by Biden’s decisions. He hastily tried to fix it in the past—by giving up precious resources. But now, he has nothing left to address it.

From Breitbart:
The nationwide average price for regular gas topped $3.54 a gallon, a spike of more than 45 percent under President Joe Biden, AAA reported Wednesday.

In the past month, gas prices rose 20 cents ($3.34), about one dollar more expensive ($2.38) than when Trump left office.

World Central Kitchen has responded to the findings of the IDF probe into the killing of 7 of its aid workers, saying that Israel's military had taken "important steps forward" but that its apologies will be "cold comfort" for the victims' families.

The charity said that it is demanding "the creation of an independent commission to investigate the killings of our WCK colleagues," adding that "The IDF cannot credibly investigate its own failure in Gaza."

The disaster relief group's founder José Andrés said: “It’s not enough to simply try to avoid further humanitarian deaths, which have now approached close to 200." He added: “All civilians need to be protected, and all innocent people in Gaza need to be fed and safe. And all hostages must be released.”

Two pro-Israel groups are launching new campaigns against former GOP Rep. John Hostettler of Indiana, who is looking to return to Congress nearly 20 years after leaving office.

The Republican Jewish Coalition and the United Democracy Project, a super PAC tied to the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, announced this week they are launching ads targeting the former congressman, who is part of a crowded field of Republicans competing to succeed retiring GOP Rep. Larry Bucshon.

“John Hostettler has a terrible record on Israel that is way out of line with the voters in Indiana’s 8th District,” United Democracy Project spokesperson Patrick Dorton told NBC News. “The voters deserve to know his ‘out of the mainstream’ track record on this issue.”
