"It will give us, for a course of years, good government and then only end, due to the corruption of the people, in despotism, which will be the only form of government suitable for them." -- Benjamin Franklin on the Constitution Philadelphia, 1789.
Russia considers the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) one of the pillars in the architecture of international security, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at a news conference on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Ninth BWC Review Conference, he said, "We view the BWC as an international security pillar. Today, just as 50 years ago, in 1972, when it was opened for signature, its goal is still very relevant - to prevent using chemicals as a weapon," the senior Russian diplomat said.
The important role of this international legal instrument and the demand for it "were confirmed by real life in recent years," Ryabkov said, referring to COVID-19. Given the impact of the pandemic on "the international community and international relations, it is hard to imagine the potential size and scope of the aftermath of any activity with pathogens involving their use as weapons," he added.
The Russian Investigative Committee has recorded weapons supplies to Ukraine from at least 25 countries, most of them NATO members, the Russian Investigative Committee said on Thursday following an operational meeting that took place in the city of Genichensk, in the Kherson Region, and was chaired by the Investigative Committee’s chief Alexander Bastrykin.
"Investigators continue to record evidence of weapons supplies to Ukraine by Western countries. The activities involve at least 25 countries, and 21 of them are NATO members," the statement reads.
The Russian authorities revealed that among the weapons and ammunition provided to Ukraine are 122 mm MLRS rockets, 125 mm tank shells, 60 mm and 120 mm mortar rounds, howitzers and related ammunition, as well as grenade launchers, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, tanks, NLAW anti-tank missiles, Javelin missile systems and other equipment.
RIA Novosti. Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States for chemical weapons for subsequent use in the Donbass, according to ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ilya Kiva.
"According to a source from the president's office, Zelensky asked Washington to urgently provide chemical weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine , which he is going to use in Donbas. The Kiev regime is in a panic, and they may not be limited to a terrorist attack at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant ," Kiva wrote in his Telegram channel .
The European Parliament voted for a ban on issuing visas for Russian passports issued in new regions of the country, as well as in Crimea and on the territory of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
It is noted that 540 deputies voted for the corresponding proposal, 6 opposed it, and 36 abstained.
The European Parliament has approved its mandate to negotiate with the Council on a legislative proposal on the non-recognition of travel documents issued by Russia in the occupied regions of Ukraine and the so-called breakaway territories of Georgia for the purpose of issuing a visa or when crossing the external borders of the EU.
The World Health Organization has decided to rename "Monkeypox" to "Mpox" at the request of the Biden Administration.
Some within the administration seem to think that people are offended by the name "Monkeypox," and they worry that it could cause stigmas.
Politico reported that three anonymous sources informed them that the name change was at the Biden Administration's behest. Thus, it seems like the WHO isn't even attempting to make impartial decisions about public health regarding this matter. They are flat-out following what Biden's people tell them to do.
Elon Musk may release information on Twitter’s internal discussions regarding censorship of stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop prior to the 2020 election, the newly-established CEO suggested Wednesday.
San Francisco authorities proposed a new “dystopian” policy heading for approval next week that would license department robots to kill suspects who threaten the lives of citizens and police officers in the crime-ridden city.
Even as health officials warn of a coming winter spike in COVID cases and the federal government urges millions of Americans to get a third booster, worry over the virus has dropped to just 28%, according to a new poll.
Chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Bill Gates delivered multiple updates on the status of the 2022 Election in the county during the delayed counting of the ballots. After massive complications and corrupt acts on Election Day, many across the country believe the election is being stolen like it was in 2020.
Just when you thought the Covid-deranged establishment medical community couldn’t lose any more credibility, Raymond D. Palmer, a self-identified mRNA alchemist from Western Australia, admitted that there are serious risks associated with Covid-19 vaccinations, but he blamed the anti-vaxxers for it.
The Twitter world became slightly less toxic on Thursday when one of the platform’s foremost advocates for censorship nuked his account. Leftist philosopher Sam Harris decided he had enough of Elon Musk’s pro-free speech policies.
Last week, hours before the council unanimously voted to pass D.C.’s controversial criminal code reform, a criminal justice policy advocate who helped pass the bill was fatally shot and killed, Washington Post reported.
Elon Musk responded to a tweet calling for all internal discussions about the censoring of the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story to be made public by saying “this is necessary to restore public trust.”
Moscow is looking for ways to unpeg settlements with foreign partners from the US dollar, RBK reported on Saturday, citing sources in the financial market and the government.
Russia has stepped up efforts to switch international settlements to national currencies after a number of Western nations placed sanctions on the country earlier this year in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. As sanctions jeopardized Russia’s transactions in euros and the dollar, these currencies have been deemed compromised.
However, the exchange rate used in cross-border trade in local currencies is still calculated through the dollar. For example, when determining the ruble-tenge rate, the rate of the Kazakh currency is calculated through the dollar to determine the ruble price of a tenge and vice versa.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s new discovery could finally usher the development of solid-state lithium batteries, which would be more lightweight, compact, and safe than current lithium batteries. The growth of metallic filaments called dendrites within the solid electrolyte has been a longstanding obstacle, but the new study explains how dendrites form and how to divert them. This is a goal that’s been pursued by labs around the world for years.
The key to this potential leap in battery technology is replacing the liquid electrolyte that sits between the positive and negative electrodes with a much thinner, lighter layer of solid ceramic material, and replacing one of the electrodes with solid lithium metal. This would greatly reduce the overall size and weight of the battery and remove the safety risk associated with liquid electrolytes, which are flammable.
The Nov. 16 study published in Science Advances elaborated on the planet’s “stabilizing feedback system,” which has allowed the existence of diverse life-forms for the past 3.7 billion years or so. While this feedback has been assumed before, the study now serves as primary evidence for the existence of this system.
“You have a planet whose climate was subjected to so many dramatic external changes,” said MIT climate scientist and study co-author Constantin Arnscheidt. “Why did life survive all this time? One argument is that we need some sort of stabilizing mechanism to keep temperatures suitable for life. But it’s never been demonstrated from data that such a mechanism has consistently controlled Earth’s climate.”
The Trucker Commission in Canada has showcased testimony from top Trudeau officials regarding the designation of the trucker convoy protests as a “threat to national security” requiring invoking the Emergencies Act.
