On Tuesday, Microsoft Research Asia unveiled VASA-1, an AI model that can create a synchronized animated video of a person talking or singing from a single photo and an existing audio track. In the future, it could power virtual avatars that render locally and don't require video feeds—or allow anyone with similar tools to take a photo of a person found online and make them appear to say whatever they want.

Al Roker is set to face a lawsuit claiming the famed presenter and his production company fired a producer for complaining about not meeting DEI quotas.

The longtime weatherman, 69, is accused of 'wrongfully and illegally' firing producer Bill Schultz, who is white, after Shultz says he called out alleged racial discrimination on Roker's children's show, Weather Hunters.

Shultz, 47, an Emmy winning producer best known for his work on The Simpsons, said the show failed to follow diversity guidelines, including employing writers of color.

In his $10 million lawsuit filed this week in New York, Shultz said the issue was 'surprising' because Weather Hunters is 'focused on an African American Family and was inclusively developed for PBS’s importantly diverse children’s audience.'

Caesar Duarte didn't flinch as an Amazon truck barreled down the busy 110 Freeway in Los Angeles, missing his makeshift home by just a few feet.

The only thing that stood between Duarte's outdoor kitchen and speeding vehicles was a three-foot retaining wall and metal fencing.

The 44-year-old mechanic and house painter said he has learned to deal with the danger and noise since he erected his homestead by the freeway about four years ago.

'It doesn't bother me, and also I have no choice,' Duarte told DailyMail.com. 'Everything is too expensive. Rent is too expensive, and right now it's hard to find jobs.

In Wednesday's ZeroHedge debate on Israel, Iran and Palestine, Dave Smith emphasized a little-known fact about the Gaza conflict -- that Israel "cynically, intentionally funded and propped up" Hamas "so they wouldn't face external pressure to give the Palestinians their freedom." Via Brian McGlinchey at Stark Realities, here's a deeper look at the history Smith was referring to.

In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by the Palestinian group Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, “The forces of civilization must support Israel in defeating Hamas…In fighting Hamas, Israel is not only fighting for its own people, it is fighting for every country that stands against barbarism.”

Those sentiments are quite different from ones Netanyahu privately shared in 2019.

“Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” Netanyahu told Likud Party legislators, according to Haaretz, Israel's longest-running newspaper. Doing so would help prevent the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority (PA) from ruling Gaza and giving Palestinians a relatively moderate, unified voice at the negotiating table. “This is part of our strategy -- to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

Iran has continued mocking Israel's limited attack which happened in the early hours of Friday morning. In a fresh interview with NBC, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian dismissed much of the initial reporting in the West concerning the strike, which appeared to center on the city of Isfahan - which hosts a nuclear energy site - as "not accurate".

"What happened last night was not a strike," the Iranian top diplomat asserted. He claimed that the the attack involved merely two or three small UAVs, which "were more like toys that our children play with, not drones."

Bill Maher delivered a scathing rebuke of the sexualization of children – whether it happens in Hollywood, at Disney, or during a drag queen storytime. The powerful monologue by the liberal talk show host is being heralded as his best takedown ever.

During this week's "New Rule" segment, Maher delved into the "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids" TV docuseries that explores the working conditions of child actors at Nickelodeon in the 1990s and 2000s. Producer Dan Schneider was accused of misconduct and placing children in sexualized scenes on television shows. Schneider has denied all of the allegations.

Maher prefaced his diatribe by admitting that he "doesn't like kids," but believes that it is "every adult's job to protect them."

After watching "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids," Maher noted, "Nickelodeon — it wasn’t a studio, it was Neverland Ranch with craft services."

She appears to seek help from other students, but one student sitting a few feet away does nothing but continue watching the struggle.

That's when the student grabbed the gun.

"I'm able to get my hands on the gun," she said, "and remove the magazine on the gun, and I toss it into the bush."

The attacker turned toward her, but she was able to run away. Moments later, he returned in a dark-colored sedan to try to reclaim the gun magazine. He and the driver were able to get away.

Maddi says she wouldn't recommend others do what she did.

On Friday, the United States agreed to withdraw its military personnel — more than 1,000 troops — from Niger. The decision follows a military coup and subsequent demands from the new junta that have challenged Western forces’ presence on their soil.

The agreement to remove U.S. military personnel was confirmed during discussions between U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine. The planned withdrawal casts uncertainty over the future of significant U.S. investments in the region, including a $110 million air base in Agadez, which has been central to counterterrorism operations across the Sahel.

An adult film star who previously alleged an extramarital affair with Donald Trump now says in a statement the affair never happened.

A lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels confirmed his client’s statement Tuesday. Daniels’ real name is Stephanie Clifford.

Clifford has been on a publicity tour in recent weeks amid news of the alleged 2006 tryst with the president. She is scheduled to appear Tuesday on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Her publicist hasn’t answered questions about the statement.

Clifford has sought to tell her story before, in 2011 and again during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that Trump’s personal lawyer brokered a $130,000 payment to Clifford in October 2016 to keep her from publicly discussing it.

Former President Donald Trump received a significant financial boost as his criminal trial in New York began. The former president received a significant increase in donations that could be vital to his efforts against President Joe Biden later this year.

According to new Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Lara Trump her father-in-law received more than $1 million in donations following the first day of the trial.

“The people of America spoke up yesterday in support of Donald Trump to the tune of a million and a half dollars raised for his campaign,” she said. “The average donation was $28, so even here, in the abysmal Biden economy, people are coming out and they are financially supporting this president.”

The former president is facing charges related to reported payments to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels after a brief relationship. The case is expected to be decided within the next eight weeks and could be affected by hearings before the U.S. Supreme Court next week regarding whether or not presidents can be prosecuted for acts they commit in office.

Friday marked day four of Trump’s ‘hush money’ trial in New York City.

The day took a dramatic turn when a far-left protestor set himself on fire outside of the courthouse.

12 jurors were selected and five more alternate jurors were seated.

One prospective juror broke down in tears after revealing her connection to Trump’s former lawyer and convicted perjurer Michael Cohen and former NJ governor Chris Christie.

“I feel so nervous and anxious right now,” the juror said as she began to cry.

“I don’t want to waste the court’s time,” she said. “I thought I could do this. This is so much more stressful than I thought it was going to be.”

The judge excused the juror.
