Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with both President Biden and former President Trump during his visit to the United States.

Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that the Israeli leader would be meeting with Biden at the White House on Thursday at 1:00 pm Eastern Time. The meeting was initially scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed back as Biden has been recovering from COVID-19.

Trump initially said he would meet with Netanyahu on Thursday at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, but he later said it was pushed back to Friday at the Israeli leader’s request. “Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Netanyahu is also expected to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris, but a date and time haven’t been set. Harris will not be attending Netanyahu’s address to Congress on Wednesday since she will be in Indianapolis as part of her new presidential campaign, which was launched on Sunday after Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her.

Major protests are expected in Washington during Netanyahu’s address to Congress. Ahmad Abuznaid, executive director of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, told BBC that the protesters will “make the statement that war criminals like Netanyahu are not welcome” in the US.

Claire's Observations:  I hope and pray that all demonstrations planned remain peaceful.

Mike has a saying, which I believe is proven true frequently; at ANY demonstration, the person verbally advocating violence, and hurting other people or property, is most probably a plant from one of the US government's many alphabet soup agencies. Do NOT listen to them, please.

As deeply as the issue of Israeli genocide against primarily  helpless women and children cuts for many of us (Me, a Christian Pacifist Activist, who never advocates violence, included), peace and logic must be the behaviors of the day, when demonstrating.

Please;  cage the rage, and keep things calm.  This will help you make your case to a sometimes very ill-informed, and uneducated people about what this genocide is ultimately all about, which is two-fold.

First, it is about a depopulation of Gaza and the West Bank to "sell" it as part of the Israeli "homeland" for Israelis and Jews only;  and secondly, the amazing oil and natural gas reserves off Gaza's coast. https://researchcentre.trtworld.com/perspectives/israels-genocidal-war-on-gaza-is-also-about-oil-and-gas/

The mainstream media has, until now, played a key role in advancing the Global War on Cash - a war that began with no official declaration but in which propaganda, as with all wars, is a vital weapon.

Last week’s global IT outage appears to have shaken some British media outlets’ confidence in the idea of a fully cashless society. When a content update by the cyber-security giant CrowdStrike caused millions of Microsoft systems around the world to crash on Friday morning, bringing the operating systems of banks, payment card firms, airlines, hospitals, NHS clinics, retailers and hospitality businesses to a standstill, businesses were faced with a stark choice: go cash-only, or close until the systems came back online.

GOP Rep. William Timmons of South Carolina pressed Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle on Monday on reports that the Pittsburgh Secret Service field office sent four times the number of additional agents to cover a first lady Jill Biden event than to former President Donald Trump’s July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was shot.

Cheatle neither confirmed nor denied that was the case.

Biden was speaking at an event at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh for approximately 300 people close to the same time Trump was speaking at his rally attended by several thousand, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune.

Timmons started out his questioning of Cheatle asking if she agreed with the statement that Secret Service resources allocated to a particular events should correspond to the risk profile of it.

Hillary Clinton, who holds a spot in history as the country’s only female presidential nominee from a major party, is now hoping Kamala Harris can do what she couldn’t: defeat Donald Trump and break the “highest, hardest glass ceiling” in American politics.

Clinton, in an op-ed endorsing Harris in the New York Times, says she knows how Vice President Harris can do it this time.

“I know a thing or two about how hard it can be for strong women candidates to fight through the sexism and double standards of American politics,” Clinton wrote, championing Harris — who is now the likely Democratic nominee — as a “a savvy former prosecutor and successful vice president who embodies our faith that America’s best days are still ahead.”

The idea for this post comes from the Wall Street Journal article American Borrowers Are on Shakier Ground.

Years of higher inflation and interest rates have left consumers mired in debt, even as overall economy hums.

I dispute the Journal’s statement the “overall economy hums”.

If the economy was humming we would not see charts like I am about to present.

Unexpected Expenses

That chart is from the Federal Reserve Report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households

The report was updated May 21, 2024 but it it only through 2023. Zoomers and younger Millennials are in trouble.

Rot Starts at the Periphery

The Wall Street Journal comments Big Banks and Customers Continue to Feel Pressure From Higher Rates

JPMorgan’s second-quarter profit declined 9% year-over-year to $13.1 billion. That figure excludes one-time items, including a $7.9 billion gain on an exchange of the bank’s shares of Visa.

Credit-card loans rose faster than spending at all three banks, a sign that more borrowers carried over balances month to month.

“When you really dig into what’s happening across different consumers, the folks on the lower end of the wealth or income spectrum are struggling more,” Wells Fargo Chief Financial Officer Mike Santomassimo said on a call with reporters.

Now that the will of primary voters has been discarded and President Joe Biden has been pressured out of the race by the oligarchs and powerbrokers of the Democrat Party, what are the most potent lanes of valid criticism that could make an already deeply unpopular candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, even less palatable to sensible Americans?

Three major vulnerabilities of this radical and unscrutinized career politician are listed below.

But, first, a quick note on her dismal favorability ratings: According to the latest Civiqs polling, Harris is -22 points underwater on favorable/unfavorable, while Trump is at -12 points. The RealClear Polling averages also show Harris as far less favorably viewed than Trump — with her at -14.2 points and Trump at -10.9 points.

Also, Harris has somehow reached this nomination without enduring real political scrutiny, except for her dismal performance in the 2020 Democratic primaries, when her unpopularity forced her out of the race before she ever faced any voters in actual primary contests.

Vice President Kamala Harris backs hiking the current 21% federal corporate income tax rate to 35%, higher than socialist Venezuela’s 34% rate.

Vice President Harris’ plan is also significantly higher than President Biden’s proposed plan to hike the corporate rate to 28%. The Harris 35% rate would saddle America with one of the highest corporate income tax rates in the world, ten points higher than Communist China and tied with communist Cuba.

After adding state corporate income taxes, the combined federal-state rate under Harris amounts to about 39%, sticking American employers with a higher tax burden than our competitors and adversaries.

During her previous presidential campaign, then candidate Harris told members of an Iowa roundtable that the corporate tax rate has “got to” be increased.

Webmaster addition: Kamala is pandering to the "tax the rich" crowd, but here is what will happen. As happened in California, corporations will start fleeing the high taxes, thereby actually reducing revenues and increasing unemployment!

"If folks can put off a purchase they're doing that, but when they do need a car, now more so than a year ago, they're looking for ones that are less expensive because they are having to deal with higher interest rates," said Matt Smith, deputy editor, head of automotive insights at digital auto platform CarGurus.

Data from Bankrate shows the new auto 60mo average rate most recently peaked at 8%.

Data from consumer analytics company JD Power shows that in June, new cars sold at a premium versus the manufacturer's suggested retail price were around 16.9%, down from nearly 35% in the same month one year ago.

Federal Reserve data shows the average amount consumers financed for a new car is around $38.8k, down from $40k in 2022.

Bank of America economist Stephen Juneau said "rising supplies" and "moderating demand" are some of the reasons why "manufacturers try to get cars off the lot by offering much more attractive deals."

According to Automotive News, dealer inventory has been below 3 million vehicles for over four years. However, that's likely changing, with June data showing inventories climbed to 2.96 million vehicles, or about a 76-day supply, up from 1.95 million one year before.

Even though inventory levels are not back to pre-Covid levels, no dealer wants to sit on many unsold vehicles and will continue offering incentives. If the higher-for-longer interest rate environment continues through the end of the year, this could seriously pressure new auto prices. But as soon as the Federal Reserve begins cutting, which according to rate traders could be as early as September, increased demand will quickly soak up the supply and send prices higher.

Let's not forget there's a perfect storm brewing in the auto market, as the latest data shows auto repossessions are soaring.

"Ladies and gentlemen, time is running out. We have to act."

Speaking to a joint session of Congress, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was somber and his face was smooth. He was possessed of an absolute conviction about his mission.

"Unreconstructed dictatorships ... based on tyranny and intimidation" were terrorizing the Middle East, he warned. "The most dangerous of these regimes is Iran, that has wed a cruel despotism to a fanatic militancy." A nuclear armed Iran would be catastrophic for Israel, the Middle East and "for all of mankind." He urged the international community to isolate Iran, warned that deterrence might not be enough and that time was running out.

It was 1996.

Chinese film Biochemical Revelations 731, which delves into the horrific bacteriological experiments conducted by the Japanese army's Kwantung Army Chemical Department, also known as Unit 731, in Northeast China, is said to premiere on July 31 in the Chinese mainland. However, as of Tuesday, no information about the film's release has been found on major Chinese film platforms like Maoyan or Taopiaopiao.

Film experts noted that regardless of when it is released, the film is poised to be another significant medium for exposing the vile acts of Unit 731. The film's potential impact and educational value should not be overlooked. As a medium of communication, Biochemical Revolutions 731 is expected to be an important tool in revealing the actions of Unit 731.

Media has reported that the film has been meticulously researched and filmed over a decade with the aim of revealing the atrocities committed by the Japanese military through the lens of a small character's life, emphasizing the preciousness of peace and urging viewers to learn from history.

Authored by Andrew Phillips via RealClearEnergy,

The rise of AI data centers, growing electrification, and industrial growth is heralding a new era of U.S. power consumption. As our country advances, so too must our power grid. Building new transmission lines can take a significant amount of time and investment. With America’s growing power appetite not slowing down and an increasing need for renewables to meet net-zero targets, interim steps can be taken to ensure continued reliable, affordable electricity to keep pace with our growing economy.

Grid-enhancing technologies (GETs) can promote efforts to increase the capacity, efficiency, reliability, and safety of existing transmission lines. GETs are hardware and/or software that can reduce congestion costs and improve integration of renewables while increasing capacity and reliability. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, GETs can defer or reduce the need for significant investment in new infrastructure projects and increase the use of renewables by maximizing the capacity of the current infrastructure. Power companies are seeking all options for increasing delivery capacity to support energy transition objectives and large demand increases from AI and manufacturing growth. The recent Energy Future Forum, sponsored by RealClearEnergy, underscored the urgency of addressing these challenges (see the video linked above for the part from James Danly, previously Commissioner at FERC, on the subject).

As DOE noted in its October 2023 “National Transmission Needs Study,” there is a pressing need for additional transmission infrastructure in nearly all regions of the country. Specifically, the study projected regional transmission capacity will need to more than double to 20% by 2035 and interregional capacity will need to grow more than five-fold. According to the study, significant transmission deployment is needed as soon as 2030 in the Plains, Midwest, and Texas regions. By 2040, large deployments will also be needed in the Mountain, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast regions

Authored by Ryan McMaken via The Mises Institute,

President Biden has not been seen in public since announcing he would not seek re-election on Sunday. Biden’s “resignation” was nothing more than a text-only post on Twitter/X—and we know that the president does not manage his own social media accounts. There has been no video of the president making an announcement, and the White House is apparently planning no press conference or official act of any kind. Biden has not been seen by anyone except his inner circle in days.

(We can contrast this situation with Lyndon Johnson’s televised address announcing his withdrawal from the 1968 presidential campaign.)

This is, in the words of Glenn Greenwald, “strange.” Moreover, Biden’s silence is inexplicable if Biden actually made the decision to withdraw from the race. After all, Greenwald, notes, if Biden is “well enough to decide, then he’s well enough to speak.” Yet, following one of the most important announcements of his political career, Biden has disappeared, and few things could better illustrate how irrelevant Biden now is to the matter of who is actually running the executive branch of the United States government.

(We do have some audio of him speaking on a Monday phone call.)

A chain of events like this is characteristic of a palace coup—something along the lines of the 1991 August Coup in the Soviet Union, had it succeeded. In such cases, the chief executive is marginalized and replaced at the discretion of high-ranking bureaucrats and elites from within the ruling government itself.

It’s too early to get many facts about the details of what threats may have been used against Biden to get him to effectively step aside in favor of Kamala Harris.  What we do know, however, is that the president is essentially absent and it is Harris who is conducting public events at the White House

So, who is running the executive branch and the White House?

The fact that Biden himself is clearly not equipped for such a task has been undeniable since his performance at the presidential debate with Donald Trump last month.

Since then, the official gaslighting propaganda about how Biden is “sharp as a tack“ has been exposed as an obvious lie.

Biden’s lack of any meaningful presence on the public stage does make it clear that someone other than Biden is running the White House, and someone is making decisions about policy. This could be an individual who is the de facto president, or it could be a group of people. If it is a group of people it is unknown if this group if coordinating decisions, of if these people are simply making decisions haphazardly as needed. Joe Biden’s inability to answer even basic questions during the debate makes it clear that Biden is not the one making these decisions, and he’s not equipped to manage the federal bureaucracy in any meaningful sense.

For example, the White House yesterday released a memorandum further outsourcing the president’s duties to the State Department and the Treasury Department. That is, according to the memo, “the functions and authorities vested in the President by sections ... of the Rebuilding Economic Prosperity and Opportunity for Ukrainians Act” are delegated to technocrats. The president apparently can’t even personally make decisions in areas that the White House calls a priority.

For all the regime’s talk about “democracy,” it is undeniable at this point that the White House is actually run by unseen, unelected personnel who function in the shadows and are accountable only to the elites within their own ruling coalition.

A court in Florida has rejected a bid from members of the Pulitzer Prize Board to throw out a case brought against them by former President Donald Trump.

Former President Donald Trump arrives at the 2024 Road to Majority Conference in Washington on June 22, 2024. (Madalina Vasiliu/The Epoch Times)

The board’s statement in 2022 standing behind its awards to several news outlets for reporting on former President Trump’s purported links to Russia is actionable because it is not merely opinion, Florida Circuit Court Judge Robert Pegg ruled on July 20.Defendants withheld valuable information from readers, including the process by which complaints against the awards were evaluated, according to the judge.

In the July 18, 2022, statement, the board said that it “carefully reviewed” complaints against the awards, which were given in 2018 to The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Both reviews were conducted by individuals with no connection to the institutions whose work was under examination, nor any connection to each other,” the board said at the time. “The separate reviews converged in their conclusions: that no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes.”

The brief statement, though, was not pure opinion because the board failed to identify any of the reviewers, reveal whether the reviewers had any connection to the board, and share the reviewers’ qualifications, Judge Pegg said.

“If the defendants’ statement had included the foregoing facts, an ordinary reader might have been able to evaluate whether they agreed with defendants’ decision not to revoke the prizes, and whether the underlying reporting had actually survived the factual disclosures of several subsequent government investigations unscathed,” the judge wrote. “Instead, the alleged defamatory statement implies no fewer than seven undisclosed sets of foundational facts, making the defendants’ statement actionable mixed opinion.

Under Florida law, people cannot sue over pure opinion.

The board did not respond to a request for comment.

One comedian asked today if his audience was getting bored from slow-news days. Let’s consider the tumult: Over the weekend, President Joe Biden did what he said he would not do and quit his race for a second term as US president. He also endorsed Kamala Harris for the bid. Overnight millions and millions of mega-donor and celebrity donations poured in for Kamala and for the Democrats in general now that their favorite fossil was out of the race. And that was before they even “started up the fundraising machine.” Just as quickly, all 50 state-level DNC chairs endorsed her, ready to rock with anyone other than the guy who almost is a rock, and major donors are lining up at the telephone to host fundraising events by the hundreds.
