Users of Elon Musk‘s X, formerly Twitter, signed up to receive a share of the platform’s advertising revenue through its blue checkmark verification program are being ordered to submit photographic identification by July 1 to continue receiving payouts. Some users are crying foul, with the process being handled by Israeli firm AU10TIX. Its chairman and founder, Ron Atzmon, is alleged to be a spy or former spy for the Israeli military. Atzmon’s LinkedIn page suggests he served as a naval platoon sergeant in the Israeli military. However, reporting by Lebanese newspaper L’Orient Today and far-left watchdog journalism organization MintPress News claims he served with the Israeli internal intelligence service Shin Bet.

NATO is preparing for a protracted war with Russia but there is still a chance to prevent it, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said at a ministerial meeting of the military bloc in Prague on Friday.

NATO member states have been granting approval for Kiev to use Western-supplied weapons to hit targets deep inside Russia. Earlier in the day, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Ukraine had the right to defend itself, which includes the right to strike legitimate military targets inside Russia.

These steps are being taken in preparation “for a long, many-year war,” Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet quoted Szijjarto as saying.

“The express train of war has departed from the penultimate station,” and the question is whether there is still a chance to stop it, he added.

Senior security official Dmitry Medvedev says Russia is not bluffing when it speaks of the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

Medvedev, who is currently the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, also warned Moscow’s conflict with the West could escalate into all-out war.

His warning came after the US and Germany became the latest allies to let Ukraine’s military use Western-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia.

“Russia regards all long-range weapons used by Ukraine as already being directly controlled by servicemen from NATO countries. This is no military assistance, this is participation in a war against us,” Medvedev said.

China’s unmanned Chang’e 6 spacecraft has successfully landed on the Moon in a landmark mission to collect soil and rock samples from the far side of Earth’s natural satellite, the China National Space Administration has announced. The probe landed in a pre-selected area in the northeastern part of the South Pole-Aitken basin at 6:23am Beijing time on Sunday.

The lander is expected to go through initial checks and then start gathering samples from the lunar surface using its robotic arm. If successfully returned, it would provide scientists with the first samples from the Moon’s little-explored dark hemisphere, which always faces away from the Earth.

The mission is expected to last around 53 days, the Chinese space agency said in a statement. It also shared stunning footage filmed by the spacecraft during the final moments of landing.

The probe, which was launched on May 3, is the sixth in the Chang’e Project – the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program – and the second intended for bringing back samples. Its predecessor, Chang’e 5, brought back rocks from the Moon’s near side in 2020, which led to surprising findings about the celestial body as the samples turned out to be much younger than those retrieved by the US Apollo and Soviet Luna missions 50 years ago.

The African National Congress (ANC) has failed to garner a majority in South Africa’s general election for the first time in 30 years. The ANC secured only 40.2% of the vote, mandating coalition negotiations. Nelson Mandela led the party to power in 1994 during the nation’s first democratic elections after the fall of Apartheid.

Polling stations opened their doors on Wednesday, with 28 million voters eligible to elect new members of the National Assembly, as well as regional parliaments. More than 50 parties were vying for power, including a significant number of new contenders.

China’s efforts toward “peaceful reunification” with Taiwan have been consistently undermined by “separatist and external forces,” Defense Minister Dong Jun has claimed. He also warned that anyone attempting to separate Taiwan from China would end up facing “self-destruction.”

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue conference in Singapore on Sunday, Dong Jun stressed that “the Taiwan question is the core of China’s core interests” aligned with the One-China principle and safeguarded by the Chinese military.

The US, the UK and other NATO allies lifted formal restrictions limiting Ukraine’s use of its Western-sourced long-range missiles to attack targets inside Russia on Friday. The move constituted a 'crossing the Rubicon' moment for the bloc, which can no longer claim it’s not directly involved in the conflict, Russian defense experts told Sputnik.

Independent Western observers have sounded the alarm over NATO countries’ decision to partially lift restrictions designed to keep the Kiev regime on a leash and stop it from striking deep into the Russian hinterland using alliance-sourced weapons, expressing deep concerns that the move may provoke an escalation that can easily spiral out of control.

Russian officials reacted to NATO’s decision to scrap the restrictions calmly but firmly, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov telling reporters on Friday that attempts to target Russia using American-made weapons have already taken place, “clearly demonstrat[ing] the extent of the United States’ involvement in this conflict.”

The new "foreign agents" law will help Georgians tell right from wrong and real friends from fake ones, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter told Sputnik, arguing that the legislation should be called the "transparency law."

Georgia's "foreign agents bill," which designates non-governmental organizations (NGOs) receiving more than 20 percent of their funding from abroad as "pursuing the interests of a foreign power," became law on May 28. The US immediately announced sanctions against Georgian politicians backing the legislation, while the EU threatened to freeze the country’s candidate status.

One might wonder as to why the law, which resembles the US' Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), has been received with such animosity in the West. The crux of the matter is that the legislation is aimed at exposing the West's deep disrespect of Georgia's sovereignty, according to former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

"In Georgia today, as we speak, there are 27,000 Western-funded NGOs. What are these non-governmental organizations doing? It's about buying a generation of Georgian citizens, a young generation, a generation that has lost touch with who they are and what they are as Georgians, a generation that is out of touch with the reality of what happened to Georgia in the 1990s," Ritter told Sputnik.

Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun says his military is ready to “forcefully” stop Taiwan’s independence, but called for greater exchanges with the United States over the issue.

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue conference in Singapore on Sunday, Dong said Taiwan was the “core of core issues” for China, but Taiwan’s governing Democratic Progressive Party is incrementally pursuing separatism and bent on erasing Chinese identity.

The top legislators in the United States have issued a formal invitation for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deliver a speech to Congress in the latest show of support for Israel amid its war on Gaza.

The invite by Republican and Democratic leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives on Friday came as the International Criminal Court considers issuing an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes.

“To build on our enduring relationship and to highlight America’s solidarity with Israel, we invite you to share the Israeli government’s vision for defending democracy, combatting terror, and establishing a just and lasting peace in the region,” the letter said.

It did not specify a date for the speech.

Teflon Don rides again, according to an exclusive snap poll for DailyMail.com which found that the guilty verdict in Manhattan only improved the former president’s standing with likely voters ahead of the 2024 election.

Of those who said the 34 guilty counts had changed their view of Donald Trump, 22 percent said they now had a more favorable rating compared with 16 percent who said they viewed him more negatively.

That six-point net positive result is another sign of the way the businessman-turned-politician seems able to ride out crises that would sink anyone else.

In a tight election, it could be enough to get him across the finish line.

‘I think it was a waste of taxpayer money and will help propel Trump to a victory,’ said a 42-year-old hip hop DJ from Illinois, who voted for Joe Biden in 2020.

The world’s two highest courts have made an implacable enemy of Israel in trying to uphold international law and end Israeli atrocities in Gaza.

Separate announcements last week by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) should have forced Israel on to the back foot in Gaza.

A panel of judges at the ICJ – sometimes known as the World Court – demanded last Friday that Israel immediately stop its current offensive on Rafah, in southern Gaza.

Instead, Israel responded by intensifying its atrocities.

On Sunday, it bombed a supposedly “safe zone” crowded with refugee families forced to flee from the rest of Gaza, which has been devastated by Israel’s rampage for the past eight months.

The air strike set fire to an area crammed with tents, killing dozens of Palestinians, many of whom burnt alive. A video shows a man holding aloft a baby beheaded by the Israeli blast.

This past Sunday in Doha, I had a meeting with three high-level representatives of the Taliban Political Office in Qatar, including a founding member of the body (in 2012) and a key official of the previous Taliban government of 1996-2001. By mutual consent, their names should not be made public.

The cordial meeting was brokered by Professor Sultan Barakat, who teaches at the College of Public Policy at Hamad bin Khalifa University – set in an outstanding, immaculate campus outside of Doha which attracts students from across the Global South. Prof. Barakat is one of those very few – discreet – players who knows everything that matters in West Asia, and in his case, also in the intersection of Central and South Asia.

With my three Taliban interlocutors, we talked extensively about the challenges of the new Taliban era, new development projects, the role of Russia-China, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). They were particularly curious about Russia, and posed several questions.

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has been defiant in his backing of Israel’s attacks on Gaza. He’s faulted the Biden administration for withholding some weapons to Israel, and taunted progressives by flying the Israeli flag.

This week the New York Times did a story on Fetterman “relentlessly” supporting Netanyahu. But when it came to the senator’s motivation, the Times chalked it up to Fetterman’s contrarian “nature” – he is “stubborn… quirky, irreverent and at times frustrating to ideological purists on the left.” Though way down in the article, reporter Annie Karni said it might also be “calculated.” Fetterman thinks it’s a “winning lane.”

The article never mentioned the Israel lobby or its biggest campaign arm, AIPAC.

AIPAC is not nearly as shy as the New York Times. AIPAC is very proud of the money it raises. They lately bragged about being the “top” contributor to the Democratic Party, and to the black, Hispanic, and progressive caucuses in Congress. The AIPAC video flashes pictures of Israel stalwarts on the Hill, including Fetterman, Rep. Ritchie Torres, and House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (“Israel today, Israel tomorrow, Israel forever“).

A new report calls on United States companies to stop supplying Israel’s military with jet fuel and recommends an embargo to achieve this goal.

“Many credible sources have documented crimes under international law being committed by Israel in the context of its ongoing military campaign in Gaza,” reads a briefing from the Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO). “These include indiscriminate attacks leading to massive loss of civilian life and targeting of civilian infrastructure amongst other acts which constitute war crimes. Multiple sources, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and UN human
rights experts have documented indiscriminate attacks by air which have resulted in catastrophic civilian casualties.

The unelected leader of the European Union (EU) Ursula Von der Leyen has called for the public to be “vaccinated” against wrongthink by being punished before they are able to commit a “crime.”

Von der Leyen made the pitch while arguing that thoughts and beliefs must be eliminated if bureaucratic authorities do not approve them.

Speaking at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit earlier this month, Von der Leyen suggested the audience think of wrongthink as a virus and then said it’s better to vaccinate than treat the infection.

Explaining the plan, Von der Leyen argues that members of the public should be punished before they are able to commit a crime, not after.

As such, those who “might” commit a crime would face jail time.

The Telegraph expounded on this in a May 25 report, warning that EV buyers "should be aware of the 'astronomical' costs required to regularly replace short-lived tires." It cited several EV owners in the United Kingdom who experienced this first hand. Jim Bassett, 80, is a proud owner of a Volkswagen ID.3, which had a mileage of 7,500 miles. But to this surprise, he was quoted more than £300 ($382.29) to replace his EV's rear tires. He shelled out the money after being informed that it was common practice for rear tires to degrade rapidly due to the vehicle's weight. The Volkswagen ID.3, which retails at £35,000 ($44,600.50), weighs around 1,800 kilograms (3,968 pounds) because of its heavy battery. The hatchback's weight puts it in the same weight division as a Jeep Wrangler 4x4 vehicle.

The U.S. Navy's future Constellation class frigates could see their top speeds cut back to help mitigate unexpected growth in their overall weight. The Navy and shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine otherwise continue to grapple with the impacts of major changes in the ship's configuration compared to its Franco-Italian Fregata Europea Multi-Missione (FREMM) parent design. The entire purpose of basing the Constellations on an existing in-production frigate was to help reduce costs, delivery times, and risk, but they have shaped up to be larger, heavier, and now years behind schedule.

New details about weight growth, design instability, and other issues with the Constellation class frigate came in a report the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), a Congressional watchdog, published yesterday. Just last week, the Navy awarded a new contract to Fincantieri Marinette Marine, valued at just over $1.04 billion, for another two of the frigates. The service now has six Constellations on order, the first of which is currently under construction.

At the same time, the Navy has already confirmed that it now the first Constellation class frigate may not be delivered until 2029, three years behind schedule. This would also be around nine years after Fincantieri Marinette Marine received its initial contract for the frigates and some seven years after the start of construction of the USS Constellation.

Wind energy accounts for nearly 36 percent of total renewable energy generated in Australia and nearly 10 percent of total electricity generated in the country. But this year, the share of variable renewable energy – wind and solar energy – has fallen below last year's levels. OpenNEM, a platform providing up-to-date data on the electricity market in Australia, notes that over seven days in late May, the share of Australian energy generated from wind came in at just five percent, compared to more than 13 percent for the same period last year. Even in the state of South Australia, which is the country's and the world's leader in wind energy generation with an average share of 75 percent wind and solar in the past year, the share of wind energy generated fell from its annual average of 43 percent to less than 10 percent in the same seven-day period.

Shocking footage has emerged showing a gigantic 'shantytown' that has sprung up in Oakland, as the California city's slide into crime-ravaged squalor continues.

Michael Oxford, the host of CaliBased, posted a video on May 31 of massive temporary houses built along service roads that open up into main roads in Hooverville, Oakland.

The footage showed trash strewn around scores of houses that were built of wood, tarp and other discarded materials.

Particularly shocking was just how large the 'shantytown' is, with a lengthy stretch of road in the Bay Area city covered with the makeshift dwellings.

Oxford could be heard calling the area a 'shantytown' that is 'absolutely mindboggling,' as he remarked how 'insane it is that [city officials] allow this.'

The Royal Netherlands Air Force 313 Squadron’s F-35 fifth generation fighters have fully taken over the country’s nuclear attack role as of June 1, taking over from F-16 fourth generation fighters acquired during the 1980s based at Volkel Air Base. This has made the country the first in Europe, and possibly the first outside the United States, to field a stealth fighter unit capable of launching nuclear attacks. Indeed, the U.S. Air Force’s F-35s themselves were only confirmed to have obtained a nuclear strike capability on March 9. Regarding this new capability, the Royal Netherlands Air Force commented: “The Dutch transition from the F-16 to the F-35 for the nuclear role within NATO was initiated many years ago. In the last couple of years, the F-35 underwent a comprehensive testing and certification process for the nuclear role of the Netherlands. The RNLAF already started using the F-35 for conventional tasks… NATO’s nuclear deterrence is essential to the security of the Alliance, and therefore also to the security of the Netherlands.”
