A western Michigan man who pleaded no contest to shooting an 84-year-old woman campaigning against abortion rights at his home was sentenced to community service Tuesday.

Richard Harvey, 75, was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. Judge Suzanne Hoseth Kreeger also gave him a suspended jail sentence of two months and a delayed sentence of one year on probation.

Harvey pleaded no contest last month to felonious assault, careless discharge of a firearm causing injury and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Kreeger also must pay $347.19 in restitution and cannot have any contact with the woman he shot, 84-year-old Joan Jacobson.

A New York Times columnist, appearing on CNN Saturday, panicked over the possibility that former President Donald Trump could successfully win the 2024 presidential election.

Speaking on his support for a second Biden term, NYT columnist Thomas Friedman, said Trump “must never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be back in the White House.”

“We’re at a critical juncture and three things cannot happen. Israel cannot turn into Hungary, an authoritarian democracy. Putin cannot win in Ukraine, Ukraine cannot go Putin, and Donald J. Trump must never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be back in the White House,” Friedman told the CNN host.

“That is my priority, and that is my focus. And so what I’m asking is what is the best Democratic ticket to win that election. This is going to be a close election if it’s Trump versus Biden. And we need the center, we need the moderate and independents and white working class to come out for Biden in enough numbers that he can win,” Friedman said before explaining how dire this election could be for Democrats.

Former President Donald Trump has been gearing up for what is becoming a more challenging 2024 presidential primary, but he has likely been put at a significant disadvantage by a Manhattan court.

“Trump threw up his hands in frustration Tuesday as a judge scheduled his criminal trial for March 25, 2024, putting the former president and current candidate in a Manhattan courtroom in the heat of next year’s presidential primary season,” the Associated Press reported.

During a pretrial hearing in the hush-money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniel, Trump appeared via video conference and scowled into the camera as Judge Juan Manuel Merchan advised that he clear his schedule of all other commitments for the potential duration of the trial, which might extend over several weeks, the AP noted further.

“Just had New York County Supreme Court hearing where I believe my First Amendment Rights, ‘Freedom of Speech,’ have been violated, and they forced upon us a trial date of March 25th, right in the middle of Primary season,” a frustrated Trump posted to his Truth Social platform.

The FBI has also infiltrated protests and admitted to having dozens of federal assets who were working inside the January 6, 2021 protests in Washington DC.

 In a significant legal development, a woman who suffered severe nerve damage after receiving a COVID-19 shot, along with four other individuals with confirmed or suspected vaccine injuries, filed a lawsuit against Joe Biden and his administration, Epoch Times reported.

The US Department of Defense said on Wednesday that the State Department had given its approval to the pending sale of another surface-to-air missile system to Ukraine.

“The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine of National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $285 million," the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.

According to the Pentagon, Kiev has requested to buy another NASAMS system, which includes an AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel Radar as well as a Fire Distribution Center (FDC), canister launchers, secure communications, GPS receivers, code loaders, and cable sets, tool kits, test equipment, support equipment, prime movers, generators, technical documentation, spare parts, contractor technical support; and related logistics and program support.

When an FBI whistleblower revealed to Congress the bureau had documentation of a scheme for Joe Biden to get paid lots of money in return for policy decisions that helped a foreign government, members there naturally were interested, and asked to see the evidence.

The FBI refused.

And now that fight has gone up a level, with a warning from Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., chief of the House Oversight Committee, of a looming contempt citation for FBI chief Christopher Wray if the information isn't made available.

Russia has summoned the ambassadors of Germany, Denmark and Sweden to protest a "complete lack of results" in a joint investigation into the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions last year.

Russia's Foreign Ministry on Thursday accused the three countries of dragging their feet and refusing to engage with Moscow.

"It has been noted that these countries are not interested in establishing the true circumstances of this sabotage. On the contrary, they are delaying their efforts and trying to conceal the tracks and the true perpetrators of the crime behind which we believe are well-known countries," it said.

United States and NATO leaders are looking to create an Israeli-like security agreement with Ukraine as its war with Russia rages on.

While NATO membership is likely far in the future for Ukraine, a security agreement would allow Western allies to "give priority to arms transfers and advanced technology" to the country, the Wall Street Journal reported. Similar to Israel's special relationship with the United States, Ukraine's security agreement would allow Western allies to continue to give foreign assistance to the embattled country but would not make NATO party to any conflicts with Russia, Western officials told the Journal. 

President Joe Biden discussed the Israeli-model concept with Polish president Andrzej Duda during a visit to Poland in February, according to Duda, who spoke with the Journal. It is now on the agenda for the NATO summit in July in Vilnius, Lithuania, and expected to be signed after the summit. The security agreement is intended to discourage Russian president Vladimir Putin from dragging out the war in hopes of weakening Ukraine's support from the West.

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio said Thursday the “power of the purse” could be used to address the FBI’s refusal to produce a subpoenaed document involving allegations of criminal activity by then-Vice President Joe Biden as well as other perceived abuses by the agency.

“Where we ultimately have authority is the power of the purse… you are not going to get money for certain things, you can’t use money for certain things, we are going to restrict the amount, the overall amount, we may cut how much goes there,” Jordan told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. “We have to look at all those factors.”

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the gates of Downing Street, the official residence of UK prime minister, police said Thursday.

In video broadcast by the BBC, a small white car can be seen driving directly at the wrought-iron gates that prevent public access to Downing Street.

The man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and dangerous driving following the incident, the Metropolitan Police said. There were no reports of any injuries after the incident.

Vivek Ramaswamy, presidential candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination, reports that he has been censored by the Big Tech platform LinkedIn.

It wasn’t purported election misinformation or Covid-19 or the Russia-Ukraine war that drew the suppression of Big Tech censors, according to Ramaswamy, but “climate change.”

“Big Tech election interference has begun: @LinkedIn locked my account & censored me this week for posting videos where I expressed fact-based views as a presidential candidate about climate policy and Biden’s relationships with China,” Ramaswamy said. “They said it violated their policies relating to ‘misinformation, hate speech, and violence.’ Sad but not surprising.”

The Supreme Court has struck a blow against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by curtailing the sweeping powers of the agency that it had claimed under the Clean Water Act.

The nation’s highest court has reined in the EPA’s alleged authority to oversee water pollution, stating that the Clean Water Act does not grant the agency the authority to regulate discharges into certain wetlands near bodies of water.

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., writing for a majority of five justices, explained that the law only covers wetlands that have a continuous surface connection to those bodies of water.

“The reach of the Clean Water Act is notoriously unclear,” he wrote. “Any piece of land that is wet at least part of the year is in danger of being classified by E.P.A. employees as wetlands covered by the act, and according to the federal government, if property owners begin to construct a home on a lot that the agency thinks possesses the requisite wetness, the property owners are at the agency’s mercy.”

With Joe Biden at the helm, former US allies are looking east to build new relationships.

Earlier this month, an FBI whistleblower told the Washington Times the FBI identified the vehicle the suspect entered shortly after planting the bombs but has not pursued the individual.

“The FBI had surveillance video that showed the person entering a car with a visible license plate after exiting a Metro stop in Northern Virginia,” the Times reported.

Kyle Seraphin, a former FBI agent who worked on the case, told the paper that the agency “tied whoever the person was that dropped the bombs with [surveillance] cameras all the way through the train and getting into a car with that license plate.” Seraphin also told the Washington Times that the two bombs were inoperable.

Biden's DOJ has decided not to charge Rachael Rollins after evidence found her guilty of election interference, raising concerns about a double standard in the criminal justice system.

Rachel Rollins, US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, resigned from her office on Friday after the Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found evidence that she lied to investigators to reportedly influence an election. The OIG referred criminal charges to the DOJ, but the Justice Department decided not to prosecute the district attorney, according to The Messenger.

The Trump campaign has accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of plagiarizing the former president in his candidacy announcement.
