"Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? Where is the difference between having our arms under our own possesion and under our own direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" -- Patrick Henry
In a controversial move, the Biden regime’s Department of Agriculture (USDA) has allocated $130,000 in federal funds to support research into cultivating crickets as a protein source using municipal landfill waste.
A leading member of a Canadian centre-Left party supporting Justin Trudeau’s minority Government has tabled a bill seeking to jail people who speak out in favour of hydrocarbon fuels. Charlie Angus is a leading member of the NDP party which has 25 seats in the Canadian Parliament, and his bill seeks to ban the commercial promotion of hydrocarbons by any means “that is likely to influence and shape attitudes, beliefs and behaviours about the product or service”. Angus’s bill (C-372) is given the Orwellian title of ‘An Act respecting fossil fuel advertising’, and under this proposed anti-free speech measure, a gas station retailer could be fined C$50,000 for offering a complementary coffee and doughnut with every full tank.
If you thought the British had it bad under lockdown, have a thought for the Malaysians. Forced to stay at home with no furlough payments, they were told to cash in their pensions. The result is they cannot now retire.
Truck drivers transport between 70% to 73% of all freight in the United States. Therefore, when truckers begin discussing plans on social media to boycott loads to progressive hellhole New York City, it's important to pay attention.
X user Chicago1Ray, who appears to be a Midwest truck driver, shared a video late Friday night detailing that a number of truck drivers will begin denying loads to NYC on Monday.
"I don't know how far across the country this is - or how many truckers are going start denying loads to NYC - but I'll tell you - you f**k around and find out," Chicago1Ray said.
NATO weapons supplied to Kiev are being widely used in Israel, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has said.
"Well, well, my Nato friends, there you have it, don’t you? The weapons supplied to the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine are being widely used in Israel," he wrote on his Telegram channel. Medvedev warned that this weaponry, "like the weapons left behind by the US forces that fled Afghanistan," would further be used uncontrollably in all trouble spots.
Medvedev noted that even before "the corrupt Ukrainian authorities were in the habit of trading everything they laid hands on."
Satellite images show Egypt levelling land and building a wall along its border with the Gaza Strip near the Rafah crossing. The construction suggests Egypt is preparing for a possible influx of displaced Palestinians, amid fears that Israel’s planned ground invasion of Rafah could push thousands across the line.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has forecast a right-wing resurgence in Europe that will “occupy Brussels” and “Make Europe great again.” Hungary will take over the EU’s rotating presidency in July, after European Parliament elections in June.
“The stage of world politics at the end of the year will show a completely different picture than it does now,” Orban said during his annual state of the nation address on Saturday. Citing the US presidential election in November and the European Parliament elections in June, Orban predicted that “Hungary’s room for maneuver will not decrease, but will expand.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intervened last year to prevent European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen from becoming NATO’s next secretary general, Germany’s Die Welt newspaper has said. Scholz reportedly felt that von der Leyen’s hardline anti-Russian stance would be a problem “in the long term.”
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg received a fourth extension to his term as head of the military bloc last July. While Stoltenberg may remain in office until October, the alliance’s leaders have already begun jockeying to replace him.
At the end of last year, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken suggested von der Leyen to President Joe Biden as a potential replacement, Welt reported on Saturday. Biden approached Scholz with the idea, but was shot down, the report claimed, citing “several high-ranking EU officials and top diplomats.
“Scholz was categorically against von der Leyen becoming NATO chief,” one of these sources said. The German chancellor reportedly told Biden that the position of secretary-general is too important “to leave to a Christian Democrat from Germany,” and that von der Leyen’s antagonism toward Moscow “could prove to be a disadvantage in the long term,” in the newspaper’s words.
Pro-Russian underground saboteurs launched another attack on the Ukrainian military. The target was a military train of the Armed Forces of Ukraine i in the Vinnytsia region.
The local sources reported that Ukrainian military echelon loaded with 155 mm shells and missiles was derailed near the village of Serebria.
The train with ammunition and other military equipment was reportedly coming from Romania to the Ukrainian frontlines. As a result of the attack, a wagon with ammunition exploded and fire damaged a large amount of military equipment. The railway was blocked in the region.
Once considered impregnable, the KEY city for Ukraine defense, Avdiivka, the most heavily fortified city on the entire planet, has fallen to the Russian Army. Avdiivka, shown on the map below, has been conquered in what observers say is a "complete rout" of the Ukraine Army.
Within hours, the bloodiest battle of the 21st century (so far) will be over.
For those who have not kept up on developments in the Russian Special Military Operation (SMO), Avdiivka is the place from which the Ukrainian Army has shelled the civilians of Donetsk City for TEN YEARS!
There are going to be lots of tactical, strategic, and political implications from this that we will see over the next days and weeks.
There are reportedly very FEW Ukrainian defenses behind Avdiivka; the Ukrainians put all their eggs into one basket, counting on the deep Soviet-era nuclear bunker system, and defenses built since the end of the civil war to make it "impregnable."
ALL of those defenses have failed and the Russian Army now controls the city.
The State Department has formally designated the Houthis as a terrorist organization, which gives Washington new powers to thwart the group's access to the global financial system.
The new label of Specially Designated Global Terrorist group against the Yemeni Shia rebel militia backed by Iran was implemented Friday, coming weeks after a mid-January warning was issued by the State Department.
It also comes following months of Houthi drone and missile attacks on both commercial vessels and Western warships patrolling the Red Sea.
On Thursday in the latest response, the US military struck three Houthi anti-ship cruise missile systems that US Central Command (CENTCOM) said were preparing to launch.
The new designation is controversial among some humanitarian aid groups working in Yemen, as detailed in The New York Times:
Last month, Mr. Blinken announced the State Department’s intent to return the Houthis to its terrorism list, but delayed the action for 30 days. The pause was intended in part to give humanitarian aid groups working in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen time to ensure that their work does not run afoul of new sanctions from the United States that will punish anyone who provides support to the militant group. Some aid groups have warned that their work will inevitably be constrained in a country with dire humanitarian needs
Claire's Observations: Translation: More innocent women and children are about to starve to death in Yemen.
According to reports, the Russian advance is developing in the areas of Robotino and Verbovoe. Clashes are also allegedly ongoing in several nearby part of the frontline.
Meanwhile, Kyiv’s forces continue to respond to the setbacks on the frontline with attacks on civilian areas. At least four people have been killed and six others injured in a Ukrainian strike in the town of Panteleymovka, Denis Pushilin, the head of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said.
In a Telegram post, Pushilin said the strike on the settlement, which is around 40km north of Donetsk, caused half of a two-story residential building to collapse and a fire to break out. There was a 15-year-old girl among the killed civilians and a 11-year-old girl was among the wounded.
The US Justice Department has handed almost $500,000 in forfeited Russian funds to Estonia, from where the money will be used to help repair Ukraine’s power grid. The transfer was the first of its kind, and effectively used Estonia as a middleman to skirt US laws forbidding a direct donation to Ukraine.
The money was used by a Latvian machining and welding company to purchase a jig grinder from a Connecticut-based firm in 2018, before a group of Latvian and Ukrainian smugglers attempted to move it into Russia, in violation of US export restrictions, the Justice Department said in a statement on Saturday.
The device – which can be exported to the EU but not elsewhere due to its “applications in nuclear proliferation and defense programs,” was intercepted by the US and Latvian authorities before it reached Russia, the department stated. A Latvian man was arrested in 2022 and extradited to Connecticut, where he pleaded guilty to violating export controls last week.
These are difficult times. Day after day, a shocking genocide is unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. Israel is nurturing a psychotic seizure as its “functional response” to the trauma of October 7. We have already become accustomed to living in the heart of an apartheid regime, oppression, and wars that have shed rivers of blood, but the death and destruction that Israel is inflicting today upon the residents of the Gaza Strip are much worse than anything we have seen before in the history of “the conflict.”
At the time of this writing, the United States has not only done nothing to stop the massacre of Gaza’s residents but has increased arms shipments to Israel. It has also directly participated in the war and has recruited its allies to do so as well by demonstrating its power against convenient and non-threatening victims such as Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.
Poland’s political class has been at the forefront of EU and NATO’s efforts to absorb Ukraine into the West’s orbit, actively supporting the 2014 Euromaidan coup, and sending military and economic aid to Kiev for NATO’s proxy war against Russia. But many ordinary Poles are weary of the impact these policies have on their economic well-being.
The agricultural sectors of the EU’s eastern flank would be crushed if Ukraine was admitted into the European Union, former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller has warned.
“Let’s imagine what would happen if Ukraine joins the European Union and there is no way to control and regulate the inflow of goods. This would mean that Polish agriculture, but also Romanian, Bulgarian and Slovak agriculture would receive very painful, even fatal blows. Because no one can compete with Ukrainian production,” Miller said in an interview with Polish media this week.
RFK Jr. Scores Big Win In Lawsuit Accusing Biden Admin Of Censoring COVID Vaccine Info
Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has notched a victory in his legal battle against alleged government censorship of statements he made on social media that were critical of the COVID-19 vaccines.
A federal court has granted a preliminary injunction against the White House and other federal defendants in a lawsuit brought by Mr. Kennedy Jr. that accuses the Biden administration of orchestrating a campaign to pressure social media platforms to censor vaccine criticism.
Judge Terry A. Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana issued the ruling on Feb. 14, stating that Mr. Kennedy Jr. has demonstrated a strong likelihood of success in proving government infringement on his free speech rights.
The injunction prevents the defendants—which include the White House, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the FBI—from taking any actions to coerce social media companies to remove or suppress content containing protected free speech.
The injunction remains on hold for the time being, however, as the proceeding in Mr. Kennedy Jr.’s lawsuit has been consolidated with the case of Missouri v. Biden, which is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. The freeze will be in place for 10 days after the Supreme Court rules in Missouri v. Biden, which is based on the same evidence.
The defendants have, in prior public statements, denied illegally leaning on social media companies to stifle protected free speech.
The claims about Russian space-based nuclear weapons unraveled to become a joke. Fortunately, the death of Western-sponsored dissident Alexei Navalny then occurred to enable Western media to go into a frenzy of anti-Russia headlines.
First up was the scaremongering story about Russia allegedly developing a space-based nuclear weapon. Initially, it was dramatically trailed as posing a serious national security threat to the United States. Despite the sensational reporting, the story quickly became a laughingstock. Even some U.S. lawmakers dismissed it as “bullshit” and a blatant attempt by the Biden White House and intelligence agencies to push Congress into passing a new mega military aid bill for Ukraine worth $61 billion.
We’ll get to the Navalny story in a moment. But let’s just first parse the orchestration of the alleged Russian space nukes.
Banks, governments, and businesses would face failure due to the essential role of fossil fuels in the economy.
Critical infrastructure like electricity, internet, and trade systems would collapse without fossil fuel support.
Agriculture and home heating would become inefficient and inaccessible to many, leading to widespread social upheaval.
It is now popular to talk about leaving fossil fuels to prevent climate change. Pretty much the same result occurs if we run short of fossil fuels: We lose fossil fuels, but it is because we cannot extract them. Practically no one tells us about the extent to which the current system depends upon fossil fuels, however.
The economy is extraordinarily dependent on fossil fuels. If there are not enough fossil fuels to go around, there is likely to be fighting over what is available. Some countries are likely to get far more than their fair share, while the rest of the world’s population will be left with very little or no fossil fuels.
If losing fossil fuels completely, or nearly completely, is a risk for some of the world’s population, it might be useful to think through some of the things that go wrong
On the bustling streets of France, a new legislative proposal is stirring both curiosity and concern among its citizens. As of today, French lawmakers are deliberating on a law that could radically change the landscape of public health discourse in the country. This proposed legislation aims to criminalize the criticism of mRNA Covid vaccines, a move that carries with it the weight of up to a year in prison and a hefty fine of 45,000 euros. At its core, this development is not just about a law; it’s a pivotal moment that tests the balance between safeguarding public health and preserving the bedrock of democracy: freedom of speech.
