French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has ordered 13,000 police officers into the streets of France’s major cities as protests against the government’s controversial pension reforms continue. Darmanin said that he is expecting “radical activists” from abroad to instigate violence at the demonstrations.

Darmanin announced the deployment on Monday night, adding that 5,000 of the mobilized officers would be stationed in Paris ahead of marches on Tuesday.

“Our services anticipate that there will be significant disruption to public order,” he said, warning that “more than 1,000 radical activists, some arriving from abroad, may join the protests in Paris, Nantes or Rennes.”

France will double the number of 155mm rounds it supplies to Ukraine to 2,000 per month starting March, Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu has announced.

These rounds are compatible with French-made Caesar and German Pzh 2000 self-propelled howitzers supplied to Ukraine by NATO allies. Ukraine has been unleashing "industrial quantities" of these shells at the territories controlled by Russia, Le Figaro daily reported.

Lecornu told Le Figaro in an interview that Paris would "deliver land-based equipment needed for Ukraine's counteroffensive. That means we are doubling deliveries of 155mm rounds to bring their number up to 2,000 per month starting late March.

The Senate is expected to vote on an amendment this week introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) that would appoint a special inspector general to oversee the over $113 billion that has been authorized to spend on the war in Ukraine.

Hawley said the ideal candidate for the position would be John Sopko, who has served as the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction since 2012 and has issued scathing reports on US policy and waste in Afghanistan.

“He’s done a terrific job – maybe he’d like to do this job. I mean, he already knows how to do it. And that’s winding down,” Hawley said of Sopko in comments to Fox News Digital. “Maybe he’d like to shift over to Ukraine. I think that would probably be my first choice, but somebody like him, who’s been tough, tenacious, and independent.”

The President of the USA Joseph Biden has repeatedly visited the USSR and Russia during his almost half-century political career. On January 15, 1988, a meeting was held between Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Andrei Gromyko and American Senator Biden in the Kremlin. It was mainly devoted to the upcoming ratification of the Soviet-American treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles.

The Russian state media covered the meeting, emphasizing the Kremlin’s position on the signing of the treaty:

The claim that sanctions, the ICC arrest warrant against President Putin, and other unfriendly actions by the West have had no effect on Russian political reality is fundamentally false.

After the collapse of the USSR, the new economic elites of Russia aligned themselves firmly with the West. Flattering themselves that they would be whole-heartedly embraced by the Western global aristocracy, they felt little solidarity with their less-fortunate compatriots, and were happy to enable the merciless colonial exploitation of Russia that prevailed in the last decade of the 20th century. The country plunged into chaos, and the poverty of the ordinary people became a stark contrast to the glitter of the oligarchy.

It could not go on like this for long. The excesses of the exploiters provoked the rise of a new political class, determined to restore the nation’s sovereignty, and, after Putin came to power, the country began the long hard crawl back to self-respect. Amongst the first signs of this was a new determination to rein in the most odious oligarchs, some of whom were forced to relinquish the assets acquired so cheaply during the mis-managed privatizations. Some even left the country, bitterly complaining that the times had turned against them.

The UN Security Council’s decision not to support the Russian-Chinese resolution on an international investigation into last year’s sabotage attacks on the Nord Steam pipelines is creating a dangerous precedent, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin has said.

"Efforts of Western countries have created a dangerous precedent. Instead of consolidating the international struggle against terrorism and crime, they have set a course towards differentiating it on the basis of nationality, devaluing related international documents and political agreements," he said in an interview to Denmark’s Ritzaus Bureau news agency, published on Tuesday.

"Supported by the international law and the existing diplomatic mechanisms, Russia will continue to press for a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased investigation into all aspects of the sabotage acts, including identification of its perpetrators, their sponsors, organizers and abettors," the Russian diplomat added.

The US administration is doing its best to prevent an independent investigation that would reveal the truth about last year’s sabotage attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, the Russian Embassy in the United States said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We took note of yet another round of statements by US Administration regarding alleged sufficiency of the ‘independent’ national investigations, conducted by European countries into the explosions of the ‘Nord Stream’ gas pipelines," the embassy said. "We see in this an obvious attempt by the authorities to hide behind the backs of the allies, to do everything possible to undermine efforts to find out the true circumstances behind the act of sabotage."

Washington also intends "to stop the circulation of information by respected journalists about possible US intelligence agencies’ direct involvement into the organization of this ‘crime of the century’ against critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea," Russian diplomats said.

"The Administration’s assurances of full confidence in the ‘thorough’ investigations by allied states are not trustworthy, especially taking into account the refusal to grant to our country - the owner of the gas pipelines - access to these proceedings and, in fact, blocking of the joint appeal by Russia, China, and Brazil at the UN Security Council to launch a full-fledged international investigation," the embassy’s statement continues.

A large-scale command-and-staff exercise of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces, involving more than 3,000 servicemen, began in Russia on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry told journalists.

"Overall, the exercise will involve over 3,000 servicemen and about 300 items of military hardware. A commission of the Strategic Missile Forces’ command will assess cohesion among the personnel fulfilling their tasks," the ministry said.

The exercise is carried out in line with the 2023 combat training schedule.

Maneuvers will take place on the territory of three Russian regions.

The Republican lawmaker overseeing the House investigation into the ongoing banking crisis told an influential bank lobbying group last week that it was "hackish" to blame deregulation for recent bank failures — including the collapse of an institution that’s been his top individual source of campaign cash.

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), who has received $275,000 in donations since 2013 from executives at Signature Bank, will lead the House Financial Services Committee’s first hearing on Wednesday looking into the sudden failures of Signature Bank and Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) earlier this month.

One key factor in Signature Bank’s collapse was its decision to aggressively pursue cryptocurrency companies’ deposits before the crypto market imploded. McHenry, who benefited last election cycle from nearly $170,000 in spending by a pro-crypto super PAC, has been an avid supporter of the industry, which is built around digital money or assets.

The United Nations Human Rights Counsel says that there are human rights violations happening in Libya, according to a new report. The report describes a "generalized practice" of arbitrary detention, murder, torture, rape, slavery and forced disappearance in the country since 2016. Who is doing this? The report points the finger at the European Union and its member states for "directly or indirectly, [providing] monetary and technical support and equipment, such as boats, to the Libyan Coast Guard and the Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration that was used in the context of interception and detention of migrants." The report does not mention the Obama administration's role in destabilizing Libya and backing the overthrow of Moammar Gaddafi.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s congressional Twitter account was suspended Tuesday after apparently being swept up in a platform-wide crackdown on posts referencing a so-called “Trans Day Of Vengeance” protest in the wake of a Nashville school shooting carried out by a transgender former student.

The far-right lawmaker shared a screenshot from her personal Twitter account, which remains active, showing that her government account was hit with a seven-day ban for violating Twitter’s rules on “violent speech.”

In the offending tweet, Greene (R-Ga.) shared an image of a poster promoting an April 1 protest organized by group called Our Rights DC that seeks to “Stop Trans Genocide.”

The Georgia Republican accused Twitter of trying to “whitewash” violence promoted by far-left groups on social media.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee has served Secretary of State Antony Blinken with a subpoena for a classified document from diplomats in Kabul warning the Afghan government was at risk of collapse as the last American troops prepared to exit.

It marks a significant escalation in the GOP probe of how the Biden administration handled the tumultuous U.S. withdrawal.

The Republican chairman of the committee, Rep. Mike McCaul, said in a statement Monday night that the panel "made multiple good faith attempts to find common ground" with Blinken to allow lawmakers to see what's called a "dissent cable" sent to State Department leadership in July 2021 as well as Blinken's reply, calling the communication "a critical piece of information."

A case has been brought before the Supreme Court asking justices to rule on the constitutionality of a Washington state law that prohibits therapists from advising their patients against transitioning to a different gender, Fox News is reporting.

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a non-profit civil rights organization, filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Monday on behalf of Brian Tingley, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Washington state. Tingley argues that the state law is unconstitutional because it prohibits private discussions between client and counselor regarding sexual orientation and gender, the outlet noted.

The group argued that the state law only allows for a one-way conversation regarding gender transitions.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said Tuesday it’s too early to say whether the Monday shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, will be investigated as a hate crime.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., suggested earlier in the say that authorities should treat it as a hate crime that targeted students and staff at the private Christian school. But when asked by Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., if federal officials would open up a hate crime investigation, Garland told him a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing that it’s too early to determine motive.

A Wisconsin man has been charged in last year's firebomb attack of a pro-life center in Madison, Wisconsin, according to a Tuesday press release from the Department of Justice.

During the May 2022 attack on Wisconsin Family Action, Vandals threw a Molotov cocktail inside the building and then started a separate fire when it didn't ignite, investigators told Fox News Digital at the time. Photos showed the exterior of the building was also tagged in cursive: "if abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either."

According to the DOJ's release, Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, of Madison, is charged with one count of attempting to cause damage by means of fire or an explosive, and was arrested earlier on Tuesday in Boston.
