"In this and like communities, public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it, nothing can succeed. Consequently, he who molds public sentiment goes deeper than he who enacts statutes or pronounces decisions." -- Abraham Lincoln

Ukraine’s armed forces need more long-range weapons to be able to hit targets deep behind the frontline, Germany’s foreign minister has said, as Russia makes gains on the battlefield.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of European foreign ministers in Strasbourg, Annalena Baerbock described the military situation in north-east Ukraine as “highly dramatic” amid reports that Vladimir Putin’s forces are making significant advances of up to 10 kilometers in one place.

She said it is important to provide weapons “that can be used over medium and long distances” — a remark likely to be seen as putting more pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles. These weapons are more effective than counterparts supplied by Britain and France in targeting reinforced bunkers and bridges but Scholz has so far ruled out sending them to Kyiv.

The top prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top Hamas leaders as the war in Gaza continues.

The requests, made by Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan, must be approved by the ICC's judges. Still, the announcement is a blow to Israel's prestige in general and specifically to Netanyahu's government.

Observers have speculated that the ICC might charge the Israeli government with obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and responding excessively to Hamas' terror attack on Oct. 7, 2023.

An Israeli official speaking to The New York Times admitted that if the ICC issues any warrants, it would be seen as a “humbling moral rebuke” by a significant part of the international community. The possibility of the ICC taking such action has likely influenced the recent decision-making of the Israeli authorities.

Chaney, who has more than 135,000 followers on the controversial platform, claimed that the Washington airport worker suddenly walked away from the plane when she saw Chaney get off the plane, according to the social media post.

Chaney claimed that "[a]s I approached her and she realized she’d be assisting me and not one of the smaller passengers she started to walk away with the wheelchair while making comments about my size."

The twist is that Chaney is actually able to walk. But she said she was "blatantly ignored" by the worker, which forced her to walk up "one of the longest jet bridges I've encountered."

I once had a favorite meme I would push out as kind of a tongue-in-cheek that said “When exposing a crime is treated as committing a crime, you are ruled by criminals”. Seemed pretty funny at the time.

Today, not so funny. In fact, what we are experiencing is very real.

Let’s take a look at the definition of tyranny according to legaldictionary.net:

  1. An oppressive or severe form of government
  2. An unrestrained use of authority or power
  3. A state ruled by, or government of, an absolute ruler
  4. Excessive severity
  5. Cruel and unfair treatment by someone in authority

What we lack in the world, not just the United States, is a system of checks and balances. Governments are out of control as they care very little about the laws they have established unless it relates to you the citizen, and they certainly give complete disregard for the voting system as we are finding out they have been manipulating the outcomes to meet their agenda for quite some time.

Our rights to free speech are all but gone and our ability to assemble peacefully is now seen as extremism. Think about it for a minute, when Patriots assemble to voice their concern, they have to worry that either the assembly will be infiltrated by people seeking to create a negative image of them, or those same people causing violence, thus putting Patriots front and center as targets by their own government.

Marguerite Higgins was a war correspondent who covered significant events in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. She died in 1966 at the age of 45 from a tropical/subtropical disease she got in Vietnam. Her statement above might be applied to the Cold War; for it can be said that there are no real experts on the Cold War. It is so vast a subject, with so many moving parts, that few historians can see the whole of it (or the essence of it). Even a Cold War historian and master of the facts like John Lewis Gaddis revealed his inability to digest the terrifying truth about Soviet communism when he suggested the United States had overreacted to the Soviet threat. This overreaction was sincere, he explained, but then he added, “Fear, after all, can be genuine without being rational.”[ii]

Gaddis thought America had no rational reason to fear communism. Here we are left to question the historian’s rationality. Communist leaders have often stated their world revolutionary ambitions. But that was just talk, right? A liberal professor might say that we should consider the more pragmatic policies of Lenin and Stalin, which supposedly prove that they were always ready to make peace with capitalism. Here we are asked to forget the murderous criminality of the communist leaders, and to omit their aggressive schemes. The Nazis never got this same benefit of the doubt. John Lewis Gaddis would have never dared to write that the Western powers overreacted to Hitler’s aggression in 1939. A double standard is clearly visible in our historian’s treatment of the communists. This is because the communists are masters of information warfare, and they would never allow the West to employ selective memory when it comes to Nazi crimes. When it comes to communist crimes, however, we are encouraged to forget. We are not allowed to conclude that communism was and is as evil as Nazism.

Former President Donald Trump had a lot to say about President Joe Biden during his speech at the Minnesota Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner on Friday evening. A huge chunk of his criticism of the president had to do with Bidenomics and the rising inflation.

“Groceries are up 22 percent, eggs are up 50 percent, electricity’s up 40, 50, 60 percent, gasoline is up 56 percent, car insurance — you can’t even get it,” Trump stated.

“It’s up 52 percent if it’s available, and then if you need it, they don’t give it to you. They fight you like hell. And, meanwhile, real wages are down by almost five percent. This is what we have. This is Bidenomics,” Trump added.

Trump went on to note that inflation under the Biden administration has made it impossible for Americans to afford to buy homes, cars or even pay their rents.

“His inflation catastrophe is, in effect, a colossal tax on American families. We will call it the ‘Biden Inflation Tax. It’s the biggest tax in history. It’s called an inflation tax. It’s about 50 percent. This is like going to Congress and raising your hand for a 50 percent tax — that’s what it is. When I left office, and we had virtually no inflation we had nothing, only success,” Trump said.

The GOP presumptive nominee then said that the Biden price hikes are continuing to drain $1,165 dollars from the typical Minnesota family budget every single month.”
